This restaurant is perfect for after a ski lesson. The food and the environment was amazing. Despite there being no Rekorderlig for my husband, I enjoyed a rhubarb gin and lemonade. The staff were very friendly and helpful especially Anisa who we were served by. There were other staff members standing around avoiding work, trying to make jokes with staff on the tills whilst they were serving customers. However it was a brilliant saturday afternoon!

We ordered at the bar , as there is not table order, crispy chciken strips, nothing amazing, however at £8 I did not have huge amounts expectation, Alpine Schnitzel was decent size, the only thing , salad was without any dressing, again at £13 maybe we were expected to bring our own dressing, chicken schnitzel burger was so small that to me looked kid portion, when mentioned the young man , he said sorry, hope you enjoy it and left. Disappointing especially when everything is so expensive as a proper restaurant but only food delivered to the table. I guess company owners must make sure cost saving is meet, fair enough but as customer felt ripped off properly.

I used to go the lodge before and after my ski sessions, which would be 1-3 times a week as I am local to the slope. The food used to be great, cooked fresh, there was a good varied menu which also catered to different diets. They would do daily specials, the food would be vibrant and flavourful. This was a number of years ago, it has gotten worse since. I met my friend for lunch prior to a 2 hour lift pass and decided to try the food here again to see if it had improved. I ordered a hotdog, see picture. Technically it arrived as it was described (written) on the menu, it was vile! My friend ordered chicken strips, which look like they had been fried a few times as they were mostly oil and flavourless. The staff behind the bar overall are not friendly or personable, with the exception of a couple of them who I know personally. They openly discuss and speak badly of other staff members in the bar area and often stand together in a group avoiding work. The food overall has taken a big nose dive in my opinion, it is either microwaved or deep fried from frozen. There are no fresh food options and no options for restricted or alternative diets. The staff are quite rude when it comes to bringing in food, I appreciate that they don't want food brought in and eaten, however if you can't provide food suitable, what are people who suffer with conditions such as crohns and colitis supposed to do. As an example I have a friend that suffers with that disease and had brought in a home made sandwich, there was no packaging from other companies, just clingfilm and she was asked to leave if she wanted to eat it, which is what we did. The drinks are priced okay and they have a good selection available, just don't expect there to be any ice. I would suggest eat elsewhere before coming to ski or snowboard

Lovely food. Been here a few times.. it's been always a good experience. Very nice place. Professional, friendly and polite staff. Free wifi. Easy to order using the QR code on the table or directly at the till. Doesn't take long from order to serving. They have many allergen options including Gluten free buns for the burgers. Not overpriced. Great menu. Fresh hot food. This place is a must try. The ambience is simply superb.. you will feel like you're at a restaurant in the Alps. Even if you're not here for snow activities, this restaurant is a great place for a good vibe.

I thought I’d treat myself to the Lodge breakfast whilst watching my son skiing. When ordering, I was asked for my table number and we’ll bring it over the young girl said. Breakfast arrived several minutes later and was well presented. I looked at the baked beans in a very small pot, I emptied them out on the plate , without counting each individual bean, I would’ve said there were 30 max. The rest of the breakfast went from being just luke warm, to a stone cold very very small tinned plum tomato.

Normally the service in the restaurant is ok. However, today it is appalling. The kitchen has suddenly closed as ‘a chef has not turned in’ (not an unknown occurrence in the hospitality business). There are however many many staff who ‘aren’t ‘trained chefs’ in attendance. I enquired if I could just have one of the simple sandwiches on the menu or any sandwich since these don’t need a chef to make.. I was told ‘no because if we do that for you we’d have to do it for everyone’. When I suggested perhaps they could do that for everyone I was laughed at by what I took to be the supervisor. Apparently the idea that hospitality staff can be flexible and cover for each other and be ‘trained’ in basic things like sandwich making is preposterous. Next I was aggressively told by one of the young serving staff (who now had nothing to serve) who just happened to be walking by (with presumably now nothing else to do) that ‘there is no food and thats the end of it!’ I’ve no idea why she felt the need to get involved. Perhaps because she now had nothing else to do? I then ordered pre-packed nuts and crisps and a coffee coincidentally from the same member of staff. She then brought them to the table and slapped them down in a show of disgust before spinning on her heels and walking off in further show of her views. If The Snow Centre is unable to train it hospitality staff to do simple things and provide the flexibility and robustness good hospitality venues have, perhaps they could at least train them how to speak to customers. Or is that a different departments job?

After losing our ski trip this year due to the covid cancellation,, we were so looking forward to getting back on some snow! And our trip back to the snow centre in Hemel , and on to our snow boards was first class! Slopes were clear, so no worries about covid, everything was in place to give you the distancing you require. What a shame that the food let the visit down..... WHAT HAS HAPPENED??? £50.00 (£49.60) worth of Deep fat fried C**p (so called Chicken Schnitzel, Hot dogs??)...that I wouldn't feed to my dog..what a shame that the food let down such a good time on the slope. PLEASE SAVE YOUR MONEY and pop down the road for something more digestible and much cheaper! I would have given 5* for the Slope experience, but have given 2* because experience was soured by the food....Real Shame.

