Voodoo Ray's - Boxpark in Hackney

There’s loads of great options to choose from at Voodoo Ray’s. I went for the full moon slice with bacon, mozzarella, tomato and Japanese mayo. It was delicious and great quality. The decor is bright, service was very good and prices are reasonable. Excellent choice for New York style pizza in the area, you won’t be disappointed.

I often forget that this place exists, thanks to it being tacked onto the end of Shoreditch's Boxpark complex, in a location that's easily missed if you're coming out of Shoreditch High Street station. It's much the same as other Voodoo Ray outlets, this time housed in a couple of old storage containers with a few basic high stool and ledge seating areas and a cramped serving space to the rear. The pizza is good, with a decent selection of toppings always available - I tried their spicy pepperoni on my recent visit, which really hit the mark for me. Drinks include a few craft beers in cans, albeit quite prohibitively priced. The staff are friendly and helpful and I would recommend this as a good spot for a quick, tasty bite on the go.

Went on a Monday afternoon so understandably quiet, served very quick, excellent food and great decor and good music, highly recommended! Can’t wait to come back in the summer for a frozen margarita in the sun

I’d eaten pizza in the US before, namely in New York and Maryland and I had not had any similar pizzagasm since 2012 and trust me, I had eaten quite a lot of pizzas in Europe. Voodoo Ray's, however, brought me a little bit closer to that American pizza vibe after all those years and I have to say that they were really close! The dough was just thick enough to let you taste the sauce and the cheese, the crust was delightful to bite on and if you don’t want the whole pizza, just take one slice or more with different toppings each. If you’re on a lookout for a great slice, then this is the right place to drop by!

We visited for a slice and manager who started very sulky accused my friend of dropping oil nozzle in his pizza and asked us to leave. When we stated that this hadn't happened, she ignored us before saying security would come. It was outrageous. We are very friendly. Sad to say the pizzas were not worthwhile. Cheese slipping off, soft, and not warm enough.

Really great recommendation from a member of staff, went for the vegan jackfruit pizza... could have a bigger seating area! 3 stars because they don’t accept cash card only which I think is absolutely ridiculous!!

Not good, not terrible but when compared to the other pizza places around or to the pizza joints of NYC where you can grab a delicious slice for about $3, the pizza quality here is pretty poor.

Great to be able to order pizza by the slice, then you can try the different toppings. Very good price. Lots of options for drinks. Great refuelling stop.

Ella estaba ocupada con los chefs y coquetea en su teléfono a un cliente aviso ella. Luego, cuando yo había pedido tomó más de 5 minutos de ser molestado para preguntar si quería una copa. Easy place to stop while wandering around Shoreditch. Good spot to grab a slice on the go. Make sure to check which pizza's are ready since they do not always have everything on the 'menu' available at all times, which is a little disappointing.

I get what they are trying to do with the style of this place. I lived in New York for a while. I went to this place before I went to New York and thought it was great. I went to this place after I lived in New York and thought it was terrible. Over priced £4.50 for ONE slice of pizza. White Kitchen in Camden does a whole stone oven baked pizza for 4.50. and they are good! Pizza is very doughy and often doesn't taste fresh. Lacks flavour or seasoning. I've had better. I've had worse. Service is meh.

Staff we're friendly, pizza slices were large but average. My bag was stolen whilst dining in there outside seating area.

Had this twice and both times it has been just ok. I certainly don't think it deserves 4+ on tripadvisor considering the far better options elsewhere in the area (PizzaEast, the one next to tesco in the Block, Pizza Pilgrim and Homeslice for starters). The only benefit of this one is that they do pizza by the slice and the others do not, which is good for a snack.

Voodoo Rays offers good thin crust, New York style pizza on Shoreditch High Street in Boxpark. Box park is a collection of shipping containers placed together to make a mini mall of restaurants and pop up shops that were very interesting. Voodoo Rays consists of a few containers so it has some indoor counter seating. Pizza can be purchased by the slice so you can try a couple of different options. Worth a try if you are in the area.

My family and I arrived from NY for a stay in Shoreditch at about 10:30 p.m. We were very hungry and most restaurants had closed. We stopped at Voodoo Ray's, which was not an original idea as there was quite a crowd. Voodoo Ray's sells pizza by the slice. There are traditional slices as well as many unusual combinations with clever names i.e. "Giorgio Moroder" or "The Meat is On." I had the Buffalo Margherita with buffalo mozzarella, marinated tomatoes and basil. Although one slice was slightly overcooked, it was very similar to the pizza we get at home in New York, which is delicious. Voodoo Ray's is an excellent option for authentic New York pizza.

