Vivo Amigo Cardiff in Cardiff

Had a table booked for Valentines dinner at 6 pm. The restaurant was not busy. We got a lovely warm place by a radiator, as we required. We ordered prawn and calamari for starters, prawn spaghetti and buttered chicken penne for the main course. My son had the prawn dinner and it was pleasant. My penne however was stodgy and overcooked, I could only manage to eat half of my portion, I did appreciate the flavour though. I did mention this to an attentive waiter. The dessert of cheesecake and tiramisu was nice 🙂 Tap water had a strange smell and taste to it, a slice of lemon in a jar could rectify the problem. We drank moktails, they were lovely. As I was waiting for my dessert, I felt heavy, as if I had a meal of rocks. The penne and chicken refused to digest. On the way home I started feeling more digestive discomfort. 8 hours after the meal, I was glad that I was home and close to my bathroom. It's 4 am now, and I still cannot sleep, waiting for my stomach to settle. The only other thing I had to eat yesterday was a croissant with coffee 😔 I just wanted to treat myself and my son to an Italian meal on a special day. The day became special for a different reason unfortunately. 😔 All in all, a confused restaurant, Mexican? Indian? Definitely not Italian. With bad food hygiene and very overpriced for what it's got to offer.

Popped in for a quick bite after work. Wonderful staff, exceptional flavours and great ambience. You must visit this great restaurant. The menu is unique and the portions a very generous. I will be back.

Amazing find. This is a must visit if you also love Indian and Mexican food like us. Curry/fillings were so flavoursome, just as good as other popular Indian restaurants in Cardiff. The food was fresh, colourful and vibrant in flavour. Service is great, they really take the time to serve you. Our new favourite!

We came on a Sunday for some lunch, I'd meant to visit for ages and I was not disappointed! Exceptional value, the service was impeccable, the food was to die for. Really flavoursome, fresh and rich.

High quality food! Still hot on arrival even though it’s a decent distance away. Very filling!!! I’d definitely recommend! Delivery driver was great too considering our area is difficult to navigate!

It was just unfortunate timing when we went. There was a large party in (who were rowdy and not very family friendly). This caused a delay in our food. While the staff were apologetic and attentive to the situation, there was no compensation offered because of the wait. The food is fantastic and I would still absolutely recommend.

I recently ordered from Indi Mex for the first time. The delivery was on time, arriving in about 45 minutes as promised. However, the food was a bit cold upon arrival, and I felt the portion sizes were a little small for the price. Additionally, the dishes could have used a bit more seasoning, as they tasted slightly under-salted and blend That said, the flavors were decent, and I appreciate the unique blend of Indian and Mexican cuisine. I might give them another try to see if it was just an off day. Hopefully, next time the experience will be better

Great menu! Prices very reasonable. Portions weren't huge so may not fill you up. Wait time reasonable. Staff very friendly. Would happily revisit! This was fajitas, chicken roti tacos and beef burger.

Visited with colleagues for a lunchtime retirement party - Vikram and his team were so friendly and helpful (there were 20 of us so we pre-ordered) and everyone commented how great the food and service was! A hidden gem in Cardiff, highly recommend!

We had a good time @VIVO AMIGO. It was really a nice experience. The entire service was amazing by the crew. I really enjoyed the Tandoori Chicken Burrito. I would highly recommend this restaurant who looking for a budget friendly space with your family, friends.

Fantastic food, I had the Roti Tacos which were fantastic, the portion sizes are really generous and the staff were really welcoming and polite.

