Usually receive the highest customer service at the Walled Garden - never any complaint even at busiest of times - but not today. No queue at the counter which I thought great (most unusual as usually rammed). Three members of staff stood chatting behind counter & carried on, even though knew we were there. When we they eventually finished their conversation, one asked rather abruptly for our order - no pleasantries or anything. Got to end of counter to pay and collect - she got it wrong as I’d asked for takeaway and she made extremely sarcastic comment. Puts you off - nothing wrong with a smile and polite customer service in my opinion!l Unfortunately encountered her again when went to buy takeaway cakes a bit later - friendly service wasn’t in her vocabulary. Would recommend staff go on customer service training - especially the staff member with a slight foreign accent who was doing the serving today.

Went here for afternoon tea. When I phoned to book the lady was very obliging and helped to find things for the tea that we liked. My husband is veggie and Im fussy!! The area had a lovely atmosphere and the ladies who looked after us made us feel welcome and nothing was too much trouble. Sandwiches were lovely and fresh with good fillings. Scones lovely and the trifle and little desserts looked and tasted gorgeous. We have had afternoon tea at The Bothy before but much preferred The Walled garden. Unlimited tea and coffee.

Had a club sandwich, which had bacon chicken egg mayonaise and salad , it was tasteless and seemed soggy , probably because of the egg mayonaise , had a portion of chips, but wish I hadn’t bothered, they just didn’t taste right , maybe the oil was old, the cappuccino was fine and we had a raspberry scone which was good , but all told I felt we had wasted £32 which was not cheap for two sandwiches and two beverages

Visited The Walled Garden on the August Bank Holiday Monday with my family during lunch time. As you'd expect the place was heaving, with a long queue for each of the serving areas. Despite the chaos, staff were smiling, engaged in a really friendly way with my 4yo, and the food was quick and tasted great. I really appreciate the positive attitude despite the busyness and stress or must have brought on!

Received a voucher and Booked in here for an afternoon tea, was expecting to be in the main restaurant, but much to our surprise we where taken to a separate more relaxed building at the far side of the main building. There was relaxing music and a nice ambiance. The service was excellent and couldn’t be faulted. The food was also very nice and not overwhelming in quantity like a lot nowadays Would definitely go again thoroughly enjoyed it

I’ve visited The Walled Garden twice and it’s been poor both times (I gave them a second chance!). The service is terrible, you have to queue to order at the counter. There are two counters but only one takes hot food orders, the service is very slow and so inefficient. I queued over 20 minutes on a Sunday morning to order. It would be much better (and safer Covid-wise) if they had table service. The hot drinks and food are very average and not worth the terrible wait to order.

Had a afternoon tea gift card for 2 given as a present for the walled garden I went along with my sister food was fine just not enough the sandwiches had pickle and chutney already applied which I can’t stand and just the equivalent of two slices of bread each. The desserts were good but on the small side the tea was served from a tea urn and was cold when we got it. It was the equivalent of a child’s tea party and the portion sizes matched. At a cost of £15 per person the profit margin must be huge. Bit of advice got out and have a good meal or curry or even better fish and chips from local chippy another tip have something to eat before you go

We went for a family lunch on 25th June and following a long wait outside we eventually got a table. My wife decided to cue to place our food order, which was fish and chips and burgers. After nearly an hour in the cue followed by another 45mins we finally got our food. Well, the fish and chips were utterly disgusting and the worst fish and chips we have ever had. The burgers were not much better. The staff were very rude and felt and looked like they didn't want to be there. The fish was over cooked in what I can only assume is old oil and not golden as fish should be. I can honestly say that we will not be returning to this place or recommending it.

The food is always delicious but sometimes there is quite a wait, depending how busy it is. Today I had winter veg cobbler which consisted of winter vegetables in a tomato sauce with a scone type lid, nine new potatoes and four big pieces of broccoli. We think it is better to pay a couple of pounds more and have a meal rather than a snack. We are never disappointed when we eat here.

Visited with my husband for afternoon tea on a Thursday and what a delightful experience it was. We arrived at the counter area (a little early actually) for our booking paid and was asked to wait to be escorted to the garden room which I was happy with as the main restaurant area was really busy with it being school holidays. Being escorted to the garden room added to a sense of occasion and what a beautiful room it was. Served tea straight away then they brought out our afternoon tea and went through the favours of the sandwiches and desserts which was a nice touch. Everything was lovely from start to finish and service was fantastic. The only niggle I have and this might be personal preference but I dislike a metal tea pot and think a ceramic one to match other crockery would be better. I will return.

I bought my mum, as part of her Christmas present, a gift voucher, for an afternoon tea at Wentworth. I have been very ill so it was meant to be a way of cheering us both up after my last operation. We finally went yesterday and what a disappointment! The food was very good, very nice sandwiches and excellent scones but the tea tasted disgusting. The woman behind me said the same too. The lovely waitress did change the pot twice but to no avail. I swear they had previously used the tea pots for coffee. It was supposed to be a Yorkshire tea but tasted nothing like it. I have had many meals at this usually lovely restaurant ( their ham rolls and class are all fantastic) but as a tea lover this has really put me off returning. The manageress could see we were unhappy but chose not to come back into the area where the cream teas are served. The area is away from the main restaurant so hot water was in thermos flasks. Everyone knows you need to make tea with freshly boiled water not something that has been standing for ages. The coffee was in dreadful flasks as well rather than having a proper coffee machine in the room. I would say use the restaurant but don't have the cream tea! We left very disappointed!

I love Wentworth Walled Garden Restaurant. There is not a huge menu, but what they do is consistently very good. We have been many times for lunch in the restaurant, and the quality is always good, although it is very busy and noisy - we like to go when it is raining and this puts other people off so that the place is not too busy. It is self-service, but very quick, even when there are queues - other garden centre restaurants should take a tip from the Wentworth arrangements, especially Dobbies where you have to queue for food, then drinks (which take an age to make), then again to pay. The last time we visited was in October when we had booked for afternoon tea. We were surprised to find it served in the Garden Room - it was excellent, very peaceful and quiet with non-intrusive background music - a great improvement on the noisy restaurant. I must admit that I was looking forward to a selection of their mouth watering cakes, but in fact it was quite a delicate afternoon tea with sandwiches, miniature cakes, scones (would have appreciated a bigger scone) and trifles plus as much tea or coffee as you liked. We thoroughly enjoyed the experience, although were not full when we left.

I can't understand why I havent wrote a review for this restaurant before maybe its because its already a victim of its own sucess and sometimes we have to wait for a table with it being so busy. but let me tell you it is always worth the wait, we have been on lots of occassions over the years being lucky enough to live not too far away and whenever we go and whatever we have for lunch it always is pretty enjoyable especially the cakes which I must admit is probably the reason we go so much, There is a good selection of food and it is always freshly/home made and the prices arn't too bad considering the quality. We have been coming here for a number of years and must admit I did prefer the old restaurant , it was a little bit more intimate especially the plant room they had to open to cater for even more customers but as I said previously more and more people are visiting which tells you it must be good. Its nice to sit outside when we have warm weather as well. Well done to the family who run this restaurant you have got something right. Excellent food. My only criticism is the acoustics. Being a conservatory in style, the restaurant is all hard surfaces which make every sound echo and rattle around. As it is always busy, especially at lunchtimes, the noise level can be considerable. This shouldn't stop you going - the food is worth it but if you want a cosy chat or you have people with hearing problems in your party, then you may want to consider going at a quiet time or eating outside if the weather permits.
