Vivre in Hillingdon

Food was excellent for an airport hotel. I had lamb chops cooked perfectly and my wife had wonderful fish and chips with excellent minted mushy peas. Breakfast was also superb with great cooked-to-order omelettes, bacon, potatoes etc and delicious pastries and croissants.

This is my last day at the Sofitel. We came back after touring Europe for 3 weeks. Last night was dinner. It was a so-so. This morning 8.10.24 - there is not enough server in the dining room. Our server didn’t even approach us. I asked for coffee and cream. She brought me coffee. I asked another female server to kindly bring me the cream. She took the cream from another table and gave it to us. I gave this hotel (Sofitel) a 5-star last time. Today, I am taking that back. I will not book myself in this hotel again. Ever!

Came for food this evening being gluten free not usually used to having such a choice me and my husband both had 3 courses and could not fault the food or staff going to bed full and happy ready for our holiday tomorrow but yjus us were our holiday started Thank you excellent

Met here as friends passing through Heathrow from Scotland. Seated quickly by 'meeter greeter' with menus having brought our drinks from the bar. Order taken and then a wait for the food, which when it came looked appetising and was hot - 2 fishcakes and 2 fish and chips. Once finished interminable wait till plates were cleared then I thought they had forgotten us, but attracted someones attention for coffees as we had gone off the idea of sweets. Asked for the bill at the time of ordering coffee, but again had to remind member of staff I was waiting for the bill Expensive £202.00 for 4 drinks in the bar, 4 main courses and 2 glasses of wine.

This restaurant is an absolute disgrace and shouldn’t be placed in a 5 star hotel. The service is so poor. The food is less than the equivalent of aeroplane food. The chicken curry was served with strawberry breakfast yogurt and no salad. A total rip off and the manager dismissive and untrained staff. Please avoid at all cost.

Service is excellent. Good variety in menu, location ideal for staying at the Sofitel.

Food was decent, service was awful. Wait staff at 1000 was setting for lunch service which began at 1100 and ignored our table. Obtained our own flatware, after requested- twice. Obtained our own coffee for the entire meal. Waitstaff, was, “flat” and un-welcoming.

The food isn't good, and it's expensive. I had higher expectations since this restaurant is in a high-end hotel (even as an airport hotel), but everything we ordered was well below average.

It was easy to book for a party of eight. We were shown quickly to our table and the service was amazing. The food was wonderful, my steak was perfectly cooked. I had king prawns on a skewer with a dip which was great. I finished with cheesecake. I had a tasty cider. The rest had some wonderful wine. We weren’t hurried at all and had a wonderful family occasion.

We'd booked a overnight stay at the Sofitel Hotel before travelling the next day and decided to eat here. Service was brilliant food was good and the it wasn't overly pricey considering how close to Heathrow we were. I'd recommend it for sure =

Due to a flight cancellation we found ourselves in the Sofitel overnight. The breakfast offering in extensive and the produce is of very good quality. The freshly cooked omelette by the most happy chef I’ve ever met was the best I’ve ever had! Harpreet made sure our table was regularly cleaned and that we had tea and coffee as needed - very personable young lady and service with a smile. Although on the face of it it looks expensive it is value for money.

I was staying at the Sofitel overnight for a trip to the USA as I always do. Ordered the Butter Curry which was delicious and he service was prompt and efficient. I always enjoy my stay at Sofitel and am never disappointed with my meal at La Vivre..

If you want 2.5hrs for a meal then it’s great but I’m sure the French restaurant has better food. For a hotel that was perfect from the moment I step in - this restaurant was beyond disappointing. Sat here and listened to people complain about how bad the service was too. Had other people walk out cause they couldn’t be bothered to wait for their meal anymore. The staff clearly hate their job here too and there’s no managers on site. What a let down!

The Vivre We arrived in the UK from the US late in the afternoon and spent a night at the Sofitel hotel before our onward journey. We had the pleasure of having dinner (and breakfast) at the Vivre Le Experience des Saveurs. The Vivre is the hotel’s casual restaurant. Our evening dinner service was very good. We split salads and then we both enjoyed Italian dishes. Overall quite a good meal for an airport hotel restaurant. The breakfast buffet is very good.

Pleasant restaurant in Sofitel London that has plenty of options.

Good place to eat, but service varies from adequate to quite unfriendly. We ordered the pasta, and though I appreciate that they make this from scratch, I only found this out after waiting 40 minutes and asking why there was a delay. It would be good to let people know. The food quality was decent and bread rolls lovely.

We the hotel is ok a bit worn but ok. However, service at the Vivre restaurant is very poor. If you have the option to eat outside the hotel it is probably best to do so.

