It was a very busy day. Food was lluke warm and others dishes had half cooked meat. This was acknowledged and we were not charged for lunch. Thank you!

Great place to hangout after work.

Steak and ale pie was exceptional and service was excellent.

Food was poor, mixed grill steak ordered rare arrived medium to well plus steak knife struggled to cut it. The Gammon was white and tough. Chicken well think is was chicken. Steak and ale pie was awful, rock hard pastry, dry and over cooked inside. Could continue but there where 9 of us so just reviewing 2 meals.

Impromptu stop here to charge my electric vehicle. Had the lunch menu and some drinks. Kids chicken strips portions were a great size and so was the chocolate brownie. The burger was gourmet and steak on sandwich cooked as ordered. Many thanks.

Update 10/03/2024 We visited yesterday for Mother’s Day. We arrived on time for our booking but our table wasn’t ready - this was clear from one of the waiting staff telling another young woman (the one with tattoos all over both forearms) that the table should have been ready for guests when they arrive. The lady apologised to us for this happening so we had to wait with a pram and two young children whilst the table was set. The lady with the tattoos cleaned and set up the table whilst we were waiting but she seemed to lack basic customer service or professionalism. Whilst putting the napkins out she literally threw one of them in my mums direction because she couldn’t reach - it would have been better to simply hand it to me instead of fling it in my mum’s direction. Food was delicious and although it was very busy I would say they coped well with timings. All other members of staff were so friendly and helpful except for this young lady with the tattoos on her arms (I wish I got her name but I didn’t). This young lady also processed payment and even though my husband said thank you she simply walked off without saying anything. This member of staff brought down the level of service whilst the others were great and working so hard to keep up with how busy it was. It is unfortunate that one person can create a bad impression when the others were lovely and food was great. Nevertheless, we enjoyed the food and the service of other members of staff but I wanted to mention the lack of professionalism and service from this one member of staff as I would think this isn’t the standard Swan and Bottle normally provides - which can be seen through all other members of staff and the service they provide. 24/12/2023 We went for a Christmas Eve lunch here and the food was very tasty. The only thing I would say made me give one less star on the service is that we pre-ordered and selected the option for a child’s Christmas meal - when we got to receiving the food, we were told their systems weren’t working and the pre-orders were messed up. This meant that they didn’t even have a meal ready for our daughter (almost 2 years old) so we had to order something off their regular menu and pay extra for this. Also, when we were ordering drinks from their festive menu - the waitress told us that most of the syrups weren’t available so we had to order something different. Apart from these points, everything else was lovely. Food, service from staff and the atmosphere was great. Would definitely visit again.

My husband organised a lunch for Mothers day. We had 4 children with us.. to say the service was exceptional is an understatement. My daughter gets really HANGRY.. to the point where she was having a full on melt down.. she's 6.. all the waitresses could see the sheer pain in my eyes and were trying really hard to get the food out. They were apologetic but I was mortified as we must of disturbed other patrols but they were so kind and supportive and that's what a mum needs. Food was awesome and overall minus the meltdown it was brilliant. Really can't fault. Thank you so much for a lovely mother's day

I’m sitting here amazed that an americano coffee and the tiniest dessert I have ever seen in my life came to £7! Beware the mini pud and hot drink deal!!! (It ain’t no deal). Staff lovely.

The Sunday roast was 'canteen standard' and served a bit cold.

My wife and I were looked after by Tom during our lunch. He was attentive at all times and professional with an eye for detail. When we asked for ice he confirmed the number of cubes we preferred in our glass. Well mannered and a gentleman who knows the true meaning of hospitality.

Went here for a family meal and I have to say the food was absolutely terrible. We ordered our 3 year old a pizza and when it arrived it was clearly a Chicago town pizza that has been cooked in the microwave. It was inedible. The chips had looked like they had been sat out all day and thrown back into the fryer to heat them up. Our other son had a burger, which was just as awful. The picture attached is how the burger came out before our son started eating it. The roasts we ordered we terrible. Cold, dry and the roast potatoes were rock hard. Won’t be returning here any time soon.

