Arrived at the cafe with two grumpy children. It wasn’t clear initially what the children’s menu was. The lady serving, Helen, helped by explaining the different hot and cold options. She was fab with the kids, including them in the conversation, and having a bit of fun with them. Once we’d sat down she brought out colouring sheets and pens. The food was nice, generous portions. A good experience all round, we will return.

Grace served us in the cafe and was excellent. She went the extra mile to make us comfortable, and explained the special offers, and showed kindness towards my elderly wheelchair bound mother.

Food is obviously more expensive than it used to be and comes without garnishes now so you have to buy things to go with say the burger. They didn’t have the first choice 3 bean chilli. Service was very slow and it wasn’t very busy- 30 mins for 2 burgers. Disappointing- we used to love it before the pandemic.

Visited waitrose cafe with the wife for a quick bite, half full as joined queue of 2. 10 mins later with grumbling in front on how long it was taking I was next but one. Another 6/8 mins and we ain't moved!! Text my good lady in restaurant to say we best give it a miss. I just can't understand how hard it is to serve a few people a tea and bun etc... No staff seemed to be rushing, nobody was making people welcome or informed and I received no feedback from instore after been told I would(e mailed). I had a deli for 15 yrs and its shocking to see how things are run. Worst experience in any cafe on not even getting served only gave 1 as had to.

Lisa and Helen are back in the cafe making the perfect drinks. Their lattes, flat whites and cappuccinos are the best I’ve ever had. Amazing service from them both as well.

Popped in with two friends to get a quick plate of soup and a hot drink at just after 2pm on a Tuesday. There were just two people in front of us and no one behind so thought we should get sorted quickly. The nice lady on the till took an absolute age to sort the couple out. Then once she had taken their order she vanished into the back catering area leaving us stood there!! Another attendant came to take our order for 3 soups of the day ( a gorgeous Harissa/ chickpea/ veg/ raita and flatbread) plus hot drinks. If you ordered a hot drink you got 25% off the soup which was a great offer. We sat down and waited a full 10 minutes for the soup to arrive. I have to say it WAS delicious, piping hot and plentiful. We went up, by arrangement, to ask for the hot drinks and to be fair they came quickly. The cafe is spotless, a nice selection of papers, tables really clean but goodness knows what the place is like if it’s busy and you had to queue!!! It felt like they had had lunchtime and were on a go slow!! What a shame as they have an excellent menu but frankly service lets it down.

Had a full English breakfast. I would have to say that the quality of the food is better than most other supermarkets but at nearly 50% more than Sainsburys offering it ought to be. The bread they use for toast is not right as it's far too hard and they do the same thing with bacon sandwiches. Putting it in a bowl instead of a plate is just plain silly as it ends up with the food badly presented with items on top of each other. The bacon has an odd taste. I can only assume it's smoked but they should offer a choice. Service is a bit erratic and some of the staff need to go back to charm school. Now that they no longer offer a free coffee to card holders it's actually quite expensive as you will get a better quality breakfast with coffee and orange juice included for less in a proper restaurant like Cote with full table service and a much better dining ambience.

This was the second time I’ve visited this cafe. Both experiences have been more than dissapointing. We had to cancel our order last time as we waited 20 minutes for toast to find nobody had put it on. Today I stood at the counter for a good 5 minutes while the lady who was serving finished her conversation with her work colleague about her family. I paid for my drink and pastry and she turned to carry on the conversation. I then had to get her attention again as she hadn’t taken the lid of the drink. I like to give all places a second chance but I doubt I will give it a third chance. What a shame!

Waitrose Café staff here are excellent. They seem helpful, friendly and courteous. With a Waitrose card, coffee and tea can be purchased for free if something to eat is purchased in the cafe. A take out drink can be bought for free if goods have been purchased in the shop. Waitrose sell good tea and coffee. All are of a great quality. They have started selling breakfast all day. This can be ordered as long as they are not too busy. A choice of newspapers are available for the general public to read in the cafe. Food served is food that can be bought from the Waitrose grocery shop. For example the scones and soup. Toasted tea cake is my recommendation here. I would like to see Waitrose making food fresh onsite, but can see the impracticality of this. It becomes extremely busy at certain times of the day here. So pick your time to eat carefully.

With Waitrose's up north as scarce as hens teeth I called in for a thirty pence coffee to check it out. Despite it being 2pm I was the only person in the queue so was served quickly. My coffee tasted good and the cafe area is close to the entrance and if a reasonable size. Most of the day's newspapers were on hand and free to read which was most welcome. Recommended.

Love this cafe, although it does get busy and noisy but then most supermarket cafes do. Gorgeous cakes and the coffee is really nice. Free newspapers to read is always a bonus here.

It's ok. Food is very pricey but always nicely presented. It's difficult to have a conversation because of scraping chairs and the noise levels. I took a disabled friend and he found it very stressful.

