VIP Very Italian Pizza in Brighton and Hove

Really well thought out themed Italian restaurant. Every last detail from the menu to the decor and the food was superbly done.

Great pizza with authentic Italian flavours. Nice atmosphere and the service was good considering how busy it was. Overall, a solid spot for a decent meal, will return 👍

Volevamo mangiare in un ristorante vicino alla scuola che ospitava i nostri studenti in soggiorno studio...e abbiamo trovato questo ristorante meraviglioso che ci ha accompagnato tutta la settimana!!! Great pizza. A small restaurant, so if it is full it can be quite noisy, as it were when we visit. But not a big problem and the food is good!

We had never heard of VIP before but our eye was caught by a lovely Italian vintage turquoise Vespa scooter that stopped us sufficiently long enough to look into the restaurant and see how warm and cosy it looked and so we determined to try it out on the way back from our relaxed walk along the balmy promenade by the pier. When we got back it was still packed enough to make one assume that you wouldn't get in without a booked table but we though we'd ask in any case. A cheeky looking young Italian man approached us with dishevelled spiky black hair and a giant smile across his face and the first thing he asked us was if we'd booked a table! When we said 'no', a cheeky smile appeared and he just said, 'no worries, follow me downstairs to what we call the 'dungeon'. This was a lovely basement area full of warm light and interesting items/murals on the wall and he guided us to a small 2 person table, handed us the menus and said that he'd go and get us some fresh water to start off with. He then left us and another tall young man took over the role of our waiter. He too was very friendly and smiley and made us feel very welcome, so that was a good handover. We orderdered a single delicious sounding pizza to eat between us, called Napolenta, which comprised of cherry tomatoes, giant capers, black olives, various cheeses and some deliciously salty anchovies, which all contributed to a deeply tasty culinary experience which we both loved. Anyway, first of all he brought us some visually enticing unique ceramic dishes that had been made and hand painted in Naples with some wonderfully organic and colourful designs. Then the pizza arrived and it matched all of the others that we'd seen on neighbouring tables - exciting to look and tasty to the tongue, especially the crispy sourdough base that served to bring out nuances of all of the other ingredients. All of the staff made us feel welcome, even the young woman Francesca who took our payment for the bill of only £11.75! We enjoyed our very special experience together and vowed to return again sometime soon! Try them out and enjoy!

2nd time here, nowhere near as good as the 1st occasion. My starter (Fiori di zucca) was really good. My main/secondi (Scaloppina al lumone) was awful - very sinuey, texture suggested that it had been cooked too quickly, smothered in far too much sickly lemon sauce that tasted like lemon curd diluted with lemon juice - so bad that I didn't eat it. My side dish (Patate arrosto) was a joke - £6.95 for what wasn't even one whole potato which was served luke warm and sliced so thinly that any hint of taste & texture was nowhere to be found. At least my coffee (capucino) was good! We were seated downstairs, exceedingly cramped with just an inch or so between the tables which were so small they couldn't actually accommodate all of the crockery, cutlery & glasses. Maybe we just choose the wrong night (Friday) but to say we were very unimpressed compared to our previous visit would be an understatement. Consistency does not seem to be VIP's strong point.

Essentials when visiting Brighton: 1. Go to the Pier 2. Visit The Lanes 3. Lunch/dinner at V.I.P. Restaurant Popped into Brighton from London on Friday 19th for a few birthday drinks and feeling peckish popped into V.I.P. and as usual, it didn't fail to impress.....consistently delicious. The way a pizza should be! (highly recommend Napoletana) On this particular evening, we were looked after by the lovely VERINA. She was so pleasant and attentive and always seemed to be there without being noticed or intrusive. Thank you, Verina and the rest of the team, for your hospitality.....once again, we left with happy stomachs and smiles on our faces! (ps. Is there any possibility of opening a restaurant in London? 😜)

Surely impossible to find better pizza anywhere in Brighton! The food is always delicious and the service is invariably swift, friendly and efficient. Negative reviews from those with no TA history can safely be ignored. VIP is nearly always full and it’s normal to see a queue outside the door so booking in advance is advisable. Highly recommended.

Lazy, disinterested staff. Many empty tables, “you will have to wait” (after having waited for seating and having asked twice). No idea what the food might have been like, but the 4 guys waiting after us left too. And the point is??
