Love this cafe. It’s very convenient for me to visit after school drop offs. Very helpful friendly staff. Sometimes they have special offers for scones so I get coffee and scone for £4 which is great. If there is no special offer then I just get a coffee. Good selection of pastries but not a good selection of cakes. The hot food is all prepacked so I would never try it as it can never be good. I like going to cafes that prepare fresh food (affordable) and nice breakfast which you can’t really find in this Waitrose cafe unfortunately. But I love this cafe for my coffee stops.

Entered the cafe at 4.15 pm - cafe due to close at 6 pm. 3/4 of the tables were out of bounds with chairs placed by staff up on the tables ready for closing time. So all customers were corralled into a tiny space. Asked for coffee and Coke zero (I am diabetic). No Coke zero in the cafe so asked if we could bring one from the supermarket. We were told NO. Complained to a manager - still no action taken on either count!

Went into the cafe for coffee and a bacon roll, the store had recently been refurbished, thank god they have a cheese counter in the main store and I was able to all the cheeses I wanted. Cafe a let down though ! I wanted a bacon roll and Waitrose used to do a really good one, before lock down, but now it is a pre-packed one which you have to get heated, just not the same. Another sign of the times. Flat white coffee was OK and the hot chocolate not like Waitrose used to do. Shame and will not bother again.

I went to Tesco before hand to look for a power bank and they did not have any so I brought a few other bits and the left, as it was a Sunday I couldn’t go many other places so I went to go look for a power bank in Waitrose. After looking around I couldn’t see anything but asked a member of staff and he said they do not sell which is fair enough. So I went to go leave and this rude member of staff stoped me and accused me of stealing the stuff that I had just brought from Tesco! Just cause I’m a young female does not mean I go around stealing and even if I did I wouldn’t be stupid enough to leave it at the top of my bag! Do not think it’s appropriate to go around accusing people of stealing when I done nothing to give that impression. I felt violated would not recommend going in there if you young you might be accused aswell.

Visited cafe today. Bought tea for two and a small cake. Tea was too strong so went to counter to ask for more hot water. Surprised to be charged 45p for this. Never had this problem in any other cafe. The place was practically deserted and perhaps one can see why.

Since the refurbishment we’ve been trying to avoid Waitrose. It used to be cosy, now it feels cold and clinical. The lighting is harsh and bright. The aisles feel longer and uniform. There is a much expanded homewares section except there is nothing very nice in it. I looked for wineglasses but only found essential wine glasses with nothing better to look at. Tesco’s in Tring has a more friendly feel.

The old cafe had a good selection of hot and cold foods. Since the refurbishment and reopening at the weekend the seating area has improved but the food offering is poor! The hot counter has gone with its tasty options! Fortunately Berkhamsted is not short of other options offering better selections. What were you thinking refurbishment team?! You have let Waitrose down.

Cafe menu is very limited and very expensive. Was looking for a cafe to get out the rain for a while and was hoping for some hot food. Came into Waitrose thinking would be like Tesco cafe or Morrison’s cafe and could have a good choice maybe even an all day breakfast but no was very disappointed had to have a Tuna melt panini which was small and hard for £4.95😲(they didn’t have the cheese and ham I wanted🙄)and a coke spent £7. Left the cafe still hungry so went to the store and bought something, wish I done this without coming to the cafe as would of got more for my money. Won’t ever use Waitrose cafe again. 😏 on a plus side staff were helpful with the pensioners and carrying there food to there table for them.

Lunch with my mum. Great service. Whilst it was a BH Monday and the store was busy service in the cafe was pleasant and attentive. Toasted sandwiches with salad approx £4. The cheese and caramelised onion sandwich is very tasty. Lots of chairs and tables, good selection of newspapers and magazines to flick through; clean loos too

This cafe was awful. Aside from the long queue because not enough servers, there is a very limited menu. The toasted sandwiches were only toasted on one side meaning the other side was soggy, and therefore inedible. The child’s finger sandwiches were made with smoked ham, surely for kiddies it should be unsmoked? The tangerine in the child’s box had seen better days too. Expected better from Waitrose and won’t be returning.

I lived in Berkhamsted a year now and after today I don’t think I will attempt to visit the cafe again. The staff are always distracted and customer service unlike the rest of the store is hit and miss. The tables are never cleared and it’s quite dirty. So very very sad.

This cafe used to be so much better. We shop in Waitrose Berkhamsted very frequently, and go to the cafe for coffee or soft drinks and cake for our grandchildren. The cake is a bit pricey and sometimes slightly stale, but is convenient to us to go there. Until a couple of months ago we had the occasional lunch there, consisting of a tasty toasted sandwich or a hot meal. However, there are now far less toasties on offer and the hot food has been reduced to bacon butties or sausage rolls. On a recent occasion the tables were so full of uncleared dirty crockery, it was almostimpossible to use them. We were in a hurry today, so took a chance on eating lunch there. I had a goats cheesefflatbread, but it was too unpleasant to eat and I left it. My husband had a baconsandwich, of which half the bacon was cooked to an absolute frazzle. Even the coffee tasted weaker than usual. Surely Waitrose can do better than this.

