Vroni's in Glasgow City

First time here and had the cheese board with a selection of wine.

I really like Vroni's. I've been coming for years and it's probably my wife's favourite bar. The issue is Vroni's, like so many other places now, is staffed by miserable liberals who are perpetually angry with their lot. These people are everywhere in the hospitality industry. Is at a generational thing? They all have zero manners and treat you with contempt. It's strange when you consider the demographic of Vroni's, we have young, insolent Greta Thunbergs behind the bar rolling their eyes at us. The blonde girl, with the folded arms and glowering stare, was frankly a disgrace. I'm losing count of the establishments I'm leaving behind because of staff like this. It's particularly galling when you're as polite as can be, yet continually have to deal with these joyless, hive mind drones. Another one falls. Sad times.

Love Vroni’s, my fav bar in Glasgow. So you can imagine my disappointment when I visited with friends tonight for a drink. On entering the bar I noticed that the music was louder than it normally is, to the point we couldn’t hear each others conversations. So I asked one of the chaps behind the bar if it would be possible to turn the sound down a little, his reply was an arrogant flat NO! I then mentioned that I had been in on the previous Friday and the music wasn’t as loud, his reply was OK and he walked away, what a rude man, guy with short hair, slim, arrogant, not customer focussed and shouldn’t be working in hospitality.

My favourite wine bar in Glasgow! Great atmosphere, staff and most improtanty, the drinks! It always feels special coming for a drink here, I'm not sure why but I do love it. A solo visit, catch up with a friend or a romantic drink before or after a date... this is the place Lot's of variety and the staff will give you any help or advice you need on the wines or spirits. It is small and sometimes very busy, I prefer to go on weekdays/evenings. Be preppared if your going on a Fri/Sat night. Enjoy :)

Just back from a visit preordered cheeseboard with wine flights. Great place to spend a couple of hours after shopping. Special call out to Cass from Vancouver she never stops and so attentive. Definitely be back next time we are in Glasgow.

Great choice of wines at various prices, including one of the best selections of organic wines I’ve seen in a wine bar. The staff were lovely and the atmosphere was cosy and very welcoming.

Lovely visit to Vronis ( was it Smiths in the 80s?). Still a great vibe and friendly service. Cheese and wine flights and had a lovely time. Many thanks, especially to Evan, from North Carolina

Tried twice to book using voucher. Refused on both occasions; neither of which was a peak time. Had to get a voucher refund. It's a restaurant without availability.

Unfortunately, due to a shortage of 'BAR STAFF' (24.8.24) the wee joint wasn't allowing anyone in ( door staff seemed otherwise occupied )..... So disappointing as this is our 2000 plus members club 'go-to' bar when in town... Disgruntled (ex) patron.

Went in for just drinks, very lively and an excellent selection of wines.

This is a return visit after a previous, enjoyable experience. We bought a voucher for the “Wine Flight with cheese” on line. It was £29 and well worth it. This is the second time we’ve tried this and it was as good as our previous experience. You can choose from various wine selections. Each selection comes with three wines. There’s a number of selections e.g. dry wines, red wines, champagne etc. Please note some of the selections have an additional supplement. It comes with a selection of four cheeses and crackers. My wife and I both chose the dry wine flight which was very nice. The cheeses were delicious. I’m not normally a fan of Brie but the one we were served was very nice. Service is very good and the staff are friendly, focused, knowledgeable and professional. I’ll definitely be back again

We had a relaxing couple of hours drinking a 500ml carafe of Rioja followed by a coffee. Characterful premises, excellent service and good wine made for a great experience.

I've been here many times before when I was working and it was always a bust atmospheric bar. This time we came as a couple for the wine flight + cheeseboard deal. The wines available were all excellent, as was the cheeseboard. Not a meal in itself, but plenty of crackers, chutney and grapes as well. We paid a mere £3 to upgrade to the Big & Bold selection, which was well worth the extra. All in all a great experience. Try and source the voucher that is sometimes available for this deal.

What a lovely place! Ambience, lighting, and history makes it even more special. Popped in for a couple of drinks here. Great choice of wines and beers. Didn't have food, so I can't comment, hence the 4 stars, but I loved the dancing doorman! He looks like he loves his job!

Pleasant setting, excellent wine but not pleasant staff.

