Came to visit Nineteen during a short day trip. All staff were extremely supportive and helpful regarding the circumstances of our adult friend with autism visiting the cafe. All staff were extremely welcoming and thoughtful when supporting us during this visit, going above and beyond to meet any additional needs. Particular staff members even offered some treats/chocolate on the house (free of charge) to further support the vulnerable adult with us. The atmosphere was great and we felt very comfortable during our stay in the cafe. Food and drink options were lovely and the cakes were delicious. Unfortunately the cafe only accepts card payment. This was my first visit to Lichfield and Cafe Nineteen and we will definitely be returning.

Not been since it was Chapters a while back but popped by as I had time on my hands and fancied a coffee. Place is quirky and pleasant enough. Tastefully decorated. Coffee was hot which isnt always the case. Had a teacake which was ok, nothing special. Menu looks standard fare and may come back. A few reviews on here not great but I found the staff (yes they are young) to be fine.

Our experience was great. Both ordered the bacon and egg breakfast sandwiches, asked for bacon to be cooked crispy, it was done to perfection. Coffees and food came out in a timely manner, all the staff were very pleasant. My only feedback, which others have commented on, they have 2 menus on the table, however you can only order food off A4 peice of paper, the larger menu is for drinks only. Would have been good to have a note on the larger menu to actually tell the customers that. As we both choose from the larger menu only to be told when I went to the counter to order that I couldn’t. Other than that , if I was local I would go back

Love this fabulous dog-friendly place perfectly located next to the stunning Cathedral. As ever the food is exceptional- a beautiful and wonderfully satisfying bacon and brie toasted sandwich followed by a warm cherry scone with cream and a latte. My dog enjoyed some bacon and a puppercinno as well. The food is truly exceptional as is the atmosphere and beautiful surroundings. My golden retriever and I used the Tile Cross Room today for a change and like the other rooms, it is beautifully presented and very welcoming. We are already looking forward to returning and trying more on the menu as the hearty soup looked stunning too.

Contrary to others reviews we had good service and food. However I don't know why menus were on the tables that you couldn't order food from. A ridiculous idea and waste of our time, when deciding on food from a very varied menu only to be told we could only order from a much smaller menu.

They gave us menu without informing we needed to order food before 13:00. I went to order just before 13:00 and was in the queue. Suddenly they told us it's 13:00 now no more order for food. If so, why didn’t you tell us when you passed the menu. All you said was we only accept food order from this white menu. If she told us, we could definitely make the order before 13:00. The lady who informed us no order looked really unpleasant with frown, saying there’s a sign in front of the door. But we came in from the assessable door with pushchair and there’s no sign at all. The lady who passed the menu knew we wanted to order the food but said nothing was…. The worst service I ever had in my whole life.

This location and venue has great potential however our experience was that it had an awful atmosphere, dreadful customer service to us and the customers before and after us, to the point of being really uncomfortable and embarrassing. Drinks cold, teabag in teapot burst, scones dry. Reminiscent of Faulty Towers.

We visited Bistro No 19 just over a month prior to this visit and vowed not to return. On that occasion we visited as a party of 5. Staff were disinterested, serving was clearly beneath them and irritated with us as virtually everything we asked for from the menu, they hadn't got. Why not just say what was available! In fact just about all that was available were oat cakes! We ordered coffee which we finished well before any oatcakes came out! We then had to find someone to ask for cutlery. The worst thing was seeing one of the kitchen staff (one of the chefs?) who came into the dinning area bringing food to a table along with one of the servers wearing the most filthy apron I have ever seen. It looked like an exhibit from a crime scene. Another man who was dinning at the time and who seemed to be there with a party from the Cathedral, quietly told him to go and change his apron! We should not have returned. But thinking we would give the place a second chance two of us visited a couple of weeks ago. The place was deserted both customers and staff. We chose food from the menus on the table, waited and when no staff appeared a good 15 minutes later, I had to go and call into the kitchen to find someone. I asked if I could order food (it was mid morning) to be told that there wasn't any and that all that was available were a couple of pathetic looking sausage rolls in what is usually the cake display unit. Literally that was it. This use to be a regular place of ours to visit when it was Chapters and even before. Food and service were always excellent whatever time you went. Unfortunately something drastic seems to have happened under the Bistro No19 name. It certainly won't be a place that we will be visiting ever again. Not with so many other very good places to eat in and around Lichfield. What has happened!!

25 min wait for food, no apology. The waitress serving our food, pushed our drinks out the way with her tray and nearly knocked them over! Oatcakes so over cooked they were hard, we could pick them up!? And scone was undercooked and doughy. Wouldn’t return!