Voodoo Ray's doesn't aim to sell typical pizza, but to give as many options as possible to try more slices. I can understand the need to experiment but the margherita was just oily and terribly bland. I think it's worth only on Mondays when you get a slice for as little as £2.5 from 5pm, other than that it's a no-no...

Been here a few times before and enjoyed the pizza. Came here for the £6.50 lunch special with almost 2 hours (goes 12-4) left of the special until it ended. Girl working there informed us that they had run out of salad and didn't offer any alternative just advised us to order from the regular menu which is £4 for just a single slice. Pizza wasn't very warm still a bit cold. Probably won't be back for the special again. If they are going to offer a special then they should make enough to cater for the full period.

This place is so convenient to grab a tasty, filling slice of pizza if you're around Shoreditch. I would definitely recommend the one with pepperoni and chilli's, yum. They also specially made my friend a vegan gluten free pizza so they cater for everyone!

I could sit there forever, the pizza slices are creative but not oppressive, the staff - each one of them has just walked out of the Rocky Horror Picture Show - The Movie, but still they are so cool and relaxed and kind and unpretentious. And the customers - when the Shoreditch zoo lets all its nocturnal creatures out, click record on your phone camera and just let it sit there, bound to be worth endless replays. I love coming back to this place...

Love the pizza here - cheap and tasty, good choices and orders are ready really quickly. Only small downside is staff staring at you or saying "what do you want" while you are trying to read the menu. Other than that it's a great pizza joint

I love the pizza from Voodoo rays. Really great quality pizza dough, and a perfect blend of Italian style pizza, with American inspired toppings and sizes. You can buy by the slice and they heat it up for you. You can also order a huge pizza to go, or order a bunch for an event you're having. Sometimes I order a bunch of slices, and reheat them when I get home. Really great quality pizza. Would definitely recommend to everyone.

The pizza is crispy, delicious and generous portions. You can only have one slice if you want. There is lots of variety of pizzas to choose from. The house frozen Margarita is so good I had to have two. Staff are really nice and friendly! This place is great highly recommend!

Stopped off for a quick bite to eat en-route to Brick Lane. My girlfriend and I just wanted something quick and simple and saw Voodoo Rays in passing. Pizza by the slice we saw and it was really busy so thought let's give it a shot and we were half we did!! The pizza was amazing, such a simple thing pizza but they really do make the perfect pie!! A couple of slices each did just the job and it tasted amazing!! Would highly recommend and I now know why it was so busy!! Quick, simple but tasty food!!

What struck me most about my first trip to Voodoo Ray's (I'll definitely be back for a second!) was the passion of the staff. I wandered in from the cold outside, slightly bewildered by the range of options available, and the server overseeing the counter area was immediately approachable, friendly and very happy to educate me on the ranges available. What this man didn't know about pizza clearly isn't worth knowing!After he had walked me through the options, recommending the odd item here and there, I settled on a slice of the Rubenesque to take away: salt beef, sauerkraut, cheese and parsley. It was a great recommendation; unique and very tasty! To top that off, it was a huge slice and definitely worth the £4 I paid!

Usually get the Rueben but fancied a change and went for the green and white. I found it a little bland but that's because I like hot and spicy. Been a few times over the years and whatever I've had has always been hot and tasty, give it a go.

Had a piece of the green velvet with pesto artichokes and green olives! Very tasty bar and good quality ingredients. Made for a very enjoyable slice! Will definitely come back and next I would want to try their green and white.

Part of BOXPARK in Shoreditch, it's good value for a slice, but the pizza isn't as good as places like Franco Manca. I'd happily go for a slice at lunch but that's all really. £3.50-4 a slice.

This place is within the Boxpark mall which only serves pizza and salad. Go for the lunch deal available for £6.50 and you get pizza slice, salad and soft drink for £6.50 currently. The food is served quickly and you eat at benches. Back to the food. It's New York style thin crust pizza with a variety of toppings. The choice caters for meat lovers, vegetarians and vegans a like. There's a hearty pimped up potato salad as well. Don't go without feeling very hungry as it's filling.

The pizza was good but service horrible. Ordered two pepperoni slices, that somehow disappeared and they then forgot about my order. When they then prepared a new pizza, the people with me had already gotten and finished their food. The girl with grey hair dressed in her pyjamas at work seemed completely clueless.

i visited voodoo ray's boxpark recently and it was the best thing after spending a sunday on brick lane shopping and sightseeing. i had the hot mix 5 with a frozen margarita and couldn't recommend it more. great, tasty pizza and great customer service. a must-see for anyone who goes to london!

The slices are a good size but you can get the same thing In New York for 2 dollars. At £4 a slice it's pretty steep. Pizza union is a much cheaper and better option, £5 for a whole pizza! The slices are reheated in the microwave, and I imagine if you go at peak time it's probably good, but I went when it was quiet and the slice was served Lukewarm, and looked like it had been sat for a long time. The toppings are generous and the flavors are ok, nothing special. After reading other reviews I expected a 5* pizza slice, this isn't it.