A holiday should start with a great hotel and relaxing dining experience. The Vivre within Sofitel Heathrow provided just that. Excellent service from Alina front of house and the waiter who engaged wonderfully with us. The food was fabulous starting with a selection fresh warm bread rolls, starters enjoyed prawn skewers and baked goats cheese. I had the pork with mustard mash my friends enjoyed chicken caeser salad and burgers. It was cool seeing all the chefs doing what they do best. Even more so being able to walk past them and give our appreciation for their efforts. Highly recommend.

Lovely beef burger with chips and pineapple drink. Really friendly staff. Enjoyed the food a lot. Our flight was cancelled to Austin Texas, but one of the airport staff sorted the hotel for us.

This was just down right disgusting! We ordered fish and chips and we were staying overnight for a flight the next day Batter was similar to plaster going off and the ends of the fish had to be broken off. Once inside the 'armour' the batter was stodgy! The fish was grey and not a lot! The chips were stale and I believe 'warm ups from an earlier occasion and the crushed peas we won't even address them GBP21.50 each we paid and even though we didn't eat very much we left a tip, I know I need my head read! However when I saw the bill the next morning I was disgusted that a 'Service Charge' of 8.10 had been added Shame M & S in T5 was closed for renovations We were so looking forward to a nice meal at the end of a lovely holiday to the UK and New York

Parfait, tout était excellent même les mignardises le personnel aux petits soins et très compétents. Nous reviendrons avec grand plaisir et communiquerons l'adresse à nos amis.

Very welcoming staff, excellent service, lots of choice for breakfast, pleasant experience. Great beginning of the day after a restful night in the hotel.

Service was good, warm greeting on arrival and friendly waiter but the food was ok at best. My rib of beef was little more than a slab of gelatinous fat with the occasional ribbon of meat. The veg was a little undercooked but tasted fresh, the dark jus was delicious. I complained about the beef, the unsympathetic waiter explained that rib of beef can be fatty but didn’t confirm that a ratio of 80% fat to 20% beef was an average expectation for this cut of meat. I had the answer but he wasn’t interested. To be fair my wife’s meal was excellent, succulent pork belly (virtually no waste), super veg and tasty jus. It would have been good if the waiter had referred my complaint to the kitchen rather than making a lame excuse and backing away from the table awkwardly.

Oh dear - it’s like a Ramsay kitchen nightmare. My condolences if you have no other choice but to eat here like us. Unfortunately the other Belle restaurant was closed - it is much higher rated. On arrival, the front desk warned us the wait would be a while and suggested we eat at the bar instead which didn’t fill us with huge confidence. Water didn’t arrive for almost 20mins so we had to get a bottle ourselves. Drinks came at the end of the meal - one was out of stock and the other was the wrong size. Curry tasted like a microwave meal served alongside long dated packet naan bread. The fish and chips looked anaemic. Kids pizza was a thick naan bread with some cheese and sauce in middle. Of course they got the bill wrong - charging us for the missing drink and for a larger glass of wine when they only gave a small. I felt so ill I was sick when I got back to the hotel room. Sofitel Mgmt - this group are not fit to run a restaurant. The whole service, staff and menu need a total overhaul. What a shame since the hotel itself is nice. I skipped snacks and breakfast at the Club too.

We enjoyed our food so much.. lovely atmosphere. Our waiter, Delwar, was very warm, welcoming, engaging and professional. Thank you for the experience 😊

The experience was made so good by Bogdan. He was genuinely one of the best waiters we’ve ever met - so friendly and chatty, and extremely professional. The food was good and came quickly. Hope Bogdan is rewarded for doing such a great job!

We have dined here before and it has been ok. This occasion was spoiled by poor service and pretty bad management. Long waits to order and to pay. Food was passable. Pricing is ok. Choice of food is good. I hope it is back to better next time.

Having stayed at many of the worlds Sofitel and dining in afew of their restaurants, this place ranks below average. It might have been the only one open tonight (Tuesday), but that’s no excuse to offer sub standard food at high end prices. We had the minestrone soup and was not serviced with any bread. When I asked, they said “we used to” but now it’s extra. We have never been anywhere that doesn’t offer bread with a soup dish. For mains, we opted for fish and chip + Caesar salad with chicken. I can’t believe they are serving food cooked from frozen. This is completely unacceptable. They clearly ride on the fact, they are the only option for hotel guest. Sofitel raise your game or lose your status as a 5* brand. This is the second visit to your hotels in 4 months and I am wondering if I will maintain my loyalty status.

Was here 2 1/2 years ago and the food was ok but the service was horrible. Recently decided to give them another shot. Service still the worst, food was again nothing special and 3 of the 4 of us felt horrible a few hours after eating. Both times here I have waited over 30 minutes after being seated and finally went and asked it we could at least get some water. Would not recommend. They obviously have not made any improvements.

