Arrived as it opened at 10am and was warmly greeted, seated and fabulous food served within 30 minutes. Poached eggs and pancetta on toasted was a lovely change and perfectly cooked. Also, a full English was amazing and top quality ingredients. Considering the price of food and horrendous costs to business the meals were so reasonable they deserved to be packed out, but I guess Birkdale likes a later brunch. We must return again soon for other meals!

We had lunch here on a Saturday and really enjoyed it. The welcome was warm and we were quickly seated with menus. The range of food for vegetarians was really wide and it was difficult to choose. I had creamy leek pie which was absolutely delicious. My husband had a large pasta dish which he struggled to finish but he really enjoyed it. We didnt have room for dessert so didnt see that menu at all. It was also reasonably priced. The only downside for my husband was that it felt quite noisy as the tables were a little close together and the room was a bit echoey.

Very noisy unable to have normal conversation at the table without frequent requests to repeat what was said. Lunchtime visit. Food and service average.

The restaurant rated as poor because upon weighing up all things it was on balance poor. The great food was let down by other things. The food was good, but let down by the level of service / attention, time for food to come and value for money. The food is fairly priced and perhaps 10% - 15% more expensive than other outstanding Italians in the Southport area so there or thereabouts. The food took an hour to come out, which in my mind is too long, but the drinks were extortionate. More than £16 for a double gin which is shocking.

My sister, her husband and I had a fabulous meal Wednesday 2nd at 7pm. The restaurant was extremely busy but Elisha the Manageress kindly gave us a table. We had spicy garlic bread to start, then my sister and I had Smoked Haddock Risotto with a lovely soft Poached Egg which we thoroughly enjoyed and my Brother in law opted for 2 x Starters, the Chicken Livers and Baked Mushrooms, we shared a gorgeous bottle of Merlot and believe me nothing was left. The staff at this restaurant are always lovely, friendly and helpful. Thank you Elisha.

Visited on Friday, 7 July early evening, it was quite busy outside, quiet inside. We had one pizza and one sea bass. No spoon given for sea bass tagliatelle No olive oil on the table or offered by waitress No Parmesan , no black pepper offered Food was okay Decent Pinot Grigio but should be chilled coz it was very hot outside All in all it was okay

What a dining delight the food was excellent we devoured every mouthful didn’t want it to end it’s now our number 1 Italian restaurant. Big shout out to Mike and the team customer service is great too. Thank you for a lovely evening.

We’ve visited a few times now and every time the food has been wonderful. We’ve had various dishes from steak, fish and pasta and never disappoints.. personally my fave is the lasagna.. BEST I’ve had. Service and staff friendly, professional and attentive too.

The food in this place is out of this world. Absolutely top quality products used. Only downside is having to ask every time you want a drink, dessert, bill etc. Not much staff follow up once you sit down. Would definitely return for the food though. Some authentic Italian music would also be lovely.

Excellent meal on a last minute reservation. Pizza's really are good and the place has a great atmosphere. I just wish they'd fork out for a RSJ and make the side section open into the rest of the main back of the restaurant.

Came here for my sisters birthday lunch today with my mum it’s our second visit and the food was delicious, staff are fabulous and the restaurant is beautiful . Even the toilets were spotless Thank you so much Will definitely be back 😋😋 x

My friend and I went for Sunday lunch and we both had a absolutely gorgeous meal. My friend had fish cakes followed by Chicken, I had a lovely glass of Pinot Grigio Rose and my main course was Tagliatelle with smoked salmon, tomatoes and chilli, we finished every mouthful. The ambiance at this restaurant is fabulous and the staff even better, they are always friendly and extremely helpful. Thank you all especially the chefs.

Excellent food, very attentive stuff. I asked for a white wine and soda and it took just a tiny bit longer than usual. Before mentioning it, the waitress looked at me and said “ I’ll chase up your drink”. I was amazed. The food was delicious, especially the rigatoni ragu and the calamari. Very worth trying

Visited for a light lunch late afternoon, we felt they may have been short staffed as a few things were forgotten but rectified when we asked again. (Placing the order and condiments) Caesar salad: chicken cooked lovely but more attention should have been paid to the lettuce leaves as there were a lot of brown leaves in it. Visited first time with friends...food arrived pretty much quick ...i ordered duck on sourdough bread as a starter..follow by gnocchi (mix meat) and lemon meringue cheesecake.... complements to the chef...very tasty and worth of money :) Will be defo coming back-great place for special occasion.

Had delicious lunch here today. Started with garlic tomato pizza bread which was perfect and then had a calzone pizza and steaming hot lasagne washed down with beer and diet coke. All absolutely delicious and very covid safe with sufficient measures in place.