Another gifted Itison voucher, another place I've never been to before but will gladly return. Two wine flights and a cheeseboard (cheese has to be pre-booked) and we went with the Italian wines - white, rose, red. The friendly staff were very helpful and talked us through the wines and cheese and we really enjoyed the experience. It's quite a cosy and intimate place but the couple next to us were nice and told us they're in there most weekends, which says a lot. By the time we went to leave there wasn't much standing room left either, it fills up quickly. Liked it so much, we bought more vouchers to do it all over again.

Friendly bar with lots of choice of wine and a good atmosphere. Recommended.

The cheesebaord and wine pairings were great. I chose the rose wines, which were great and went very well with the selection of cheeses

Can't comment on food as not been served although been here 25 mins, waitress so rude. Had to ask for her to take my order.

Cute. Maybe the music was a little too "charged" at times, but maybe I stopped by at the wrong time. Anyway interested choice of wines by the glass. The girls behind the counter seem nice and smiling. A place where I will definitely return for another glass!

Very nice interior and atmosphere. They had a nice selection of wines by the glass and of those I tried they displayed good typicity! My only gripe would be the red wine I ordered was too warm, on the other hand I had a glass of white which was served at an appropriate temp(aka not from the fridge like a beer) and was very enjoyable

Nice place for a decent wine. Marked it down to 4 stars since it is always too busy and is quite expensive, still enjoy it on the rare occasion however

I felt I had to make good on the poor revue I wrote on Monday about here. I said they didn't answer the phone and as a consequence we couldn't book a cheese and wine offer. They were actually closed, but called us on Tuesday morning and arranged to accommodate us later that day. Couldn't have been nicer too. I'd just suggest that they update their Web page if they decide to close for the day. But, great afternoon after all

Nadie ha contestado el teléfono. Suena durante años antes de aislarte por completo. Envié un correo electrónico con frustración solo para recibir una respuesta estándar que decía que estaban ocupados y que se comunicarían con nosotros dentro de las 48 horas, lo cual claramente es demasiado tarde para la reserva propuesta. No deberían vender vales por una oferta que no pueden atender.

I was doing a double-take on the reviews, as another Ryan Williamson had just recently reviewed the place. Realised it wasn't me, so still a chance to give my penny's worth: Very cosy and intimate venue. Yes it does wines/champagne by the glass but also a good selection of draught beers, cocktails and your usual spirits (solid whisky offering) The one thing I love about this place and what keeps me coming back is that it's always a nice crowd in here. Think middle aged (generally), well behaved, in good spirits and engaged in good conversation. I think the term 'wine bar' scares off the bampots. The guy on the door -who I've seen every visit- is a true pro and can spot trouble a mile off. Not sure why a cheeseboard has to be pre-ordered. I may want a cheeseboard, I may not, I think it'd be nice to be able to make that decision whilst on the premises. Let's face it, it's some cheeses and accompaniments on a board, not a suckling pig. Bizarre! Try grab a table on the mezzanine, it's quieter and more chill up there.

Had some great wine, but no where near as much as you might expect, and it's mostly overpriced. Staff were a mixed bag. Great when the place was quiet and pretty awful as it got busy. Even got accused of scaring other patrons because I simply asked some people standing next to me at the bar how they were getting on. Pretty gross honestly. Will not be back.

Chanced on this place and loved it. Very welcoming yet private atmosphere and an extensive impressive wine list. Cava by the glass is usual and was perfect. Partner had red wine of the month - from Franschoek. A perfect pre dinner stop off.

Great atmosphere, staff accommodating and good selection of ales and wines.

We enjoyed four very nice glasses of red wine here around a meal at another eatery. Food from here needs to be booked in advance. We wanted to try a range, so ordered four different glasses and shared them between us. They were very reasonably priced (£5-9) but all very enjoyable.

Just tried to buy two glasses of champagne but they tried to palm off last nights dregs. Off to the Ivy.

Sadly a disappointing experience. I have been going here for about 10 years when having special day out in Glasgow. I won't be back. The cocktail menu had been depleted. The bramble liqueur carafe for two was like water priced £20.00. Previously week day deals for cocktails but unfortunately no more. I will have to find another special bar in Glasgow for my celebration events.

Service a bit slow at start as girl chatted away failing to notice is till someone else pointed out we were standing there... Thereafter, all great. Cheese and wine flights were fab.

