Village Spice in Telford and Wrekin

Ordered tonight, took over an hour to arrive and was shocking, no salad with tikka starter and the tikka meat was black in the middle (this is not through a skewer) absolutely vile

Ordered 7.37pm rang about 15 times and was constantly engaged finally arrived about 9.30pm will never ever order from here again. Shocking services,shame really as the food was normally nice

poor service got a message saying ready to collect ,on arrival my friend was stood waiting for 10 to 15 minutes before someone even spoke to me then got told it would be 5 minutes waited round 20 to 30 minutes before asking for a refund then had to wait 20 minutes before she came out to us just to say we have to go through just eat knowing we wouldn’t be able to get our full refund back boss lady was rude we said we will have our food as losing out on a lot of money and she was refusing to make our order and also give us a refund

I placed an order through Just Eat @20:15 14/2/25. This was accepted immediately and a delivery time of 20:55-21:05 given. At 21:15 we went through Just Eat system to request a delivery update. This was responded to by the restaurant advising 21:55-22:10. At 22:15 I attempted to call the restaurant approximately 25 times in 30 minutes with the phone constantly being engaged. When I got through @22:45 I had my number taken and told ‘they would phone their drivers to see who had it and where it was’. I received no call back and no response on the phones. They have this morning refused a refund which I have contested through Just Eat as the food was never delivered. Unless you’re collecting, avoid at all costs.

⭐☆☆☆☆ Absolutely shocking service. Placed our order at 7:25 PM, got a call at 8:30 PM saying it would arrive no later than 9 PM—yet here we are at 9:50 PM, still no food and no update. Phone lines were engaged for half an hour, and now they’re completely dead. This isn’t the first time either; we gave them a second chance after a similar experience, and they’ve failed yet again. Never ordering from here again. Avoid at all costs.

Used to order from here regularly but stooped due to poor delivery times and small portions. Thought I'd give them another chance, ordered twice in the last week, portion sizes much better, tasty food, there are still issues with the delivery at times so as long as you are not in a rush it's fine! Will update this post pending future orders and delivery times! If they could sort the delivery issues this would hands down be the best takeaway in the region

4.30 for delivery at 6.30 as food is always late. Still turned up an hour late. Last time we will Order from here again.

I went to the hospital because of this takeaway food. This is my second time I order from this Takeaway both time I got nasty and old bad smelly food …Totally waste of money. When we ask for refund Owner of this TW Refuse and behave rudely. Not recommended at all.

Food is excellent but delivery is very poor,you need to sort out your delivery times ,I pre ordered for 7pm before opening and yet delwas still after 8pm not good

Delivery driver refused to deliver to my door claiming she was insured (1st floor apartment) more like she was too damn lazy to walk up the stairs. Left my food on the floor outside. Having OCD i will not eat food off the floor. I was disgusted by the overall attitude. Agreed to redeliver the food… as of yet no food has been redelivered! If I could give zero stars I would. Next morning update… as predicted no food was delivered to my address as promised. Will update later how it goes when I go to the restaurant for my money back tonight.

After 1 and a half hours of waiting we rang and was told that it had left with the delivery driver 20 minutes prior (we live not even 5 minutes from the restaurant) so we then wait a further 20-30 minutes and ring again to now be told that it is still in the kitchen and that they are waiting on a driver which could take 15-20 minutes. ended by cancelling the order and asking for a refund witch they was very argumentative about doing so, an overall joke if you ask me. If you can't handle the influx of order then don't have 5 different way of people getting food from yourself. Not happy

Absolutely Outstanding – Best Takeaway I’ve Had! I recently had the pleasure of visiting this takeaway to help resolve a small issue with their gas supply- I am a commercial gas engineer in Telford. Having been into countless commercial kitchens as part of my job, I’m always cautious about what I might see behind the scenes - I’ve seen dozens of commercial kitchens where i’ve asked them to clean surfaces/flooring/appliances before I begin work. However, I was genuinely impressed by how spotless and hygienic their kitchen was at Village Spice take-away. Everything was immaculate, and as I worked I could see fresh ingredients being prepared for that evening’s service—it was clear this team takes pride in their standards. The owners of this take-away are clearly passionate about hygiene and it really does show behind the scenes. When it came time to bill them, I made an unusual decision: instead of charging the full amount, I accepted part payment in the form of a takeaway for my family - we rarely get a take-away as I have this mini-phobia or them, having seen so many food prep areas that simply aren’t up to my standards. This part-payment is something I’ve never done before. But this kitchen was exceptional—it gave me complete peace of mind knowing the food was being prepared in such a clean environment and managed by owners who clearly deliver a good product. Anyway… We’ve just enjoyed our meal, and I have to say, it’s probably the best takeaway I’ve had in many years. Everything was incredibly fresh, full of flavour and absolutely delicious. I can’t think of another takeaway that comes close to this level of quality in Telford. I would highly recommend this place to anyone—it’s clear they care about their food and their customers. This will now be my go-to takeaway, and I’ll definitely be back. Five stars all the way!