Came here for a Sunday roast and the waitress we had was really lovely and interacted well with our 2 year old. We ordered the kids pizza and chips but it was served in a pastry case not on pizza dough. Our little one didn’t eat it so this let down our experience a little. The roast was nice but was a little cold. Great service though ☺️

Not a bad looking pub inside on the Grand Union Canal. Good for a stopover on a walk along the canal. Dog friendly.

The outside has a old pub feel and the inside is updated and quite nice. Enjoyed our Sunday roast except I never think I get enough potatoes and I get too many peas and carrots but that's mostly just personal preference.

I have been visiting this pub since 79, its changed a bit, with the times, but a favourite canal side spot.. The Swan and Bottle has been a popular Uxbridge pub for many years and remains so, it has a rich history, dating from the 17th century when it used to be two pubs, the Olde Swan and the Leather Bottle, its a large pub with low ceilings, open beams and plenty of wood panelling. It can be found on the Oxford road, between the Grand Union Canal and the River Colne near the historic Grade II listed Uxbridge Lock, and is a super nice spot in summer for snacks and food, as well as for evening meals anytime, and roast dinners at the weekend, when in winter the dining room is heated by a real log fire! - There is parking, which can fill up on a busy day! The public has several sections but only one bar, and these days it's part of the Chef and Brewer chain (menu and beer-wise). It seems to be less crowded now, with Xerox no longer being across the road, however, what was the Xerox building has now become modern flats and so this could change! The food was good when we visited, but alas my guest reported the ladies were an area that could be improved in terms of cleanliness. Nice, good service this evening... And again today, late Nov 2023

Lovely quiet rainy Friday lunchtime. Walked in with four very wet dogs and couldn't have been made more welcome. Had a light , very tasty lunch, which was very affordable. Dogs had treat biscuits and water at the 'dog bar . What more could all six of us want ? Def going back on our canal walks. Highly recommend 👌

We dropped in today to use the car charger, then decided to stay for a meal. The staff were very friendly and accommodating, and got us seated straight away. The food arrived quickly and was excellent (Sunday lunch - busy but efficient!). It really made a long day of travelling much easier to bear. Many thanks to the staff for a lovely experience.

Just wanted to share a wonderful experience we had at the swan and bottle in Uxbridge, we had the privilege of being looked after by a wonderful lady called Jo, her attention to detail was second to none, she is a credit the there team 😉

A nostalgic return to a place I first visited 40 years ago ! Good service, ŵelcome and menu. No schooners of sherry as in the past but a pleasant repast none the less.

I have been eating out at this pub for the past 30 years and apart from it going down a few years ago Ive always had a good experience .& now it’s back to its best .. BUT two weeks ago I arrange to meet a friend for lunch on a sat .. I pulled into car park fully intending to log in with car reg inside when my friend arrived .,unfortunately when they did arrive it was tell me they had a call that their father was unwell and had to cancel our lunch .. so I left only being there 15mins .. I now have a parking fine for £100 £60 if paid early !!!!’ I don’t think I will be booking here again if 15mins in car park gets me a fine .. I now live in Banbury and had driven up for lunch & often use swan & bottle for lunch with friends who still live in the area !!!! I think I will choose elsewhere nxt time .. sue

We had a lovely meal with friends which was so lovely as we have not be able to see each other for so long. The staff made us very welcome and were very helpful as some of the party had food allergies. They went out of their way to make our evening a pleasurable experience. After a warm welcome I had a Trio Sunday Roast, and it was tasty as hell, very good quality and quantity for the price. “Izzy” (Isobel) was a very pleasant and attentive waitress and made sure were were having a good time! Definitely gets my vote!

Lovely evening with my family, food was great and staff were amazing, it was such a shame that there was some rude guests sitting nearby. They were not following the COVID regulations and were rude to staff members who were just doing their job, dealing with them in the most professional way possible. We will definitely be back. Thank you for a lovely evening and the lovely waitress who looked after us so well, was Siobhan.

Well, the evening certainly was something else. Whilst our group had a wonderful time (shoutout to Matt, Tarya and Siobhan, total legends!), I must say I didn’t expect a group of NHS staff to refuse to wear masks inside simply because “they’re full vaccinated” and that suddenly gave them the right to stand literally next to us laughing and speaking on top of us. Not to mention how unbelievably rude they were to the staff above mentioned (which is exactly why I’m writing this, they mentioned they would write complaints online and I just couldn’t believe it). All in all, eventful night that thankfully wasn’t spoiled because of these pricks.