Popped in for dinner after visiting Father Christmas with the kids. The grotto part was fab and the staff were lovely. The food in the restaurant wasn’t great. The nachos were awful and had to be changed once. The new ones were just as bad. Shame when you are spending £7-8 and it’s just a bag of crisps on a plate with dips plonked on top. There was no melted cheese. My son had macaroni cheese and this was very bland and cold. We won’t rush back

Not many places are open on New Year’s Day, but the Hemel Snow Centre and The Lodge Bar & Kitchen was, so decided to head there for a late lunch (on our way back from another attraction where the catering facilities were overwhelmed with visitors). I have not had “Tartiflette” for a long while, so paid my £10 and waited to see what would arrive. What arrived looked good, it was accompanied by ciabatta bread and some salad, and first taste impressions were good. Then I noticed something about the potatoes – there were cut up Jacket potatoes and, I assume, left overs re-heated from a previous day. The dish promised so much, but in the end did not quite deliver the “alpine” experience I was anticipating. The use of camembert rather than reblochon did not enhance the dish – but as reblochon is unpasteurised I can understand why they did not use it.

This was the perfect place to warm ourselves up with some tasty chicken strips and a selection of yummy dips, after a fun but chilly time on the slope. We will absolutely be coming back here when we return to the slopes of Hemel Hempsted, mostly because the soup if the day is ALWAYS a winner!!

The Lodge Bar and Kitchen at the Hemel Snow Centre serves Alpine food, in an Alpine decorated café / restaurant with views onto the “real” snow slope. TV screens show skiing on EuroSport, plus a one hour time delayed action from the Snow’s centre own slope.Whilst the food is not as good as I remember from alpine holidays, nor the scenery or the atmosphere, it is certainly cheaper getting to the Alps and brought back many happy memories.

Our children were having a ski lesson so we came up here at first to have a drink and view them from the window and viewing balcony. Our drinks were served promptly and were a decent price. After the children had finished we decided we may as well have an early dinner there too. The menu was fairly basic - mainly burgers or hot dogs but have to say the food was tasty, with good sized portions, quick service and reasonably priced. We had some Nachos to share for starters (about £8) then we all chose a burger (the burgers were about £10 and came with onion rings and fries). , Would definitely eat here again if at the snow centre.

We went to the Lodge Bar at around 7pm for something light to eat before skiing and although the food was fine, the service was very much lacking. Firstly, athough there were four members of staff behind the bar and only one person ahead of us in the queue, we were literally ignored for minutes before anyone took our orders. The servers stood around having a conversation about their friends, phone calls and plans etc. It was so outrageous that the lady in the queue ahead turned towards us with a shocked expression at their behaviour. Once back at our table the wait was reasonable, although one of our orders had to be changed because apparently they can't serve a BLT at 7pm and the order should not have been accepted in the first place (chalk that one down to the lack of focus at the bar) We placed two separate food orders with several items, but were all at a single table and, as each item was delivered to the table we had to stop the server removing our table number, even though they had told us to keep it and we had repeatedly told them we were still waiting for other items. On the plus side, the food was quite nice and there's a lovely big window so you can watch the slopes while you eat. Food and drinks were a little on the expensive side for what they are, but I guess they have a captive audience. I had the soup of the day, which was really nice, but the serving was quite small. There's a free drink after your skiing lesson, so that helps improve the value.Primarily, we had gone to ski and not to eat, but the Lodge really lets down the Snow Centre where the staff were overwhelmingly helpful, friendly and professional despite being far more busy and under pressure. Overall, the management could improve the whole experience by making sure the Lodge staff focus on giving customers good service and not treating them like an inconvenience.

Obviously this place is catering to a captive audience. Our ski session ended at noon so I thought I'd pop upstairs and have lunch with my two daughters. There was one burger, a margherita pizza, and a ham and cheese sandwich ordered. My daughter took a few bites of the pizza and couldn't take any more, the sauce tasted like it was barbecue sauce and the pizza base was terrible. My burger was very poor quality meat that's only real redeeming quality was that it wasn't as bad as the pizza. Don't plan your trip to the ski slope around a meal.

We booked our Christmas meal here as a party of 17, its a great location & atmosphere, the staff were very friendly and helpful. The food however was appalling considering we paid £30 per person. One of the starters was soup - that's half a cup of tinned tomato soup. Mains was either salmon or turkey with roast potatoes - the salmon tasted like a microwave meal from Iceland and the roast potatoes came out on 2 small trays. That's 2 trays for an entire table of 17. We had to ask for more to go around everyone. The cheesecake pudding tasted cheap and nasty as did the profiteroles which were filled with foam rather than cream. We all felt it was a rip off. Great place to stop for lunch / coffee but do not book your Christmas party here if you are looking for a decent meal.

A pleasant surprise to find such an enjoyable experience post the indoor snow session. The environment is well considered creating a natural atmosphere akin to that of the European ski resort eateries, the use of space is excellent and allows for brilliant views of the slopes.. The food is fun and has personality! Mixing traditional with more recognisable tastes for those more familiar with the skiing adventure. The service experience is pretty good and realistic considering the volume of customers churning through the centre, however the staff are friendly and warm..I would happily recommend to anyone and I feel several of the reviews I have read are not balanced, the primary offer at Hemel Snow centre is the indoor slopes with the lodge being a superb add on facility and for that reason it exceeds my expectations.

It is so lovely to see a lovely bakery with items all freshly baked on the premises. The pastry on all their range is amazing, tasty and just the right side of crisp. The fillings are plentiful and delicious. The cake range is eye popping with beautifully balanced ingredients. Lovely rolls and fresh bread. Staff are welcoming and polite and on dry days you can sit outside and watch the day go by. Now, I will talk about the coffee. This unfortunately was a great disappointment. Despite two of us asking for stronger versions, it was to be frank like dishwater. I don't enjoy saying this but I was too embarrassed to say anything at the time. Do not let this distract you from the bakery itself. It is treat to have it on the precinct.
