Skip's Seafood Bar and Grill in Glasgow City

I have visited this place many times, and I've brought my friends, who have now also become frequent visitors. The food quality is exceptional, and the service is consistently delightful. It's truly a hidden gem.

A busy wee place, with great food & friendly staff.

Lovely restaurant in Battlefield, Southside. Have eaten here twice, excellent service and tasty food each time. Our last visit was a party of 8 in the evening. Everyone enjoyed their food, we all had a starter and main. They are very accommodating about dairy free, gluten free etc. not many vegan/veggie options so perhaps not the best choice for that, but if you love your seafood or meat and chicken dishes I don’t think you would be disappointed. Nice tables for 4 in booths, this time we had a long table in the middle for 8 which worked well, nice atmosphere and friendly staff. Would definitely recommend.

Superb food at excellent prices. Went during the day with friends settled for the 10 for £10 , which was exceptional value .I opted for the Lobster Ravioli 🦞 which came with a generous portion of garlic bread, it was absolutely delicious 😋. We will definitely be making this our regular.

We chose this restaurant due to a recommendation from my sister , it did not disappoint! The options were plentiful, it was hard to choose as everything sounded amazing and different. The service was excellent, our waiter was a smart gentleman with tattoos, he was so lovely and even listening to him speak with other customers he was very good at his job. We had mussels frites and lobster ravioli as well as two desserts , portions were great . Absolutely no complaints from us , we will definitely return .

Fasted here on there 10 for 10 which is 10 main courses for £10, not the set menu that's advertised. There were 3 of us and we all enjoyed the food. Space is tight so thankfully it wasn't too busy. 1 star deducted for the cost of a soda and lime. This is free or around 60p in most bars and restaurants. In here it's £3.50 which is shocking.

Visited today for the first time. Absolutely brilliant. Food was excellent. Steak pie was recommended and we were not disapointed. Languistine and steak dishes were also very nice. Very relaxed atmosphere and very reasonably priced. Staff were very pleasang and helpful..

our fave place for quality fish and chips and the best service from staff too, especially the happy manageress, wonderful girl, cheapest in the southside for a fish tea or coffee complete with bread and tartare sauce etc for £9.95, u cant beat that .

Realmente siento pena por el camarero, ya que obviamente fue dejado en la estacada por el personal de la cocina.

Tuvimos un fabuloso almuerzo de pastel de filete hoy en skips .. lo recomendaría especialmente el vino de rosa 😁 primera vez no habrá el último 👍

Salpicamos y tuvimos el chateaubriand y una langosta entre nosotros. La comida era increíble, el servicio tan amable, el lugar de recomendación de vino. Incluso tuvimos espacio para el postre, uno de los mejores pasteles de queso de la historia, y un pudín de toffee pegajoso perfecto.

Mine & my boyfriends fav place to eat out on the southside. We have never left without clearing our plates ❣️ & the staff always go above and beyond 🌟

Myself and my partner went there Saturday night, it wasn’t overly busy, the staff were good, attentive, and provided quality service. Our food, wow! We both enjoy sea food, and find uk seafood okay, but damn this was good! And the value for money was 100% there. My partner got the platter which was heaped! It was £28 and had four langoustine’s heaps of calamari, squid, sole, monkfish, king prawns, oysters, scallops, and god knows what else but god it was good! Myself, I ordered a half lobster and was not disappointed! £22 for a delicious decent size lobster that had been very well cooked and we even squeezed in a desert each. Would 100% recommend, and we discovered it’s dog friendly, but we didn’t bring ours as it was a date night for us.

Popped in for a quick lunch. Seafood casserole was outstanding, super fresh produce and very reasonably priced, Hubby had the fish tea and was also really delish and high quality fish. Fab service, relaxed dining. We’ll be back to try all the amazing things on the menu!

Vistes for the first time recently and had a really lovely evening. The food was delicious and the staff were attentive, friendly and welcoming. I’m looking forward to going back. Would definitely recommend

Re-review! Place seems to have been turned around. Service was awesome, food was very food again and the atmosphere was om point. Manager on duty was very attentive and we had a great evening.

