Who designed this? Soulless bland cafe selling usual Nothing inspiring at all, from the food to the decor. As far I can see the food is just put in blast oven it used to be cooked properly. This place ok for coffee if you don’t mind waiting The ‘food’ takes ages

Cafe and toilets handy for meeting friends. Remember your Waitrose loyalty card and get your rewards. Bread cakes and deli must be visited to taste the wonderful variety. Great produce selection in the main shop

Awful ,dismal and very cold coffee shop. Unwelcoming at best. This Waitrose has been in a steady decline for several years . We no longer do a weekly shop here . Just use it as a corner shop now . Shame.

Awful new Waitrose shop. No hot chickens. Tiny fish counter. No continental meats, or rather a very small selection. Smaller cheese section. Deli section now reduced. Chicken section reduced. And now we have a dull Japanese suchi bar, which in Lichfield is a joke. I don't rush in to buy sushi, I used to rush in to buy a hot chicken! We now have homeware, dull. And a larger alcohol area. Why? We have Been robbed again by management who think more about money than customer service! Waitrose has become a miserable experience, with a reduced real people checkout and more AI. It feels less exclusive and more corporate. This is something that Waitrose shoppers didn't want. A horrible refurb, awful presentation, bad choices qnd not what we want.

What an absolute disappointment. This cafe used to be a lovely place to have a coffee and meet local friends. I admit it needed some freshening up, but whoever designed this needs to rethink. The area is similar to an everyday quick stop cafe in the high street. The prices are expensive but previously this was okay as such a relaxing place. The design is not welcoming at all, dark and dismal. Coffee now served in mugs not cups and saucers, meaning coffee stains on tables. No where to put spoons, empty sugar packs, a disgrace for the Waitrose image. I will be going over to the pub opposite if I want a coffee. Coffee was cool too. On a plus side the staff are lovely. So very disappointing, this was a place for a treat. No newspapers provided now either.

Visited the newly refurbished ‘Waite and Rose’ cafe within the refurbished store. Conclusion? Underwhelming. Was hoping it would be on a par with the excellent cafe in the Uttoxeter store but the range of food on offer in Lichfield is much more limited than it was before and the counter area dark and unwelcoming. On the plus side the new tables are a welcome improvement - the old ones were very tatty though the badly needed new flooring has already (after two days) been badly scuffed. Whoever thought it a good idea to put the outside tables in a line with the trolleys clearly didn’t think very much about how unwelcoming it would be and how, other than a bit of sun first thing the tables would be in the shade most of the day. Overall the refurbishment of the store hasn’t been a success as far as this customer is concerned and the self service tills (half of which were out of operation this morning) are a nightmare, much more sensitive than the previous ones - they don’t like prepackaged fruit or light goods meaning that staff are constantly having to reset them. Honest customers can get really frustrated with machines that treat them like thieves, delivering messages like ‘put the item in the bag’ when it’s already there. On the plus side, the patience of staff in dealing with what they clearly don’t like either is to be recommended.

A cafe inside Waitrose and very wide choice of food on offer. Had to queue no table service but place usually busy but plenty of places to sit. Able to borrow a daily newspaper from the newspaper rack while in cafe.

Clean store with ample parking and friendly staff. Also the shelves are always well stocked and there is toilets and a cafe on site.

I WAS a regular customer of Waitrose in Lichfield until I witnessed very poor treatment of a young lady on the car park being treated like a criminal yesterday,.. I watched with my husband whilst she explained and clearly paid for her shopping whilst showing her receipt and standing her ground. She was cornered by a burly female security guard (who’s attitude I’ve questioned many times whilst in store with other customers) and two female shop assistants or managers. I watched the young lady walk away with all her shopping distressed & I was very concerned for her welfare driving away . I WILL be contacting head office and I shall put myself forward as a witness if need be. SAMANTHA WOOD

A long wait for food at the cafe. Understaffed clearly although pleasantly served. The young boy didn’t know what he was doing allowing the young girl to do and take all the responsibility.

Have just returned after grabbing a few items so went to the cigarette till. A young man served me, he only used one hand whilst the other remained in his pocket, he didn’t tell me how much it had come to, this is a real bugbear of mine. I know it’s on the till but I still think it polite to be told the total, some might say it’s old fashioned but hey if politeness is old fashioned then call me old fashioned ! After paying he mumbled something or other and by the time I’d got to the end of the counter he let out an audible groan. If he doesn’t like or want his job there are plenty of people who do, especially at the moment.

