Food is OK,service can be slow if you are in a queue, although staff are pleasant enough. The menu is somewhat limited, and some items are not always available.

A pleasant break in our journey. Pleasant room with plenty of space and uncluttered. Although the menu is a tad limited, we got what we wanted and it was good. Sad that druggies doing their trade infest the nearby path - but that isn't the store's fault.

We came for breakfast, not knowing if they offered cooked breakfasts, or just a croissant and coffee. Well they offer both. We had a very nice traditional breakfast, served efficiently. The staff were friendly, and the place was clean, with no uncleared tables. A good way to start the day.

I've been to other Waitrose cafes and they have been fantastic. This one however is the complete opposite. It was truly awful. Tried to order something off the children's menu for my 3year old daughter but everytime I had chose something for her required a 5 min conversation in the kitchen with the chef to be told that they had low supplies and could not make it. This happened at least twice. My partner also ordered the vegetable soup to find out it had chicken in it when he had started to eat it (t Soup options were not written down anywhere and he was told verbally that it was 'vegetable soup'. Good job he isn't a vegetarian. I had ordered a club sandwich but that turned up stone cold. Worst club sandwich I've ever tasted. The cherry on top was that there were no forks and we had to wait for someone to wash them after our food had arrived. It was one thing after the other and put us off ever going again. The cafe staff are appalling and it is obvious that they have no idea what they are doing.

Went to Waitrose with my girlfriend and her mum to help her shopping. Had worse experience in the quick check out . Got stopped once again to have our shopping checked, which given that we have had this happen three times out of six- this is by no means a quick check! We then queried this and the woman made a quip about it being a family day out, which given that my partners mother is suffering with anxiety about Covid and hence we go with her, this is not ideal. We then asked if her bags could not be checked but we were ignored. Once 11 items were re scanned, we then had to do a full scan of 68 items!! By this point we were all feeling like criminals and asked if we could simply go to a normal check out. However this has not possible and the same woman then had to rescan everything- with people looking. Afterwards we escalated to the manager and were offered a free sandwich each at the restaurant. I found the whole experience embarrassing and was disappointed with the rudeness of some of the staff, we spend £150 a week and it has put us off going back now. Very disappointing! My mother in laws anxiety has been sparked off by this episode and we won’t be returning.

I have yet to come to this branch but intend, as my Local Waitrose in Wollaton has just shut down to most people's disgust, as also knocking the whole building down to build a Lidl. Newark or Mountsorrel are the nearest !!! Looking at the reviews it seems that the cafes are much the same, unfriendly staff that take all their time to smile or speak !! I did complain to management and was told they were aware and it was under review..... Nothing happened !! What is the problem ?? why as an upmarket supermarket has it not been sorted ?

I came expecting a lot as Waitrose is meant to be high end products so was expecting high end in the cafe which I was very disappointed. The breakfast I received had an over cooked poached end cheap sausages plus the hash brown wasn’t cooked , my daughters breakfast came and had missing items which we had to rectify and my sons eggs Benedict was the most worryingly all the sauce tasted like cheese sauce and the eggs were hard I love eggs benedict but I’m glad I didn’t order it from here as either they don’t know how to make hollandaise sauce or they got it out of a packet , and pouched eggs should be runny not hard very very disappointed to say the least . The only two things which make me give you two stars are the coffee and the staff .

I have visited the cafe on a number of occasions, and agree with a number of other reviewers. Someone needs to sort out the staff. Recently I visited around 3.pm and there were three other tables with people at them, so not busy. I ordered the Welsh Rarebit (Hardly complicated) and it took ages to come, the staff were standing around the kitchen entrance chatting, at one stage there was no-one at the counter. I spoke to one of the staff to enquire how long before I got my food. She said she would find out and went into the kitchen (I could see from where I was what was going on) and she spoke to someone, but stood there for a while, had a drink herself and chatted for a while. Eventually my food arrived with no apology. I had expected her to tell me what was happening instead she just stood there chatting. I only went there in desperation. The whole section needs sorting, with good management and staff who care. This is not good for Waitrose and the Partners are generally extremely professional and friendly and very helpful but not so in the Cafe. Come on Waitrose get a grip. The food was delicious once it arrived!!!!!!!

The title says it all really. The pull for Waitrose and this cafe was the great idea of a free drink after or before your food shop. They have withdrawn this offer now. The service is poor, the food served there is unimaginative, overpriced and limited in stock and quality and the cafe itself is dirty and not regularly cleared. Avoid.

Visited early this morning but astonished to find they had no orange juice! This is a supermarket for goodness sake. Why on earth did the person behind the counter not offer to go and get one from the store? Do they have any management control at all in this cafe?

Waitrose is the second largest supplier of coffee in the UK. You would never know it in here. Staff are awful - slow, lazy, don’t clear tables, etc. When there is a queue, they don’t change their speed from “go slow” at all. This place needs a professional manager, to wind up the frankly appalling staff.

Popped into the cafe for coffee and a cake, we had to wait quite a while to be served...staff chatting and laughing in an area near to the till, we eventually got served, only a couple of sad looking cakes on display, so decided on just coffee...went to sit down and I counted 10 uncleaned/ uncleared tables, the cafe looked untidy .I noticed an elderly lady standing at the till waiting to be served, also I could see the (young ) staff again standing chatting away...she stood for more than 5 minutes ! Poor customer service Waitrose..we will not be coming back.

