Waggon & Horses in South Kesteven

Tried all 3 of the Nepalese Curries (Chicken, Lamb, Salmon) They were all a pleasure. I've now tried them all again and still can not decide which is my favourite

Food was OK,but the chicken was rather tough...I think that, like many other places,the chicken is pre-boiled;it may be the only convenient way...I may revisit,although there is a Keralan restaurant in Newark that has a five star rating and is the finest in the East Midlands...

Superb atmosphere from warm and friendly. Immediately lit the fire for just me and helped me choose from the range of Nepalese food. The food was SIMPLY DELICIOUS. Piping hot, delicately spiced and huge chunks of moist lamb. The lady behind the and a lovely regular even donated to The Great Tommy Sleep Out, which was why I was visiting this lovely part of the country. THANK YOU x

I ordered from just eat rhe meat looked warmed up several times i ordered a mixed grill and Lamb danshak within 3 hours i started vomiting profusely I have not stopped all night and have been in a terrible state.. it used to be fabulous with fresh produce since the new owners its awful I will never use it again

Great Curry on your doorstep! Just moved into the village and though we would stop by for a quick drink and a takeaway. The staff couldn’t be friendlier, and we sat out in the huge garden out the back. We eat curry a lot and these guys know how to cook it! Great flavours, not oily, big portions and will definitely be returning!!

We have visited the Waggon and horses several times over the last couple of months and tried various dishes off the menu. Everything has been delicious, and their Lamb dopiaza (which strangely is not listed on the menu, I asked for it specifically) is about the best I’ve ever had, including in India. The service has been very quick and friendly. They also do a special offer on Wednesdays which is exceptional value for money.

Went with 5 other friends last Friday. We all thought the food was excellent. The service was friendly, perhaps a little slow which underlines that each meal was cooked fresh. It was so good that we have booked in again for Wednesday (5 days later!)

The fact that the Gurkha Square restaurant in Grantham had taken over the running of the restaurant was enough for us to give it a try and thank goodness we did. Best curry we've had in years and far, far superior to the previous owner. From the starters to the mains and desert, everything was superb. service was brilliant too. If you'd like a real treat of a curry, head to this place - you will not be disappointed. Huge thanks to all the team and the 5 stars is very well deserved

Now this bar is under new management. The food has improved 100% from my previous visits. Also the staff are friendly and always up for a bit of friendly banter. With live bands promised for the summer, i am sure they will continue to grow.

Just visited for a meal , under new ownership as a curry place, never ever have i encountered such beautiful food, ambience attention to detail , stunning surroundings, really lovely staff and manager. i didnt want to leave! i would urge anyone and everyone to visit this place, the wagon and horses, you will just love it!

Lived in this village for 18+ years and never been a true fan of this establishment. It changed hands some time ago and became an Indian bar and grill. Every time I walked past it the smells were amazing and yet it took for ages to go and visit to try the cuisine. And we were not disappointed. Lovely staff and a warm welcome and as we were visiting early, was able to choose our table. Service was prompt, but not intrusive. So queen had a couple of poppadoms 75p each and one of the dips, which we were not charged for (I believe if you have all three dips it costs about £2). This was followed by chicken Madras - £9.75 and chicken bhuna - £9.75. Both come in 4 levels of spiciness. Rice is separate, plain £2.75, egg fried £3.95. My one observation is that you get plenty of rice, so sharing could be appropriate for those with smaller appetites. We are going back, so as you can imagine, highly recommended.

What a find! We had a delicious lunch with friends and the ale was great too. Would recommend. Really great menu with huge range on offer.

What must have been a long established rural family pub seems to have been taken over by a tiny minority who inflict their need for loud music on the rest of the community. We heard the pub literally from half a mile away! Saving grace was the Red Lion in the same village where we found less selfish people

From the moment you walk through the door you are made welcome. Nothing is too much trouble and the staff are friendly and keen to put you at ease and ensure you have a super night. We were led through to a beautiful dining room, a stunning barn conversion where fairy lights twinkle magically against duck egg blue and stone walls, with high wooden beams. We started with spicy popadoms which were loaded with fresh tomatoes and sweet onions. A tray of sauces kept us entertained as we took advice on the menu from knowledgeable and helpful staff. I’m coeliac so it was fab to be able to eat pretty much everything. My partner ordered lamb bhuna and I had the tikka masala and wow it was so good. We once went to chutney Mary in London and that was brilliant. This was even better! We couldn’t believe that hidden in caythorpe is one of the best restaurants in the world, with the best chef and a very talented desert chef - the handmade fudge at the end of the meal which looks like a rainbow is gorgeous. Even better, our dog sat next to us throughout and was made just as welcome as we were. The people running the waggon and horses are doing something really special. If you have one meal out this year, make sure you treat yourself at the waggon and horses.