Had a wonderful evening out on 04/06. The staff were fabulous, they were having to deal with a very loud abs rowdy couple of tables that were not adhering to social distancing and ignoring the staff when asked to follow the guidelines. The way Matthew, Siobhan and Tarya handled them was amazing. I have never seen such horrendous behaviour from customers before and these three remained professional and did their best to calm and help the obnoxious group on the tables next to us. They were absolutely brilliant!

I visited on the 4th June in the evening. We were seated promptly! Drink orders taken very soon after. Whilst enjoying our drinks we hear what I can only describe as a very aggressive customer telling the waiters/ waitresses that as they are NHS staff they do not need to Abide by COVID guidelines!! They had 2 tables at the back on the restaurant by the disable toilets. They all kept getting up and switching tables or having over 6 people sat at the same table. They were asked multiple time by the very patient waiters/ waitresses called Matt, Tarya and Siobhan to stay at their tables and that when moving around they needed to wear a face covering but the NHS staff clearly didn’t think the rules applied to them!! Rude and horrid customer and I praise the 3 member of staff mentioned above for there patient and persistent is trying to keep the restaurant safe for everyone. Unfortunately some people have to go and ruin it for everyone else. Snapping their fingers telling the staff to hurry up so they can pay and the Ubers are waiting only to then stay for an additional 10 mins talking over tables maskless! The staff here are a real asset and handled the situation as best as they could!

Pleasant and enjoyable day today made better by our visit to the Swan and Bottle. Decent weather, a little chill in the air but the experience of a few beers, few glasses of bubbly and some nice food made it scarcely noticeable. The girls were whizzing around and were very busy. Thank you, we hope to visit again soon.

Fantastic place to chill out and have lunch after a long walk along the canal. Good choice of food and drinks. Easy ordering system, but if you are lost, a young chap named Charlie will help you with anything. Fantastic service!! Made our Sunday afternoon what it should be.

We had a booking for myself and family Matthew who was the host seated us in a lovely window seat very friendly recommended the chicken tikka, was really nice. Although we came within half hour of kitchen close food tasted fresh and he was incredibly helpful with our needs Good work Matthew we shall be back again!

We poped up during our walk and had really nice lunch (will be back for another beetroot burger). Charlie, our hosted seated us in a table with stunning river view. He was looking after us very well. Highly recommended place.

Quick to be seated. Friendly staff. Great to have this place back open again. All safety covid safety measures in place. Ordered the gourmet stake sandwich two drinks and two puddings. Food was hot. Stake was cooked to my liking. Puddings topped it off washed down with a cup of tea. One of the top places to visit for lunch or dinner. Lovely outside seating with view of the river and canal. Prices are reasonable. Our server was Charlie. Though we couldn’t see him smiling I’m pretty sure he was smiling from the inside. Polite and kind. . Keep up the good work Swan and Bottle. My friends and I made a very last minute booking at the swan and bottle on Friday, and had a really lovely time. The place is pleasant and situated beside a lovely canal. Food and drink were also pretty good, although, the two pints of Pale ale I had could have been better poured - they came out a little flat but but tasted good. Having said that, our waiter Charlie was lovely and checked on us frequently! He was very polite, attentive and patient with us as my friends took FOREVER to decide what they were having. :D Overall a really pleasant experience!

Have been going to this pub for years. The staff are fantastic. Went yesterday for dinner and Covid precautions are first class. Sally served us and was brilliant. Sadly the food was not. The starter was mushrooms....about one cut into six slivers and cold. The fish and chips were no better. Greasy ( perhaps need to change the oil). The supposedly triple cooked chips were insipid looking and cold. The halloumi was so tough I was lucky not to break a tooth. Other half was ill in the night. Sadly the food is letting the whole place down which is a shame.

