Vivo in Edinburgh, City of

We were walking the Royale Mile, down one side and up the other. The restaurant we had chosen to eat in was already closed, so we decided to eat in the next open one we came to which was Cafe Vivo. It was a great choice. The service was excellent and the food was good. It is a storefront restaurant without a lot of ambience, but the friendliness of the staff and the good food made it work. We would definitely eat there again.

A tasty halloumi and avocado burger with a tropical smoothie. Swift service. Polite & friendly servers. Relaxed atmosphere with a very varied menu suited to all tastes. Good choice👍🏻

We decided to pop in here for lunch and were glad we did. Good value food, decent portion size and reasonable prices. Worth walking down to the quieter end of the Royal Mile for.

Sin medidas de distanciamiento social implementadas y sin seguimiento y rastreo. La comida no era buena. El panecillo estaba seco y la salchicha y el huevo estaban demasiado cocidos. Mi marido tomó una sopa que estuvo bien, pero no volvería a visitarla. Creo que hay lugares mucho mejores para comer a lo largo de la milla.

J’ai mis moyen uniquement par politesse car je trouve le mot médiocre un peu dur. On commande 3 plats un fish & chips, un burger végétarien et un plateau de falafel. Plat numéro un : Ce n’est clairement pas un fish & chips traditionnels mais un poisson panée de supermarchéLe deuxième plat : un pain avec une matière gluante à l’intérieur Le dernier c’était des falafel dur, avec un boulots correct et une présentation lamentable. Dans chaque commentaire que je met sur trip advisor je suis toujours très positive mais la impossible. La carte est bien trop cher pour le résultat.

The food is way to expensive for what you’re getting. We did not get the food at the same time. I would not recommend this for anyone

First off, the staff is hardworking and we had good friendly service. The establishment is clean. I ordered the bangers and mash and I am pretty sure the potatoes were instant. The gravy was tasty but the sausages were a bit overcooked. The fish N chips were not authentic. The filet seemed prepackaged. With that said it actually had a good flavor. Overall, it was a good experience but would not go back on the fact that there are too many other restaurants with awesome food in the area.

We had lunch here - the full Scottish breakfast, & haggis & chips. This was freshly cooked & was nice enough. The portions were generous. However, I thought it was expensive for what it was.

We came here because we were hungry. We ordered omlette and hamburger. The onlette with onion, cheese and ham was great. And chips was also great. But we recommend you not to order the burger here - it was poor (the kings burger). It had almost nothing except meat and ham. Empty burger....The prices are too high for the quallity pf the food. The service was fast and nice. You can not pay with the card, only cash. And they tell you that when you ask for the bill

Attracted by the sunshine on the outside seating area we quickly regretted our decision to take a seat. Rosé, which should be renamed strawberry syrup, dry rolls and overpriced below average panini. Don’t stop, you’re less than 5 minutes from far far better eateries.

Si estás en Edinburgo, del Castillo a la High St, hacia el Parlamento y la Queen's Gallery y tienes que descansar para desayunar o comer ya es una buena opción. Pero si encima lo que quieres es evitar los haggis y el fish and chips y comer unos bocatas, sandwiches y ensaladas de toda la vida y muy del estilo español este es el sitio. El servicio bueno, los empleados muy atentos. Fuimos para almuerzo entre las 2 y 4 pm. Todo muy bien.

Lovely little cafe with inside and outside seating. We were greeted with a friendly smile and given a choice of places to sit. The breakfast menu had plenty of choice on it and the food was cooked to order. Lovely food and at a good price.

It was raining hard and my husband was hungry so to get out of the down pour, we entered this disorganized cafe. My husband's omelet was overpriced but fine. My fish was rubbery and inedible. Even if you are getting soaked, push on and find another restaurant.

Needed a quick lunch for me and my family during the Edinburgh fringe festival. Cafe Vivo is within a block of the apartment we had rented so we stopped in for lunch. The food was quite good and the service was also good. After eating I noticed a sign that said “cash only” - fortunately I had cash with me. I’m not sure if it’s always cash only or perhaps they were having trouble with a credit card machine that day. In any event if you have a meal here and want to pay by credit check first to see about payment options. I was pleased with the meal and service though the cafe didn’t have a tremendous amount of character - just a basic and good cafe.

Very helpful staff, basic cafe menu specialising in breakfasts. My baked potato was fridge cold in places, but staff were helpful and it came back quickly v. hot. Hubby's soup didn't taste of much. Nice house wine.

My boyfriend and I visited Edinburgh for two days and we came to this cafe three times all because of the great food and the amazing service here. The breakfast was especially nice which is why we ate here for breakfast both mornings. You get given a choice of whether you want to sit inside or outside which is a plus.

