Christina you were amazing as always! Thank you. My girlfriend and i have been coming to wabi for a while now so we knew what to expect yet still once again our expectations were exceeded. Amazing food paired with amazing service, whats better than that!? Not only that but the food looks as good as it tastes, with beautiful presentation and beautiful flavours its no wonder its our favourite restaurant. We have come many times and we absolutely dont plan on stopping now!

We have been eating at Wabi since it first opened and did deliveries to local towns and have loved it ever since. Every trip has been a delight and I am glad to call this my favourite restaurant! Christina is always wonderful and makes my cocktails perfect every time, and the satay chicken is an absolute must-have! Anyone who loves a chill atmosphere, lovely staff, and amazing food should definitely give Wabi a visit!

Absolutely brilliant. Can't recommend highly enough. After 6 free parking nearby. Pretty and intimate spot. Food was absolutely lush, one of the best satay sauces we have ever had (they make their own). Staff were so friendly and helpful they really made the evening extra special. Will definitely be back. Check out the offers, we booked on a Thursday by chance and there was a good offer on. Really loved it. One of the best dining experiences we have had in a long time. The variety of flavours on the menu was great and for some who were nervous about eating Japanese food for the first time, they really loved it, every dish was so tasty.

Some good some not so good. We waited an hour for our food, they did comp us some drinks and I understand they were short staffed. Staff were apologetic about it. We had some boa buns, one of them the meat was nice, the other it was tough and pretty much inedible. Katsu was lacking in flavour for us but good squid and dumplings. I'll be honest I probably won't go back which is a shame as I really wanted to like it

We have just had a meal in wabi sabi which i have been meaning to dofor 2 months. I hoped the fokd was good but was more then we expected and definitely be back with the new menu.

Came here last Saturday, food was a little wait but it was extremely busy so understandable, food came out perfect and staff was very friendly. I can honestly recommend to anyone that likes trying new food

Very friendly staff, food was good, atmosphere was pleasant even though I was the only person (it was only 5pm). I had Gyoza, chicken teriyaki and Vietnamese custard buns which were a revelation. Only 4 stars because there was some restrictions on the menu, will be back

Popped in late last night without a booking. Even though they were really busy the staff were friendly and found us a table as someone hadn't shown up for a booking. Food was brilliant as always, staff tip top. I fancied a Singapore sling and the staff kindly made this as a mocktail for me as I wasn't drinking. Highly recommend 😁

Love it as always! Have been to wabi many times now since they first started with their delivery services and have loved it everytime. The staff are amazing and so helpful which has made each of our experiences that much better! Especially the ladies working at the paignton wabi, they have always been so fun and friendly with us which really makes all the difference. Dont even get me started on the food!!! Its amazing!!! I tend to stick to what i know i like when i order food at resturants so to not dissapoint myself, but each times ive ordered at wabi, my expectations have been exceeded. And any time ive worked up the courage to order something new i have been overjoyed. I genuinely couldnt recommend this resturant more and i plan to come again soon.

Excellent evening of food and drink. Just visited the exeter restaurant on the Quay, beautiful food, exceptional service, and lovely atmosphere. Went there for my daughters 21st birthday. Special mention to our waitress Tanya, explained all the food options to us, and gave us all a complimentary glass of prosecco, for the birthday girl. Would highly recommend 👌

This is a gem of a place for both eating in or take-aways. Not cheap but very good quality food. The effort & care spent on presentation of even the take-away dishes is great. The menu has changed recently & very sadly they no longer offer Pad Thai which was amazing. One of the best I've ever eaten. They have also changed the chicken bao buns which used to be zesty & topped with chopped peanuts. The katsu chicken ones are nice but it would be nice to have the original versions too. What is stunning is their slow cooked beef, cooked for days & the beef teriyaki is lush. We have not yet eaten in & as they only offer local delivery, we have to drive there to pick it up. The food is well worth the drive. They have recently expanded & opened a restaurant in Exeter.

Recently visited with a group of friends for bottomless brunch after numerous recommendations, and It’s safe to say we were not disappointed! Our server, Millie, was helpful and attentive, and made our experience so much fun! The cocktails were amazing and there was a great selection on offer, our favourite was the mojito. The food was absolutely delicious! The aubergine boas were to die for! Also the amount of food we got and bottomless drinks for £35 was a bargain! Will definitely be visiting again!