We were looking forward to our meal at Villaggio Cucina and weren’t disappointed - we loved it. There is a great choice of menu from which we chose the garlic pizza breads, cod and sea bass whilst the grandkids chose various toppings to make up there own pizza - good fun too. The food was delicious and cooked to perfection. The evening was finished off with Yummy affogato desserts, ice creams and coffee. The staff were lovely and helpful and we felt well looked after. Looking forward to making a return visit.

My husband and I visited this restaurant we were both disappointed with the quality of the food. I ordered a bruschetta with tomatoes and it was only a small piece of bread covered in pesto and not many tomatoes. I then ordered the mushroom tart which was a little dry and the food itself didn't seem fresh. I've had this meal twice before and this was not up to the usual standard. My husband had the prawns with sauce to start and his bread was sat right in the middle of the sauce so it was very soggy. He had the cod with cabbage and pancetta for his main meal. Although he enjoyed the fish, the sauce lacked depth and flavour. We ended our meal with a creme brulee but the top was not caramelised properly and we sent this back.The customer service was good but overall we didn't feel our meal represented value for money.

Wow! In my opinion this is in with the top 3 Italian restaurants in North West England. Beautiful food with top quality ingredients. Staff where excellent and knowledgeable about the menu. Price was also perfect. A great place to eat and I recommend this everybody I meet. 5STAR!

Brilliant food, great service and the 'new' social niceties well observed .This was our 41st wedding anniversary and amazingly as we sat down 'our tune' got plaeyed over the sound system. Not at all planned or requested !

My wife booked here for the family as a treat. Checked with the General Manager who answered the phone, that they were taking part in the Eat out to help out scheme which he said they were, and also asked for a safe table as we were isolating for months and hadn't been out much since. He said he would put us in the conservatory, as only 4 tables in there and we would have 2 of them. We were surprised when we walked in to be given the first table by the door, people walking past us all lunchtime, hardly the safe table we asked for. Even more surprised when we were given the bill which was full price as they are not part of the 50% scheme! Although the food was good we could have eaten just as good food in other places in Birkdale, who were taking part in the scheme at half the price!

We had a great dinner at Villagio’s. Everything was great, the friendly welcome, efficient service, food quality, the ambiance.... there were all perfect. I’ll strongly recommend the Chicken liver, the haddock risotto & even pizza. We’ve enjoyed our night to the fullest and will certainly come back. Thanks for all the staff at Villagio.

Went 4th July first day after opening during COVID-19 - absolutely spot on with government guidelines and still made welcome and the food was outstanding - can’t wait to go back!

We have been dining here for years and yes the food is good but they have gone greedy . They have positioned a row of tables in the main walk way .... so you get knocked by staff backwards and forwards on the way to the kitchen ... or to the toilets or you can see every bodies bills as you are right next to the till . It was like dinning in a corridor noisy and cold very uncomfortable . We complaining three times and we’re finally moved . No specials offered had to ask for water salt pepper etc . Not a nice experience . We have loved dining here but it will be a while till we come back

Great restaurant in heart of Birkdale village offering wide variety of beautifully prepared and served dishes including pizza, pasta, meats and risotto. We had beautiful thin tomato garlic pizza bread to share,tuna meatballs and a special smoked salmon starter followed by pizzas, risotto, and Caesar salad. Desserts are amazing and we couldn’t resist and had choc mousse, lemon meringue cheesecake and sticky toffee pudding. All delicious and clean plates all round. It does get really busy so you’ll need to book especially at weekends.

Went to Birkdale for lunch. My wife had been to this place before but I hadn’t. Had a lovely lunch. Well cooked and prepared and nicely served. Will go again

I visited this place in March 2020 with a group of friends. We’d booked a large table but there would have been plenty of seating for smaller groups. Between the lot of us we ordered pretty much everything on the menu. It was all, without exception, superb. Service was friendly and attentive. The bill came to £92 for 9 of us, too, which I thought was excellent value.Highly recommended.

I love this place, as I’ve been going there regularly for the past few years! Become a local and know some of the staff... however the atmosphere feels a little sad in there the past 3 months and the service isn’t as good ...over the past 6-8 weeks I’ve been there 4 times and something has been forgotten, or we’ve been left waiting altogether, with no service at all- I’m not one to rush, or complain- but a little upset at the change in this lovely place... took my parents for the first time last night and I had already mentioned to one of the team at a prior visit, that things seemed different and we were left waiting or things forgotten every time and the same thing happened last night with my parents! We were left sitting there for 20 minutes and had to call staff over to take our order- felt forgotten about again... they changed though after this and seemed a bit more attentive and one of the team even expressed that the massive party of people they had in, had meant a small delay in our food coming out, but it was on its way and this was fine, appreciated this thought. Beautiful food indeed, as always, but I just feel sad that it feels like things are a little bit gloomy in there now and the service is very different. Would recommend, but I am worried about going in there now, due to ongoing issues with service and the atmosphere.