I would start with saying that SKIPS has been a regular spot for us for maybe two years, this was our third visit since the start of July. We had been regulars at the Battlefield rest nearby but liked the cosy interior of Skips and were drawn back time and again to decent food and friendly, attentive staff too that knew what they were doing. On the occasion of our last visit (only a week prior to this visit) we had a long chat with the owner who was seemingly very interested in our patronage which we thought as natural for a new owner intent on getting is offering right (or at least we assumed new owner as we had never seen him before and that was the impression we got, a man carefully finding his way and intent on getting it right). When we arrived on this occasion the usual staff were conspicuous by their absence. Service was slow and nervous but understandable if they were new. Most of our allotted 2 hrs from our reservation was spent waiting to be served. We had booked for early evening to avoid being rushed and because we prefer the place less busy (5pm). A few people were in, a gentle buzz in the place and we settled into our booth for an enjoyable couple of hours. Service to the table was slow but once food arrive (sides were forgotten and brought in due course of main course consumption) it was decent and everyone enjoyed. The place that was quiet when we arrived was starting to get quite busy an hour later and we were pleased for the owner who was front of house - but he was clearly feeling the pressure, stacking and racking diners at the all too small bar. The problem for us came after we were invited to order dessert which we did (with 30 mins still on the clock of our reservation). Shortly after ordering we were approached by the owner who addressed the table top whilst gripping the edges of same quietly asking us if we could vacate the table for a recent arrival. A problem with their system not recording a booking which he implied was "us" although we had been greeted and confirmed with first name when surname only was given upon our arrival. A free dessert at the bar was offered if we would give up our comfortable table to help them manage their mismanagement. We declined, settled the bill (without a tip for the first time) and will never return. My advice to the owner manager. Get someone in to run it. This is clearly not your game. I can never remember being asked to vacate a table for someone else anywhere in the world. I travel extensively on business, eat out as a result more than most and have never been treated so disrespectfully and unprofessionally anywhere, I had to come to SKIPS in my home town for that. We will return to the battlefield rest as our regular where the service is never anything short of consummate professionalism, the food is terrific and if the decor is not quite to our liking as Skips it is still top of the class where SKIPS under this management is wearing the dunce cap and facing the wall.

My starter and main were both tepid, the whitebait starter was disappointing due to being under cooked, when my steak arrived the veg along with it was just warm and the sweet which was a lemon tart had a nice flavour but had the texture of custard. A disappointing evening.

Visited here recently during the week to try their fish tea, and it was lovely. Fresh fish, and great portion sizes, the restaurant was quiet when we went around 3pm, but it was very nice and relaxed. Very friendly staff and quick service too, looking forward to visiting again at some point to try out some of their seafood dishes!

Went for dinner via a voucher, food was good, quick service, staff friendly and knowledgeable. Would definitely recommend.

Been here twice recently using an Itison deal which was great value. Lovely food and service.

We would like to try visit Skips again . We were here prior to a concert and onky the events menu was available therefore didn't get the full choice which looked great . Staff were absolutely lovely , interior nice snd the food we did have was good too however very slow to bring food for starter and main . We feel this was only as they were so busy due to event , so as said will definitely be giving them another go !

Went into battlefield rd Glasgow branch for dinner. They had a deal called steak Tuesday, wot a bargain, 2 sirloins, 3 shared sides, choice of sauce and a glass of wine each £30 for2. Didn’t expect much but it was amazing and piping hot which I love. Food was fabulous and David the guy who served us was fabulous and so helpful and pleasant. Wouldn’t hesitate to go back there. !!

Generous portions, kind and welcoming staff, my go to place to round off good Saturday nights. It was actually Baldy Chefs not Skips but they are only metres apart so easy mistake to make.

We were in after the match on Saturday and the food was delicious! We had the mixed seafood starter and steaks for mains! The food and drinks were all fantastic! Franco and David’s service was amazing too. Will certainly be back!

Excellent seaood, the crab fritters were divine, the seafood stew packed with well cooked ingredients, the calamari meltingly soft in crispy coating and the crab on sourdough were all totally delicious. The steak and burgers went down a treat too. Super friendly staff gave us excellent service. We had a great time and hope to be back soon.

First impression was good, warm welcome and nice to see restaurant style was bistro/intimate. We had a limited menu due to an ITISON deal that had good options for our taste. However, Crab Rarebit was returned as the crab element was less than a teaspoon. They served my husband their Veg Tempura that was wonderful. I had not chosen wisely. Second attempt at Rarebit was lacking in crabmeat again but was warm and came with tartare sauce this time - crab meat increased to 2 teaspoons worth. Steak Pie was served in a Soup bowl minus their promised gravy.