I had the Vietnamese beef bao at the popup in Exeter, delicious tender brisket, great sauce and the buns themselves are perfect. Great service as well and the music/vibe was good too.

A lovely evening tonight, the food was beautiful, we enjoyed a very relaxed and unhurried evening, thank you to all the staff especially the young gentleman and lady who took.our.order and served our table. We will be returning again soon.

Disappointed is an UNDERSTATEMENT. Just stick to your local Chinese takeaway such as Golden Dragon or Oriental Touch. I would even recommend SCOFFS over this place.

We can’t comment on the actual food so this is purely based on customer service and for information. We booked the table ahead of time as two of us are coeliacs and being a little unsure of the gluten free menu options we saw online we called ahead to confirm there would be enough options for them, to be told there were “lots of options for gluten free”. We arrived and were given the gluten free menu with about 10-15 dishes circled as available gluten free. Ordering the food another member of staff came along and when we questioned why the rice was not on offer as a gluten free option (rice contains no gluten) she checked with the chef and came back with a different allergy folder which showed there was actually only one starter gluten free and one main - none of the dishes we had actually ordered from the gluten free menu we had been given. After much confusion between the staff we decided to leave and avoid any further risk of illness to the parties. While the staff were very welcoming and apologetic it was quite a disappointing experience and concerning that had this second member of staff not spotted the situation two of our party could have been seriously ill. I’m not sure the staff quite realised the seriousness of the situation. Perhaps I can suggest some allergen training for all members of staff and would advise steering clear for a while for any guests with severe allergies whilst they figure out how they cater for allergies or make clear they cannot cater for them at all as this was a lucky escape but also a waste of our evening having to find somewhere else to go.

I'm writing this review from the Isaac Merritt after being kicked out of Wabi-Sabi Bay after just an hour and a half, when we were told they had booked our table for another party arriving in five minutes. We had just finished our food and ordered a round of drinks whilst we pondered desserts. A minute after the drinks arrived, the waitress came and told us, "Just to let you know, we have booked this table for another group in five minutes. I'm not trying to kick you out, but..." INSERT AWKWARD SILENCE HERE. We had to sit and process what had just happened in disbelief as the waitress walked off. The waitress came round again to make sure we were leaving, so we were forced to down our drinks and pay up. Not what you expect in a restaurant. The food was okay, but definitely overpriced. We were disappointed that the chicken items we'd ordered were cheap, gristly thigh meat, rather than breast as we'd expected - this isn't specified on the menu. We never got to try the desserts... Food wasn't delivered to our table all at once as you'd expect, it all came out one by one three to five minutes apart. It was all a bit slap dash. One recommendation I have is to explicitly let customers know they only have an hour and a half when booking before being thrown out onto the street. So as to not make the young waitress feel uncomfortable, we just accepted it. I really hope you sort it out as it's not a professional look. We won't be recommending anyone visit any time soon. I contemplated writing this review but have decided I am never coming back so here you are. I visited a couple of times in August with some friends and the food was amazing - however it seems like the place has changed… The staff seem very “deer in the headlights” and not sure what to do. On top of that one of the waitresses who served us seemed like she had been crying, the same way we felt after eating our food. The food tasted old and not fresh at all. The chicken was very tough (over cooked) and looked sloppily thrown into the bowl. If I could give 0 stars I would.

This is the closest to Wagamama you will find in Torbay. Consistently good quality food

The service at the restaurant was very good in that the staff were very attentive, finding us a good table and helping us out in relation to the vegan options of which were sufficient. This is one of the best restaurants I had been to in Paignton. The Asian fusion concept works and there are some interesting combinations. We enjoyed the experience and will return.

Had booked a table for me and my partner to have dinner on Christmas Eve, Knowing places would be very busy or closed. Booked a table 5pm only to arrive at a closed restaurant. Had been sent a confirmation of booking and a reminder of our booking. No where does it say the restaurant was closed neither was the booking refused. Very disappoint.

Our 1st visit to Wabi Sabi Bay - Food is beautiful and the staff are really lovely. The only things I would criticise would be that it was quite chilly in the restaurant and the lighting needs to be dimmer as it isn't a comfortable eating environment (feels more like a cafe) Also the bell in the kitchen sounds every time food is ready to go out to a customer which isn't necessary. If these 3 things were changed it would be perfect in our opinion. If those things don't bother you then you will love it as the food was delicious.

