It is with my upmost disappointment that if it weren’t for the price point of the items I would have thought I was in a Tesco cafe.

The first question we were asked was, are you having any hot drinks by an assistant, who then proceeds to make the coffee and teas. The second assistant took the food order and payment. Which meant the coffee and tea are cold by the time the meal is cooked and served. After getting a table I noticed we didn't get any milk and neither did our relatives. Once the meals arrived we were not provided with any cutlery, neither were our relatives or another customers table. The bacon was lovely on the rolls, however, we did not expect the bacon to be served on unbuttered, hard ciabatta roll (2 portions of butter were provided on the side plates with the bacon rolls). We expected the bacon to be served on a soft round roll, perhaps, it would be a good idea to ask what type of roll is preferred. The assistant did offer to bring replacement hot drinks when I pointed out the drinks would be cold when the soup and rolls arrived, when mentioning we had no milk, however, I didn't take her up on this offer, rather than creating a big fuss whilst out with elderly relatives. These are simple basics you would expect a cafe to get right. Therefore I would not visit this cafe again. Hopefully this may have been a one off day. I could only see two members of staff on duty.

Oh dios, no pude comerlo. Demasiado caro y horrible.

Nothing much wrong with food on offer but it is the slow service due to only one server behind counter regardless of how long the queue is and you know how long it takes to to produce a coffee from the barista machine. Plenty people moving about in the kitchen but the tables are not cleaned up quickly after someone leaves and I'm sorry the cutlery and sugar bit is not being topped up often enough . Lumps of sugar looks nice and swanky but the public don't always use the tongs and instead use their fingers . Yeuch!

We found Waitrose to be a great place to pick up takeaway during our visit to Stirling. It was a short walk from our B&B, and was perfect to come by at the end of a long day touring. We enjoyed the items like fresh salads and more that were packaged and ready to go. Combine that with an excellent selection of wines and beer and other snacks, and we had a perfect, and reasonable priced evening meal! It was also nice that there was a cash machine just inside and a self-checkout where we never had to wait.

I reviewed this cafe once become in the hope that it would change for the better. It didn't. A couple of weeks ago they painted the dirty skirting boards but they are back to being as grubby as before. The bases of the tables need a good clean too. The staff try their best, but it is a management issue. They have also changed the rules and don't give free coffee at the tables any more. They offer a discount on a small range of cakes instead. Please, Waitrose, step up to the high standards your customers expect.

A very spacious and well stocked supermarket with courteous staff and a lovely cafe with comfortable seating. The only issue,as with other Waitrose's, is the queue to get your food.Whether this is down to lack of staff or customers who stand in a dream and then suddenly realise they have to pay is anyone's guess, but allow for this wait if you want to indulge - and it probably is worth the wait, particularly if you have one of the comfy chairs!

Nice enough food. They seem woefully understaffed and a bit disorganised. I use this cafe only because I shop in the store. Otherwise I wouldn't bother. There are usually only two people working here. They insist on taking your drink order before sending the food order to the kitchen. This means you get your cup of tea or coffee about 15 minutes before your food. It would be nice to get everything at the same time. It's usually busy and there are always trays with leftovers lying around. Such a shame as with a few more staff it could be pretty good.

Waitrose do good cafes and this is no exception and, coupled with a loyalty card, provides good value for money. Two gripes, which I think are more common than just this cafe: first that service can be quite slow, even with two people working at the front. Second, when it gets a bit later in the afternoon, most of the cakes, buns etc. have gone. On the positive side this probably means that the delicious pastries are fresh on the day, but the down side is that if you decide to shop a bit later, or even turn up for refreshment, your choice is likely to be severely limited.

Called in for a coffee but the actual cafe had a huge queue, so we decided to get a coffee from the machine at the customer service desk where you have to present your card and then are given a paper cup for the machine. The attitude of both women behind this desk was very poor. Okay so the coffee is free, but a smile and a pleasant attitude goes a long way. We always spend money in the store when we visit but this morning we felt more of a nuisance than customers. Almost felt guilty that we were taking part in the legitimate free offer. Sour faces and bad attitude by these particular staff members today. Other customers in the queue were also remarking on same.

