I ordered at counter and sat at a table.while my son chatted outside. My son came in and looked for me,this woman said "we have no space"My mixed race son said,"my mum is over there"" "where?" as she scanned the place ,looking for what?and she allowed him to come over to me!When she brought our food ,my son enquired could he have a bottle of water please? She said "you should have ordered before,go to counter to pay for it first"Awful experience, never go to Haworth again.Stares and whispers, never experienced this before in Yorkshire, and NOT in a cafe !Food was ok.

Went for a casual lunch with my son. Terrible service, over priced and got my order wrong. My son ordered a hot roast beef flat cake which cost £9. It came in a very small tcake with 2 small pieces of beef and a very small side salad. I questioned if the price was correct as on the menu board it said £5 and being local I know a flat cake is a bigger version of a tcake! My order arrived as a cheese sandwich on white, I ordered a cheese and onion toastie on brown. I politely advised the order was wrong which didn't go down well. I requested a refund which I was given, minus the 2 drinks we had ordered as we had drunk those whilst waiting for our order! Needless to say we won't be going back!

A great little cafe near the top of the town, very busy with locals as well as tourists. We first popped in for a cafe and liked the look of the cakes, pastries and hot snacks on display so we came back again later for a lunch of delicious toasted sandwiches with lovely thick slices of bread.

30/3/24 I attended with my family consisting of 5 adults, 2 children and twin newborns. It was lunchtime on bank holiday weekend and granted very busy. On entry, before sitting down or queuing to order we asked one of the ladies behind the till if she could accommodate us being a big group with a chunky twin pram. She showed us to a 6 seater table and pulled us a chair on the end so everyone could be seated. With that, my Aunty queued and payed for our cakes and coffee (£40 for all of us and the cakes and coffee were all well made and delicious) We sat down and tucked in. As we were tucking in the table to the side of us left, the staff turned it over for a group of 5 people. As they were sitting down, a different, older lady stood in-front of our table and practically shouted at my mum for sitting on the end of the table as it goes against fire safety. Now, her point was very valid and of course non arguable. However, when we explained that the younger lady had directed us to sit here she said ‘no she didn’t’ very loud and argumentative drawing embarrassing attention to me and my family. The loud, attention seeking conversation went on for about 5 minutes consisting of her taking no responsibility for her staff and the situation at hand as she was ‘on lunch when we came in’ and resulted in my sister, who has just had major abdominal surgery, standing so my mum could finish her scone seated. 1) ALL STAFF should be trained in fire safety and we should have never have been seated there. 2) This issue could have been promptly resolved with a quiet conversation causing no embarrassment. 3) I unfortunately didn’t get the loud ladies name but I think she could benefit from problem solving and customer service training as the whole situation was handled incorrectly. It goes without saying that we found your staff unprofessional and unaccommodating and we shall NEVER return!!

Lovely food and friendly staff. Had the toasties and definitely was not disappointed. Forget about your typical toatie, with wafer thin bread and ingredients. Oh no sir. Really thick bread, white ir brown. Super thick ham, lots of cheese and onion, with a little side salad. Plus portion of chips on the side. Perfect. It was busy but thankfully found a seat. Also bought cakes on th way out. Fat tyke cake, bit like a scone mix but firmer with raisens, cherries and almonds.

The breakfast was awful. They had cremated the bacon and sausage and the yolk on the fried egg was hard. The only thing they had cooked properly was the mushrooms and beans, and they were probably out of a tin.

We have been going to Haworth for over 20 years. Every year we have gone to the villette. Up until a couple of years ago, it was 5 stars all the way, the last couple of years it has gone downhill in all aspects. I always had a meat pie, for thevwalk on the moors, the last couple of years I have had a bad stomach afterwards. Didn't have one this year and stomach was fine. Low point was breakfast. Asked for a toasted sandwich on thick bread. Was told they don't do it. The table next to me had thick bread, asked again, was told it was possible but would have to be rang up differently. This was seen as a massive imposition by the older lady. Food arrived. Sons breakfast: dried up bacon, off sausage, crispy egg. He described it as a play dough breakfast, with less taste. Wife breakfast: Crispy eggs, brown edges, doughy bread. Young lady that served was pleasant. Older lady brought my my sandwich, just dumped on table then walked away, I was polite and thanked her,, no response. Egg was brown ( seemed the norm) bacon dried up, bread hardly toasted. Seemed the bacon may have been leftover. I was a Chef for about 8 years. I would have been ashamed to serve this food for free, nevermind charge for it. Only plus was the coffee was OK. Avoid if you can, I will not be going there again.Shame it used to be a lovely place with good honest food. May have been a change in management? Anyway, hope this helps if you take time to read.

