Wakey Wakey Cafe in Southend-on-Sea

Excellent quality of food. My husband and I have eaten here on several occasions now, and we can honestly say we can not eat another thing til the following day, as the portions are very good. We are both big eaters and we always come out of here stuffed 😁. Very friendly atmosphere and a very nice owner called Justina. We highly recommended you try Wakey Wakey Cafe as the food is always very fresh and very tasty. My husband recommends the olive omelette and the Berry pancakes for dessert. 👌

Lovely to see Wakey Wakey back after extensive fire damage. The food was excellent and the staff were efficient and friendly.

Was our regular Sunday Breakfast spot ,was away perfect ,lovely staff good food Now back there after the fire ,And it still lovely place to be , The new decor is great cozy and food still great , and still got the friendly staff , Well done again it great 👍

Find yourself a parking space and get yourself a table. They have some Outside but we sat inside. Super friendly staff took our drinks order. Nice strong coffee. Lots of choice in the menu but as it was my birthday it was full breakfast day. Great choice. The owner made time for a chat with us which was appreciated Food was excellent and we will return again

Re-opened after a long closure due to fire. Nice to have it back. Food, service, prides all good. Small outside area for dog owners.

Sadly this wonderful cafe has been subjected to a fire and as such is closed until further notice.We hope no one was injured and that it opens as soon as is possible.A lovely cafe,great food,great staff and reasonably priced.Look forward to welcoming you back.

What a delightful little cafe. Originally, a friend and I went in for a late morning coffee only but when we saw the food on the plates of fellow diners, we decided to stay for a light lunch and we weren't disappointed. Fabulous service and reasonable prices too.

Found this cafe a few months ago. They do lovely breakfasts-freshly cooked, good food & wonderful coffee. Also tried the Polish dumplings which were tasty. It is clean & the staff are pleasant & polite. Well worth a try

What a great place to eat! It has a mix of hearty breakfasts and Polish homemade food. Even a lovely home made lasagne. We saw how popular it is - on a weekday it was a good idea to book for lunch! The staff are very attentive and the place has a great charm. The food is very good quality and we are bound to visit again when we next come to Leigh! Thank you to the owner - who took great pride in running the place and explained some of the dishes.

Spotted the Wakey Wakey when we had to make an early visit to the chemist across the road. They had an outside table available so we gave it a try. Lovely doorstep sized bacon butties and very nice coffee. It was a pleasure to be asked whether we wanted a regular or large coffee, rather than just being given a bucket sized one and charged the earth for it! Staff were welcoming and efficient and it was nice to sit and watch the world go by for a while.

Went here for breakfast today. Everything was top quality and we thoroughly enjoyed it. Service was excellent and everything was cleaned repeatedly. Would definitely return to experience the rest of the vast, and varied menu

I came here with my family on the first weekend it opened after lockdown. COVID-19 rules were strictly adhere to. 3 of us had the full English breakfast which was incredibly tasty using good quality ingredients. One member of the party had an humungous proper patty burger with the most delicious slaw. My children were super impressed with their delicious milkshakes and I thoroughly enjoyed my healthy juice - to offset my breakfast!This was a first visit for us but will definitely be back for more.

Hit this place just before the corona madness, great little menu and food was banging. Lots of different milkshakes and yummy cakes. Service and prices also very good.

We had a big breakfast and smoked salmon and scrambled eggs. Everything was very tasty, very fresh and generous portions. Very quick service and friendly staff. Good atmosphere too. There are a few Polish dishes on the menu (pierogi and croquettes) so we will definitely be back to try them. Cash only but there is an ATM a one minute walk away.