We found this wee place on Google whilst searching for Seafood restaurants and fancied giving it a try. We went on Steak Tuesdays which looks like an amazing deal (£30 per couple for steaks, wines and sides) but we had our heart set on seafood so went for the 3x course market menu for £25. The food was amazing. We had squid and crab rarebit to start and both had the seafood stew. All cooked to perfection. Then topped it with brownies and a lemoncelo tart. We will definitely be back next week for the steak Tuesday. Friendly staff, easy parking and amazing food! What's not tae like.

Cocktails we got where lovely, bit of a salty aftertaste to them but overall lovely. Shane Haroldson was very welcoming to me and very hospitable. Ordered prawns, weird white sticky substance which was salty, however tasted amazing. Will definitely be back for more

This was our first visit to Skips Seafood Bar and Diner in Battlefield. Very tasty it was too. I did the foodie equivalent of double denim... Fish followed by fish! Well... It is a seafood restaurant! Be rude not to. 😎 Whitebait starter for me. Few places served it, which is such a shame as it is a favourite of mine. We both had the fantastic value fish tea for main. My dessert was a delicious fruit crumble with ice cream. My wife had the Tiramisu! She actually makes a legendary Tiramisu and always tries it in a restaurant, only to be disappointed. Her verdict of Skips Tiramisu? "It tastes like mine"! 😯😯😯😎♥️ Well I never! Tea and coffee as part of the fish tea deal rounded off a fabulous feast with fantastic service too. Planning a return already. 😎

Had the Sunday roast. Mussels had hardly any sauce and were tasteless and at 1pm they had no seabass left. I had fish and chips. The chips were the nicest part of the meal. Wouldn’t rush back.

Revisited tonight 10/1/24 to give a second chance......one word AWFUL. Never be back!! 4 people in restaurant and our starters were tepid. Seafood casserole below average and fish and chips really below average......same owner as tinto next door which is a regular haunt of mine no comparison whatsoever skips 1/5 tinto 5/5.......I cancelled battlefield rest to go here wont be making that mistake again!

We were there and there was water dripping from the ceiling,buckets everywhere,pouring down on two widow seats then also at the bar,disgrace ,what if someone had slipped

We shared a seafood platter. Best ever! As was the rest of our meal. We were delighted to have found this gem of a place. A lovely evening. Food, service, atmosphere just perfect. Loved this restaurant. Potentially the best restaurant/bar I've eaten. The food was phenomenal. I'm a big seafood fan and I've been to places where the seafood wasn't quite right. But it was cooked and presented to perfection. The sauces used for the mussels and the lamb were really nice. Great presentation. My mum loved her cocktail. The service was amazing too. Jose was really nice and attentive and the barman. I didn't catch his name but he was really nice too. Good guys. Felt like the feeling of the place was very relaxed but at the same time it felt like you were getting a really good dining experience. Again, genuinely wouldn't say this lightly, but it's probably my favourite restaurant. Will definitely be back. My wife wants to go... So yeah, I'll definitely be back.

Lovely food, very helpful staff, was restricted menu due to an event at Hampden, but allowed my wife to order from the main menu as she is vegetarian and couldn't have anything from the set menu Looking forward to going back when the full menu is available too

Pity they don't do zero stars.....they have the lights on, doors opened cocktail sign illuminated.....you park up pay for parking then Justin belfort who's on his phone tells you...."we're deep cleaning the kitchen, not opened till 12pm".......we only went to give the place a 2nd chance as our first visit was a solid 3 out of 10. Does this place look closed to you??

Wonderful spot to enjoy a meal. The food was amazing. The service was fantastic and I absolutely loved this treasure. We found the prices really reasonable. Next time we'll invite family as well! Thank you guys for a great meal!

The food was bland and burnt, Also when I asked for a cocktail I wasn't able to get one as there was no one available at the time that knew how to make one. The service was good though.