Whenever we are celebrating there is only one place we want to be eating and that is at Villagio Cuncina in Birkdale. The food is always excellent! I've eaten in many restaurants and had great meals but many do not have the consistency that comes with the Villagio Cuncina experience.All the staff are welcoming which adds to the atmosphere, they are all very helpful and talk through the specials. The wine selection has been put together with a lot of thought and the desserts are to die for. All I can say is that its been another great night and I'll be back soon!

Walked in and was welcomed by a lovely young blonde girl who was very attentive and sat us to our table. The building itself gave a really good vibe and the atmosphere was spot on we got one of the last tables in the place! (will defiantly be booking next time).I ordered the prawns for a starter and my wife ordered the livers and we both couldn't believe how good they were! My wife gave me a taste of her livers and they were absolutely to die for. Then our mains were equally as good I had the Gnooci and my wife had the chicken breast and there wasnt a single thing left on either of our plates. The same waitress from arrival really looked after us making sure everything was alright with both our starters and our main courses and we never had an empty glass! We were both stuffed but with how good the food had been so far we thought we couldnt go without trying a dessert. We shared the creme brulle and it was one of the best ive ever had in my life. This is now one of our favourite restaurants and we will be returning many times. Worth every penny.

Myself and my friend took our mothers for an early evening meal last Saturday in the trendy yet comfortable Villaggio Cucina. As we walked in we were greeted by lovely friendly staff who took all our coats for us. We were told the mouthwatering specials and served with our drinks straight away (this pleased our elderly mothers) We all ordered different starters from the walnut salty beef to the mushroom starter and of course we all tried each others and we were all equally delighted! Our mains came perfectly timed after the starter (I cant stand being left ages between each course) The waitresses were so lovely and contributed to the tasty mouthwatering food. We went all out and went for deserts to. We enjoyed are experience that much we have re booked again to take our mothers and I have booked to come with my partner. I am excited already at the thought of those pizzas and steaks!!!

Mixed feelings! Visited for the first time for my birthday on a Sunday evening. First impressions not great as on entering the waitress informed us to’ sit anywhere’ in a dismissive manner, so we kind of wandered around looking for a table for 3- no sort of welcome at all. Felt a bit weird and almost like we were unwanted. We avoided sitting near the drunk asleep man laying on the bench seat near the door(!) and sat down. There didn’t seem to be a manager in charge and the staff were mixed in their approach- 2 were pleasant, one threw out plates down so maybe some more training needs to go on here! I enjoyed what I ate, but my husband’s calzone pizza was dry and disappointing tbh-We thought overall the experience wasn’t special and was a bit overpriced for average Italian food, but it was the service and staff that left a bad taste in our mouths. If you are eating out you would like to make it a nice occasion- there is enough competition around Birkdale so unfortunately we won’t be returning.

Called in last week to book a table for half term nxt week for the extended family to have a long lunch together as we usually do at Villaggio and ended up staying for pizza and wine as couldn’t resist! We love coming here as the food is always top quality and the young ones are well catered for and the lovely staff make them very welcome which is not always the case elsewhere in the village, I always order the tuna meatballs which are amazing and the garlic breads are to die for, my hubby always tries the specials which he says never disappoint, can’t wait for the summer months when the front section opens up and you get to dine outside where the atmosphere is fantastic, bring it on!

Recently had our daughter’s birthday at Villaggio Cucina. Had a really great evening. Finished off with a homemade chocolate cake! We’ve never had a bad experience there. Food is varied with a nice choices on the specials board. My favourite pizza ‘El Tonno is still my favourite pizza EVER. Staff are without question some of the most attentive people. Went to Villagios for valentines meal it was an average meal with poor service. The table we were put on wobbled worse than bambi on ice. We were sat for 15mins with our empty plates to be cleared away even though the waitress was tidying away tables around us. When we finally got our emptying plates removed & requested the dessert menus.... we waited 20mins for it not to arrive. Gave up in the end, got the bill and left.

Hubble took me for a surprise meal here for Valentine’s Day & we both had a fabulous meal. Steak was beautifully cooked, Hubble had the belly pork which he said was cooked perfect with crispy skin, so tasty you definitely get what you pay for! Service was faultless as always despite it being very busy we were not rushed. We are never disappointed whenever we dine here whatever the occasion. I was well and truly spoiled with a wonderful meal and a night to remember. Thank you Villaggio Cucina we’ll be returning soon!