Considering the prices you pay at Waitrose, the service and food from the cafe is poor. There is a massive sign which says the dish of the week is mushroom risotto, yet when my mum and dad ordered it, they were told there was none left as its a ready meal taken straight off the shop floor and it had all been sold. This is a major stock control issue of they can't guarantee their dish of the week because shop punters currently have it in a bag in the boot of their car! There should be a separate supply for the cafe and any over stock could then be put out on the shop floor. On top of that, I think it's pretty poor that they serve ready meals on the menu, all processed rubbish, no fresh cooking. It's not like the menu is massive so they could easily have the 'dish of the week' cooked fresh. And on that point, if they are in fact just taking a box off the shelf, why isn't there a bigger choice of what you can have, why restrict it to one ready meal?!My mum had the butternut squash risotto (all that was on offer to replace dish of the week) and even then, there was only one of those! She said it was bland and tasteless and certainly wouldn't buy it in the cafe or in the shop again. My dad also opted for the risotto but as there was only one, he ended up with a prepacked sandwich which was nothing special. My husband had the scampi and chips but we felt the portion size was really small.I had the burger which was very nice except it was in a strange (fancy) bun, would have been better in just a normal bun.All in all, really disappointed, the food was well below par, the service was non existent, not a smile to be had by any of the staff the entire time we were there. Should also mention we bought scones and croissants earlier that day for breakfast, the scone was nice but the butter given was solid so didn't spread and they had no strawberry jam, find that to be ridiculous, all they had was blackberry and marmalade, after asking she checking in the back and found raspberry but no strawberry! The croissants were outrageously expensive, you can buy them fresh made at a fraction of the cost.Paid well over the odds for average food in a place with poor service, just because it's a waitrose, there is nothing special about it. I have been to nicer cafes with better service and no where near the cost. Snobbery for the sake of it. Doubt I'll be back.

We stopped off at Stirling when travelling back from Glasgow to Aberdeen. I wanted one or two items in the store so we decided to have a quick snack there too. There was no queue whatsoever but the lady on the till was very abrupt and snappy from the off. As with many people I suspect, we hadn't quite decided what we wanted when we were at the servery and this seemed to annoy her. I then asked for a scone - a specific one I liked the look of - and was told they are all the same, with a blunt reprimand. She shouted at me twice asking if I had a Waitrose card, and I had answered the first time, but she simply hadn't heard me, causing her to snap at me again. She was in so much haste to ring up my scone, cappuccino and my husband's tea, that we had to say, "hang on please" as he hadn't even been given a chance to request the Apple Strudel Cake he wanted. We struggled to find a clean table, and I had to move dishes to another table so we could sit down to eat. Then I noticed the knife I'd taken to cut my scone was filthy with food stuck to it. I went to get another and the only other one left was worse! I took these to the lady serving on the till, as she was the only person there at that point. She wasn't in the least apologetic about the dirty cutlery. Just by that a young girl came out with more cutlery. This staff member's less than pleasant attitude certainly made a poor impression on us, and spoilt the wee snack stop on our journey - that's a bit of a black mark for Waitrose.

Nice airy cafe when seated but area where hot drinks are handled is far too cluttered.Coffee takes longer than tea service and causes hold up in queue.

Can't entirely agree with previous reviews. Yes, staff are great and the place is spotless. Great for (free) coffee and a cake and the occasional bowl of soup. However, not so great for meals. Only done so twice - once for lunch (toastie) which they actually completely forgot about. To be fair, they then gave it to me for nothing. The other was at tea time. On this occasion we found the soup to be bland, the quiche simply OK, the fish was tasty but the chips had a peculiar almost uncooked texture inside although they looked cooked on the outside. So, a bit of a mixed bag really.