Had late lunch here with my wife this afternoon and it was just first class in every way . Skips owners have done a fantastic job converting bookies into a fine dining restaurant the decor and ambiance just perfect Started with langoustine then fillet steak My wife Scallops sirloin steak And of course we had to try the sweet menus fruit crumble white chocolate cheese cake Every bit of our food was delicious we both had a lovely experience whilst dining in skips I would give it 11 out of 10 highly recommended by us

I enjoyed it here, most dishes were great and you can't find fault with the value on the £9 fish tea deal. The oysters, ceviche and lobster ravioli were excellent. I wasn't a big fan of the fruit crumble as it was powdery and the cinnamon was overpowering. I'd definitely come back though.

Recently visited for our 2nd time. The Seafood platter for 2, did not disappoint! Lovely staff Jose, Lucy & Paul, all went the extra mile. It was our anniversary and when the restaurant was a little quieter in the evening, they even took a song request. Great banter & lovely relaxing atmosphere.

What a great place to eat and chill. The atmosphere was amazing. The food even better jazz and josh were outstanding and so friendly, they really made our night. We'll done lads well lads you both amazing at your jobs. Also comments to the chef as the steaks were up there with the best I've had and cooked to perfection. Will definitely be back soon as this is the one of the best places in the southside due to the service and chilled vibes. Back ground was also brilliant 👏🏼 hats off to you all ❤️

Lovely spot for a bit of lunch. Had 2 courses for £15, couple drinks and an espresso. Was yummy, tho it being a seafood bar and grill thought I would have anchovies in my ceaser salad, not a problem though as it was good. Nice service, bar man and waitress were friendly. Good experience with a fair price point 👌

I had the traditional Fish Tea which consisted of haddock, chips, mushy peas, tea, bread &butter for £9. I thought it was good value for money. It was very yellow because it was cooked in rapeseed oil - if i had one thing I wasn’t keen on it was the bread, it was just ordinary thin sliced bread. Overall though, good value and i would go again

My girlfriend and I had fish and chips was very small and tasteless (it was Coley) which was disappointing for the the price (£16.50) and we left quite hungry.The service was quite slow; it took a long time to get a drinks order, which is not the end of the world I know. The bar setting is nice but I wouldn't rush back.

Can only comment on breakfast. We both had the full breakfast and it was fine, nothing special. Service was very good because we were the only ones there except a table of one of the kitchen staff's mates. But this did mean it was lacking in atmosphere and felt a bit awkward. Might be better at another time of day.

First time and we went for a family occasion. If I could give 10 stars I would for sure. David attended our table and what a friendly guy plus excellent service David provided. The food was really good and every one of the varied dishes could not have been better. Do not hesitate to try Skip's and all the other staff were also excellent...Well Done.

Chased down the street and manhandled by 2 of the most stupidly dressed barman I’ve ever seen. Accusing me of leaving without paying - only to return to the bar to find my friend standing waiting to pay (why would I try to steal 2 coronas). Barman did try to apologise but they can ram they’re apologies. Have a think before resorting to putting hands on paying customers please. Won’t be back and lucky I didn’t report the incident to the police.

This place is superb excellent quality of food at a great price. Staff so friendly and helpful. Defo be back soon.

Amazing meal at skips! staff were very friendly and attentive. Given free mock-tails while we waited for table (which were very tasty) our starters were very good and the steaks were cooked to perfection and Mac and cheese was amazing, beef jus sauce was the best sauce I’ve ever tasted! Overall just a great atmosphere and enjoyable night. Will definitely come again! 😁

We have just been to Skip's and gotten the best fish and chips of our lives. Only made better by the very reasonable price and incredibly kind, attentive staff. The fact that they, not only welcome dogs, but cater extensively for them too is just the icing on the cake. The decor is beautiful, the toilets are nice and clean and the atmosphere was great. Would highly recommend to anyone and we will be back to sample more Skips delights.

Had a wonderful Sunday roast/birthday dinner with my family. Food was fantastic and our table of 10 was extremely well looked after. This was my second visit. Thank you everyone.

Great service and amazing food!

Waited too long for drinks whilst barman talked to colleagues. Strange atmosphere where it appeared that a number of kitchen staff were regularly out on restaurant floor and staff coming in and out front door. Not what you'd expect to experience in a restaurant. Food was nice but presentation lacking.

Delicious crab cakes, double-decker burger & roast chicken. Cool interior design & friendly staff. They are still learning so just a teeny bit slow getting the bill organised & paid. We will be back!