Visiting Southend Was looking for a decent breakfast cafe. Was told Brewers Fayre along the sea front was good.Went there walked in and out in 5 minute. So looked on trip advisor and found Wakey Wakey in Leigh It was a 20 minute drive but well worth it Fantastic breakfast One of my first criteria for a good breakfast is VERY HOT ✔️Then cleanliness ✔️Quality of food ✔️Service and Friendliness ✔️Don't live near, but any time we are down this way, will always make it our go to breakfast stop.Thanks for an enjoyable Breakfast

The breakfast at wakey wakey is fantastic. I had poached eggs, beans, mushrooms and tomatoes and my husband had bacon, fried eggs, and hash browns. It was all delicious. The service was fast even though it was very busy. The tea and coffee are great and it’s definitely worth having a freshly squeezed orange juice. The staff are so friendly, welcoming and helpful. Definitely worth a visit.

We met here for a tasty brunch. They serve an all day breakfast and a wide selection of other dishes including some polish specialties. Quick friendly service.

Visited with the family for Sunday Brunch, and was not disappointed. The menu is extensive, and much larger than from previous visits, incorporating the usual staple of British cafés (breakfasts, burgers, etc) but also healthy options (the Chicken Caesar Salad was as delicious as it was huge), and an Eastern European flavour from the Polish owners. The busy staff were all friendly and attentive, and created a welcoming homely atmosphere for all who entered. I ate the Big Breakfast, and it was absolutely superb: meaty sausages and thick cut bacon (quality ingredients, not cheap stuff) chunky toast and hash browns, plus eggs, mushrooms and beans. Every item was delicious, and filling. In fact, it wasn't easy to finish the plate off, but it tasted so good I didn't want to leave any. And for £7.90 it's hard to think where their profit margin is.My wife was especially impressed with the "Make Me Younger" smoothie, I'll have to let you know later if it's worked, but it sure tasted fresh and healthy. The decor is lovely, and there are two large, bright, clean toilets (great when you have a family) so never having to wait in line. If you want a traditional English Breakfast, at great value for money, with friendly service, then Wakey Wakey Cafe is the place to go.

I went to the Wakey Wakey for coffee and cake alone on my mobility scooter around lunchtime. There's seating inside and out. Steadily busy, nice and clean, friendly but not intrusive. very reasonably priced. Definitely recommend.

A visit to the Wakey Wakey is always reliable for a tasty lunch. Often busy but staff are friendly and the prices are reasonable. I recommend the various Polish special dishes and Mexican dishes.

Had brunch here yesterday with a friend. We both ordered avocado on toast with poached eggs and tomatoes. After a long ish wait , our food arrived . It didn’t worry us as we was happy chatting away and was in no rush . Food arrived and was lovely. The waiter did say he left the eggs in longer than normal so if they was to hard he would change them. We started eating and yes the eggs were hard but it didn’t matter, we just carried on eating. He then came over with 2 small plates with 2 freshly poached eggs on each plate! Wow that’s what I call aiming to please your customers. That little added touch was great. Our brunch was lovely. Staff friendly. Would definitely go back again. Thank you x

We came here as we were craving pierogi which we had tried whilst in Krakow. We shared the spinach and cheese pierogi and also the pork croquettes. Both were so lovely and authentic! Service is really good, very friendly. Will definitely come back!

Fantastic. Wakey Wakey reserved a table for 9 of us for my birthday on a a Sunday. There was a birthday banner, balloons and flowers on the table. The breakfast and staff were lovely. Thank you.

Wonderfully comfortable, quiet cafe offering a wide range of breakfast and simple lunches - well presented and good quality.

The cafe was nice and warm, and I was welcomed with a hello from young female staff member behind the counter. I had breakfast of bacon, sausages, eggs, beans and toast and a green tea. The portions were large and the food tasty. Bread used for the toast was thick and buttered. The whole breakfast only cost £7 (£5.90 for food, £1.20 for the green tea). They also seemed to have let me off 10p and I gave a tip anyway. In central Leigh this would have cost more and not been as nice - many places charge around £2 for a green tea. A very enjoyable first visit to the cafe and I shall return.

Visited a number of times now with both friends and family. Menu is excellent and both breakfast and lunch are reasonably priced and very tasty. Lots of cafes etc on this stretch of road, this is our favourite by far.