Fantastic place for a Scottish breakfast and a coffee! I've come here twice after climbing up to Arthur's Seat and both times the food has been delicious and the service is great. Highly recommend it!

Arrived late in Edinburgh and didn’t know where to go. First place was 35-40 minute wait for pizza. Was passing Cafe Vivio and decided to give it a try. Both had jacket potatoes. Very tasty. Lovely, pleasant staff who were very friendly. Gave us info for visits around the area. Would recommend.

Ordered fried eggs on toast for two. Eggs were over cooked and dry toast with no butter. Even the HP sauce wasn’t HP. Waiter needed to learn some manners and try deodorant. Avoid, walk up road.

Quando estiver em Edimburgo não deixe de comer nesse restaurente. A comida é muito bem feita e saborosa e o preço é em conta. Depois de conhecer o Palácio de Holyrood e subir na colina para ver a cidade do alto, nada melhor do que comer nesse restaurante. Eu provei a torta de carne de carneiro e foi a melhor refeição que eu fiz no Reino Unido. O menu é bem variado e outra opção deliciosa é o Fish & Chips. Imperdível.

Expensive, and way below par. The worst meal we've had in Scotland. There were four of us, and each of us had a barely edible meal. All of the food (burger, chicken burger, fish and chips, and falafel wrap) was heated from frozen, and all poor quality. The salads were tiny, and the chips were also from frozen and terrible. My wife said the falafel wrap was dry, my fish was dry, and my 15 year old son, for the first time in his life, said his burger was "not very good". My 11 year-old son said his chicken burger was "ok". Do not eat here.

Expensive, just decent food. Cash only and they don't adversite it! We had to go to an ATM to pay more money (coming from the US).

Worst food I ate in Scotland. Mashed potatoes were instant (I watched the guy make them) and the consistency of play-doh with absolutely no flavor. The entire meal was practically inedible. To top it off, they don’t take cards which isn’t apparent until you are ready to pay. I saw many people struggling to count out exact change because the restaurant ‘didn’t have change’. It wasn’t the case when I paid my bill but perhaps that’s because of the two families ahead of me who paid exact. On a positive note, service was decent.

Ordered grilled salmon with mashed potatoes and a salad. Fish was OK; mashed potatoes came out of the box not even butter added, a spoonful of “salad”, no dressing. Price 30% higher than other places a block away. When we came to pay they casually informed us cash only, machine is not working. Did not mention it when we were placing the order.

Don't order burger. Not fresh and clearly no idea how to make a decent burger for 9 pound. The staff not trained at all and they have no idea how to work in a cafe or restaurant.

Leuke kleine zaak waar je heerlijke ontbijtjes kan eten voor een prima prijs. Gezellige en aardige bediening en ook nog aan de royal mile.

We had "pancakes" for breakfast which were £6.95 for three, not-fluffy "pancakes" with banana and golden syrup. Nutella was £0.75 extra. They were alright but nothing special.

Después de una larga mañana de turismo almorzamos en Café Vivo por probarlo y nos chupamos los dedos. Rápidos y todo muy sabroso. Las papas fritas con queso muy ricas, sobre todo si vas cansado y con hambre. No son demasiado cercanos pero tampoco nos amargó la experiencia. Si bajaran un poco el precio ya sería genial.

I was staying at the Premier Inn Hub near Waverley station. I always prefer to eat breakfast outside of hotels in independent cafes. This venue looked as good a place as any at the more peaceful end of the Royal Mile.

royalmail is also the most convenient cleanest place with very good service vegetarian thanks.......

We stopped here for breakfast a couple of times and lunch on one occasion because we were staying nearby. It's a small place but service and the food were both good.

We popped in on a Saturday afternoon and had baked potatoes and soup. All three of us enjoyed our meal. The potatoes are big and fillings very generous so we didn't manage to finish them.

This is a hole in the wall along the Royal Mile but is quite nice whether you want a coffee or a sandwich or a bit more. Lovely waitress. We went there several times.

I ordered a decaffeinated coffee and bring a normal coffee so I could't sleep the whole night, really a big big mistake, I will never forget.

Cerca de Holyrood, Paramos aquí para el desayuno - 1 Inglés y 1 Escocés, ambos muy buenos, como el té y el café. El café estaba limpia y bien cuidada, y la señorita que nos servía era muy agradable y servicial. El menú era variado - Medio Oriente/Británico y sin duda volveremos.

Wife had a good chicken salad, I had haggis over mash (I figured it was an obligation to try this before leaving Edinburgh.) Service was good and food was tasty.

The Vegetarian haggis burger is a must try! I loved it. The staff is also friendly and good with customer service. As a solo traveller I felt comfortable and welcomed to this cafe.

This is a little cafe offering good simple food. The coffee is good and the staff are friendly. The only down side is the fryer isnt vented well and I came out smelling of fat.
