Food is amazing best burgers in town

Came here for dinner and drinks with my husband before heading to a gig. We booked ahead and were seated immediately despite arriving 15 minutes early. All the staff were really friendly and attentive. Everything we ordered was brought to our table really quickly. The food was really tasty and menu was quite varied. We will definitely be back!

Dropped in for pre dinner drinks, welcoming staff, nice atmosphere and one-off thw best spicy margaritas I've ever had...So good I had 3!

We ate very well at Amsterdam. There is a terrace and the street is quiet. The waitresses are nice (and even more so the one who sometimes comes to Antibes in France 🇫🇷 😉)

Me and 2 other friends came here on the 5th of April. Utterly disappointed and shocked at the service we received. Waited a total of 2 hours for our food which was just small nachos and 2 burgers. Was told there was a "technical error" but that doesn't excuse look warm food , cold nachos that are soggy with wet paper stuck to it all. After getting asked how our food was and saying our complaints nothing was done about it just an " oh okay" then asked for the bill twice to then wait another 30 minutes. If you want people to not walk out unpaid you can't keep people waiting 3 hours!!!

Best smashed burger ever...period! We are from Toronto and came over to visit family last July and we come back this summer, we will be going straight there for the mac and cheese and the smashed burger. Sooooo good!!

Nice wee spot on merchant city. Stopped in for a pint on a sunny day and sat outside. There’s limited seats in the sun because they have a marquee type thing up, given it’s April though that’s probably sensible. Imagine in summer they’ll probably take it down. Cool decor on the inside and staff were all friendly with quick service. There was also people regularly going round tables to take away empties. Unfortunately didn’t try the food but maybe next time!

Fantastic afternoon to celebrate birthday. Booked the mezzanine area and we weren’t rushed to leave. Service and staff were brilliant, very friendly and accommodating. Food great. Lovely atmosphere in the place

One of my favourites in Glasgow great staff, great atmosphere, good range for drinks and prices and the Wednesday quiz is brilliant.

Always a great welcome for me and my dog. Staff here and at St Lukes know how to make customers feel at home.

Been coming here for about ten years and forever my fave place . Popped in and was given a table at short notice and young gent who attended to us couldn’t have been more attentive and just really helped the buzz of the place …great guy! And as always the food was great and the atmosphere brill ✨❤️

Frozen chicken burger for 13.50? Sanders sando yuck! Horrible taste (synthetic) I can understand the nachos being a bit soggy but still not tasty. 2.50 odd for a can of bru or coke ordered 3 never come with my order. All I know is don't EVER EVER ORDER FROM HERE AGAIN IF YOU WANT GOOD FOOD!!!

Went in for a couple of drinks and it's a great pub. The staff were brilliant and helpful in suggesting a good beer on tap. Plenty of seats available when I went in. I'd recommend going to this pub for a few drinks.

I was at a loose end last boxing say and ended up wandering into town and going for something to eat on my own with the dog. Staff so friendly and welcoming and great food

We went in here on a Saturday afternoon, just looking for somewhere to start the day off for a couple of hours and it was a great find. The friendly staff were really helpful, and found us a table for four despite it being busy, and answered any questions we had about what food was on offer. Speaking of the food, it was great! Simple and very, very tasty little street food dishes that we all wished we'd ordered more of – the tacos were perfect! Good drinks, great food, and a relaxed atmosphere. We'll definitely be back.

Had drinks here no food however since having the drinks me and partner had nothing but stomach issues throwing up, burning etc a nice place but an issue with the ice or something ?

Had a great first experience at the Amsterdam. Came here with my mum for something small to eat & a few pints before heading off to the Hydro. The beer we had was honestly beautiful. We can't even remember the name but its gave us an excuse to come back to find out (and we can't wait!). Not only was the selection of beers brilliant but the steak tacos were 10/10. The chicken tacos not to much, we were slightly disappointed with them as they lacked seasoning but regardless it won't stop us coming back. All the staff were also 10/10 and couldn't do enough for us despite it being mobbed! Cheers guys!

Excelente comida y un montón de opciones en el menú de bebidas también. Personal amable. No es el servicio más rápido, pero sigue siendo muy bueno. Sin duda recomendaría las hamburguesas y patatas fritas cargadas.

Loved this bar! Located on top of a speakeasy bar. Decent range of cocktails and if you ask, they can make u a nice mocktail too. Bar is quite cosy and intimate with lots of nice murals around

Gorgeous bar with amazing ambience which also happened to have world rock climbing championships on the telly so we got engrossed in that! The beers were great and cold, and the loaded chips were delicious. We'd have ordered more but were still so full from a late lunch. Would be back again for sure - I struggle to believe staff were rude as suggested a few reviews down from this!

