Disappointed they don’t have gluten free food being coeliac I have to be careful all I could have was coffee. A pre-packed sandwich would have been nice even if there wasn’t any cooked food available due to cross contamination. It’s nice they cater for vegans and vegetarians but it’s a shame they don’t cater for people with food allergies and coeliacs disease.

Staff were friendly and helpful. Cooked breakfast was good - not greasy and cooked well. However amazed they had no de caff coffee available. Surely they could get some from the shop floor??!! Also no gluten free bread or toast available. The cafe always feels a little cold and cheerless which is a shame.

Called in for breakfast on Sunday 10 August 2023. Were were served by Steph and her team. Great service and good quality food. The cafe was very busy but the level of service was exceptional. Steph had great communication skills and is a great person to have “first contact” with - friendly, engaging and accommodating. Steph is a real asset to your company and an absolute role model for all Waitrose employees. Well done Steph and Team at Swaffham.

Needed a drink and a bite to eat. As I’m gluten intolerant thought Waitrose would be a safe bet. How wrong can you be! I only wanted a toasted sandwich but was told that they never have gluten free bread, if I wanted it I’d have to buy a loaf in the store!! Unbelievable! It’s the only cafe I’ve been to where they don’t have a loaf in the freezer for sandwiches when needed. They could have gone & bought one. I finished up having ham, egg & chips which was awful. The chips were soggy & undercooked and the ham slimy & tasteless. Even the toilets were dirty!! You’d never be so badly treated in Asda!!

I eat out a lot, or maybe I should say I used to eat out a lot. Am I the only person who is tired of paying out lots of money for either average, indifferent or poor food? When was the last time you were excited by a really great dish or experience? Which explains my delight at getting a well cooked breakfast with quality ingredients at Waitrose cafe in Swaffham. It was better than expected and so I was happy. No wonder so many restaurants are closing, they’re just not good enough.

My wife and I use the Waitrose Cafe at least 4-5 time a week spending about £40 per week it's been a great meeting place with excellent service from their staff. Now however something has gone badly wrong there is inconsistency in the range of food on offer and something which we bought on most visits were their plain buttermilk scones which were lovely now however they have become unedible they are over cooked and rock hard, I have complained on numerous occasions and nothing is done about it. Why do they have so many managers and supervisors when they never come forward to sort things out, then to make matters worse this year scores of customers turn up to find the cafe closed supposedly for maintenance 3 times this year on busy Saturdays without any previous warning, really not good enough and just think of the lose of sales amounting to £1000,s of pounds if this continues the quality image of Waitrose be destroyed forever.

Popped into the cafe with my husband whilst shopping. Initially served by a male member of staff, and I ordered two pots of tea and two fish finger wraps and fries. Got the tea, and then he handed over to another female assistant, and asked her to complete my order. I repeated the order, and firstly she brought cups, holding them with her thumbs inside the cups, which I asked her not to do. I then paid, looked at the receipt and no fries listed. I asked again, and she said you didn’t order fries, whereupon the man waiting behind me said “she did”. She then walked off, without any explanation or apology, and I went to sit down. The wraps and fries came, the fries separately served in a paper wrap and tub. The wrap was dry and hard, and there were two fish fingers, one and a half in each half of wrap. The fries were cheap frozen fries, undercooked, greasy and soggy. Most of the meal was left. The tea was good. All in all, a very poor lunch for £15+ we paid . Not recommended.

The food in Waitrose is excellent but sometimes later in the afternoon they are left with little choice as so many people eat there for lunch. The only fault is that they can be very slow at serving but if you are not in a hurry it doesn't matter as you can sit and read their wide selection of newspapers.

My first breakfast at a Waitrose and quite good it was. The staff were friendly and in fact wanted to engage with the customers and have a laugh. I ordered the big breakfast costing £7.95 and with 2 rashers of bacon, 2 sausages, fried egg, hash brown, whole baked tomato, beans and toast was reasonable value for money. The coffee is good too and the cafe area spacious, bright and clean if a little cold (the air conditioning was blasting out cold air on a day when the car thermometer was at 3.5 degrees!

Stopped off for a bit of lunch with a friend. Had a ham and cheese toastie, it came with a bit of greenery on the side. I ordered a pot of tea too, which thankfully was free with my Waitrose card, otherwise the two bits of bread with ham and cheese in, along with tea, would have been short of £8! The free hot drinks will be ending soon, although you can still get one with a refillable cup, but I think I’ll be nipping to subway in the town where a cuppa tea is cheaper.