The best fish 'n chips on our whole six-week trip to England! Delicious butter chicken curry, also. But the service was slow. We sat around waiting quite awhile for menus, then waited for dessert, and then waited for the check.

Cristo, our waiter, made this meal excellent. I am gluten free - and this is a heavily gluten menu. But we found a salad and salmon combo that worked for me and was quite good. My husband had the fish and chips. He said the fish was okay, but the chips were excellent. He was craving a sticky toffee pudding - and the waiter said he could get it for him from the "other kitchen". It was among the best he's ever had. And Cristo identified a gluten free and dairy free dessert for me...a vegan pavlova which was so delicious. It made for a surprisingly nice meal experience. It's fun to watch the kitchen in action too. Go early for dinner (they opened at 5:30 PM) as it got very busy by 6 PM.

We had booked a table for 7.30 pm dinner and after waiting in line we’re shown to a table. The table next to us was very very loud and discussing business on a Saturday night. We could not hear each other above their din. After 30 minutes a waiter came to take our order and we asked for a quieter table. We were told to walk outside to the terrace. Essentially this is an area in the thoroughfare of the hotel (inside) behind a wooden low fence. After another 20 minutes I went to find a waiter who said he would come out to take our order. After another 10 minutes I went and found another server. The waiter I had seen before recognised me and hit his hand on his head and came out to us. The starter was delicious but we had to chase up the bottle of wine and never got our glasses of water. When the main course was delivered by a lady she said “Bon appetit” but we said we couldn’t eat without cutlery. She promised us some but we never saw her again. After 5 minutes my husband went and found cutlery because his fish and chips were getting cold. My shepherds pie was tasteless, lots of potato and a thin layer of lamb in a watery tasteless gravy. Nobody ever came back to check on us. They add a discretionary 12.5% tip for a service charge which I didn’t think they deserved so we took the bill to the desk and told the manager of our experience. He blames the management for trying to reduce staff and told us it was our own fault because we voted for Brexit. I pointed out to him I didn’t. He said it is like that every night. He removed the service charge and 20% off the food which was fair but next time I stay at the Sofitel I will bring a picnic and save a pot of money and disappointment.

Surprisingly lovely meal at Vivre. I say surprising because it’s nearly airside , there is a more expensive option within the Sofitel and frankly it could well not have been. Lovely freshly cooked fish and chips and delicious cold wine: actually properly cold, all served by the wonderful Peter who along with his colleagues was working his socks off to make the many and varied demands of other clients. He never dropped his smile or missed a beat. Well done.

Tough Chicken Milanese virtually inedible Sent Tagliatelle Carbonna back as cold and rubbery Waited ages for coffee which came half a cup and hot milk in a teapot!

This restaurant is located within the Sofitel Heathrow Hotel. The food was very good and reasonably priced. As a vegetarian, I was pleased with the veggie curry dish that I ordered.

Absolutely fantastic food. The best chicken dish I have eaten for a long time. The butter chicken had a lovely background heat. We had to wait for a while to get a table but it was really busy and they were turning tables quickly. It was worth the wait. Great service. We will definitely be back soon.

Heerlijk gegeten bij het restaurant van Sofitel. Vriendelijke gastheer zorgen goed voor uw klanten en de sfeer is zeer goed met open keuken. Menukaart heeft volop keuzes. Mijn hoofdgerecht Shepard's pie is heerlijk. Het voorgerecht minestrone soep is iets te waterig (je proeft helaas niet veel meer van soep). Kom zeker terug voor hun andere specialiteiten.

Very spacious and comfortable exellent choice food and very friendly staff and services. Peter was our waiter and was very knowledgeable about allergy details and made us feel very welcomed. A good children's menu and reasonable prices

We waited over an hour for our main courses but both were watery - butter chicken and Thai vegan curry. Both could have been so much better! Our waiter avoided our eye after we asked where our meals were. Not a pleasant experience and not...

Below average. Like not even mediocre. Below average. Pizza crust is premade, not baked in their oven. Pizza sauce is just tomato sauce. Absolutely no flavor. Green Thai dish with prawns had maybe 4 prawns. Very distasteful. No flavor. Lots of peppers and onions. Green Curry looked more like green poo sauce. Again no flavors. Curry Chicken was average. Arrabiatta with prawns.. my 8 year old can make it better. No flavor, or taste. Sauce was straight up tomato paste. Shrimp is chewy. He wouldn’t eat it! Service was ok. So disappointed! Nice going for being our last British meal before heading home. If you’re not in a time crunch, go elsewhere.

Terrible service. We were told we needed to wait 30 minutes for a table when the resteraunt was empty. Ordered a starter and waited 30 minutes for the appetizer. Then waited an additional 45 minutes for mediocre food. The largest problem with the service was the way they treated my wife. Clearly, they did not want to listen or deal with her directly. It was not until I asked for the check after she had asked three times that they finally brought it. Stick to room service or the bar Cafe across the way.