We had booked a table a few weeks ago for a noon lunch. We received a courtesy call 1.5 hours before to check we were okay to attend still taking into the bad weather as they had to remove the umbrellas due to high wind.When we arrived we were led to a nice table and allowed protocols met. We enjoyed our food (tasty burger and fries) and our drinks. Izzy and Andy served us and were friendly and efficient.A lovely lunch in a great setting he sun came out and with excellent staff, highly recommend you visit soon.

Welcomed by an officious fella who oozed self importance much like a car park attendant. Had his facts wrong regarding covid regs and really wasn't there to protect the public at all. It somply was an ego trip for him. It made what was a simple meet up with a friend a horrid experience. Our company is not going to put up with that and thus the various business meets will no longer occur here.

My first visit to the pub since groups were allowed to meet outdoors again was to the Swan & Bottle on a Friday night. We were there to belatedly celebrate a friend’s birthday and have a general catch-up over beers. It was nice to see my friends in 3D again and not on a computer screen via Zoom, but it was really, really cold the night we went. Since we could only drink in the beer garden because of government rules, I was sat shivering for most of the evening. Fair enough, the pub can’t control the weather, however they can control whether they install outdoor heaters, which were definitely called for on this night. There were no heaters anywhere in the beer garden that I could see and it got so cold that we only half-jokingly asked the barmaid if she had any blankets and hot water bottles. She didn’t. It seems to me heaters would be good for the pub to invest in because of the always unpredictable British weather, so I encourage them to do this. There is also an absence of any kind of lighting outdoors so after dark, the only time you really get to see your companions’ faces is when they are illuminated by the headlights of a passing car. Another grumble was that no instructions were provided for how to buy drinks. It turns out you have to download an app, but when I did this, it didn’t work because it didn’t recognise my debit card details - neither when I scanned the card with my phone, nor when I entered them manually. Thankfully, a generous friend bought my round for me. On a balmy evening in summer, this beer garden can be nice - I know because I’ve experienced it. On this particular night, however, I couldn’t wait to go home.

Visited this pub for a drink and wish we hadn't bothered. We were seated without any instruction on how to order, it was only 20 minutes later we saw a sign that recommended using their app as that would be a quicker option. The app was not working we waited 30 minutes and still not one member of staff had come over to take our order and we were not the only customers sat there waiting to be served. We decided to leave as we had still not been served at this point, on our way out I let the Manager know why we were leaving and that there were several other tables that were sat outside waiting to be served, she couldn't have cared less, there was no apology and to be honest the pub wasn't exactly busy either. Will not be returning and I certainly wont be recommending.

Visited on Friday evening, the atmosphere was good and the sun was shining. The waitresses were attentive and the manager Lorraine couldn't be more hospitable and welcoming. A very enjoyable night. Will definitely visit again soon.

Went there for drinks with friends on St George's day and wow. Lorraine was excellent as usual. From the minute we got there nothing was too much trouble. Sital was also fantastic, not only was she on her A game, but very friendly and had a laugh with us which really made our night.Most definitely be returning again. Especially if those 2 are working. Highly recommend this place. Massive thumbs up from me.

We came here as it was the closest Chef & Brewer Pub to use our Tesco Vouchers (in case you don’t know: points from your Tesco Shopping can be used as Vouchers for Meals, and every 50p in vouchers can become 1,50£ in food!). It is a cute little pub with a lovely terrace overlooking the canal, inviting you to have a little digestion walk afterwards to Uxbridge Lock. The staff is very friendly and helpful and even helped us to deduct the parking costs from our bill! We had lunch in the sun, the steak & wine pie with the most amazing gravy... and the creamiest mac & cheese I’ve ever eaten, with tomato-basil crumb and perfect with the sweetness of the BBQ rib. Try their alcohol free cocktails, the strawberry & cranberry one is the best, absolutely refreshing and perfectly balanced! I’m sure you’ll enjoy your stay just as we did - it is elegant and delicious food, and offers many ways to save with vouchers, parking deductions and lunchtime offers - bon appetit!

Slow service had to wait ages for somebody to take a drinks order, ended up using the app in the end otherwise would of been sat there all day, my friends had finished their food by the time I got my meal and it was cold but I was so hungry I couldn’t be bothered to complain and wait for a new meal, overall I recommend going somewhere else.