So sad that the lights have changed to the migraine giving type resulting in me coming home twice recently with migraine when I normally only get them 2-3 times a year The meat counter lights now make the meat look insipid and not so lovely in colour Not all your changes are good for customers Why do you need the lights so bright surely the staff will suffer too? Looks like need to shop elsewhere Sorry my favourite store too

I use Waitrose nearly ever day. The staff are very friendly and you are not just a number. I could mention some of them by name. The café is good and if you like almond croissant then they are to die for.

Having caught up with a few bits of shopping and too early to move on to our next call, it was time to pop into the cafe at Waitrose for a bite to eat with pot of tea. Service was swift and efficient, decaffeinated tea available too, thank you. Great to see the decaffeinated tea pot being labelled as to contents. Cheese scone fresh and light, just right for a snack - lovely. The cafe is clean, with reasonable spacing between tables. Seating is nothing more than basic by and large. Ironically, the soft seating (2 club chairs) is right next to the service area for assistants. One table offered better seating (padded) for 4 people. The walls are totally bare, not an image of any kind on them. The toilets are there, thank you for having these, but must surely be on the refurbishment list, or approaching the deep clean process at least. We will call again at this venue, as it does have the advantage of being midway on an occasional long journey for us; it does provide the old adage of a loo and a brew, if nothing else.

I’m absolutely disgusted by the costumer service I have just experienced in Waitrose. I went in just two grab two things for myself and I had to make another purchase for my mom. I apologised and said I needed to make another sale. Instead of being polite. She very bluntly said I could of done it all together and chucked the change into my hand and stormed off. I didn’t get her name but she had a Pixi Cut and blonde hair. This is not the costumer service I or anyone would expect from Waitrose

Visited today with my husband at lunchtime. We were really surprised when we got to the checkouts to find only two tills open for trollies with customers queing. The customer in front of us had a large shopping trolley full of shopping so it took a long time for her shopping to be scanned. Surely someone should be monitoring these queues and open up another checkout if necessary. It is not fair to the assistants or the customers. Very poor customer service for what is normally a nice place to shop.

I have had so many terrible experiences in this store. The crime rate is so bad. My wallet has been stolen, I've seen a man stuffing chocolate bars in his pockets and another stealing something else. I've decided to use another store completely.

Lovely place to enjoy a light lunch in a clean, pleasant atmosphere. The coffee is excellent, my favourite snack are the fruit scones. The staff are very pleasant,service good, clean , accessible toilets. Nice to relax with friends or family. Highly recommend.

Very disappointing cafe these days. Whenever there’s a special offer there’s always very limited availability of the offer in the cafe, come to that the cafe is open for another two and a half hours and despite a shop full of cakes there are only five cakes/tarts available in the cafe.Mind you it’s now 4.00 and there’s lots of coconut flavoured porridge left on display.

Right now (November) you can get a free mince pie or cookie with your coffee as long as you show your My Waitrose card - why wouldn't you?! The mince pie was delicious and tastes even better when it is free. This is a nice little coffee shop to pop into before or after you have done your shopping.

Love the supermarket but the cafe seems quite pricey. Noticed there was an offer on for a half priced slice of Victoria sponge if you bought a coffee - it was the smallest slice I’ve ever had in a cafe. Won’t fall for that again.

Waitrose’s policy of pay for your ‘barista’ coffee and have a free almond croissant/Bircher muesli/slice of loaf cake didn’t last long. ‘They didn’t send us almond croissants or muesli this morning and we’ve only got limited varieties of loaf cake; the offer is subject to availability.’

I always like shopping at Waitrose because in the main it is very wheelchair friendly, with wide aisles and no products piled up on corners. In the main the staff are usually very helpful too, in reaching goods for me that I cannot.

If you are early enough you can get a sandwich but if you are late there will only be one tuna mayonnaise left. They always run out of cold Diet Coke but you can usually get another sugar laden drink. I really like their bread and tend to buy to much alcohol. I go here far to often and I am slowly spending my sons inheritance one trip at a time. I would totally recommend going here!

Waitrose are not the cheapest but, do have a lot of good quality offers throughout their store. their customer care is first class as on my last visit a few days ago one of their offers could not be fulfilled as part of the offer was sold out having explained our disappointment the store manager substituted what we intended to have with a meal for two at no cost just on the interest of keeping valuable customers First class action by the manager made me feel valued full marks to him and the store on top of that free papers and a coffee to warm you up on a cold night.