The staff are so lovely and welcoming, and made a real fuss of our dog, which he loved. Here we had the best Indian meal we have ever eaten since moving to Lincolnshire several years ago. The chicken tikka masala, lamb bhuna and peshwari naan were the best we’ve eaten in years. Whilst this is a very nice village pub in its own right, the food is of top Indian restaurant quality, which puts this place in a league of its own. We will definitely be returning again and again to try more from the menu and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it.

The food at the Waaggon and Horses is gorgeous. A clever blend of spices makes every dish I have tried mouth-watering. You get to choose how spicy you want any dish - medium is perfect for me. Standout dishes include the Chicken Tikka Sizzler - brought to the table in a skillet and with the most tender chicken. Yum. The Biryanis are all to die for and the mixed grills are huge. I haven't had one, but the wraps are incredibly popular and my friends swear by them. Steve, Tam and the team make everyone welcome and all food is cooked to order so be prepared for a short wait - ut's worth it!

A group of 6 of us came to The Waggon and Horses for some food and drinks a few weeks ago, and I was extremely impressed. I’d been going there for years, but the most recent visit was by far the best. Great food, buzzing atmosphere, and spectacular surface from the young lads behind the outdoor bar. I’m actually moving house to somewhere fairly local, so I’ll definitely be popping in again in the future (very frequently, I’d imagine!)

Had a visit to this lovely pub meeting with family, I was so impressed how well thought out the outdoor area was to meet with covid regulations, we had a table in the trailer, that really is a fab idea! We had pizza and it was one of the best ever had, beats any pizza restaurant, the staff was great so polite asking if we needed anything, nothing was too much trouble, we will definitely be visiting again !

After visiting this pub with family for a meal , and also popping in for a drink with no booking , I have to say we’ve not been to a pub like this for a while . From entering the venue we were met with a smile , and nothing was too much trouble .All the staff were so friendly , had time for a chat and the food was outstanding . Prompt and hot . The bar men in the trailer where we had our meal we very attentive , and had to say never still. When they weren’t serving they were wiping things down etc.The amount of tables with people on only proves how popular this pub is . We had family down from Newcastle who are wanting to move back to this area , and were so impressed with this pub they are considering moving to this village ! Highly recommended it to friends and family , and all loved it just the same .

Went for a peaceful drink with my other half and we were both astonished by the endless racket. Couldn’t hear ourselves think between the yelling and loud music. Would be great if they kept it down.

Travelling to Lincoln , hungry, we came across The Waggon & Horses and what a great find it was. Set just off the A607 in a lovely small village, the pub has ample car parking. Traditional, it has clearly had a refurb recently with a great selection of pictures of the Lancasters throughout. With good covid compliance, the staff were helpful and friendly, the food tasty and home cooked, a very enjoyable lunch. Recommended.

Had steak twice here and both times was superb, lovely food all round each time we’ve been. The staff and management are so friendly and nothing is too much trouble. I would definitely recommend a visit here and all government COVID guidelines are adhered too, making customers relaxed and comfortable. Great food, great prices and great service what more can I say.

Perfect Saturday afternoonThe Waggon have got this spot on in challenging circumstances Perfectly clear one way system, check in when you arrive for track and trace, more hand sanitiser than you could imagine, socially distanced tables, nice background music, festival vibe! (And test match cricket as a bonus!!!) On top of that the food was amazing!!!!We had baguettes, tuna melt, fish fingers, Cajun chicken, and I had a chicken Caesar salad which I have to say was the best one I’ve ever had (and I’ve had a few!!). The record before yesterday was held by a very lovely pub in Grantchester, Cambridge and have always thought we’d go bank just for that but now I know I’ve got the Waggon on my doorstep it’s saved us a trip to Cambridge Well done to the Waggon. Perfect afternoon with family!!!