Ordered a vegan burger...the lighting in the bar was poor so couldn't see what was written...when it arrived it was tiny and had no accompanying fries ( which most places do ) complained to the lovely waitress and said it was unnaceptable and i'd like a refund please...no problems from her...but the barman ( who says he wasn't the manager or owner ) who came over to refund the £13.00 back to my card seemed to be under the impression I required a step by step account of why they charged this amount ( it was bought in and due to it being plant based!!! ) I explained that I eat out alot...I've been plant based for 35 years...never had such a small portion for such a large amount...he could have just refunded my money without giving me his opinion...I might not have written this review...hope my money's back in my account or I'll ve back in...should point out that this is not the chef's who cooked it or waitress who served it's fault...the fault lies with whoever thought it's ok to charge £13.00 for a non meat burger with nothing else...and with the barman for his negative attitude...went to Mono's had a huge plant based burger with lots of pickles and a huge side of homemade fries...happy as! M. ☆

A really nice place in the centre. Food is generous and very good. The only bad thing is that they seem understaffed, although they're always friendly.

One of the only bars open late during the week, so we went to this pub a couple times during our stay in Glasgow. The bar staff were super friendly and the drinks were more than reasonable. The hefe on tap is deadly. We only went in for drinks, but the prices did not seem unreasonable at all.

Nice bar until I saw a young waitress bringing out a tray of pints to a huge table sitting outside and in the doorway notice there was something in one of the pints and dip her bare hand into it to remove whatever it was and then continue to serve the pints to the unknowing patrons !! Bad hygiene !! Wouldn’t go back for that alone. Disgusting.

Sun-trap outdoor seating area on a sunny day. The cocktails are good, I had the best Bloody Merry in town! Really!! Servers are all very friendly and efficient! 👍🏼🍹

The Amsterdam was a cool looking pub/restaurant that caught our attention as our family wandered the streets of Edinburgh from the Cathedral to George square and the Modern Art Museum. The food was standard pub fare, but quite good and satisfying. Disappointingly, I was driving and didn't feel comfortable ordering alcohol, but this looked like a great place to do so. The hostess who met us at the door was very helpful and let us check the menu to be sure they they would have suitable vegan options for my daughter, which they did (the "No Clucks Given" faux chicken sandwich). She was also our very efficient waitress. The picture of my "Cluck in Smoke" smokey chicken and cheese sandwich only shows one onion rings on top because I ate the other one (there were 2) as soon as the waitress set it in front of me. My son had chicken strips, which I think they called boneless chicken wings. My wife had 3 tacos. You could mix and match fillings. They were good, she said, but the size of street tacos. Very nice place. I suspect that they are busy in the evenings, but they we wide open for lunch.

Just in for drinks and it was a brilliant atmosphere with a great variety of drinks. I had a north Macedonian red wine whichwas delicious.

El portero de la puerta era un trabajo que valía la pena. Visitamos con un grupo de amigos, y se detuvo los últimos 2 caminando por la puerta y dijo que no podían entrar. Cuando se le pidió que diera una razón, no lo hizo. Seguía mirando extrañamente en silencio. Pregunté de nuevo por qué no se nos permitía entrar y él nunca dio una razón. Solo habíamos tomado unas copas, así que no pudo haber sido porque estábamos demasiado borrachos. Nunca tuve este problema en ningún otro lugar de Glasgow, así que no volveré a intentarlo aquí!

In here right now and just finished lunch. Well the food is perfect it suits the atmosphere with the flavours and simply taste amazing and for presentation it's 10/10 hats off to the chef. Staff are lovely willing to help in anyway so again brilliant team in here. And atmosphere is spot in very cool laid back place with great decor. Why hop on a plane to Amsterdam when you can simply come here instead ✌️

Cocktails were good, staff were lovely. Tables were really quite dirty, as was the restroom.

Really enjoyed the cheeseburger (I got extra cheese which slapped), the seasoned fries were a bit much / heavy on the seasoning - in hindsight I should have got normal salted fries. Didn't really enjoy the brisket tacos, they tasted a wee bit soapy. Good drinks selection and loads of outdoor seating on a sunny day / Dam atmosphere inside which would be good on a rainy day. Thought the service was good and pretty good value for money - was around £38 for a burger, share of sides / wine and a couple of nice cocktails.

