The restaurant is conveniently located near the British Museum, but not easy to locate as it is in a narrow side-street. Through the unprepossessing entrance you go down some stairs to as large windowless dining area which resembles a school canteen. Warning: no life, not wheelchair accessible, inconvenient for the elderly. The menu is extensive if a bit obscure. I had Pad Thai, not cheap at £10.45 for a small plate, mainly tofu and bean sprouts, a few prawns and bits of chicken. Service not included.Convenient for a quick bite, but neither comfortable nor good value.

So the Wagamama experience experience should be consistent across all the restaurants in the chain. Service was quick and food arrived quickly in line with all of the chain. Service was friendly and helpful. Lots of lone diners in this one as it is in the business district which made me feel comfortable as a lone female diner. So to the food. Exactly what I had ordered but the chicken curry had only about 4 bits of chicken in it - was wondering if this was a cost cutting exercise or the chain providing instructions on how to make your franchise more profitable - anyway a bit disappointing. Food was tasty

We have been many times to the Bloomsbury branch of Wagamamas. Over recent years we have tended to favour their branch in Southwark as their portions were bigger, but we found ourselves hungry in the Holborn area so in we went. I recommend the Vegetarian Katsu Curry. Our grandson in the highchair tackled the children's menu, but seemed more interested in throwing crayons on the floor (he did have some of the food). Helpful waitress. I would recommend that you try and avoid busy times as this is not the largest restaurant in the world.

I recently had dinner with a friend at Wagamama. This location was near the hotel I have stayed at in Bloomsbury for several years but I had never tried it.The atmosphere is great, I like the communal dining. They have a great selection of Japanese, Thai and Indian (probably more) dishes that are very well priced. The service is awesome and the food was very good. It was a great relaxed place to have dinner with a friend, would easily return.

This was the branch that started off the noodle craze in London off back in the day. The menus have been tweaked, and prices have steadily crept up, but I'm still a fan of the chicken katsu curry and a Sapporo. Evenings are much quieter than during the day when it gets much busier. And noisier! Charming staff. Kids love it here! At times, the air-conditioning ensures it's colder inside than it is outside, and you *will* need to build up your strength to open that door into and out of the dining area!!

My husband's chilli chicken ramen was fine, and enjoyable as usual. Service was good, and my main reason for not rating this restaurant better is that this particular Waga is in dire need of refurbishment. The décor and finish are tatty and old - it is not the standard of finish I am used to seeing in Wagamama. Also, I remember complaining several years ago on a previous visit to this branch that there is a horrid draft that comes down the stairs when the doors are open. The draft is still there.

We went here as an extended family of seven after a visit to the British Museum. It was not the best raman (or udon or ...) I've ever tasted but all the dishes were reliably tasty and Wagamama brings all these different cuisines together in one conveniently located restaurant. An exception was the steamed bun which WAS one of the best I've eaten. The restaurant can be difficult to find and is in the basement - so don't be put off by the 'closed' look of the street level windows if you are coming for dinner. I have never had a bad meal at this restaurant, and this visit was no exception. I went to the facility located in a basement near the British Museum. Once down the stairs I was immediately greeted and seated by an exceptionally friendly server. He seated me at a long table which also accommodated other diners (we were all spaced out, however, so no one bothered another). The server cheerfully answered my questions about several of the noodle bowls and other rice dishes and in just a few minutes my complimentary green tea and Pad Thai dinner, hot and steamy from the grill, were in front of me. My food looked as good as it tasted. Servers came by during my meal ensuring I had everything I needed, and my bill was taken care of quickly when I was ready to go. The atmosphere is warm and open, and one that especially puts a single diner at ease. My meal was so good I'd love to eat my way through the entire menu

What a disappointing visit - restaurant was in a basement and could do with a good clean and complete redecoration, looks and feels like a cross between a public toilet and an underground tube station. Staff were pleasant enough but the place wasn't busy. Food took quite a while to arrive - all the sides came before the Yaki Soba which had to be sent back because it was cold and the noodles all congealed. Replacement dish was better but still came on an ice cold plate. Seemed to be more staff eating there than customers and I certainly wouldn't recommend or use this branch again.

They however acknowledge it, apologised and gave it on the house, all before we had said anything. When leaving they noticed my sister had a load of small shopping bags so gave her a large study bag as it made it easier to carry they all.

I had to fight for attention to ask one of the waiters if what was in the dumplings was really grilled chicken, as it was lame, tame and boring despite the nice sauce. Having that confirmed I just made the best of it. Th thing that makes me og for 3/5 was the Very Green Juice, which was a new addition and very yummy!