This is the best food supermarket in the area we go daily and it is always the same totally first class with service from the staff to match. We travel all over the UK and find this level of quality in all third stores one only hopes that this never changes as I have noticed moves that are obviously done by the accountants with a view to cut back a little this would be a very big mistake from the customers point of view

As always a good quality breakfast served by eternally patient staff. They have to put up with the influx of what looks like day trippers who spend half an hour deciding if they should have a bacon butty or a sausage roll. Dear God have them both and spare a thought for the locals who are standing 6 deep behind them waiting for the day trippers to make their minds up! Anyway well done the staff.

Called in here today before we headed home from a short break in Staffordshire. The cafe itself looks a bit like an afterthought and I wonder if it was added to the store after it opened? The lady who served us looked a bit untidy - not like the staff in my local store. We only had hot drinks and scones but whilst I paid my husband commented that the floor behind the counter needed a deep clean. The knife I picked up was dirty but swiftly removed when I passed it across the counter. The only free table was at the far end of the cafe where it was very draughty (and near the toilets!). Lots of lone older customers hogging tables for 4, including one man who had all the newspapers in front of him with one hand on top as if they were his personal property! Not a great experience.

I visited this store today to do my shopping but decided to have something hot before i went round. However i won't be doing that again as the meal was cold halfway through because the air con was blowing down on me all the time so i left it needless to say i went elsewhere to do my shopping where they had heat in the store as well as the cafe.

Nice hot toasted breakfast sandwich with salad very nice but lacked a little taste Macaroni cheese was tasty but very little cauliflower Coffee and tea good as usual Thank you ladies

Very nice staff now serve jacket potatoes - a welcome addition. The cafe is often very busy but staff cope well and do their best to ensure you have what you need

Everyone thinks Waitrose is overpriced and for executive people...rubbish, good food at competative prices. Give it a go, you'll be surprised. Oh, and the staff are very friendly and approachable.

Better than most supermarket cafes, staff were good, range and quality of food is good, good place to visit if you are shopping in the store but location is isolated so not worth travelling to

went for coffee and cake was a very slow service with staff talking to each other instead of serving no manners

We always look forward to having a cake/ sandwich with a cup of tea at Waitrose. Being lactose intolerant I can chose any sandwich as they do not contain any dairy and there is no problem asking for soya milk, unlike another supermarket that suggests you bring your own milk because they won't supply any other only cows milk.

Whether it's the ladies on the meat counter, or the fish counter, the cakes, the reception, the cafe or the manager who carts round his I pad with him, they are all great - very professional and friendly. Always helpful.

This is a very handy local café where you can enjoy a snack and a latte before or after your shopping trip. Free parking outside with no time limit (a rarity these days), plus you can now sit outside when the weather is pleasant (not many days when I can do that at the moment though!). If you sign up for the My Waitrose card you get a free coffee or tea when you purchase a snack to eat in the café. If you are just popping in for a coffee go to the Welcome Desk and you can get one there without having to buy any food.

Lovely staff, nice food and very well cooked always nice to go in and have whatever you fancy after having done all your shopping .the only thing I would say is it could be a little bit bigger for a shop like that, it does get rather busy.

I telephoned the store on the 9 December to place an order for Christmas Eve and was told that there were no collection times left for Christmas Eve collections. I told the member of staff that I couldn't believe it and asked for their customer services section to check what she had told me. She gave me their telephone number.

Nice cafe with reasonable choice of snacks. Limited hot food. I wouldn't make a special journey but good if in the area or shopping. Better than your standard supermarket cafe but not quite a Costa.

We pop and have coffee in the cafe when visiting Wait-rose because we like to take advantage of the free drink even though you now have to make a purchase with the coffee so hardly feels free anymore ! We usually buy a bottle of water because the food always looks very unappetising and I've never been in there when I haven't had to clean the table before sitting down .The younger staff are usually pleasant but the older ones can be rude and unhelpful and we have plenty of experience here because we use at least once a week because we shop here about three times a week.

Hadn't had breakfast, had time to spare so popped into the cafe. Couldn't decide between toasted sandwich or tea cake. Assistant suggested sausage sandwich which I had on ciabatta. Couldn't quite believe it when she picked up one of those huge swirls of sausage and stuck it between the ciabatta bread but I thought I'll give it a try. I needed lots of tomato sauce as it was very dry and really just too much to have as a sandwich, especially on dry bread, not too hot either. Wish I'd had the toasted sandwich. The latte was lovely, nice and hot and staff were friendly, suggested I got a Waitrose card when I can get a free drink after purchasing so many. Will visit again but no sausage next time.