Agreed to meet friends for a couple of bottles of wine before a show, was left standing at bar for 15-20 mins, whilst 2 girls behind bar laughed and joked with a mobile phone. They didn’t even acknowledge me or say be with you in moment. People sitting at bar agreed that this was disgraceful!! Left and went to All Bar One to meet friends, got table and wine within 5 mins plus a nice friendly waitress. We visit Vronis regularly and this hasn’t happened before however my friends and I are very unlikely to go back!!

I was treated to a wine flight and cheeseboard by my bestie yesterday. An early birthday treat.We often watch out for wine flight deals coming up so we know what to expect. However yesterday’s experience was the best by far. From the friendly welcome through to the great explanation of the wines and cheeses/ accompaniments , our amazing server was simply spot on. The choice of cheeses this time was especially good and we polished off the lot. Thankyou team Vronis, and sorry that we didn’t catch the name of the excellent staff member who looked after us so well.

Super wine bar with plenty of atmosphere - if you can get in. Entry on Friday and Saturday nights is limited and even if you do get in you'll be hard pushed to get a seat. Drinks can be expensive. No food other than crisps. Staff under pressure, but can still be helpful. Recommended.

I went here on a Friday with my husband and enjoyed my afternoon noon there for a drink. Staff were nice and attentive. Was met with a whole different experience on the Saturday when with a friend. We were met with a not so happy bouncer on the door who did not allow us entry. he said it was too busy. A young blond staff member appeared, and her attitude was a disgrace. Talking to respectful ladies by suggesting to my sober friend that she had been drinking and go take yourself elsewhere!!! And all for asking a couple of questions. I was flabbergasted.

Had the house white wine in here last night and can honestly say it was one of the worst I’ve ever tasted. If you’re going to charge around £22 for a bottle of wine then it really shouldn’t taste like vinegar which all 3 of us agreed it tasted like. It was an Italian wine and was the cheapest they had so they obviously didn’t care what it tasted like. Really don’t get the appeal of this place… overpriced rubbish!

I visited Vroni’s midweek after a day in the city centre. It was quiet, but I didn’t feel as though it was empty or lacked atmosphere. Good music, good wine and the staff were very welcoming. I opened a good book and sat for a few hours. I’ll definitely be back.

Comfortable and indeed popular wine bar which appeals to people of a certain age.

Sadly, they no longer do meat or cheese boards. The food menu is limited to crisps, nuts, and olives. That said, it's still a very nice place to go for a couple drinks.

Had visited a few years back and as back in Glasgow decided to revisit. It has a really lovely feel to it and although on my own felt very comfortable. Wine selection great perhaps a little expensive but it is a wine bar. Cocktail of the day Jaffa cake martini, rude not to and it was perfectly made by the barman who was so friendly. Please visit - it's a little haven of peace in the busy city .

Another fabulous visit tonight on an Itison wine flight and cheeseboard deal. Choice of wine flights is much more varied than before. And the cheese board is amazing. The blue especially) . For the record I don’t like blue but am now a convert. Ps tried a Verano Spritz for the first time too cos I’m greedy . It is SO good. Great atmosphere and staff.

Been before and had the wine flight with cheeseboard for 2 which we enjoyed so much we had it again. The wine flight menu has more options and although we stuck to what we had previously I'm sure others will appreciate the broader range of wines on offer. As before lovely atmosphere and a very enjoyable evening.

You could easily walk past Vroni's without noticing it, because it is a candlelit, intimate wine bar. And that is exactly why I recommend it. A rare oasis in central Glasgow with a superb range of wines that allows you to relax away from the hustle and bustle.

Visiting Glasgow with friends we decided to visit Vroni's for wine flights and charcuterie after checking them out on-line. Looked like the ideal start to our visit. Alas it wasn't to be. Firstly the website states that no reservations after 3pm which wasn't an issue as we were going to be there after 3pm. We arrived approximately 3.15 to find the majority of empty tables had reserved signs in them. When we enquired about this we were told several tables had been booked for 2.45 but the customers called to say they were running late. I detect a loophole in their system. We were told there might be a table upstairs. There was one unreserved table there. Secondly, when we asked to see the wine flight options and the charcuterie options we were asked if we had vouchers. We said we didn't have vouchers but would still like to purchase the food we were told that that couldn't happen. We could only have the charcuterie if we had a voucher. Needles to say we didn't stay. Very disappointed as the food looked very tasty in the website.