The absolute worst restaurant me, my partner and my boy have ever been to! We not only had to wait over an hour for the food, mine came first and then we had to wait another 20 odd minutes for the rest of the food by then non of us were hungry. We ended up sending back out meals because the chicken was full of fat and the squid was inedible. The table across from us did exactly the same thing as they had the same food and they said they’re been waiting well over an hour for there food. There was only one chef and I heard him swearing a couple of times in the kitchen.. very unprofessional.

Gave one star because we couldn't give less. My partner paid almost £35 for a takeaway treat and thought we would try this as saw it had good reviews for dine in. After waiting an hour for our food when we were told it would be 30 minutes we called up (after much difficulty getting through) and were told it was out for delivery but the guy had multiple orders with him so might be another 10-20 minutes, we waited as we understand it can be busy sometimes. Another hour passed and we called up again (still struggled to get through) and were asked to hold. We heard swearing and shouting while we waited and then were told 10-15 mins, my partner explained we had already been told this and was thanked for his patience and that was pretty much it. 3 hours after ordering, they are now closed, our calls were ignored and we never received our food so had to log a claim with Just Eat. Avoid!

Having previously eaten in at the restaurant a few months ago, we were excited to have a takeaway. Unfortunately it was quite late, but the person on the phone was very apologetic. The food arrived and we were worried it would be cold but it was mostly still hot. The food was AMAZING, even better than when we ate in. We have previously lived in Bristol and London and have travelled extensively in Asia and tonight's food was as good as almost anything we've had anywhere. The highlights were the beef teriyaki and prawn curry.

Fabulous Fabulous Food!! But the service, while friendly, is slow and disorganised. It's a shame. I went twice in one week and the service was bad both times. Friends are saying the same. Such a shame.

Wabi sabi is the best food you will find in Paignton without a doubt. It’s insane. The staff there are SO friendly, aswell. I booked here for a birthday meal with a few friends. We all bought a load to share and had the best time. I left a cheeky comment when booking to try and blag a free cocktail for my birthday and the owner came out towards the end of the night with ‘mini cocktails’ for each of us. Such a sweet gesture and definitely something we will remember. Would go out of my way to recommend this place to anyone. We were served by a lady called Christina (I think) who was very down to earth and gave off big future manager vibes ;) will 100000% be coming again. Thankyou. Thankyou. Thankyou.

Gorgeous food but the restaurant is abit cold to sit inside

OMG, this place is fantastic!! We would quite happily drive back from Bristol just to eat here. Went on a quiet Tuesday and there was only one other table of customers, but by the time we left it was heaving (on a quiet Tuesday night). My Kung Po was the best I've ever eaten. The ambiance is chilled out music and relaxing benches. As my son said it's "Absolutely fantastic" with the best Katsu he'd ever had. Eat there... Every night.

Good food, good number of dishes you can choose to substitute meat for vegetables or king mushrooms. Nice atmosphere.

"Chaotic." On recommendation came with friends. Absolutely delightful team and full of bonhomie. The food generally very good. Reasonable prices. Very nicely refurbished. A welcome new addition to the Paignton restaurant scene. Very busy and atmospheric. Unusually for an Asian restaurant a short menu which is a good sign with tapas options. Great for trying different and a range of dishes. This should be 5 star but 3 today. There was confusion over our booking but quickly resolved. When booking on line you are allocated a time slot of 90 minutes. Not good, particularly so as food took over an hour to arrive . We had to give them a nudge and clearly forgotten. Pure theatre. Service is abominably slow. Staff are great and friendly. Food is excellent.

The Waiter did not notice us when we wanted to order further food for 1 of our party as the dish was too small for a main (the dumplings only 4 of them). This dish was also presented before the rest of the tables food, despite knowing we were ordering that dish as the main for one of us, so it was cold by time we all ate. Glasses piled up as waiter failed to notice we had empties. Music kept cutting out due to tech issue but it wasn't resolved, in any way, rather it was left off. No desert menu was offered to us and waiter had vanished at this point leaving us unable to ask, though we shouldn't have to. Started closing bar before we had finished but was told we didn't have to leave. It sure felt like it. And to top it off, the mains the rest of us had, which we were specifically told were really huge meals, were about normal to small size, even for one of us who doesn't eat large meals. So at least me and 1 other were left very hungry. Definitely won't recommend or go again, despite the fact the food we did have being actually very nice.