Ordered at 19.40 and initially told on the website 40/60 minutes delivery time. On placing the order and paying I was given an 80 minutes delivery time. It also said I would be updated via sms on delivery. Neither happened after 2 hours I had to call them for an update. When the food arrived it was cold and had to be heated up. I will say it was very nice but to late for us to eat really.

A real hidden gem! The food is delicious, and well worth a try.. I’m shocked about the ratings but the service can be a little slow as it’s so busy for such a small place. Don’t let that put you off trying this place, it’s well worth the wait. Highly recommend the village special naan!

As review below, food didn’t show up. Waited outside in freezing cold as app said it was on way. Phoned takeaway and was assured she’d phone back with up date. No phone call. AVOID AT ALL COSTS !!!! Ordered foor at 6.45pm , called them at 8..05 was told PROMISE will be there in 10 minutes I have called the driver. Another hour later and 124 attempted calls later still no food. Decoded to go fetch ot myself. Was already a customer in the shop who also was collecting his food due to a non delivery service Said to the woman I spoke to you , and you promised food was on way yet it was sitting on a bench along with numerous deliveries that were just sat there. The man in the shop was still taking orders yet couldn't meet the delivery requests they already have Whilst woman sorting out my food 2 more very unhappy customers were told to give it another 30 minutes. Got all the way home and missing items 1st time using this place and def my last

Ordered a take away from here at roughly 6:30 today. Was unable to get through to speak to someone until 8 o’clock to get an update on where food was. Was told it would be with us soon. 8:30 rang back and told it was on way, 9 o’clock no food, called back and told food on way. It is now past 10 pm and almost going on 4 hours since the order was placed and no sign of the food arriving. Even with multiple phone calls, told the same thing each time. It takes 10 minutes to drive from the take away to my house. Terrible service with no concern/apology!

Recently had the balti special, nothing special about it at all, very salty which is strange for a Indian curry, and gave me the runs for the next 24hrs, wont be using again.

Order from here every 2/3 weeks, that should say it all really. The chef was even kind enough to make us a dish off menu (saag dahl) when requested.

Absolutely horrific. Ordered at 7.30 turned up at 10.10. Phoned 3 times to be told they would contact the driver but they never called us back. Promised 2 separate delivery times but was complete and utter lies. Kids ended up having jam on toast and going to bed. Chips were rock hard and cold. Ordered spring onion rice. Was literally boil in the bag rice with a few onions thrown in. No seasoning and bland as anything. The naan was cold, poppadoms smashed to smithereens. The curries were ok but we were starving and desperate at this point and probably would have eaten anything. Do not order delivery from here. Service and food are a disgrace.

Thought we would try a different takeaway place than our usual spending over £40 with the discount. Just unedible ended up in the bin. I waited a day to see if I would have a bad stomach. Did leave a complaint and was called back and was offered more food, but when the first lot was as bad as it was there was no way i was going to try again. Also had a plain naan, this looked like , shape size consistency of something that you would have from tesco again this was pointed out, neither confirmed or denied. Such a waste of money. I will stay with cardomem kitchen in future, awful!

Authentic place for food. Love this place. This place is amazing. Magical spoon of the chef does the job. I wouldn't go anywhere without this place. Could be late sometimes when ordering but it's worth the wait.

Worst indian food ever also staff were very rude Never ever going back again

I ordered using the efficient online portal. The order was placed at 5.15pm for an 8.00pm delivery. At 8.30, we rang the restaurant to ask if the order was on the way. There was some discussion in the background and we were told that it had left at 8.15. It finally arrived at 8.45pm with the delivery driver seemingly unaware that it was late and she told me that they had come via a delivery in Newport. We rang the restaurant again, asking for a refund of the £6.50 delivery charge. We were advised that they couldn’t do this as the payment had been taken by Bookyup. They did offer to deliver some extra food to cover the delivery charge but as we had now eaten, this was not useful. I emailed Bookyup asking for the refund. They emailed back to advise that they had contacted the restaurant and ‘tried to convince them to refund but they strongly disagreed for the refund’. I’m usually very flexible with delivery times and if it has been delivered by 8.30 I wouldn’t have had any issue. I think asking for the delivery charge to be refunded for a 45 minute delay is fair and reasonable and for this to be something they strongly disagree with says an awful lot about their service. The food was actually very good but I won’t be using them again due to the poor service and their refusal to offer any redress on the delivery charge.

They were absolutely lovely, very kind food was great and they even gave us a free dish! Highly recommend!

I’ve seen previous reviews but they delivered earlier then given time to me so I’m very happy with the service also the food is great would definitely recommend and by the seems of things they’ve listened to the prior complains and have made big improvements very pleased thankyou village spice delivery and your chefs!