We've just come back from the Waggon and Horses. It's the first time we've been out for a meal since lockdown, but I would have been happy to recommend the experience anyway.Delicious afternoon tea featuring 4 .kinds of sandwiches, home-made scones with jam and cream, plus assorted cakes. We drank Prosecco, tea and water.No problem about bringing home the left-over cakes - they suggested it! Friendly helpful service and brilliant value at £30.The only quibbles were the flies and the slightly scruffy (but very comfortable) chairs.

Fantastic pub! Food was delicious, had a side of halloumi fries as had heard my friends raving about them - tasted amazing!! Very dog friendly, Barks was happy snoozing under table while we enjoyed all 3 courses!! Food came out hot & prompt - can't fault!

Lunch - steak and Stilton ciabatta with chips so tasty, friendly staff a lovely cosy lounge. Glass of chilled Sauvignon blanc from New Zealand superb.

My fiancé and I popped in for lunch. I had an incredible Rib-eye steak with all the trimmings, cooked to perfection. Service was fantastic!! It had some lovely cask ales on option also. Definitely recommend to anyone in or passing through the area!

We deliberately chose a quiet Tuesday evening as we did not fancy battling with the crowds at Sunday Lunch. (Booking recommended for that) We treated ourselves and went into the restaurant area to escape the sport on the bar tv.My meal was absolutely delicious. I had sea bass and roast vegetables. The vegetables were so tasty. Excellent and seasoned beautifully. My husband had a Mexican rice dish with recycled beef and it was ok but was way too spicy even for him. Everyone's taste differs however. We are getting very choosy in our dotage.

My wife and I went to the awful meal for 18 reviewed by K2239DRkimg below and agreed it was terrible. However the rumors of new management drew us back. We were both delightfully surprised. The wife had a meat pie where the meat had been slow cooked and was full of flavour. She chose a small potion but still could not clear her palate.

We have had a few meals now since the new management has taken over Sunday lunch was excellent highly recommend the chicken. great menu now plus he takeaway food has improved 100 percent all the staff now are very helpful polite and friendly.

Went in for a drink on Christmas Eve but this was the first time we'd eaten there since my last review.

Big improvement in the last few weeks food has improved 100 percent the only downside is the kids behind the bar would be nice to have more mature people behind the bar with smarter dress.

I was shocked how bad my meal was. The chef came to the tables as we were in a party of 18 he said it was his first day. Myself and my partner are both chefs & and are always understanding of the pressure you can be under. But even on my very first day as a chef I would have never sent a meal out like that, I had salmon that was burnt to a crisp 4 Brussels sprouts 3 pieces of carrots and a spoon of cabbage a splatter of pesto & no potatoes at least everyone else got rock hard roast spuds the starter was no better. A shadow of its former self, I hope for the sake of the new landlord the chef gets better as it’s a lovely pub. The landlord lord did place 3 bottles of Prosecco on the table that was apparent by the people who were drinking.

Santa’s grotto was disappointing. Had a meal and meal was very expensive for what it was. Pizza: £10:95, Ham, Egg and Chips £10:95 and food was slow. Might suggest that for local and country pub that prices are more reasonable otherwise might push customers away. Mark up on these items over exaggerated. Otherwise nice pub.

We arrived to a pretty nice pub which looked promising.

My friends and I visited this pub for the first time. All four of us had the two course menu with two choosing the roast beef and two for vegetarian option for the mains. The food was plentiful and tasty. For dessert we selected fruit crumbles and the chocolate brownie. Accommodating staff provided pouring cream instead of custard for one of the crumbles. Apparently the pub is under new management and I wish them the best for the future.

Used a doggie pub app to find this dog friendly pub. The night before they had a Halloween party and still had some of the decorations up. It made for interesting decor.

We have had our annual AGM tonight in the Waggon, over 20 people in their seating area all fed with a bespoke menu sorted for us. The staff were all amazing and couldnt do enough for us. The food was top notch and all plates were emptied. They have 3 hand pulls all with well kept real ale.