Great food, with a very friendly service. We struggle to find places that meet expectations but this went beyond expectations! Shared some local knowledge and gave us a great recommendation for an afternoon activity. Lovely ambience to the secret garden at the rear of the restaurant, will be returning when next in the area, thankyou!

Went here for lunch 5 of us ( 4 adulds and a 10yr old). Nice food and drinks all tasted nice and fresh enjoy everything. Can choose to eat with knife and fork or chopsticks. Would recommend!

First trip here but it won't be the last! Food was outstanding. Authentic, well cooked, hot and delicious. Restaurant was busy and they were struggling with staff shortages. The owner was excellent about this though and was in constant communication with all the diners. Will be returning - hopefully when there's a full staff in, it'll easily be a 5 star!

Got our food delivered which arrived on time if not early, was recommended to try but will probably not use again. The spiciest Thai Green Curry we have ever had, ended up being no flavour and just hot. Katsu curry and rice was fine. Crispy pork Bao bun was not crispy.

Food was great, and not too expensive for what you get, portions are big. Didn't have juice for kids on the menu, but they gave us mango juice which cost £5, great juice, but an strange price. All in all I liked it and would go back

Okay, so this is five stars because the food was delicious! Really good quality ingredients, tasty and well presented. The back yard dinning area is really cool and the staff are really friendly and helpful. If you’re tired of fish and chips this is the place! Can’t wait to come again next time we’re in Devon. Dreadful. Ordered online, took two hours to arrive and when it did arrive half the dishes were wrong! Would never go back. They offered as a sorry a 25% discount in there restaurant, it was a big fat No thank you as I would not want to return.

Disappointed with the food and service and shouldn’t be called “the best quality asian food in the bay”. The “secret garden” looks cheap with plastic seats with no back and we were sat a metre away from their rubbish bins. Our order took one hour to arrive but somehow the tempura prawns were undercooked with the batter being raw. It’s honestly hard to mess it up because it should just be golden brown not white. They offered a refire or a refund but it was poor quality for 5 pieces of small prawns for £7.50. The siu mai baskets weren’t clean and had rice bits sticking to it. There shouldn’t be rice anywhere near that because it’s dumpling wraps. The waitress got several orders wrong from several different tables and just gave away our order to a different table because she didn’t know who it was for. We also weren’t given any cutlery or tissues. With that quality it should be cheaper instead of £7.50 for a side dish and £12 for a katsu curry.

Poor quality food for a high price. Outside seating alongside noisy road and served to folding camping tables and chairs. Food and drink orders were being mixed up and dinner was getting cold by the time they brought cutlery and napkins. Quality of the food was lacking and some overcooked. Drinks were spilled when served and not wiped despite being asked.

Great food and plenty of it. Lovely cocktails and really friendly staff. Great value for money. I would highly recommend it.

Friggin love this place! I don't know what else to say, we're coming back soon. Only thing wrong with my meal though is the belly pork was literally just a slither of fat and nothing more, no meat between the fat or crackling top, wasn't rendered either. Other than that the service was good and we all enjoyed it :)

Such a pity that our complaint was so badly handled. After 2 hours of waiting and being fobbed off by the lady on the phone, our food turned up with half of it missing. Instead of a refund we were offered a voucher. Not satisfactory. Pity their Customer Service isn’t better.

Visited twice now and one takeaway ordered. Menu changed in between our visits and prices increased, but still delicious and different. It was very busy on our 2nd visit and unfortunately couldn't hear yourself think - let alone conversation and chat with friends. Food is wonderful and yummy, we've booked again for the garden so it wont be so noisy.

Food is so good. Satay chicken is just like the Singapore street food I’ve had. Dumplings remind me of my trip to Beijing. Kimchee is as good as I’ve tasted in Seoul. Staff are so friendly and chilled. Atmosphere is relaxed and inviting. Gotta love their outdoor eating area. ‘nuff said

We went for a bottomless brunch and it was genuinely absolute chaos. No one in the restaurant had a clue what half the food they received were they were just bringing dishes out at random and it just seemed like chaos, but what I can say is the food we did get wether we ordered it or not was absolutely stunning hence why I've gave 3 stars, I think in normal times and not when they are doing a bottomless brunch I will definatley return

Amazing tasting food. Need to work on getting food out in one go as timings were a bit off, meals came out one at a time with some delays. No problem for the two of us as we were sharing dishes.