What an amazing restaurant! Our flights were canceled and we had a stressful day but the Maitre’D was amazingly attentive- we had Lamb bhuna, Shepherd’s pie, burgers and pizza….each dish was lovely! Compliments to chef on some delicious Lamb Bhuna.

Nice Brasserie style, busy which is a great distraction from the anonymous airport surroundings. French and international menu, cozy well made dishes. Service is very good level, as in the better Parisian brasseries. A pleasant break, only a bit expensive.

Dined here early evening in July 2023. Food so bad it was almost funny e.g. "Arrabbiata" with optional chicken costs more than £20 but was packet pasta with a thin, watery sauce and a chicken portion so small a microscope was needed to detect it in the dish. The small positives: the waiting staff were attentive and atmosphere was decent - but these facts do not overcome how poor the value for money was in terms of what the kitchen produced. At these prices, the food has to be better. Won't be dining here again.

We were staying at the Sofitel at Terminal 5 the night before our flight, so really this was the start of our holiday (the Sofitel btw is excellent). We were ”greeted" by a surly member of staff who barely looked up to acknowledge us. He almost begrudgingly took us to a table where we sat for some time, waiting for service. The food itself was fine, though clearly not cooked with love and the service was lacking, though not due to the fault of the waiter who clearly had far too many tables to cover. Though strangely other members of staff seemed to be wandering around with not much to do. It's expensive for what it is, which would be fine if the service came with a smile. At the end of the day, you're paying for the convenience of eating under the hotel. This is something most people expect, but they don't expect to be treated as an inconvenience.

The staff was an absolute delight. Aga, Elisioes, Emilia (it was her birthday!), Leopold, Andrea, Morrlae (forgive my spelling)….what a team! They were thoughtful, kind, fun, professional, and cheerful. The breakfast was fantastic, set me up for a long day of travel. Thank you!

I have had mostly positive experiences and this restaurant, especially in terms of service. Staff always friendly, helpful, obliging. However, this time I have to say, the service was uncharacteristically poor - it was busy, and whether it was one of the regular wait staff...

I ordered bacon and cheese burger. The burger they brought me didn’t have the bacon. Told our waiter and he brought a plate of bacon so I can make my bacon and cheese burger!!!

Had a lovely family meal in the Vivre Restaurant at the Heathrow Sofitel excellent food at a reasonable price with good service would definitely recommend, we sat in the Terrace area which was much more intimate and away from the noise of the main restaurant

I try to be fair with reviews but this place offers mediocre quality, small portions costing about twice their actual worth. I understand hotel restaurants at airports are never cheap, but this place is a bonefide rip off. One person in our party ordered a main pasta for £20 that was very small and had to order something else as they were still hungry. I spent £38 for two drinks and a dull chickpea curry. A half-interested service from the waiting staff did not make up for the food situation. Safe to say unlikely to use again.

The food was very average. Slow service. I had to ask a few times for water/cutlery to be brought to the table. I waited about 15 minutes for the bill, good thing I wasn’t in a rush. Definitely expensive but that’s just standard for Airport prices. A 175ml glass of wine and dinner for one costed me around £50, but there was no where else to eat for the time I arrived at my hotel - so for convenience food it was quite expensive.

Although the kitchen staff were visible in the kitchens, with no physical separation, the restaurant was surprisingly and pleasantly quiet. Plenty of dishes to choose from and a good wine list. Breakfast equally good.

I have been coming to the breakfast buffet at the Vivre and I have never been disappointed. Eddie, the breakfast chef who is very entertaining as well as Fabrizio the manager and Marilou + Eliusus, they really work hard to keep the guests happy. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!!!

My visit to Vivre was good. Nice vibe, nice spacing of restaurant goers, my food order was taken quickly by Christo and the food came in quite a timely manner. They did forget my sweet potato fries, however they came out piping hot and really quick so it didn't bother me. Burger was just nice overall. Not the best burger I've had and thick cut red onion kind of overpowered the rest however the bacon was tasty and crispy just as I like it. Overall I'd say 4/5 and it was £27 for beef burger with fries and a coke.

I had a pizza that didn't measure up to Pizza Express, let alone Naples, and our local pub does a better fish and chips. Tables are out of Kentucky Fried Chicken and the atmosphere is nil. And it cost a bomb.

Decent food and slow service. I was comped by airline for missing my flight and they give you a dinner voucher at this restaurant. First you cannot just get a table you need to reserve the table in person then go there again to line up to be seated. I had two courses meal and nearly took two hours from start to finish (not by choice due to sloooow service). The staff are nice and courteous.