This is an ordinary Waitrose store, conveniently situated just off the A47/A1065 junction at the north end of Swaffham. Hot snacks can be obtained, as well as sandwiches, baps, cakes, biscuits etc and hot and cold drinks. Unfortunately it was dead on lunch-time when we arrived, and waiting in the queue took nearly as long as it did to eat the snacks we bought (which were nevertheless imaginative and of good quality). For My Waitrose cardholders the normal free drink applied with the snack paid for. As we had tea, presumably the paper cup policy did not apply. Size would make it a bad place to go on Easter Monday, for example, but otherwise it is a useful place to note.

We often go to Waitrose to shop and occasionally take advantage of the free coffee. Some weeks ago we went in for a shop and spent about 150 pounds or so. We asked if we could sit in the cafe and have our free coffee in a mug rather than paper cup. It seems the green thing to do and prevents yet another paper cup having to be disposed of. We were told that it was not possible because so many people were abusing the free coffee that it was now policy that you have to have the free coffee in a paper cup unless you buy a cake. Well we had spent 150 pounds considerably more that the cost of a pastry. Waitrose would be better dealing with those abusing the free coffee than dealing with customers who spend a lot of money in its supermarket. Net result we no longer spend 150 pounds a week in Waitrose and go out of town to do our shopping.

Service is slow -sometimes because of the staff on duty, as some are much better than others - but mostly it's the customer cretins who queue up and can't decide what they want to order, and when they do decide, the ask questions about where the produce came from, and then want to know what a Waitrose card is, and how it is used and what the weather is like in Pentney. The most common comment heard from customers is "FFS" Very expensive but OK if you shop there and use a Waitrose card as 30 pence for a large Americano is about the right price.

Used this café many times over recent years. The staff are always friendly and helpful considering what they have as working conditions - always busy. Orders taken at the counter then have to be taken to the kitchen while queues build up. The choice of food varies very little when considering this is part of a Waitrose store with a vast selection of food to choose from to provide for customers in the café. The last two visits to Waitrose Café have been disappointing. The main issue is that it is always freezing cold in here !The majority of customers had their coats on, some also kept scarves on !!You should be able to remove outer clothing, and relax in a warm and comfortable environmentThis café attracts all ages of customers, my Mum and partner are pensioners and the temperature endured was unacceptable. We mentioned how cold people were to a member of staff, and were told this was due to the amount of windows in the room. This is a poor reply. In the summer air conditioning is blasting out, so why, in a newly refurbished café are paying customers expected to be denied adequate heating. We won't be visiting again for a while, even our toast was only toasted on one side, not what you expect from an organisation of this calibre.I hope the restaurant manager takes steps to deal with these issues.

I have to declare an interest - I've always been a great Waitrose fan both as a customer and a supplier. Still it was an added bonus to find a good sized branch with its own cafe in Swaffham, in the middle of the area we were searching on a house-hunting trip. As a result, this became the standard pit-stop for lunch . Waitrose's hot food offer is fairly standard - a curry, a burger, a fishcake, a salad etc, but the bonus is always Waitrose quality. We stopped in for a drink after shopping, and found the cafe busy, a bit noisy, but clean. There are a few tables with comfy chairs, but most are of the school canteen variety, giving it a bit of an institutional feel. The overall atmosphere therefore was rather average. The offerings at the counter were rather limited, I felt, for a cafe in a leading grocery/superstore. There were no gluten-free offerings, and the breakfasts on offer were rather standard fare. The hot chocolate was rather good, and fairly rich, though the cream seemed processed and the marshmallows of the basic sort. Waitrose is a great supermarket and to have one locally is a bonus. This cafe however lets the entire store down. I echo the comments of others about the cleanliness and and tardiness in clearly tables. You often see waiters taking food to a table and walking back empty handed passing dirty crockery enroute. The food is generally good, although the pastries are over priced. Despite enjoying a free coffee if food is purchased, if I look in and see uncleared tables I do not stop. We have visited this cafe several times after shopping, and it's quite common to see several tables with dirty trays, crumbs etc. There is no self-clearing area but the staff don't seem to stay on top of clearing tables fast enough. This visit was our first since the renovation, the cafe looks nice and bright now but alas we still had to search for a clean table - in the end we sat at one that had been cleared but not yet wiped. This was at 11am, the cafe was half empty, and they were not at all busy.I asked for an Americano and a Latte. The Americano was not piping hot, with no crema, and to be honest tasted like a strong filter coffee. I did check the menu board afterwards and they don't list an Americano, just 'Coffee', so perhaps that's what I got but they should have said so when I ordered. The latte was very, very strong, and the foam on top was completely coffee-coloured so I'm not sure how they make it.The menu offers two slices of toast for £1.75, with butter and preserves. I asked for this but only one slice of white toast and just butter, no preserves. I emphasised just one slice (I was quite happy to pay the full price). The plate arrived with two slices - not a huge problem but just a waste. The salmon and cream cheese bagel we also ordered was absolutely delicious and almost made up for the dirty tables and awful coffee... except no, it didn't really.