Ordered Focaccia with mozzarella and tomatoes and a burger and chips along with 2 cappuccinos. The Focaccia was small, microwaved and fairly tasteless. The burger was in cheap buns and again tasteless with frozen reformed chips. Coffees average. I expected better from 'Waitrose' but it seems the 'label' does not match the quality. Big corporations don't care and I am reminded why I try to find locally run eateries as they do!

Good cafe with good food from a reasonable range albeit less than most pure cafes. Prices are reasonable. The service is warm and helpful. The seating relatively tight. As supermarket cafes go this is up there with the best and great if you want a drink and light bite whilst out shopping

Although I thought the prices were a little steep, the very clean café and high standard of fare was as expected from Waitrose. My bacon sandwich was OK at best, but the coffee's were hot and clearly made from good beans. Very tasty!

This facility provided by Waitrose supermarket is a very welcome retreat from the shopping. Good coffee, scones and attentive staff. The waitrose philosophy shines through helped by free coffee and a free newspaper (with waitrose card and appropriate spend). It has a lot to recommend it.

Otley has a dearth of decent cafe's. Either they are too small or too odorous, smelling of chips and over-used fat! But this one is an out and out winner! Clean cafe, fresh snacks and pastries and polite and cheery staff and often the drinks are free if you have a Waitrose card. What's not to like? I often meet friends here rather than in town as the parking is easier and we can have a wander round the store too

The food is always nice and well above average for a supermarket cafe and you would be hard pushed to find a better one. The food is consistently good and I like the coffee and the tea. It is very clean and organised behind the counter and the cakes are all under cover which is lovely. It's a really good cafe.

Visited for first time today. Got my free drink with waitrose card, which was good, and a fruit scone costing £1.50. Not bad for the price, but scone was a little doughy- needs to be crispier- and served with a choice of butter or spread. A small cafe with a small menu at fairly reasonable prices (depending on what you choose). However what let it down was the staff member who made no eye contact, smiles or communication as she was far too busy discussing her work rota with another staff member.

We regularly visit the Waitrose café for a coffee and croissant or toasted teacake before shopping. We have a Waitrose card which means we get a free coffee if we buy something else as well and with the croissants and pots of Duchy Jam being so delicious,it would be silly not to! Very often nowadays we have our small (nearly two yr old) grandson as well. There are highchairs which are sometimes tricky to place as the cafe does get very busy. The staff are always pleasant and helpful. The table clearing isn't always what it should be but are cheerily and obligingly cleared and cleaned if you do have to ask. The cappuccino is great for my taste and my husband always enjoys a pot of tea. Our grandson always enjoys visiting.mit us a pleasant environment. There is a rack of papers to choose from if you linger. There is a jug of iced water on the counter so you can help yourself which our grandson enjoys. The food used in the cafe is the same as they sell in the shop so,min that respect it is like M&S cafes. We were there once recently when a food inspector was inspecting and he didn't look perturbed! Would recommend.

Good old Waitrose cafe is great for a quick snack and a free hot drink with your Waitrose Card. It's a pleasant cafe, with lovely staff and a bit of an upmarket feel for a supermarket cafe. But there again it's what you'd expect from Waitrose.

It wasn't very busy and we decided to try a sandwich and coffee before continuing shopping. What a fiasco. The person before us suddenly produced a card when it had all been totalled so she had to call a supervisor to invalidate the sale. Is it really necessary to provide customers with a free coffee as It took so long for this person to be served I wondered whether it would have been quicker going into the town but we stuck it out and after a very long wait we were served. The coffee we had was so strong it was not drinkable even after putting in two lots of milk. The cafe itself is very small and squashed, not really enough space to sit down in comfort. I had to move crockery from the table before we could sit down. I cannot fault the food - a toasted sandwich and a chicken wrap and they were both very good.

We’ve just been to the art gallery café for lunch we won’t be going back. They sell scones but they’ve run out of jam What kind of business can’t even organise going to the shop and getting a pot of jam. Leeds city council should be ashamed of themselves.

I took a walk to the bakery to see if they supplied fresh bread. I checked the opening hours and when I arrived it was closed. Wasted journey. Looks a nice place from the outside though.

A large, airy and light-filled pub (for a change) with plenty of outside seating near the City Museum- a short hop from culture to chaos! The young workers were efficient, very hard-working and helpful. What is distinctive about this place (and its saving-grace) is that it has a sufficient number of students to keep the place on an ‘even keel’ (for example, talk of Trump’s superior IQ is, mercifully, rare). TOP TIPS: (1) choose outside or gallery seating for a relatively blissful experience ; (2) in general, choose a Spoons having a reasonably high proportion of students (albeit with a modicum of immaturity and ‘lively’ behaviour). In this way, relative sanity and intellect may well prevail.