Well where do I start . If your looking for a big fancy restaurant that is really expensive, the food not great and the service is nonexistent then eat somewhere else. This is a small restaurant that my wife chose as she wanted to try something different. From the moment we entered the waitor was running towards us greeting us and this continued through the meal 10 out 10 for service. The food I couldn't decide so I asked for advice and it was bang on what they said it was and it was amazing. Main meal was a generous size with my wife enjoying a cocktail which she has never drunk before and that was fantastic I know because I sneaked a sip . The biggest shock of the evening was the price . When I told my wife what the bill was after she asked me I had to show it to her , she didn't believe me. We had 2 starters 2 main course water a pint of lager a cocktail extra dips tortilla and fries . We were stuffed leaving there for a few quid more than a takeaway. Couldn't believe how cheap it was for the food and service we had . The 2 guys there were super friendly. Already booked to go back with family for our pre Christmas meal out . 10 out of 10 this place .

Great meal & service but next time get the decorator to use fast drying paint plus put up lots of signs saying "wet paint" then people will not get paint on their hands...... But like I say, the food & service was fine & we will definitely come again.

Went here with my wife and 2 year old on a Friday afternoon. Was nice and calm environment for our toddler and the service was exemplary - understood bringing kids food out along with starters so they weren’t waiting, service was quick and everything we ordered was delicious. It’s a really nice spin on 2 cusines which married very well without being over the top. Would highly recommend

Just amazing. Couldn't have asked for a more welcome greeting with a lovely atmosphere which isn't too loud but it's nice and busy. If I could rate the food higher I would it's absolutely perfect, my favourite restaurant by far, and the price is super affordable :)

Food was delicious and service good

I was a bit unsure what to expect from an indian-mexican fusion menu but it was all delicious and the service was so friendly - they even presented the birthday boy (husband) with a delicious chocolate cake and candle which helped make the event special. Good food and good value for money.

I always worry about delivery, however the food was superb and nice and hot. We ordered our restruant favourite, beef enchilada which was delicious as always.

One of the best places to eat in Cardiff, don't sleep on this hidden gem. It looks unassuming but the food is where this place shines. This Indian-Mexican fusion food works so well - better than you'd ever think, and every item we tried was delicious.

Be very careful if you have dietary requirements or allergies/intolerances! Ordered a starter a to share with my partner and specified 'vegan'. I'd eaten half my part before getting suspicious and checking with the server. Even then she wasn't concerned about my queries until I insisted she checked with the chef. I'm lactose intolerant and they'd given us dairy cheese. Apologies given along with no charge to our order, but I could never trust this place again after this. Double check everything and insist on speaking to the chef if there's any concerns because our server was poorly informed and had little-to-no knowledge about veganism or my dietary requirements. EDIT: The next day I experienced stomach cramps and upset which was no doubt due to my experience here. Avoid!

Anniversary dinner as we thoroughly enjoyed our first visit some months ago, arrived a bit early for our table at 8 wasn't a problem for the team excellent service from the new waitress, food as ever was gorgeous well presented with fantastic portion size. It's definitely one of our top restaurants to dine at in Cardiff. See you soon

Fantastic quality food at an amazing price. Service couldn't be faulted. With two mains, sides and cocktails our food came to under £40. We will definitely be back to enjoy more of their menu.

I like Vivo Amigo and want it to continue to succeed in this difficult time for independent restaurants. Unfortunately our experience on Saturday 22nd June did not seem conducive to future success, and was hopefully not a sign that standards have slipped. We were a "walk-in" at around 9pm when there were two other tables present, both of which appeared to have finished their main courses. We ordered with the waitress: a sharer of nachos to start (requested the dips to come on the side rather than on the dish, which we were told was no problem), two coconut squash dhansak enchiladas and a side of patatas bravas (which the waitress confirmed that we wanted with the main courses). The wait for the nachos was...unusually long, given that the restaurant was not overly busy. When they finally arrived, of course the dips were slathered all over the dish rather than on the side. Having already waited, we could not be bothered to change the dish and just ate them. There then followed another unusual wait for the enchiladas. We've eaten here in busier periods and never waited so long for dishes. Indeed there seemed to be a lot of chat going on from the kitchen staff who were visible behind the bar, rather than any cooking. The meals finally arrived, minus the side of patatas bravas which we'd requested be served the same time. After a couple of minutes there was no evidence that these were going to arrive, so we reminded a waiter that we wanted it all together. He simply replied "two minutes". Guess what...it was nothing like two minutes before they finally turned up. We'd eaten the majority of our mains before this side arrived. Not a great deal of concern from the staff at this slack standard of service. After getting the bill we left without leaving any tip, an unusual experience for us, but we felt that the service simply didn't warrant it. Whether this was new waiting staff or simply apathy on the part of the kitchen staff, I hope that the owner can get things back on track. If this had been our first visit I'm not sure we'd have rushed back.