Whilst staying with friends we visited this great restaurant in the local village. The service was very good and the staff friendly. I had the fillet special which was cooked exactly to my request. I look forward to visiting you next time!

Myself, my daughter and partner love this restaurant. Nothing is ever too much even when the restaurant is busy the staff are absolutely wonderful, efficient, friendly and know their stuff!

Have been before on a weekend and it’s been quite nice, came for breakfast recently and I was shocked ! Found the whole place very basic and it was freezing cold !!!! Also they really need to do something about the entrance as when people come in and out the draft from the door is unacceptable . Food was fine but I need comfort to enjoy myself not just food .

I have been many times and loved it. Went last night, had lasagne, when it arrived it was very well done, the base was brown and welded to pan. Complained, to a young man, I was told this is just the way it’s cooked and I would have to wait 20-25 minutes for another. I ate the softer middle bits. Such a shame! Poor food and customer service.

What a fantastic night set meal of 5 courses but the same fabulous quality as always. Brilliant entertainment from the live band we danced all night. The team worked really hard to ensure a great time was had by everyone and prompt faultless service well done!

The most outstanding feature of the meal was the service - fast, friendly and attentive. The meal itself was good although we thought the steaks were expensive. The ‘chicken livers’ starter was very tasty which helped to change our review from OK to ‘good’

Went at 2pm on a very busy December 23rd with my niece and her 2 young children ( 6+3 ) and we all had a fantastic time, I had smoked haddock risotto with a poached egg, my niece had sea bream and the children had Bolognese, it was all perfectly cooked. Thank you.

I came with my wife and some friends and their baby for brunch. The service was good, they were helpful storing the pram out the way, as it's quite tight for space.

We’ve been in two of us and I have to say I’ve heard good things about this restaurant but my opinion it’s not worth it to go in there.

We pop in regularly for brunch sometimes with our 2 Labradors sitting outside or just the 2 of us sitting inside. The full English is very good, my wife normally has eggs Benedict’s with a side of crispy bacon. We can’t fault the food and drink, no the cheapest place but defo one of the better places in Southport/Birkdale

On vacation visiting family and came to this restaurant twice. The first time had Rissoto Funghi which was good. Service was good and everyone’s meal was good. Gets busy.

Excellent summer evening with friends, delicious food with fantastic friendly service. Have eaten here numerous times and never disappointed. As we arrived we were met by friendly well presented staff who gave us the option of sitting inside or outside. It was a breezy evening so we sat inside. We were immediately asked if we wanted to order drinks which we did and after we were advised of specials we were left in peace to decide what we would like to order to eat. We ordered our meals 2 of us had an excellent fish special which they adapted for us as we had special dietary needs. The others had excellent pasta dishes. As usual all delicious.

I came here with my friend for a brunch catch up. It was quiet when we arrived and as it was a hot day we sat near the door which had a nice breeze coming through. The staff were very attentive and pleasant throughout our visit. I had avocado with mushrooms on toast and my friend had the granola bowl, both came quickly, were presented well and tasted great. We ended up staying for a while so ordered a few tea cakes as well which were lovely. It got busier as we were there and when we left all the outside tables were full! I would like to come again perhaps for an evening meal as that menu looks good. The place is clean and the toilets were spacious and very clean. All in all a great visit.

Just popped in for coffee been here before sat inside and out. Decided to have a sharing meat board just beautiful. Everything you wanted and more all kinds of meat olives bread artichoke oil balsamic. All tasty.service was friendly and attentive. Would recommend for lunch and dinner.

Had one of the best evenings in a long time. Father’s Day family meal in the evening. Great atmosphere. Great service and one of the the best meals I can honestly say I personally have had in years. Sea bass special which I suggested should be on the main menu. Andy the chef once again excelled in the kitchen. Four very happy fed and watered customers. Thanks to Lorna and the team. Xx

We came here with the kids on Friday evening and everything we ate was amazing. I had the Caesar pizza which was incredible; my husband's fillet Rossini was cooked to perfection and the kids all loved their pizzas. If I was being really picky, I could have a tiny moan about the noise. The acoustics are a little off so it can be hard to hold a conversation with anyone but whoever is sitting right next to you. But that's by the by... I was too busy enjoying my food! We'll be back soon.

We pop in regularly for brunch sometimes with our 2 Labradors sitting outside or just the 2 of us sitting inside. The full English is very good, my wife normally has eggs Benedict’s with a side of crispy bacon. We can’t fault the food and drink, no the cheapest place but defo one of the better places in Southport/Birkdale
