We have just had the most expensive and awful breakfast at this place. I’m famous for not being able to fry an egg , well I just been beaten. Also a bit pricey £23.00 for two breakfast and drinks. Then to top it all as my partner finished her Apple juice there was a piece of blue kitchen roll stuck to the bottom (inside) of the glass. Should have gone to Morrison’s. We are too British to complain.

Popped in on way home with family for breakfast....needed to refuel from journey to Sussex. My wife has an allergy to rapeseed oil.She asked about what oil they used for cooking, and they could not have been more helpful.Question answered, and alternative suggestions all sorted within minutes....involved a few tweaks in the cooking on what seemed a busy morning. Great breakfast, helpful smiling staff, and a chef that went the extra mile.

We hadn't planned on having a meal, originally just came in for a coffee. Anyway, the menu looked good and was not expensive, so we ordered meals as well. I had a ham and pineapple omelette and my wife a ham salad with chips., and an coffee and tea. There were a lot of people in the cafe, so it was very popular and we didn't mind the understandable wait. When my omelette arrived it was fully 9 inches and delicious. The Salad came with ham egg and covered in chips. There was so much salad you couldn't see the ham, and you almost came across it by surprise and there were two pieces not just one. You wont go hungry here. A nice little touch comes with the napkin - a small sticker is attached thanking us for supporting their business. We will certainly be calling again! An enjoyable meal!

We would definitely come again, if we come back to Bodmin. Highly recommend.

Situated halfway up the main street down an arcade. I had cooked breakfast, well cooked to order. My wife had a fresh scone, too large for her, although she did have half my bacon!! Good quality items, nicely cooked. We would have liked to return, but lack of toilets, although understandable at this time, would mean somewhere different next time, pity as we liked it. Recommend after current Covid restrictions lifted.

MORE AT TripAdvisor

I have just left Waffles in complete and utter shock at the service and borderline verbal abuse I have received when visiting. Myself and my cousin ordered breakfast and sat down with our drinks. Whilst waiting I needed to use the toilets. In the current covid situation I fully appreciate the need for safety and cleanliness. I was told that I was unable to use the toilets as it is government guidelines despite the fact however recently having travelled the full Cornish coast and not encountering such issues as a paying customer. As the food was talking a little time I politely asked again and tried to explain my desperate situation. As the only two customers in the cafe I could not understand the problem however I was then confronted with the owner who had an aggressive manner and rudely raised her voice and said that I’m NOT using the toilets. she went on to tell me in an abrasive manner that government guidelines had stipulated it and it was her establishment and I’m not using them- despite the fact at this point she was within a meter of my face raising her voice at me. Hypocrisy? I asked for a refund as I could not wait to go to the toilet any longer. I was initially refused a refund, I was more than happy to pay for the drinks we had consumed. In the end I was offered a partial refund for the cost of food- despite not receiving any. To be honest I don’t believe we missed out on anything special food-wise, it looked to be a below average greasy spoon. The sound of microwaves on at full pelt in the background. I am not one to write bad reviews however as the owners requested a review in such a lovely manner here you go! I have also attached the current government guidelines so that hopefully your next paying customer doesn’t receive such abhorrent customer service. I seriously hope you that you do not treat customers with medical issues that require access to the toilets or elderly in this way.

I'm afriad to say I nearly overlooked this café because of it's location and decor, well I have learnt my lesson, do not go on looks alone! I am gluten and dairy intolerant and so I was delighted to see that they had gluten free and Vegan menus (I'm not a vegan but this means dairy free for me). I chose a bacon roll on a gf bun with dairy free butter. It came in a lovely seeded roll and was full of bacon, delicious! One of the other lovely things was having a cup of tea in a large mug and all for a very reasonable price. The big chain cafés and restaurants could take a leaf out of Waffles Coffee Shop book and offer a lot more choice for people with food intolerances and at a decent price! Thanks to Waffles I was able to enjoy a lovely lunch with my family instead of having to sit there and watch them all eat, while I have to wait to eat something later that I'd prepared at home.

Found this from the car park, when just looking for a coffee. Wasn't a very encouraging entrance up some stairs at the back of a small group of shops. Staff were friendly (the only good thing), the place itself is rather basic, our coffees were both luke warm, too much chocolate in the cappuccino, and the giant scone (it is huge), didn't really have any taste - it was all fairly cheap and felt like it. The toilet was atrocious, firstly you were confronted with security key code door (which was broken) the seat was missing, the soap dispenser not working, and looking like it was well overdue for a clean.