Whilst the food and drink was absolutely fine I was disturbed on my visit when I witnessed a very rude member of staff (short in height, glasses and short hair) verbally belittle customers who were struggling with making payment and evidently had trouble navigating language barriers. The visiting customers appeared to be from overseas and they struggled with making payment, rather than being helpful the member of staff spoke over the counter in a condescending and arrogant manner until the customers were forced to abandon their order and leave. They looked upset and embarrassed. Rather than any attempt to help they were spoken at as if they were children. I then witnessed another customer, again appearing to not be native English speaking, enquire about methods of payment, the same member of staff rolled her eyes and informed them in an abrupt manner that card was accepted, the customer repeated her to clarify her answer and she tapped rudely at the card reader. The customer thanked her coyly and left back to their table, also seeming embarrassed to have been spoke to in such a manner. I was honestly stunned by this awful display of customer service. I’ve recently just moved into the area, I’m testing all the spots and I certainly will not be entering this establishment again if this is the level of customer service you think is acceptable. I don’t know if it was a bad day a busy day or anything to that effect but it shouldn’t reflect on how your customers are being treated. It was very busy and a lot of people witnessed this, I can’t imagine it left a good taste in anyone’s mouth. I

During our week's stay near Haworth we visited Villette three times for takeaway cakes and they were good. However, our opinion of this cafe changed when we visited for brunch on 13/4/23. I placed our order at the counter and there was no offer of help to take the drinks to our table. I use a walking stick and my wife uses a walker. I managed to get the tray to our table without mishap and sat down next to my wife. No sooner had I sat down than a gormless young lad member of staff came over, picked up the tray that I had just put on the table and began to walk off with it. I said we hadn't even started pouring the drinks. He took two further steps away before it registered and he turned round and replaced said tray on our table. A little while later he reappeared with our meals. I asked him if we could have some cutlery and the very rude response was, "It's over there next to where you ordered." I asked if he would help us a we are both disabled but he just ignored us and walked off. My wife struggled to get up to go and fetch some and a lady on the next table asked her very young granddaughter to fetch some cutlery for us. (Thank you, Megan !!) At the same time the lady commented on the lack of "service" ! Had it not been for this rude and inept member of staff I would have gladly given Villette a five star rating. He lets down the establishment and is need of retraining - assuming he has actually had any training in the first place.

Visited here for some lunch. The man behind the counter advised us once we had decided were going to be eating in to take a seat and showed us to a corner table. We asked about the app but he said he could write our order on paper. We sat and chose what we wanted and no-body came. There was an older lady waiting on who went to other tables who had come in after us and took their orders and monies with no mention of the app. When we caught her attention we were asked if we had checked in with the app. We tried to explain that we were told we did not need the app as the only mobile phone we had was switched off. The waitress had not asked the others she had served about the app and had taken there orders and monies. As we had waited so long and time was getting on we decided to leave. On our way out i said we will not bother as we have been ignored and others were served before us who had just come in at sat down. The waitress then said to my partner that i was the one who had been rude, not her.Its put me off coming with the waitress been like that with us and its a shame as the food and cakes look lovely.

Oh dear!! We have been regular visitors to Villette for several years now. It has always been a highlight of our visits to Haworth. However, after today’s shambles, I doubt very much whether we will be re-visiting any time soon.Dreadful. We stood waiting at the “Wait Here” board for quite some time. Unfortunately, people waiting to be seated are hidden behind any customers being served in the take away bakery, and no-one is monitoring this.We sanitised our hands, and a young lady took us to a table. After TWENTY minutes a young lady came to take our order. This was then another 10 minutes being brought to us (3 hot drinks - nothing else!). We had a parsonage visit booked and so sadly my little girl left a full mug of hot chocolate. Two ladies who had been standing waiting at the “wait here to be seated” sign for a terrific length of time gave up and walked out. There were 4 members of staff at least that we counted. the upstairs section is out of use, and the downstairs tables were not all full - so hardly busy. Yet staff just seemed to be drifting around aimlessly whilst customers got fed up of waiting and walked out...When our 3 drinks were eventually brought to the table, we were asked how we were going to pay, no bill, no nothing..... just “here’s the drinks you’ve waited 30 minutes for - how are you paying?lReally, truly awful. Please bring Debbie back...... reading other comments and speaking to other customers on the day, we are not the only ones seeing the huge negative impact the absence of a decent manager is having on what used to be a little gem.