Being a Waitrose café the interior is very stylish and the cappuccinos are excellent - some of the best around. Unfortunately the service falls below expectations. We go mostly at weekends and often the tables are not cleared for some time. They have sometimes run out of utensils as well. The toasted teacakes - a café staple, have usually gone within two hours of opening and lately the croissants too. We tried the pastries last weekend (as they had run out of the above) and these were decidedly average.

What a treat the ideal way to shop and either have a coffee and cake or lunch and shop or vice a versa. Good quality food friendly service at a reasonable pice.

Came for lunch. Was looking forward to some hot chips. What I got were lukewarm microwave- reheated chips! Asked for a glass to pour my diet coke into but was refused. I sat at a window table but unfortunately the kitchen door was propped open so was very noisy as the staff were calling out, joking around and throwing things to each other!! Very unprofessional!! Value for money is poor - why charge double to other supermarket cafes? Staff are slack on clearing tables - if you can stand around in the kitchen talking then you have time to clear the tables!!!

Always good and the place to leave your partner reading the paper over a cuppa or share a meal before the task of shopping. The new brighter cafe and layout is better than the old one. During holiday periods the cafe ought to be open later as the store is. I pretty sure it doesn't take an hour to clean up. i have worked in top restaurants and with the right routine, you can be out in half an hour. Worth considering. We travel a great distance to shop here.

We pop in here regularly when out shopping. Usually bump into someone we know. Recently modernised and has remained quick and efficient. Meal of the day sells out quickly. Perhaps a little more variety including vegetables and meat.

My husband and I have been customers in the waitrose café for many years We travel from Hitchin herts to Cromer roughly every other weekend and have always stopped here for our breakfast and up to a couple of weeks have enjoyed this BUT on the past two occasions have been offered breakfast in a BOWL we accepted this this first time but it was so clumsy trying to cut sausages etc. We asked for an ENGLISH BREAKFAST on a plate and was told there were no plates. Spoke to the Manager who was most helpful saying that this was the norm now, he however did manage to find a couple of plates but will think twice about eating in there again .

Sad to say that having been a longstanding customer of this cafe, the new well planned and improved appearance is not carried through in the service. The delays in service are not improving and result in warm not hot drinks once you get to sit down. The service process is laborious and not well thought through to ensure a speedy transition. The food has a new style of presentation. Remember to ask for sauces etc as these don't come on the table and you can be up and down to a communal area to get simple things such as a sugar cube. Come on Waitrose, the quality of food is good but you need to give the complete package.

We enjoy having a good cup of coffee In the cafe, the food seems a bit expensive, so we stick with a shared cake.

It is a convenient place to visit with small children on journeys from Surrey to Norfolk. Food is suitable for them and we have options which we like too.

Very accessible cafe for pre or post shopping. Can at times be very slow service however. Staff are busy but may be short staffed and need some 'time and management'. Tables need to be cleared more quickly, especially at busier times. Love the mini shortbread biscuits!

On a recent visit I was faced with a long queue awaiting service. When at last (over 10 minutes), I was served, the order was incorrectly taken. After two attempts this was rectified. Then with approximately 16 tables within the Café, 7 had not been cleared after previous customers. After eating, I complained to customer service, but my comments were treated in an offhand manner. Was this just a 'one-off'? No, on a further visit a few days later, the situation was similar. The only improvement was there were only 6 tables left uncleared.Turning to the food, this was satisfactory.

This place had really nice staff, food looked great but as our stay was aimed at going to the Spa at centre parcs we missed due to timings. This is literally a 5 min drive to Centre parcs so great for a weekend getaway or a Nice Stay over if you're doing a long trip. I highly recommend this place.

Sunday Lunch for 5 as a last minute idea, we decided to go local. Despite living less than 10 miles from Great Hockham, I had never been to the village and a charming place it turned out to be. The food was traditional pub grub and the portions huge. Service was great and friendly and the meals fantastic. Unfortunately due to a upcoming holiday to Portugal we were all not drinking bar one of our number but we will make up for that at our next visit as there was a good choice of ale, which the locals seemed happy with! Well worth a look!

Arrived without a reservation, we were offered a choice of tables, served drinks and given a menu. The Staff were attentive and very pleasant, the food was excellent and the service faultless. Little touches like a jug of water and two glasses delivered to the table without us having to ask. Will certainly return in the near future.