Just left here having had Sunday lunch. Very friendly, good quality beer, food fine and good price, dog friendly. Dont get why it was so quiet, we are here on holiday and so many of the pubs in the area stop serving food at 2 or 230, these guys are open all day. Bonus of two TV screens to watch footy and the amazing Cricket game today. Will be back.

Wow what can i say we've been loads of time on sundays, christenings and even their beer festival weekend its an AMAZING pub, staff are very polite and welcoming. Food was fantastic even for my partner and niece who both can't have dairy. Even taken our dog for their dog friendly ice cream and to social with other dog owners.

We love this pub as it’s so family friendly! They have a great outdoor play area for children and small picnic tables for the little ones to eat at. They’ve also recently put together a children’s menu (with lots of choice) which comes with pictures to colour in and crayons which is a lovely touch. I’d definitely recommend it to anyone with children - especially those with energetic toddlers!

I arranged to hold a wedding party at the Waggon after getting married abroad, for around 70 people.

Happened to be passing Grantham and came across this little pub. Lovely food, great service and nothing was too much trouble. Ordered fish and chips, pleasantly surprised and would definitely order again. Will definitely come back when in the area!

A lovely country pub in a lovely village between Grantham and Lincoln. We have visited a few times now on our way to/from Belton House. We have always found the owners really friendly and nice to chat too and the service is always helpful and efficient.

I frequent this lovely British Pub often and have never been disappointed. Since it’s revamp and new ownership; it is such a nice and welcoming country pub. Great choice of drinks; Menu is varied; Food has never disappointed and the staff are very kind and helpful.

Sadly the food offering continues to underwhelm. The cheapest ingredients, prepared poorly with little thought given to presentation.

Called on the off chance early doors after visiting family and enjoyed lovely freshly cooked fish and chips and Lincolnshire sausages and mash. Excellent quick service. Recommend

Went to dine here at 6pm one night last week. The Staff were very friendly & made us feel welcome. The menu was I felt quite limited. I had a pizza and my wife the pie with mash & veg. It was nice and I have no complaints about the food at all. My only grumbles would be the wait for the meal. It was not busy but the wait was long. This is not fine dining by any stretch of the imagination. It was reasonably priced and nice pub grub!!!!!

From the first day of re opening to date, the food and ambiance has been amazing. Top quality food , with a menu that suits a more family oriented customer. My girls absolutely love the children's menu and the choice of desert excites them lol.

As a local I'm delighted to see the Waggon has been refurbished and re-opened under new management.

My husband and I were both incredibly impressed with this place. The food was outstanding. Both had roasts, 1 beef and 1 pork, and the children had pizza. Portion sizes were fantastic, and the food was that of a high standard. And the prices were great. Worth the money without a doubt.

I had heard from friends the Waggon and Horses was under new management so went to take a look and I have to say I was very impressed! The staff were very helpful and the food delicious and reasonably priced. I spoke for sometime to the new manager and I could tell that he really enjoys his work and takes pride in providing a first class service. I will be recommending to all my family and friends that they experience the Waggon and Horses for themselves, they not only went out of their way to ensure we enjoyed our dining experience, but also made us feel part of that community. We will be returning and soon (it is a bit of a distance now for us but well worth the journey!) I can not recommend this more highly, Thankyou to Richard and his team.

Found this pub whilst visiting family. The landlord and bar staff were extremely helpful. Weather very hot so sat in the very large garden. Good menu and range of beers. Inside bar and restaurant nicely decorated. This is a good place for families.

Nos "encontraron" el vagón y caballos en ruta a una vacaciones en Norfolk llamar para el almuerzo. El pub es muy tradicional, con una buena variedad de cervezas, incluyendo tonel. El menú es el habitual 'grub pub" que se puede encontrar en ningún otro sitio. Optamos por un lado de sándwiches y patatas fritas que llegan con buenas porciones y a un precio razonable. El pub es bastante grande y lleno de carácter. Que parecía ser bastante limpio y bien cuidado. Los inodoros parecía limpio y parecía haber tenido una reciente renovación.

El único defecto nunca nadie a la habitación para su reposición limpieza/ desde que llegamos, aunque después pedimos, bolsitas de café reponían.