Unfortunately there were few cafes open on the day we visited so ended up in Villette. Sat at a table with dirty plates and cups, was passed by a staff member who went to the toilet and back, a member of staff who delivered food, a member of staff delivering hot chocolate, still a dirty table... but I moved them to a recently vacated table, so did other customers who had come in to dirty tables. Not good. So my wife queued up for 14 minutes (I noted the time as we were catching the steam train) and returned with our drinks. Shortly after came out ‘Yorkshire’ pasty’s. Well I can now tell you the difference between a Yorkshire pasty and a Cornish pasty - Cornish pasty’s are tasty and have plenty of filling, Yorkshire pasty’s have little filling which is tasteless mush and too much pastry which tastes strongly of bicarbonate of soda. Horrid. Well, we made our train in plenty of time, but still hungry.

Popped in for a coffee on the toss of a coin (theres another coffee shop opposite) wish we’d gone to the other cafe The staff were unhelpful and off hand The cafe was quiet but everything seemed to be an effort They offered a free bonfire ginger cake samples when we entered but apparently even though they sold this cake it was take away only, no idea why they couldn’t sell it My wife’s Eccles cake was dry and not a pleasant cake The coffees were fine but a real shame to find unhelpful staff who could have been so much more pleasant and welcoming

Went in here for breakfast a couple of mornings the staff where really friendly. Breakfast was very nice, place was lovely and clean and had loads of people pop in to the bakery while we sat there. Also sold some nice gifts which we brought while there. Tins of biscuits etc. Right in middle of high street sat in window and watched everyone walking past. Really nice place.

This place is a must! Good food, varied menu, warm dishes and prompt service. Enjoyed reviwiewing the training certificates and skill achievements of the staff. A good indication that as a business it invests in the employees which in turn reflects in the good products/ services delivered. Very good value for money as well.Looking forward to visit again.

One of many cafes on main street this one also has a good take out counter for pastries and cakes as well as marmalades, biscuits etc. If eating in you chose a table and go to the counter for drinks and light bites. Hot food and other plated meals are brought to you. At the time of the visit the cafe was quite busy and had a mix of people including a few families for which this cafe is ideal. Service was good.

This cafe serves really good food and drink but the premises are busy and crowded. By the time I managed to get to my table I had been knocked into twice and slopped coffee on my tray. This is a busy cafe and shop and they sort of meet in the middle and it all gets a little congested. Shame really and this is a pleasant cafe, but also crowded with tables with little room between. Otherwise good food and very pleasant, friendly staff.

Visited this place as we simply wanted a cake and coffee which we were looking forward to but young lady behind the counter serving us was rude and disinterested, we asked a simple question about the cakes and if there was any milk for my coffee, we were met with snappy replies and a pulled face. Very very poor first impressions of this place and clearly needs customer service training, I will take my business elsewhere, a place I am made to feel welcome.

Fuimos a visitar Haworth, un encantador pueblecito inglés, cuna de la hermanas Brönte. En su calle principal está este típico establecimiento británico para tomar un té, o comer, como fue nuestro caso un típico pudding de Yorkshire. No sirven alcohol. Comida sencilla sin pretensiones para sentirse cien por cien “british”.

I love this bakery that is situated on the main cobbled street with bespoke shops, close to the Bronte Parsonage in Haworth. The quality of their goods has been consistent at least for last 14 years whilst I have lived in Yorkshire. I enjoy their fat rascals ( yes, this is what they are called- similar to a large cookie but not too sweet) and the Yorkshire curd tart. If they had a branch in Huddersfield where I live, I would go and treat myself often and buy their freshly made products as gifts from Yorkshire. They have a cafe at the back too that I have never visited. I strongly recommend all tourists to Howarth to visit this bakery. It’s on the right hand side as you walk down the cobbled street at the Parsonage end. I can not recommend it enough. Fortunately I found the packaging of my half eaten “rascal “ to remember its name to review it here.

Had been to the Parsonage and wanted to get some lunch somewhere. We chose here because my other half said it smelled good on the way up the hill. It did. We had a lovely lunch here, but to be honest, it wasn’t quite a clean as it could have been. The tables weren’t wiped when we sat down. But it was very busy, and I suspect the staff go home shattered at the end of the night!