I would not normally put a negative review but enough is enough of waiting over 2 hrs on numerous occasions, which I think I’m entitled to complain only to have the phone put down on me this time how nice…. Oh so it’s ok to say it’s on its way when it’s not then etc etc. Great food but that’s it for me I’m afraid.

2 hours 40 minutes for delivery

Regular here and I love the food. Tonight was absolutely shameful for service and after the lies tonight I'm not sure i can go back here. We called at 18:06 and ordered, we were quoted for 40 minutes. We called at 19:08 and they said it was with the driver, and to wait 10-15. We called again at 19:33 and they then said to wait another 10 mins. I then called at 18:50, asked if they could contact the driver to see if everything was okay. They said they would, and if not to call them back. I called back in 10 minutes and they hadn't even contacted the driver. Not only this lie, but on the call they said that the driver had only just left with the order. So we were given moving goalposts on expectations, and told two lies when we called. The food is lovely but the service destroyed any trust. Please give your customers proper expectations for time, no one would mind if you're busy but just tell them when they order. Also don't lie to your customers, it's horrible form. All recorded.

Abysmal took over 2 hours to deliver was told could reorder free next time. Tried order again to be told had to reorder within 2 weeks! Avoid

The first time we used Village Spice it took 1.5 hours and there was a curry missing so we had to wait another 30 mins. We didn’t use them for ages after being put off - gave them the benefit of the doubt tonight, and it’s been just under 2 hours and we’re still waiting. Disgraceful - don’t take the orders if you’re that busy. Hope our food doesn’t arrive cold.

Best Chicken and Mushroom Balti for years.! The Chicken was perfectly cooked and the sauce was absolutely spot on, this level of quality takes skill and know how, the chef and his team a credit to their art. Home delivery was on time and food was still piping hot.

Worst curry ever avoid as genuine health risk. Environmental health informed and samples sent for checks. Ignorant refused refund. Just eat helped but these people just refused point blank. Genuinely angry and upset.

The worst delivery experience ever had. 2 hours waiting for the food. Called the restaurant 3 times, no answer on the ETA, bad telephone manner and attitude. The excuse for late delivery was it’s Ramadan. But the restaurant had already been reviewed with late delivery in the past. To be honest, if you’re busy and not able to deliver the food within the given time, it’d better not to take the order at all.

Infuriating service, poor food. Waited 1hr50mins having been told 60mins, then food arrived cold, one item missing and one item incorrect. They refused to replace the order when I explained that it was already late and cold and by the time they had rectified the items it would be ruined. They offered a free starter on my NEXT order (the cheek!) and no suggestion of refund, I settled with collection of the missing items because I was hungry and wanted to eat. The woman on the phone told me that she had explained to the owner/kitchen that I was a regular customer and what had happened, but they refused to offer anything further. When I arrived, the place looked dirty and run down, and whoever it was that the lady on the desk had been speaking to would not come out and speak to me. 2hrs30mins after ordering, we finally had our order and after heating it in the microwave we found that the aloo gobi side dish was rancid/off, and the prawn starter was inedible and covered in cheap mayonnaise!?! Have used this takeaway many times as the food has been good in the past, so we’re very disappointed that it was such a terrible experience. Unlikely to order again.

Most disgusting place ever. Fresh food is stored in a garage to the rear with no pest control measures. Delivery driver pretty much throws the food at your door as he is far too busy impressing people with the ability to wheelspin his car. Outer packaging stinks of cigarettes. Inside the packaging was rice and slush. Little bits of meat and a burned warmed up pre made naan.

Absolutely disgusting wait , ordered at 5.30pm to be given a time of no later than 6.50pm arrived at 8pm. Rang 3 times to find out what had happened to be told each time its left 15 minutes ago , then I was told the driver had to take 4 orders as they were busy. My advice if you are that busy STOP taking orders. I will end on a positive , food was well cooked and the portion sizes were ample.

And when I told them they said the next meal was on them untill I rang and they had no clue and when I was ok to order they said I had to collect! I don't drive. Then telling me I can have delivery but then no one can. Such a shame will not be using again

Just had a tikka delivered with 5 small pieces of chicken. My meal is literally rice and sauce. Absolute joke! Im not going back and ill make sure everybody i know doesnt as well. Just started eating it and it tastes like no tikka ive ever had. Disguisting! 0/10

Usually special village spice biryani is nice. Today it was extremely salty. So much so that we couldn't eat it! Such a shame as usually food is OK!

Have to say cannot complain at all with order it came in 47minutes which was good, delivery driver too was brilliant, now food where do I start, the starter omg spice and tasty, the curry spot on full of flavour and meet, came with nan breads definitely will be going here more of often, peppers needs to take note with flavours these guys do, truly impressed, will be ordering for the family soon so they can share this experience Thank you for a brilliant meal