I noticed this restaurant whilst passing and decided to chance it. It didn't look too appealing from outside and the internal appearance with banks of 'benches' wasn't what I expected but the waitresses were friendly so I decided to try it out. The food was really tasty and healthy. Service was good and the food was ready within a few minutes which suited me well. I had duck dumplings (more like pasties) followed by a salmon teriyaki and noodle dish. The latter was really good, the dumplings were tasty but pricey for what they were. Dessert was a white chocolate and ginger cheesecake, which I found a little too sweet, but perhaps I chose badly. With a half carafe of wine, it came to £36 which I thought was very good value. Service was professional and unobtrusive, but not overly friendly. I will return again, but a little wiser about what to choose!

Me and my girlfriend ate here whilst down in London. We both had the chicken Katsu curry. It was tasty, however I have had nicer curry dishes before including a nicer Katsu. The restaurant wasn't what I was expecting, and the seating is very strange, like a long bench with the psi ileitis of sitting next to strangers, which is not my cup if tea when I'm out for a dinner experience.

I went with a 40 member group and the staff was really prepared for our group. They had everything set up and I didn't wait too long to receive my order at all!

I came here while backpacking through London after researching gluten free places in the area. I was left with Wagamama as the possibly only place I could eat as a Celiac (strict gluten free needs). I had dined here before my diagnosis and it was a favorite, but I was a bit hesitant knowing there was a lot of the soy sauce and some gluten-containing foods in the kitchen. But the manager personally took my order, was aware of cross contamination, and was very helpful and patient. It took a bit of work, but I got a soup dish and it was both safe and delicious!

When we can't think of anywhere else to go, we go to Wagamamaa's, or even when we just want a healthy meal at a decent price, nothing fancy. The price, however, has gone up in recent years. We go to the Bloomsbury one, near the British Museum, very nice area and nicer facility than the one in Soho. Helpful and informal service. For food you always can count on. Not dirty at all! Value aint wot it used to be! Unfortunately! But still a good place. Soba ruled this time.

I appreciate the fast service and the excellent food. I love it to see the chefs working in there open kitchen. Went there nearly every day when I worked for one month in London. Had mostly the chilly men dishes, who can handle spicy go for it...

Visited during half term, 2 adults and 5 kids including gluten free and fussy eaters. The manager went out of his way to help and the food was quick and lovely, what more could you ask for? Have been to lots of wagamamas over the years, this was the best experience out if all of them.I tried the coconut seafood broth, will definitely have it again.

Dining area set up like school dinners, complete with rows of tables and benches, not seats. I know the Japanese like minimalist but... decor tired, dirty and renovation supposed to be in progress. Service fairly quick possibly because we were the only people in after another small group left. I had a Katsu chicken curry which was OK but the best comparison for me, not having sampled Japanese before was that it was like an absolutely standard Indian curry. Fine but wouldn't put this at the top of my dining experiences.

We've eaten at plenty of Wagamama's across the country and this one really needs an overhaul! The location is down in a basement and so it feels really dark and gloomy unlike the usual bright, modern and attractive interiors of your typical WM.However, making up for this slightly are the staff who were very pleasant. They did have a noisy large crowd in...a child's birthday party which meant that service was a little slow but they did apologise and it couldn't be helped I suppose.Food was usual WM fare, very tasty and plentiful so can't complain there.I feel that it needs to be given an overhaul and maybe make the entrance more attractive and play a bit of music to lift the place. It was very quiet (apart from the kids party) which says it all really...

Its a shame that the very first Wagamama in Bloomsbury has gone down the tube. The restaurant is shabby, not welcoming, and blink and you would miss it. You go downstairs to a very uninviting restaurant. Guys, please do something with this restaurant, bring some colour, do something, it looks old, tired and very, very dated. The food tonight was OK, nothing more. I ordered the ginger chicken udon, and you would have thought there was a ban on chickens. Mostly noodles, and coriander. Fresh juice delicious however. Would I go again - no

Ci torneremo!Chris&Benj

Visited in July 2012, March 2013 and again in May. The restaurant is below street level and tables are canteen-style; cosy in the cold weather and comfortable in the summer. Nicely placed between the British Museum and Shaftesbury Avenue, so not overwhelmed by tourists but busy enough to buzz. Very friendly welcome and efficient service. Food is freshly cooked and a joy to eat.

Correct food if you want to sit and escape the hustle and bustle of candem market. Especially in December a day of rain and wind. Varied dishes. We ordered a ramen that was okay, it wasn't the best ramen of my life either. Some gyozas, pay attention to whether they are steamed or fried, and some noodles. The quantities of the main dishes.