2nd day in Haworth.Went to get some sandwiches/pies and a cake each to eat out,but the food smelled good so decided to eat in.Brilliant table by the window.Iwent up to order pork pie, beans and chunky chips and a mince pie, mushy peas and chunky chips, with gravy, with tea for 2.I was then told after I had sat back down no pork pies left,so ordered steak slice.I asked if the tea could come same time as the meal. The meal came very quickly, and as the lady walked away I reminded her about the gravy-and the teas.which she knew nothing about and had to check. The meal was very mediocre and cheap tasting. The tea in seperate pots was bloshy and pale despite being stirred.Having said all this the cakes and the trifles I brought home with us were fantastic!Cant win em all!

Some previous reviews don't do this place justice. Friendly welcome from the staff (and it was very busy), good choice on the menu with hot & cold food, all very reasonably priced. I had the Fish Finger Sandwich - this was three very large fish fingers in bread, served with a side salad & a bucket of chunky chips. Pot of tea did nearly three cups which was plenty. Big selection of cakes, buns and biscuits were all very tempting but I was full from the lunch. Definitely one to visit again.

Went for lunch on a visit to Howarth to the villette and had a bacon sandwich which was excellent, my wife had a sausage sandwich which she enjoyed apart from the tough skins. The meat inside was good . Tea for two but was asked to pay 50 pence for some hot water with the tea. Normally when you order tea you get a teapot with the tea, milk and a jug of hot water. To be asked to pay an extra 50 p for hot water ,I think is out of order and spoiled the occasion.

Thoroughly enjoyed two visits to Villette during our stay in Haworth. Whilst it may not look as quaint and cosy as others, it is bright, spacious & airy inside. The full breakfast was one of the nicest we’ve ever been served and the freshly baked pastries and pasties are delicious. Recommend the ‘fat tyre’ warmed with their excellent cappuccino. The ladies were all really lovely, excellent all round .

I was very disappointed with the customer service that i recieved from this particular coffee house and bakery. Myself and two friends recieved a very hostile atmosphere from the members of staff who seemed to have nothing better than to do than to lecture us about using their toilet when deciding between their cafe and the one across the road. I would not recommend anybody to use this cafe especially considering with the attitude i recieved that they like to belittle people based on their age. I was called out and embarrassed infront of my friends that their toilet isn’t public repeatedly even though i apologised and that i should buy something or make a donation even though i didn’t have any cash. However; I am glad to say that when you cross the road there is a lovely cafe called cobbles and clay, from whom I recieved a very walm and welcome customer service and enjoyed a very tasty panini.

After wandering around Haworth on a Tuesday, feeling a little disappointed that many of the shops were closed! Walked past this lovely bakery and cafe on the old, cobbly street close to the Bronte Parsonage and museum. Such an attractive shop front to draw us in. Lots of freshly prepared breads/cakes and other delicacies! The cafe provides hot and cold food/ afternoon teas and a variety of drinks. We opted for both hot and cold dishes. The Bronte club sandwiches were delicious, as was the large square yorkshire pudding with hot beef and veg. The cooked breakfast was hearty too. The meal arrived promptly. Staff were friendly and courteous.

After visiting the church and the parsonage, we needed somewhere to have a snack lunch, and were glad we found this place. The café is part take-away and partly café, and there is a wide range of foods available at reasonable prices. The portion sizes are generous - both food and hot beverages! We would certainly return on a future occasion.

I was looking for somewhere new to try that was dog friendly, that wasn’t too far away. I searched for the previous pub name as always wanted to try it and realised it was under new management. When we arrived it wasn’t busy but we had a warm greeting and had a choice of tables. The decor is really nice and cosy and our dog was given a bowl of water. We chose from the grill menu which was exceptional value and included a drink, chose Madri. We both had sirloin steak with all the trimmings including sauce and it was really good, piping hot and tasty. As it was a warm night we ordered another drink and sat outside overlooking the amazing view. We will be back for grill night and to try the main menu which had reasonable prices for food and wine. We aim to support local business and have told friends about this place, some have booked for next week already. If you want a good country pub without rip off prices (which most seem to have) then give this a try. Inside has fires and twinkly lights which will be lovely in winter. Service was welcoming and friendly and we are looking forward to our next visit. We will get a taxi so we can have a few drinks. No photos of the food but here is one of the view.

What a shame; so much history and absolute pride of place on this beautiful high street and the owners have created an absolutely soulless tourist trap with zero character 😔 having said that, prices weren't too expensive for the area so not all bad I guess.