Lovely staff though tables needed clearing. Food looked dried up late afternoon and most of food counter snacks were uncovered and easily exposed to customers coughing and sneezing over it. Requires covering up for health and hygiene reasons!

I do like a café that supplies newspapers to read and Waitrose has loads. The food is good without being outstanding. It is mainly food you could buy in the store. A bonus is the free coffee, but it is not really to my taste - it's from a press button machine and it has a robust flavour.

I regularly visit this cafe as I often shop in Waitrose. I can honestly say if I didn’t get a ‘free’ drink when making a purchase I wouldn’t do so. The assistants vary hugely in their level of customer service from efficient and fairly pleasant to slow and indifferent. The food choice is limited and orders often have to be chased up as someone starts doing something and then wanders off or starts serving someone and forgets about it. They always seem rather unhappy and as if serving is an inconvenience, taking them away from some more worthwhile task. Waitrose however is an excellent shop.

If they’re at all busy in the cafe, service always slows down to glacial speed. The staff are all very pleasant, but the way they work is out of the Ark. Having said that, the quality of the coffee’s improved recently and it’s free if you’re buying something in the store. I just wish someone would organise the way they work better.

Popped in while passing through the town. Parking is a huge bonus in such places and this Waitrose has plenty. Everything is as expected and considering the amount of customer flow in the store they keep the shelves well stocked, tidy and in order.

I often visit waitrose for a soya latte, being vegan the only food option in the cafe is fruit . Although berkhamsted waitrose have great selection of vegan friendly food. I enquired about adding some vegan options ,sadly they only have space for selected products. But I was more than welcome to buy the vegan products in the store and eat them with my latte . Very nice compromise thank you kindly waitrose for being so accommodating :)

Previously when I have been in this cafe it has been clean--smiling staff--and some where to sit---went in for a cup of tea on Monday and the place was an absolute mess----tables had not been cleaned--trays and trays of used cups etc on most tables and they don't seem to have the stacking trolley where you use to be able to return your empty trays --it looked tired and worn out--and really does need someone to take control and kick it up the backside

About the best place to park in Berkhamsted High Street any day of the week, top quality food, free coffee/tea with a MyWaitrose card and good quality snacks. Two eating areas the larger restaurant and the small coffee bar with a small seating area which I personally prefer. You can buy food from the bakery or deli in the shop and ask the staff to heat it up for you e.g. sausage rolls at the smaller area. Free papers to read and free wifi too.

Great choice of products, love the vegetable section and not to mention the Heston Blumenthal stocks. Good wine and spirit selection too and let me not forget the cheeses. My favorite shop by far and it doesn't have to be expensive either. It just depends on what you buy really.

Went in the Café before going shopping around 1.30 pm, the place was a mess, tables had not been cleared of dirty crockery and discarded food. The cold food on offer was nothing special, a selection of sandwiches using chunky style bread, but having taken a look at the hot food on offer, it was dried up obviously having been there for hours, so opted for a sandwich and a hot drink, the cake selection was extremely limited, appeared they were items not selling well on their instore bakery. There was no queue when we entered, equally there were no staff behind the counter, eventually two staff came from the kitchen, one totally ignored waiting customers, his colleague set about producing hot drinks. For the time of day, the food on offer should have been first class and inspiring with staff appearing they actually enjoyed working there, negativity abounded, the impression made worst by dark and depressing appearance of the Café, both the drinks and the sandwiches were of mediocre quality, overall represented poor value for money. This is the second of two supermarket Cafes we have tried in the town, both upmarket companies, on our next visit we will be looking to eat and drink at an independently operated Café in the hope we can find better customer service and real improvement in the quality off the food we are served.

It is so lovely to see a lovely bakery with items all freshly baked on the premises. The pastry on all their range is amazing, tasty and just the right side of crisp. The fillings are plentiful and delicious. The cake range is eye popping with beautifully balanced ingredients. Lovely rolls and fresh bread. Staff are welcoming and polite and on dry days you can sit outside and watch the day go by. Now, I will talk about the coffee. This unfortunately was a great disappointment. Despite two of us asking for stronger versions, it was to be frank like dishwater. I don't enjoy saying this but I was too embarrassed to say anything at the time. Do not let this distract you from the bakery itself. It is treat to have it on the precinct.

This restaurant is perfect for after a ski lesson. The food and the environment was amazing. Despite there being no Rekorderlig for my husband, I enjoyed a rhubarb gin and lemonade. The staff were very friendly and helpful especially Anisa who we were served by. There were other staff members standing around avoiding work, trying to make jokes with staff on the tills whilst they were serving customers. However it was a brilliant saturday afternoon!

Our table was booked for 1pm, it wasn’t busy, we were given menus, but no offer of a drink. We must have waited for 10minutes with no sign of the only waitress coming over. I decided to go to the bar to order drinks, I was told someone will be with us soon to which I replied but they aren’t!! Finally our order was taken, food delivered, my friend asked for Parmesan cheese, but it never arrived. You had to put your hand up to get attention, no one came over to see if we were happy with everything. We asked for our bill, it was bought to our table and again we waited a good 10minutes, hand in the air to actually pay!!! Food was good, service absolutely appalling, goodness how they would cope if it was busy!!!