In a city dominated by knife and fork pizza restaurants, it's a rare treat to get a New York sized slice of pizza in London. Nice choice of 5-6 different topping combos, with at least 3 vegetarian choices and a vegan option. The pizza is very good by London standards. Almost unique in that there are so few decent pizza by the slice joints in the Big Smoke. The crust isn't New York style, but perhaps, it's not looking to be. Having an alcohol licence is the cherry on the cake. Decent selection of beers and other boozy delights.

I'd just finished on a work night out, when I visited Voodoo Ray's, so these descriptions might be exaggerated a little.Have to say this place was the best pizza I've ever had. I've been to quite a few pizzerias but this one is an experience. The slices are massive, seriously bigger than your face (I tried, 1 slice is like 6 Pizza Hut slices) and they're not stingy on the toppings. They also sell cans of beer which is good if you need something to wash it down with.If you're in Shoreditch it's a must visit. As a reference it's not expensive and won't bankrupt you eating there

A friend took me there on my recent trip to London. I was promised great pizza and great pizza is what i got. There were so many different to choose from (and veggie only options!). Great atmosphere and friendly staff and even customers!

Voodoo Rays is without a doubt my absolute favourite pizza place. With a dazzling array of interesting pizza with vegan options, you'll be spoiled for choice. The slices are sure to fill you up and if not they offer a couple of great sides too all at a really nice price for a great middle ground between a formal restaurant visit and faster more convenient food with no drop in quality.The staff are friendly, the place itself is colourful and you'll easily spend half an hour listening to the great music if not more! So grab drink and a slice and sit down for a while.

I've been to Voodoo Rays on a fair few occasions and have always enjoyed the pizza there.I was here last Friday night with a friend around 9.30pm. There was a queue of about 10 people in front of us and by the time we got to the counter, there were only 2 options available and both were veggie, which was fine with me but my friend wanted meat and was told it would take at least 10-15 minutes minutes.I ordered mine and shared some with my friend as it came about within a few minutes and his came along after 12 minutes.We were happy with the food and wait but just thought the staff could have envisaged a bit of a rush and had more options to hand.I will definitely be going back but hope lessons have been learned

I had been to the Voodoo Ray's in Dalston before and I LOVED IT!So the fact there was a more convenient 1 in Box Park, I HAD to go!It was very small in there and the seats were like bar stools along a few falls so no facing each other. This didn't bother me as me and my twin were just there to eat anywayThey didn't have every tim on the menu but what they did, WOW!Each slice was amazing with a firm base so the toppings didn't fall off. And it is a slice from a 22" pizza and there are 8 slices to a pizza. So they are big (I ha 5 as I am greedy)There is a toilet outside which I expected to be shabby but was a bunch of cubicles and actually really niceI 100% recommend to go here!

Soak up the studied and deliberate style of the decor designed to copy a modest New York pizza slice shop which may fool some judgemental types about the super quality of the pizza and lusciously fresh and perfectly chosen topping combinations... So good I went back for another slice!

I've been to Voodoo Ray's a few times now and their vegan pizza is some of the best I've ever had, nice thin crispy bases and loads of lovely vegan goodness on top... supply of Beavertown's Gamma Ray is always stocked up if you feel the need to wash your pie down with a cold one... would go out of my to visit Voodoo's again!

Voodoo Rays is an excellent place for pizza, its a lovely place to go for lunch and dinner, its quite small so its not really a family restaurant, its more for a casual get together with a few friends or maybe by yourself. Its probrably the best pizza i've ever tasted in my life, the pizzas are really filling so you only really need one slice. personaly i'd recommend 'THE MEAT IS ON' if your quite a meaty person, i'de highly recommend it. excellent place!

I'd heard about the place from friends and so I was looking forward to it and I wasn't disappointed (Except that I'd wanted the meaty one and they'd run out). They have some pretty interesting flavours and some great beers to go with them. I went for one with sauerkraut on and was a bit dubious at first. It was great though and reasonably priced as for three people it came just just over a tenner.

I went to the restaurant that was close to London Liverpool Street. The staff was very polite and friendly. The food was great.

I was initially drawn in by the artwork on the walls. I mean, come on!! It's raining pizza! Such a great play on words!! Since visiting I've really not stopped telling my friends about the pizza slices painted on the wall! So great for Instagram too! I took so many pictures for all of my social media profiles! Of course, the likes have come flooding in! I'd seriously recommend checking out the artwork on the walls of this place to anyone that likes art or fine art or even pizza. The artist that did the painting is sooooo hard to find anywhere else! Who is this Mister Potter the Child Wizard?