Food was very nice packed with flavour... I ordered two small plate dishes the crispy chili squid that was well cooked and not rubbery at all and the wabi sabi nuggets that had good flavoursome coating. For main meal I had the chicken katsu and the rice was very fluffy and well cooked. Overall I would recommend anyone to try this restaurant the presentation even for a take away was pretty good

The food here is tasty and fresh. They are open for dine in but complete unprepared: no menus, no plates, no heating, 50% chance of an uncomfortable plastic bench seat and doors with no handles - plus, someone has over-ordered on fake blossom. Still, at least it's not chips!

Okay so this place is ridiculously delicious. Go to the secret garden hidden out back, and be treated to a Koh Samui beach in the back streets of Paignton. The food is sublime, we ate Gyoza, Bao Buns (which are exceptionally yummy!) and then the Udon noodles and Chicken Katsu curry. Every bite was mind blowing. They've set up a side hussle with a local business 'cocktail kings' to offer an amazing drinks service in the garden too. Oh AND it's doggie friendly!!! Would give this place 6 stars if I could. Go try it out!!!! Massively recommend!

Unbelievable. So many have recommended this place to me and my partner gets more excited by the Bao Buns than anything I can do for her so I thought I'd have to give it a go. The quality of the food is way above anything else I've ever experienced, undoubtedly on another level to the rest of Torbay. The presentation reminded me more of MasterChef than your traditional Chinese. Served in bio cartons too was a lovely touch, one which more takeaways need to take note of. The young lady and gentleman behind the counter were incredibly nice too, thank you. But please give my compliments to the kitchen. Those Bao buns particularly were just incredible. We've recently turned vegetarian and we were a little skeptical about what we would get, but the battered aubergine Bao buns were phenomenal, the filling was crispy and fresh and the buns were stupidly light and fluffy. My only complaint is you don't deliver to Torquay, that's a real shame. But still, worth the drive. Overall absolutely amazing. Thank you to you all, can't wait to enjoy this again and again.

Unfortunately I cannot give a good review. We ordered the take-away, collection from Totnes, for my husband's birthday. There was no option on the online form to enter anything about dietary requirements, that I could see anyway. I have an allergy to peanuts and wanted to order the bao buns without the addition of the peanuts sprinkled on top. So after placing the order I messaged the restaurant via FB messenger, thinking that this might be a good place to contact them as they are constantly updating posts on Facebook. I could see the message about my peanut allergy was read shortly after I sent it but there was no reply. When we picked up our meal, the bao buns had peanuts sprinkled all over them. I do appreciate that the person who read my message on Facebook might not have worked in the kitchen so would have been unable to help me directly with my request, but a response of some kind, telling me where I could best direct my message would, in any reputable company, have been the best course of action in this circumstance. We ordered lots of other things as well as the bao buns, so there was plenty for me to eat but I don't really see that this is the point. I contacted the company about my allergy and request, my message was read and then completely ignored. I have since messaged Wabi-Sabi Bay via their online contact form that asks "Tell us what you think" as there is no email address to message directly, but again, zero response, reply or recognition of my concerns. My allergy to peanuts is not life threatening but it's extremely unpleasant nonetheless. My throat becomes itchy and my lips swell up and this can last hours. I feel that regardless of the severity of my allergy, this is nothing short of negligence on their part and despite me trying to contact them directly about this at the time and afterwards, as I have received no response at all, I don't feel I have any other choice than to write my concerns on a public forum. It seems mad to me that a restaurant would totally ignore the requests of a person who has an allergy and just take the stance of: "Sorry you get what you're given, we refuse to recognise that you've made a request or accommodate you by simply NOT putting peanuts on the dish!" If only they had realised that it could make all the difference in the world to someone by putting in just that extra little bit of customer care. We were so excited to try your food and would have become fully loyal customers of yours if this had been a good experience. Sadly your complete lack of care, empathy and professionalism means we will be taking our business elsewhere and recommending that others do the same.