Good portions and food was alright but service was not very good

I was really impressed with the menu, service and experience at Vivo Amigo. The fusion works really well. I had the tapas bites, which were delicious, varied and plentiful, followed by some of the tastiest tacos I’ve had. The service was excellent and tye food and drinks proved to be really good value. I’ll definitely go back to try more of the really varied and unique menu.

Great food and service and the atmosphere was nice. A cool blend of Mexican and Indian cuisine with a menu full of choices. Burgers too for the less adventurous person in your group

A good Indo-Mexican fusion restaurant, vegetarian varieties a plus, nice taste and portion. I am trying this for the second time and will surely go again and again. I am a vegetarian and would recommend for its Veg menu. This is a good to go in Cardiff.

Simply delicious. Vivo Amigo Cardiff is a real find! From the moment we walked in, we were blown away by the delicious food. Seriously, I couldn't decide what to order – everything sounded amazing! The prices were fair, so we need to visit again, multiple times to try it all. Their house cocktails are top-notch! Unfortunately they did forget a side dish, but honestly, the main portions were so generous, we hardly missed it. The staff were super friendly and made us feel right at home. I'd definitely recommend Vivo Amigo to anyone looking for a fantastic dining experience in Cardiff! 5 stars all around.

Been here 3 times in the last two years and it’s consistently great. Indian - Mexican fusion shouldn’t really work but somehow it does.

Food was good, we had a few mixed dishes that came quickly enough. Atmosphere was busy and loud at times but we would come again

Came here to try something different as the reviews were all good. The staff were lovely the place itself nice, but the food was a let down. Curry with Mexican does not go well at all, everything was with curry or spice. Food very Rich and not great tasting , and the nann bread is shop Bought from a packet . Ordered a crème boulle for desert, It was nothing like one. Very disappointing , glad we had the offer as I would be more gutted paying full price. And a bottle of SMALl cheep Spanish bear for £4.50😳wow. The pic is a crème brûlée , it was an ice cream cone with cream and jam in it. I think you either go to a curry or a Mexican restaurant, the both together idea I think is disappointing.

Wow. Very rarely I leave a review but myself and my partner felt that we definitely had to for vivo amigo! Randomly booked after a shopping trip on our way home after seeing a couple of reviews on trip advisor and the curiosity of Mexican Indian cuisine was very intreging. We felt everything was a 10/10. The service was second to none, we cant remember his name, but what an attentive gentleman. We then indulged in a three course meal and couldn't say one negative thing about any of it. Everything was so tasty and a lovely touch with a free slice of cake for valentines! More than reasonable pricing for good quality of food! We are already looking forward to the our next visit!

Try this over the chain restaurants. Excellent food! What a great fusion of flavors! Plenty of veggie options and the paneer burrito made my day, it was great. Lovely staff who took the time to go through some of the other menu items. Looking forward to going back!

What a gem in Cardiff! Mexican-Indian food, the best little, cozy restaurant in Cardiff. It's our another visit and food is absolutely beautiful. We are coming especially for it from Bridgend and we never disappointed. Starters, mains and desserts all absolutely delightful. As always we had a wonderful meal, the Indian Mexican fusion is such a great idea. We had beef madras tacos and lamb meatballs to start both really delicious and then kerala beef enchiladas one of the best dishes ever. Fantastic food, really friendly service and good value, my favourite restaurant.