Been going here years - the food is always 100% fantastic as is the service and the hygiene. Why? Because they take real pride in what they do and clearly care about customers. Thank you wakey wakey and “kochamy Cię“!!

Ticks most of the boxes, simple food, good value and service, no plush furnishings or surroundings but then no Leigh inflated prices. If you want a nice breakfast/lunch or snacks with no fuss and good service this is the cafe to go to.

Breakfast was really tasty and Good Value. Sausage were much better quality than found in other cafe's. Service was terrific with staff both friendly and helpful. I wished to swap my toast for an additional slice of bacon and this was not considered a problem. They even have an incentive card which enables you to get a drink free when you have purchased 6. I would highly recommend this café.

As I only have black tea it's a pleasure to go here most places leave tea bag in pot or cup and it stews wakey wakey supply your cuppa with a little tea bag saucer to place on and a cup of hot water so you chose your strength how thoughtful is that great customer service throughout our breakfast we had I will be going back very soon

Went for lunch today with friends as previous visits have been excellent. Getting very shabby;light shade was split in half and our chairs were all peeling and scruffy.

This is a great friendly cafe, when we are back in the country we always find time to drop in. Food is always ok, seemed a bit short staffed today, but there was 9 of us. Always very happy and friendly.

I often pop in for a coffee and occasional snack. This week ten friends joined me for a post birthday breakfast. We stayed for several hours and enjoyed different breakfasts at a reasonable price. The staff are friendly and the café is very clean. Last year we enjoyed a similar event and I have a feeling this could well be a regular yearly occurrence. I visit wakey wakey atleast twice a month and it is superb. Excellent prices for excellent food and not to mention amazing coffee done with a proper coffee machine. They have the best sausages going and I have a new found love for their sausage sandwiches. Literally can’t fault them at all - a super cafe with lovely staff.

Cracking local cafe that also serves Polish food. Good quality ingredients cooked well. Really nice full English, great bacon and sausages not your usual low grade catering stuff. Really nice decor and lovely people. Fantastic place to take the family on a Sunday morning.

Love, love, love this little cafe. Favorites are the full English and sausage sarnies. Staff are attentive and friendly. Parking can be a bit problematic but it’s worth it!

This is such a lovely place. The staff are so friendly and happy to help. Mum wanted a small breakfast and that is what she got. We had smoked salmon with avocado . Beautiful !!!

I went to this cafe once and I was so pleased with it I went again with my family.There is lots of choices on the menu and all look and sound great, I would definitely recommend the paninis they are to die for. The service is absolutely brilliant aswell. There is lots of cakes and crisps at the front which are so nice. Defiantly recommend this place for breakfast lunch or dinner.Anna age 12

I went to Wakey Wakey today after a recommendation from my sister, and I cannot recommend it enough myself. This small, sweet and simple breakfast menu (the rest of the menu had a fantastic and surprisingly cultural variation of lunch foods in addition) provides a deliciously filling, home cooked breakfast. As someone who frequently goes for the vegetarian option I usually expect quorn sausages with my breakfast, but I was delighted to receive something different, a soft vegetable based sausage which was very tasty. The poached eggs were perfectly runny and the service, particularly from the blonde woman who was working at the front was the best I have received around here. I even asked for my breakfast to be slightly hotter at my own preference and this was delivered to me with no problems.My brother also received a custard cream with his coffee which made him very happy.A welcoming, friendly, helpful and wonderful experience. Definite return!!

Nice little Polish-run cafe on a busy road, met some friends for a quick coffee and had a bagel which was good. I've heard the polish food here is lovely but haven't tasted it myself. The only downside to this place was that when we left we really smelt of cafe/cooking! Other than that would go again. Maybe they need to look at the ventilation ....