I'm impressed by the quality and range of gluten free (& non gluten free) cakes on offer here. I sample them regularly, so I should know.Waffles make the sort of cakes your Gran would have in her cake tin...if she was a good baker. Gluten free baking is not easy, it's quite a skill to do it well. I have reviewed Waffles before but I just wanted to add that their cakes are cut into portions and individually seal-wrapped, so you could buy one or two to take home to eat later or even freeze. Ideal if you have to cater for a visitor who needs gluten free stuff. The cakes cost around £1.00 per (large) portion. You could actually cut them in half and share them but I'm too greedy. I guess I'm just glad to be able to eat some tasty cake that doesn't make me horribly ill.The cake I usually choose is coconut sponge (feather light) with lime butter icing & grated lime rind. An example of a non gluten free cake is their "Malteser" cake, a sort of rocky road with chocolate Maltesers in it...how I wish I could eat some! Also, I have had coffee in some very posh places recently but I've got to say that I LOVE the espresso, with golden crema, that Waffles serve. I like the fact it is piping hot and presented beautifully in an expresso cup...and not served in a normal but half empty coffee cup, as I have recently experienced at some expensive venues. A bargain price too.Anyway, if you need gluten free cakes to take home, I'm sure the friendly staff at this little high street cafe would be happy to sell them to you.

Great coffees too. I always have an "expresso with golden crema"...which is a creamy froth that I find perfect with the taste of good, strong coffee. I've never found this anywhere else yet. My partner has his favourite "double shot latte". He usually has to pay for the extra "shot" elsewhere but Waffles always do that as standard. I noticed that the manager commented that the (lovely) staff have had coffee-making training recently. It shows! Still the best prices around. Waffles coffee shop is about halfway up Fore Street in Bodmin, tucked away in the corner of a little arcade on the right hand side of the street. We first found it when we were craving a coffee fix late in the afternoon and our usual place was closed. We had our dog with us and didn't want to have to sit outside Costa in cold weather and we had been turned away from Wetherspoons because we had a dog. We were lucky to find Waffles by accident as I buy my pet food at a shop nearby! The coffees at Waffles are very good and piping hot. A good selection too. The prices are a bargain for the quality. We are always on the lookout for gluten free cakes to go with the coffee and I have had some real horrors in my time! (Either like sawdust or sickly sweet and weird.) Anyway, Waffles always seem to have something gluten free. I had lime polenta cake last time. It was homemade, delicious and light as a feather. My partner had a white chocolate flapjack (I think). We were both very pleased. Other cafés need to offer decent gluten free cakes like these. More and more people are realising they are gluten intolerant. There must be a market for offering a better choice of gluten free food. I would REALLY like to be offered NICE gluten free scones as part of a cream tea so I wouldn't feel ill later! The service at Waffles is quietly efficient and friendly. Our dog is made welcome. If I had to describe Waffles to someone, I would say that it is a typical English cafe that serves good coffee and tasty cakes at a great price. We can't comment on the other food on offer as we haven't tried it but they seem to have happy customers in there. I think they will do take away food too.My partner commented that he gets fed up with expensive luke warm coffees (motorway service stations spring to mind) and so really enjoys the piping hot Waffles coffee, especially as we first visited them on a very cold day. We've been in several times since and the quality is consistent. I usually compliment the staff on the coffee and cakes on my way out. There's loads of cheapish parking in Bodmin, some of it free after 4p.m. so it's easy to park and take a food or coffee break.

In my previous review I said we would use Waffles outside catering again. We did last night and the food was every bit as good as last time. Like last time I thought I had over ordered (on purpose so that I could freeze some pasties) once again every delicious sandwich was eaten last night and the last few pasties have just been eaten whilst we cleared up .The staff are very helpful and pleasant, the food is of exceptional quality and brilliant value. What more can I say except that a lot of our guests were Cornish farmers who do know a good pasty (and have probably eaten thousands between them) - they loved them. Thank you again Waffles team for a wonderful service and wonderful food.

We have visited this coffee shop many times.I think it may not get as many customers as it deserves because it is at the bottom end of the arcade in Bodmin. On a down side, the decor is in desperate need. Don't let this put you off though. It has a simple menu of basic everyday food; breakfasts, sandwiches, jacket potatoes etc.If you like cakes, this is the place to go. They are homemade and amazing. The staff are friendly and helpful.Give it a try!