A comfortable place to have a coffee, well-lit, with windows all along one side; plus you get a free coffee if you have a My Waitrose card. The baking looks very tempting, maybe especially so to me since I'm wheat-intolerant and on a low calorie and low fat diet. I would like it better it if they had some apples or bananas, but they don't.The clearing away isn't quick, so you often have to do your own tray-removal, table-wiping and crumb-brushing, but that's not too much of an imposition. My biggest criticism is the strength of the coffee. I've been going since it opened and, because I don't like strong coffee, have always asked for one-shot-in-a-big-cup. That used to be okayish; still too strong but not by much. Recently however, the strength has more than doubled and half-a-shot-in-a-big-cup is just about drinkable. But I suppose this is just me; most coffee drinkers seem quite happy with the coffee at embalming-fluid strength.

It was a lovely experience here after some shopping. The staff were courteous, friendly and made sure the place was spotless. We came in at the back of the rush by the number of trays on tables but within minutes the place was spotless again. It was great that we got free tea and coffee as well with the members card! Only possible suggestion I have is for the bakery section of the cafe: I was not aware of any information on what was vegetarian which would have been nice to see.

This place came as a great surprise as we had only once been in a small Waitrose in Glasgow. The shopping experience is wonderful and the Cafe is an added bonus. We have our coffee on each visit and used to have a muffin but they don't serve these any more. We are working on an alternative snack! The staff are friendly and helpful, there is an open outlook and the place is clean and well decorated. Can't wait for our next visit.

This is a self service cafe/restaurant within the new Waitrose in Stirling, almost at the town centre. For a start if you have a Waitrose card you get a free cup of tea/coffee, so people go in and usually buy something else as well.Staff are courteous and efficient, bringing the meal to you and checking on your state of satisfaction without being intrusive. There are free daily newspapers available as well. They usually have a recommended dish, often a pasta with meat or vegetables, which is always excellent. On one occasion when I ordered this, after I sat down a member of staff came and apologised that they had run out, what else would I like, I chose, and when the meal arrived they refunded my money by way of apology.Checking with other customers - universal approval.

Arrived, for a coffee stop and browse, changed our mind when we seen the cafe, carpet was very dirty and stained, tables not clean, uninviting! Outside plant area, rundown to be honest, no sign of any staff, disappointing visit, such a shame.

Tasty and generous meals in a comfortable, traditional setting. Friendly staff and seemed to be well used by the local community.

Stayed for an overnight on the way back to Glasgow. The evening before we were told there were grilled sandwiches available all day. Returning for breakfast at 9.15am we were then told that only coffee was available. We purchased this £3 for a cold coffee from a flask with a disgusting spoon that had clearly been sitting for hours. When I asked for a clean one and commented I was told I could get my money back in a very aggressive manner. Knowing that there was nothing else in the area I felt very intimidated as I was with a group of females the man clearly had an issue. Then going for a shower to experience faeces up the walls on the main floor and toilets that couldn’t be used. I would not recommend!! The staff on the previous evening were great and having been many times before with other friends and family. This place has clearly been taken over and went right down hill!! If you want a relaxing break away AVOID !! Many other amazing places in the area that accommodate a lot better. Definitely not recommended for females only.

Visited with my husband recently after receiving a hotel, spa and afternoon tea voucher for my 50th birthday. My husband suffers from a severe seafood/fish allergy and carries an epipen after being hospitalised in the past. This was explained to the staff who said that this "was a standard request and would not be an issue" After waiting over 30 minutes with no sign of our afternoon tea I asked a member of staff if there was any sign of our food and were told that our server that forgotten to order our afternoon and did we want to wait! I explained that we had received a gift voucher so we would have no choice but to wait. After another 15 minute wait our afternoon tea arrived. My husband who was starving by this point was just about to tuck into the savories when I detected a smell of fish. It transpired that there were 2 salmon tartlets which were also touching the sandwiches. I immediately removed them from the plate and took them to the server who confirmed that these were indeed salmon! What point of a seafood/fish allergy do they not get. I immediately asked to see the manager and he agreed that this was completely unacceptable. I did feel that some of the staff did not appreciate how serious this could have become if my husband had eaten one of these tartlets. We did not eat any of the afternoon tea after this as we simply could not take any chances. A refund was given but this definitely did put a dampner on what should have been a lovely birthday treat.