We used to come here when it was Chapters and it was lovely. We were hoping it would be the same but were massively disappointed. The menu is limited and overpriced for what is offered. As we were pushed to find anything we liked and could afford, we opted for drinks and cakes instead. Again, we were massively disappointed when they arrived. I had a scone which was rock hard and only resembled a scone in shape. Other cakes were dry and nothing special. The majority of the staff were young and simply didn't have great customer service skills. We watched several interactions between them and other customers, none of which were good. The place itself is lovely, but seems to be abusing its position right next to the cathedral to rip visitors off. If you're thinking of going here, there are plenty of cheaper and much better places dotted around Lichfield to choose from. Sorry, but we won't be back here. Given the current situation in hospitality, this is sad for me to say. But we're all struggling financially and I'd rather give my money to somewhere that treats and feeds me better.

Food was horrible. Ordered a tuna mayo and sweetcorn jacket potato that came without sweetcorn (they ran out I was told afterwards) and barely any mayonnaise. The side salad was almost inexistant, hiding under the potato which was served on a very small plate. Very disappointing, I thought this café would be a lovely place to eat with my friend. There are plenty of alternative places to eat very close by. For a cafe offering food, they mustn't serve much food. The kitchen closed two hours before the doors did. We went in, queued for 10 mins only to THEN find out the kitchen was closed because they were closing up in 2 hours. The food on the menu was very middle class and totally out of place in such a run down look cafe (inside tables): luckily, we didn't get to taste any, which is great because a sandwich was £12... £12 for just a sandwich-no dressing or side? No thanks.

We visited this cafe on a recommendation. Unfortunately only three out of four meals arrived. They came from the kitchen after a long wait and several minutes between each dish. When asked they said the order hadn't gone through. We heard the (young) staff constantly apologising to customers for long waits and several dishes seemed to being returned. Unfortunately it appeared that the cafe were also catering for an event in the nearby cathedral and seemed overrun. We regretted not knowing this and just asking for coffee rather than a snack.

Maybe today was a bad day to visit for the first time but the service was so slow. I had a frappaccino which was more like a glass of milk with spray cream and a cheap nasty strawberry syrup ... that you'd expect to put on an ice cream. My daughter had an iced latte which arrived after I'd drank my Frap because the waitress was more interested in showing her creation off to the kitchen staff and taking a photo of it!!! Overheard a man saying he'd waited 35 minutes for a toasted tea cake! The waitress tried to assist by offering to put the tea cake in the toaster! Great location but the staff need to improve their service times and the manager needs to 'manage'.

Bistro No 19 is very easy to find in the old part of Lichfield, opposite the Cathedral and well placed for car parking. The eating areas cover different rooms which are Dog Friendly, as is the garden area. A big plus for us! The decor is in keeping with the age of the house - lots of knickknacks and curiosities. We ordered a large and a small breakfast and both were excellent - all freshly cooked and a good selection of items. This was our first visit but we will be back for lunch or coffee and cake soon.

Bistro 19 serves light meals during the day, but not evening. Customers order at the counter, and food and drink are then brought to the table. Those who have written less than favourable reviews perhaps don’t realise that this is the system and have unrealistic expectations – it doesn’t feature in the Michelin Guide! The restaurant/café is ideal for visitors to the Cathedral, and there is reasonably good choice for vegetarians. Prices are modest. When the weather is warm there is pleasant outdoor seating. Staff are friendly and efficient.

So I'm not a great an English coffee fan - is it the water, not sure - because it never ever tastes as good as what we get in Madeira. Coffee in the UK always, always makes my sensitive tummy grumpy... so my husband came back from a visit and said..."I've just had one of the best cups of coffee since our last visit to Madeira". He then offered to take me for a breakfast. So Saturday morning at 11.15 we arrived... we found the surroundings really comfortable, plenty of room, and what I really liked that it was full of families of all sorts, from those with tiny, tiny babies to those who were with parents of a certain age. Anyway, selected what we wanted off the breakfast menu and 2 cups of cappuccino ... I also like to have a glass of tap water with coffee, not a problem. I ordered the pancakes, bacon and maple syrup. This should have come with a fried egg, but I'm not an egg fan, so left this off. My husband had the poached eggs on sourdough. The coffee arrived within 5 minutes, with real chocolate sprinkles - not powder, and yes it did taste delicious! The breakfasts arrived a few minutes later. My husbands looked amazing and he told me tasted fabulous. Mine came in a bowl with the pancakes sitting in the most amazing tasting maple syrup... this was topped with 2 rashers of lovely crispy bacon. However, the next time we go I am going to ask for the syrup to be put in a jug as it made the pancakes a bit soggy. For us the location is lovely, service was exceptional, the value for money was also very good.

I popped into Nineteen for a quick cuppa and a snack while waiting for a car repair. There weren't many tables free but there was one in the small conservatory area towards the back of the restaurant. Much of Nineteen's seating areas are dark (it's a converted house, I think) and there are some steps and tight spaces. So while it's not the most accessibility friendly, this little area is still beautiful - a nice view out onto the garden and full of sunshine. There's no order taken at the table, you have to go to the counter, but all food and drink is brought to you so memorise your table number! I had a toasted teacake (served with a little cup of butter) with a mug of tea for £6 - very reasonable especially in Lichfield. Staff were soft-spoken and young, but friendly. I was able to sit quietly with my food and read, until I was ready to move on. A nice area to drop by near the Cathedral if you're in the area.