Popped here with my daughter for lunch while out in town - hadn't been here for years and we thought we would give it a try.Initial impression was it's a basic cafe and to be honest the tables needed a wipe down, but we went in towards closing time so I'm sure that if we had have gone in earlier the tables would have been cleaner.Had to go up and order at the till which I find a bit odd for a cafe these days - but not a major issue.Staff were lovely, very polite and friendly. Food was served quick and I have to say was very nice. Prices were very reasonable.Overall I'd say I would recommend and will definitely go back... If it's a posh cafe with character you want, this isn't for you but if you're looking for quick service and good basic food at a reasonable price, then I'd give Waffles a try!

Contacted Waffles to cater for our staff party, heard by word of mouth that they were very good value & food was excellent. Having met with them to discuss options for food choices which were very flexible and varied, like a food mix n match which let you design your own food menu really and there was lots of choices both for savoury & sweet . Party day arrived and food was laid out for us when we got to venue, everything looked wonderful, waffles certainly look after you and they had catered for above our guest numbers and so there was plenty of food. Waffles also come and clear away for you if local and there was plenty of food left over and so they wrapped up food for people to take home. Would recommend their pasties/turkey/ham stuffing pie and the meringues with fresh fruit bowl/clotted cream was mega lush! Thank you Waffles for a professional/delicious service from the Athelstan Party Organizers.

We recently visited Bodmin as part of out holiday in the southwest. Me, my husband and my two grandchildren had a smashing time in rural cornwall! The tea and coffee were superb and the sandwiches were sublime! The young lad working that day had a wonderful smile on his face and was keen to help when we asked for some ketchup for the portion of chips we ordered. Very polite! As were all the staff working that day who all seemed happy to be there :)We will definitely be planning this location into our trip next time we are down in the beautiful county of cornwall!

The staff are always full of smiles and nothing is too much trouble. Spend a lovely half hour with a pot of tea and something of your fancy you will not be disappointed !!!

We have popped into Waffles whenever we have been in Bodmin - mainly for a light lunch. Their panninis are good as are their jacket potatoes. We always see people eating chips so they must be good as well although I have not had them myself. The portions are good. Coffee not great, tea fine. They also stock a good selection of enormous cakes. We have always found the staff to be friendly. The prices are very competitive and the plentiful menu all seems good value for money. Not a 'posh' eaterie (counter service, plastic tablecloths etc.) but if you want a quick, filling, bite to eat, then Waffles fills the bill.

Visited in September 2013 only had a drink here. The staff was very friendly and served me quickly but the tables seemed dirty there was chewing gum stuck to the sugar sachets so not very appealing to me so I would not hesitate to eat elsewhere when next in Bodmin.

As a local I have had coffee in Waffles with friends for years and it was during one of these visits that we saw delicous looking food being prepared to be sent out to a function. I remembered this when planning a large party to be held on the day after my daughter's wedding last weekend. We ordered 200 freshly cooked pasties and several platters of sandwiches - everything was delivered exactly when we were told it would and it was delicious. We even had 8 extra pasites! The steak pasties had lots of tender meat in them and the sandwiches were very generously filled with a superb selection of fillings.I thought that I had considerably over-ordered and, as the pasties were fresh, thought that I could freeze what was left. We ended up with one pasty left!! Many of our guests had long journeys home and they ate thier fill and grabbed a pasty for their jouney home. We, along with many of our local guests, are farmers who know how a pasty should be and everybody was raving about them and asking where we had bought them The staff were very friendly and helpful and the food was fantastic value for money. I cannot recomend highly enough and will certainly use Waffles outside catering when we next have a function.

Have lived in Bodmin my whole life and been eating in here since I was a kid! I remember quite vividly begging my Dad to let me have a milkshake in here when I was about 7!Today the food is totally yummy...there is a wide selection from pasties, breakfasts, and baguettes, to the totally divine biscuits and cakes! I've even bought some of their home-made pastry to make my own pasties with when I've been short of time!Service is always with a smile, all the ladies are polite and willing to help - would definitely continue to eat here for years to come! Highly recommended!

the only place open on a Sunday on St Martins! So glad it was open, it was absolutely heaving but we got there in time to get seats and what was left of the cakes and drinks.

Fantastic find on our day trip to Bude. My husband had a delicious gluten free breakfast (finding somewhere good that's gluten free isn't always easy) and I enjoyed the American pancakes & a cappuccin
