Food is fantastic. Service on the other hand, terrible. Greeted by a woman with red hair. Miserable as sin. We ordered for people that weren’t even here as they were running 10 mins late. Apparently they’re fully booked, sat here and there’s 2 other tables in. The woman in question also keeps looking over at our table of 5 and shaking her head. I get that we’re a group, but we’re respectful, spending our cash here and keeping the hospitality industry alive. Clearly evident that it’s the food keeping this place alive because it’s certainly not the service. Never felt so awkward and not welcome in all my years.

Six of us went for lunch - I would strongly suggest booking as it was busy. The welcome was warm and friendly and the atmosphere is great,it is a proper pub. There is a main menu, a tapas menu and specials on the blackboard. We had cheese and onion pie, cannelloni, fish and chips and minced meat pie, this might sound a bit mundane but everything was absolutely delicious. We very much look forward to paying a return.visit.

Friendly service, excellent choice menu serving traditional food and Canary Island tapas. Visited on a Friday lunchtime without pre booking so we did have a short wait for a table but were kept informed. We were 2 couples and ordered a couple of tapas each which was plenty for a lunch. The food was excellent quality, hot, fresh and authentically Spanish as the chef is from The Canaries. The Pigs Cheeks from the specials was just beautiful as was the prawns in tomato & garlic. Couldn’t fault any of the dishes and the price was very reasonable too, around £45 for 8 tapas. Friendly and quick service. Would definitely recommend and is a place we will return to

My wife and I have eaten at the Waggon a few times now and the food is always perfect. We always go for the Tapas menu and with a Chef from Tenerife it's as authentic as you can get. The none tapas dishes also look excellent when we've seen them delivered to other tables. The prices are fair and comparable to other restaurants but if you like Tapas then this is the best in the area - in fact the best I have eaten in any tapas restaurant. If you haven't been before you wont be disappointed.

This is a very unselfish review as the popularity of this place necessitates early bookings. A huge and universally fantastic menu with lots of specials means this period property is always well populated. The landlord and chef brings a touch of Spanish magic and dishes to a menu that includes delicious steaks, cheese and onion pie and (almost) everything in between.

Unbelievable and not managed to eat at this place yet after attempting to twice first time they couldn't take card as the card machines was down so was sent away. I thought would give them another try as heard the food was ok so me and my daughter called after going to the cinema lastnight we went in for 7.30 pm grabbed two menus and went to order drinks at the bar ordered wine and soft drink and paid by card I asked the bar man do we just sit anywhere as there a few tables available and was advised to go to the other side of the bar to the kitchen and wait and a waitress will take us to table so waited the waitress walked past apologized and said would be with us in a second very polite as was the bar man we carried on waiting by this time was 7.40pm a lady came to speak to us and advised us that they wasn't serving any food as they was closing the kitchen I asked her what time do they normally serve to she replied 8oclock i advised her of the time and her response was that she didnt think anyone else was coming in so decided to close kitchen early I asked why they would take money for drinks knowing this she said she forgot to tell her staff that they was no longer serving food no offer to return our money knowing what time it was and that we would now have to leave our drinks to go and find somewhere else to eat I was disgusted what was a good night was ruined that's just not how you treat people her attitude was pretty much like it or lump it what she says goes i'm not sure if she was the landlady the least she could of done was offer to refund our money for drinks that we had to leave even her staff looked embarrassed never again

My partner and I have literally come away from the Back Waggon pub in Milnrow. We went there after hearing good things about the place and the food. We ordered food and drinks. I ordered a starter which was fine. I then ordered Hake (fish) for a main meal. When the food arrived the presentation was ok, however, I took a fork of the fish and as it approached my mouth I got this awful smell of ammonia. Just to be sure I took a smaller second fork of fish, it too smelt like ammonia and left the taste of ammonia in my mouth. I like fish and know enough about fish to know that ammonia smelling fish is a clear sign the fish is most certainly not fresh - the ammonia is a chemical reaction as the fish decomposed. Just to be certain I checked on Google about the smell, in preparation for the inevitable dispute.

The chef/manager was extremely rude to me and made it clear he did not want any of us there even though we were all also eating and drinking. Then the customers had a go at the organiser of the networking event when he'd done nothing wrong! A disgrace! Our second time at the Waggon Inn in Milnrow, the tapas food was again superb. The owner/chef is Canarian so he cooks tapas which is a slight variation of the traditional Spanish tapas.

Heard good things so went for a family meal misses 2 kids me and the misses both opted for the pepper steak pie it came with chips mushy peas and peppercorn sauce everything was ok except the meat was tough and chewy i do a bit of cooking myself and i expect tender meat i hope the managers read the reviews and act on them because it could be good with more care it may just have been a bad night but i don't expect tough chewy meat

Brilliant pub, excellent service and very good food, we had the kebabs with a side of Nagar curry and it was fantastic. The prices are average compared to most pub’s in the area, and definitely worth it for the portions and quality.

Just got back from having lunch for my mothers' 86th birthday. The staff were so nice and couldn't do enough for you. The food was excellent, freshly prepared and a wide choice available. The cakes were a delight and the choices suited everyone. What a lovely tea room in great surroundings with excellent food and staff. Would definitely recommend.

Staying with family for the weekend and one suggested Cherry Brekkie…..let’s have it! Very busy small cafe, seating about 35 people and was packed! Lucky to get a table! Cherry breakfast, buttered toast, 2 eggs to your liking, bacon, mushrooms, hash brown, black pudding, white pudding, beans, tomatoes and 2 amazing sausages, complemented by a cup of tea for only £10.75 !! Excellent service, simple menu, and quality food! Normally, you’d expect a cafe of this size and location to be serving Aldi fayre…..not a chance!! Will be back again and again

Brilliantly crafted coffee the way I like it and the staff(especially Michaela) are lovely 😊 not even the big coffee chains grind decaf beans to order… I’ll be back!