We ordered our food, sat down waiting for our food, we happened to see the waitress taking food the same as we had ordered around the cafe except to our table where a cup of tea had already been brought over to my wife and I, We mentioned to the waitress when our order finally arrived we wondered if that was our food that had been taken around the cafe before coming to our table, the explanation.. yes was they thought it was table 30 We have eaten here a few months ago and so different now to then. The food was hard we couldn't even bite into it so we left it.and went elsewhere. We won't be returning ..

I recently had a big, intergenerational party at Bistro 19. We had approx 100 guests ranging from 18-70, a buffet, drinks on arrival and a live band. We had an absolutely fantastic night and the feedback from our guests, reflects our experience. The location, beside...

A very disappointing visit. Sat in the garden, asked one of the waitresses to clean the bench of 2 lots of bird p.. - they had obviously been enjoying black currants! - but she made very little effort and left half the lumps untouched. Sadly,...

We absolutely love this place. The staff are excellent and the food is great. We were fortunate enough for them to cater for our wedding and the food and service were fantastic.

Took forever to make coffee and although cakes looked delicious they were not prepared to cut new ones. Portion of cake was tiny!

This is the place to go if you want an inedible scone and indifferent service. My scone had been put in a microwave for far too long. When it was brought to the table it was too hot to touch. When it cooled down it...

We had no idea this place was opposite the Cathedral. Only noticed it as we walked passed the corner and noticed all the garden furniture initially hidden by the wall. Decided to give it a try as we were desperate for a coffee and something to eat. We sat in the delightful little conservatory/atrium at the rear, which looks out over the main garden area. Noticed that I was seated in the aptly named 'Naughty Corner'. The whole interior is quite stunning and worth a visit simply to check it out. Coffee satisfactory, but the scone, although a decent size to share, was a bit on the dry side. I was a bit torn in deciding if it warranted five stars, then noticed the 'CASH ONLY' sign. Oh dear - an automatic deduction.

Visited on July 28th for the occasion of my nephews wedding. Very nice venue, ideal venue for a small intimate wedding. However the service was very very slow, young inexperienced serving staff delivering one meal at a time! Getting all the food to the table took forever and when it arrived it was cold!!!! Condiments weren’t available and when asked for were provided in small packets, reminiscent of McDonalds, not ideal for a wedding breakfast. Food was scheduled for 18.00 hrs, the mains arrived at about 19.30, by which time the children present were starving. The food was not in my opinion value for money, I only ate my starter & dessert as the main was cold, and not appealing. Should Bistro 19 want to capitalise on its location and increase there wedding offer, they need to seriously up their game!

My husband and I visited the bistro today for a pay day treat. As a coeliac, it's difficult to find good places to eat and even harder to factor in a gluten free dog friendly establishment. Bistro 19 do an amazing cappuccino, which is topped with flakes of chocolate instead of the usual powdered topping (I highly recommend the cappuccino!) We decided to push the boat out and have a full breakfast, as we were both extremely hungry. The ladies on front of house were very friendly and helpful and the lady in particular who took my order was very considerate when it came to food allergies. She even went to the trouble of double checking with the kitchen to ensure I would be able to eat the breakfast, confirming the ceoliac requirement for breakfast with the chef and advising me the food may take slightly longer due to the allergy. Our breakfasts also had some minor substitutions due to preferences (no mushrooms or tomatoes). The plates arrived and I was mortified to see my gluten free full breakfast was reduced to an egg, a small dish of beans and 3 slices of bacon with buttered bread on the side. When I looked across, my husband also seemed to be missing half of his breakfast. I queried this with the young lady who brought the food who, in an awkward situation was very professional. I am never one to make a fuss but politely advised her I needed to reject both plates. We walked inside and were promptly assisted by the manager, who had originally taken the order and a refund was issued. I work within the retail sector myself and will never shout or make a scene, the issue was not anyone's fault. Something had gone wrong at some point but it wasnt a big deal. It's not the mistake that's important, but how the resolution is handled. I was happy to accept their apology and a full refund of the food assuring them I would return. Shortly after this however, we were approached by the chef. Although I appreciate his input, I did feel a little intimidated, as he made me feel as if I was in the wrong for returning the food. Although reiterating to him several times that the everything was resolved and trying to downplay the situation, the chef ploughed on while our dog barked at him for intruding our space. He had completely missed the point that should a gluten free option not be available, we should have been told as soon as possible and certainly before the food arrived. He eventually left, as did we, as quickly as possible. We had already spent an hour and a half overall waiting for food/drinks to arrive. Following this final encounter, we will sadly not be returning, unless there is an issue with the refund (which I'm told needs to be authorised by the owner)

One of the nicest cappuccino I've had in Lichfield, and I've had a lot from nearly all coffee shops. The chocolate orange fudge that was large enough to be a door stop was delightful!

Visited recently, quirky little pub, lovely strip lighting gives a cosy atmosphere, they're a large outside area which is dog friendly, staff were welcoming and the beer was well kept.