First time visit and staff friendly. Very good bacon sandwich on crusty thick bread, shame the top of the brown sauce was clogged up. Nice hot latte just shame it was a bit cold in the cafe but hope to visit again

This café truly punches above its weight and was a good choice for a quick brunch stop on our way to the theatre. The food was extremely tasty, portions are generous and the staff, who seem to be family, are friendly and helpful. This was our first visit but I am sure that we will be back.

Had a nice lunch here, sat outside with my friend. Wasn't rushed and food was delivered promptly. Cost circa £6.50 each for a panini and drink. Nice touch was the soft blanket over the back of the wicker chair. Was so soft and comfortable.

Caught off guard by a sudden shower, we popped in thinking we just have a cup of tea or coffee. Instead, we ended up with a whole meal! The menu just looked so inviting, we couldn't resist just trying one or two of the Eastern European delicacies we'd heard so much about. Great food, great service!

Sunday morning call and its breakfast time.My friend Dave is on his way round to pick up myself and Christal and we are going to sample the delights of the wakey wakey café.In seated and helped by the fact that we took an odd number to the café in five of us. We were still seated with no problems and offered up our menus, (there is plenty to choose from even an veggie one...............Me and my girl went for the big breakfast ant a very reasonable 6.90 and there are cheaper options available.Breakfast was ordered with coffees and teas and extra.Food was lovely and I even asked for more butter to be put on my toast as that's how I like it and this was done to perfection. Lovely staff and a great little place for breakfast in leigh. You can park right outside the place so a big thumbs up there too.

I had to write a review of this place to sing its praises. My wife started coming here for coffee and lunch a couple of years ago when we moved to Leigh-on-Sea.I soon joined her when I could and I am happy to say we are regulars now.Lovely food for lunch, home made soup and cakes. Also, great polish specialties on the menu.The staff are lovely and quietly super efficient.We always have a smile on our face when we visit and in the summer we sit outside on their AstroTurf watching the madness on the London Road unfold, from a safe distance.So glad to have this lovely cafe on our doorstep, great work, well done.

This cafe is very welcoming & the staff are very friendly & they will prepare for you a very good traditional English breakfast. They also do other items on toast etc. plus the usual selection of drinks all at a very reasonable price.

Great local cafe which is bright clean and the staff are just as bright and friendly and welcoming and as I believe this is a family business the staff seem proud and keen to look after you and send you away happy and replete and they did just that! Definitely on our regular list of places to graze! We both had the Full brekkie and it was hot, fresh and so generous and despite my best efforts I could not finish it all! Hubby had no trouble! Good quality produce cooked well and tasting delicious with good coffee! We will also have to return to sample the Polish dishes offered - Pieroggi here I come!Fab place!

I've never eaten here, but I've had numerous meetings here, and there service is very pleasant and discrete. The teas and coffees are great and it's excellent value for money. I'm in here on a weekly basis it seems! I will have to try the food sometime soon.

We tried this place for a mid week lunch and pleased we did - the menu was varied and the service friendly and efficient.We ordered a jacket potato and Polish dumplings. Both were delicious and the portion sizes were quite generous.Note, there seemed to be an influx of people just after 1pm so tables might be in short supply around that time during the week.Recommended !

My mum and I regularly visit Wakey Wakey cafe for lunch, and we haven't had 1 disappointing visit!! The hot wraps we usually order are quick to arrive, and hot and fresh everytime. The service is quick and efficient and tables cleared and cleaned quickly :)

This is the only place where I really like the sausages with the breakfast. The breakfast is great - always perfectly cooked. Even the hot drinks come with a small biscuit

I regularly visit Wakey Wakey and I haven't been disappointment once! The staff are always very friendly from the moment we arrive, and the food and drinks are great, with lots of choice!

Met a friend for lunch- my first visit. I had caesar salad which was lovely. My friend had the full English breakfast which was huge! Very friendly staff, good service and reasonably priced too. Just one small thing - would suggest they get more diet coke (popular drink) which they ran out of as it was a hot day. Would definitely recommend.