The pub itself is great, staff are fantastic and reasonable prices however the baby changing table was very dirty and people were smoking in the seated undercover outdoor area. A couple of small changes and this place would be 5 star

We had been out for the day in Glasgow for something to eat and a few drinks so I think this was around 8-30pm on Saturday after we had our meal in merchant city we walked in said hello to the girl at the front desk we weren't sure what we wanted to drink so I tried to look at the list of drinks but a member of the bar team was standing in front of the board so I jokingly said was she gets out the way then I will see this obnoxious girl bar member then said I was drunk and I was only getting served water or soft drinks I was far from drunk I'm not saying I did have a couple of drinks with my dinner but anything far from drunk which I could clearly see just with a quick look around the bar that there were a few drunk people in the bar if you're looking for a bar then avoid this place was my first time in there and definitely my last I can spend my money elsewhere plenty of choice but as far as this girl is concerned Amsterdam get your bar staff sorted it was Saturday the 8th of June female member of staff with blonde hair

Avoid. Spend your hard earned money where it’s appreciated. Ignorant rude staff and terrible skanky toilets. When I emailed to complain about the behaviour of their staff I received no reply so obviously they’re happy enough to be rude to customers. Go anywhere else in Merchant City and you’ll have a better time.

I love the atmosphere of this place, I lived in the Netherlands for a year and it reminded me my nightlife over there! I ordered a spicy Bloody Mary and it was amazing! Staff are very friendly and nice, price is reasonable, highly recommended!

We ate nachos with everything inside + house salad with pieces of meat and ranch dressing. We had beers on tap and Apple Cider. The service is fantastic. Relaxed atmosphere with good ambient music. Fair price. Healed portions. If you come to Glascow, don't miss it.

Sitting in a lovely square outdoors and under cover. Really friendly place with a great drinks menu. I ordered a Sauvignon Blanc, french by the glass and really good, well chilled too. I decided to have one more with some sweet potatoes fries. Nicest well seasoned fries I think I’ve ever had!!! When I asked for some mayo the bottle came out and it was lovely and clean. Sometimes it’s the attention to detail that shows and it’s appreciated😊

The grub and the drinks were top quality. I had a few of the mini tacos along with some cocktails. If you are looking for a place to sit inside i would recommend booking in advance but it has a large seating section outside as well with heaters. It is a dog friendly bar as well. I have been twice now but definitely a place i will go back to when im in that area of Glasgow.

Food was brilliant (especially the vegetarian options!), atmosphere in the beer garden very good… do not think there is many places in the city centre with such a diverse, chill atmosphere! Special shout-out to Ewan for the service, very attentive and thoughtful throughout!

Didn’t spot any Dutch beers on tap so settled for a German one instead. Slow service at the bar. Sat outside as all the empty tables inside were reserved. As we braced the cold wind we thought to ourselves “Amsterdammit!”

Nice place for a drink, however without sounding like an old moaner the music could have been turned down a bit for better conversation.

I was there with friends and had a good few drinks, staff were great, customers were friendly with a lively atmosphere.

Went here at the end of a day out, having lived in the Netherlands when I was younger I was feeling a bit nostalgic and thought that a bar called The Amsterdam Cafe might sell some Dutch products, alas apart from a few Amsterdam City flags, a Dutch football top and an Ajax top there wasn't much Dutchness about the place, not even Dutch beer or Dutch bar snacks. In saying all that there was a nice atmosphere and the staff, while very busy were very good.

If going to allow dogs in at least ask me if its ok that the people with the large dog can sit right next to me. You know how close your tables are. What if I was allergic to dogs? I did move because I was going to have food and did not want a big hairy dog next to me when I was eating. Thank goodness I moved because owners allowed dog on the seat. Please think about others when allowing dogs in. Service was poor too. I was sitting with a menu before I moved then after I moved and took member of staff at least 20 mins to ask if I wanted food

Went here for lunch having been recommended by a friend. Absolutely brilliant. Food was excellent, we shared a burger and brisket mac and cheese, with a few wines and beers too. Staff are lovely, and atmosphere was brill. It was also a bargain! Would definitely recommend.

Had to wait quite a while to get our drinks eventually delivered, but lunch came and it was great thoroughly enjoyed it

The atmosphere and ambience in the Absent Ear was good and the service great, but sadly the cocktails were not up to par and overpriced for what they were. Fun for a one off visit.

An afternoon burger and beer with my young son after the veu cinema. Burger was spot on, made fresh and tasted nice and beefy. Was quite as it was mid week lunch time but I will be back with my friends at evening as it looks a nice place to go. Thank you

I'm not the usual type to leave reviews but never before has the bar staff of a bar affected my emotional state in such a way. I do not say this lightly, but EVERY single TIME I wanted a drink, there they were, bam, served. I'm literally shaking, wouldnt improve anything. I mean they serve tenants but nowhere is perfect. Take your gran.