The staff are young and friendly (despite being a bit flustered by an abundance of middle class elderly ladies moaning at them) Hot choc and a cake £3.70 - quite reasonable. However the hot choc did taste like washing up liquid. There was one lady cleaning tables, clearing up etc and I saw her a couple of times in the hour I was there.

I came here to meet my friend for lunch on a Friday I was late. She was able to sit and wait as there is plenty of seating. The service is canteen style you collect your drinks and carry on a tray to your table. Hot food is delivered to you by a number system. My friend had the soup which came with a nice size roll and butter portions. It was tomatoes and basil. This was nice and arrived hot. I had a sandwich which was pre-made and was from a selection in the chiller cabinet. We had mineral water each in glass bottles and tea and cappuccino. Slight mix up as we were served a black coffee first but the simply changed it when error was pointed out.Cafe is busy with shoppers, but is cleaned quickly as tables empty. It is not to noisy we managed to have a good conversation without interruptions and without being overheard. My friend has a Waitrose card got free coffee.Enjoyable time will call again.

Just had breakfast here and it was awful to be quite honest. I ordered scrambled eggs and tomato on toast. The toast had only been toasted on one side and by the fatty taste of it it had been chucked on the griddle rather than actually toasted under a grill or toaster. The eggs has been reheated and looked old and rubbery. What always gets me about this place as well is the unyielding till that can't allow changes such as Poached egg with a breakfast or extra bacon instead of mushrooms etc. Would like to praise the staff though, they are always friendly, it's not their fault. Won't be returning.

Myself and my girlfriend stopped here on our way back up north. We needed a few bits of groceries and thought a quick snack would be great. This was not a good experience. The Cafe was fairly quite only 2 other people in the queue before us. However it took at least 10 minutes to get served. We ordered on hot drink and a hot chicken sandwich and a chicken wrap. After about 30 minutes at which point we were ready to leave, the food arrived. The Wrap was terrible, it wasn't wrapped correctly so was not easy to eat without having to use a knife and fork, and the filling was very sparse. The hot chicken sandwich (£6.95) was a major let down. 3 chicken goujons with a tomato and some floppy salad in an over sized bun, with a tin of oven chips, all served in a bowl....which was odd. Using waitrose own ingredients I could of made the same meal several times over for the price we paid.I would of complained there and then but the fact that the place was being run by teenagers it would have been somewhat pointless. Not a Happy customer and will not be dining in the cafe again.

Went in on Saturday 2nd January. It was packed but only one till and one person making drinks. Massive queue. They said food would take twenty minutes but it was closer to half an hour and it was only a bowl of soup and a few chips. Given that it is often rammed the management should do something otherwise people will vote with their feet and go up the road to Gannets.

We decided to pop in to the Marlborough Waitrose café for dinner as we had a long day and didn't want to cook. The young lady serving was very polite and friendly and when one of the items we wanted wasn't available, she suggested some alternatives. The café was clean, and we were able to find a table quickly. The food was with us in less than 15 minutes - it looked lovely and was hot. My son is normally picky, but he ate everything on his plate. Very pleased with the service, and cost. Will definitely use again.

I've used this clean and convenient cafe many times, and not just for the free tea/coffee. The cakes and pastries are delicious (my favourite is the vanilla cheesecake) and I particularly like the way each item has the calorie content shown on the label - very useful to help in making your selection. But the star attraction for me (and my husband) is their bacon sandwich. Every time we've had one the bacon has been crispy, well cooked and plentiful - 8 (yes, eight) rashers in one bun. Yum yum! It certainly sets you up for a waltz down the aisles with a trolly.Practical notes: clean loos; clean and bright cafe - and the staff have always been polite and helpful - exactly what you'd expect from John Lewis. But a place for people to leave their used trays could be useful and help to clear tables more efficiently, as I've seen in other Waitrose cafes.

I have visited this cafe on many occasions but on this one we decided to have a full meal here. There was a long queue but we ordered 2 burger and chips meals and 2 pots of tea. We were told there would be a 10 min wait. After 20 mins the food eventually arrived and although beautifully presented we found the underneath of my mothers burger was totally raw and the juices had seeped into the bun. My meal was fine though. We returned my mothers meal and another 20 mins later it eventually arrived. (40 mins after the order) The food was good but we were disappointed with this incident. Many people around us were also experiencing long delays and some had parts of their orders missing. We have reported this to the management and hopefully they will be able to get to the root of the problem. I would return and give them another chance though!

We’ve been working away from home for the past five weeks and have eaten at The Post Office in Newark almost every night. It’s become our go-to spot! The staff here is fantastic, always welcoming and attentive—Kenzie, in particular, has been amazing, making sure we’re well taken care of each time we come in. They even switch the sports channel to our local team’s games, which makes us feel right at home. The food is top-notch! We had the Jingle Bell Beef burger, and it was excellent—perfectly cooked with incredible flavor, paired with crispy, beer-battered onion rings. We can also highly recommend the mixed grill and fish and chips—both were delicious and generous portions. The beer selection is solid too! If you’re looking for great food, friendly service, and a spot to catch a game, The Post Office is the place to be. We’ll definitely miss this place when we head home! ( coffee & smashed glass )
