2 hour wait and I got wilted lettuce

Just had a delivery.. Pizza and kebab meal were all very nice... Delivered on time

An hour and 55 minutes for 4 meals. I phoned up after an hour n 15 mins they said they just sorted my order n waiting for the driver. Another half n hour n still no food so that means my food was sitting waiting for half n hour before it’s even got to me!! Safe to say it was stone cold!! Will never order from them again!!

Now tried a second time, not great and oh my days, everyone has been up since 6am and both bathrooms have been absolutely battered. Sat here reviewing and debating if I need shares in Andrex. If we make it through till Monday I'll report to environmental health!

Terrible , overcooked fish , loads of chips with black bits in them and tasted as if oil had been used too many times ! Personally I wouldn’t use again !

I live in village and have to say this chippy has never impressed me but last after last night I’ve finally decided to leave a review. The service was slow as always, the organisation is awful. Last night had to take food back, chicken burger was worst ever tasted anywhere and I’ve had my fair shared. The chips has mayonnaise on them. I called to give feedback and with encouragement they agreed to replace them. I took them both back so they could take a look. This morning I’ve got the runs from hell, sorry to be crude but that’s the truth. I won’t eat here ever again under this ownership. Instead I’ll use the tried and tested Poppin on Limes Road.

If you want fish and chips in the evening order in the morning probably The most unorganised business I have ordered from just avoid it

Food ok, chips very oily and some hard. Waited 20 mins in a queue for pre ordered food that was sat there the whole time but attemps to speak to staff prior to this fell flat. Also after waiting 20 mins with only 3 people in front of me I was then short changed.

Purchased chicken gougobs yesterday. Cooked to order when I got home they were overcooked and inedible. Could not get a knife through them. Disgusted

I’ve just tried this shop for first time since it’s reopening…. What a mistake ! Simply the worst chips I’ve ever had in my life. Cold & hard just awful, won’t be returning…shame

Peas and curry sauce, we ordered large and the came in large pots but less than half full was less than you normally get in a small tub, food was also cold, very disappointing

Nice, clean shop with freindly staff. Food was OK though the battered chips were a bit soggy and the fish slightly overdone. The chicken was pretty good. Good sized portions. Do try the spicy curry sauce. Overall pretty good.

Food is stale and over cooked, pizza sauce taste sour made my kids sick. Took food back and was told to speak to uber as it not their fault , but they cooked the rubbish food . Stay away and don't waste you hard earned money here. Say alot when a chip is dead on a Friday at 630pm

Hi i ordered a meal and the chips were cold and hard when i complained they were saying that i van have a refund or a meal replacement they were meant to call me then did not but i called them they did not refund me nor send me a replacment meal

Take away service and delivery. Chicken and chips and burger ordered. Arrived in time stated but was cool. The chicken was overcooked and the burger was spongy and bland. They need to up their game

mini fish special was shocking size

worst fish and chips with watered down mushy peas. burger was pink inside and we asked for no tomatoes in salad but tomatoes were put on so good job not allergic to them. avoid using this disgrace of a chip shop.

Used to be my favourite chippy tonight tho I'm disgusted the food all went in the bin the chicken was old over cooked and greasy the kebab burger had a funky smell and taste to it and missing a sausage £20 down the drain never again the pictures I have are shocking won't let me post them

Ordered online last night only for them to get my order wrong and when i called back no answer. Zero customer care and service. Quick to take your money though.

Ok so the other day, I go in and ask for a SMALL chips they said battered or regular (not battered) so I said regular as in SMALL chips with no batter. look at the recite and the igits charged me for REGULAR I'm annoyed because money doesn't grow on trees and they knew what they were doing because it's not the first time they've done stuff like that. Oh and on top of that the waiting time takes ages but that's probably because while your waiting for your "small" chips they're actually making regular which takes longer. Absolute r*tards and I hope they see this🖕🖕🖕

Very reasonable pricing compared to others, depending what you have can be a 1/3 cheaper.

AVOID! Placed a telephone order and paid over the phone like they asked. Collected our order, missed the fish, nuggets and sauces. Rang them to tell them, they first of all ignored my call 3 times (called on the same number I placed the order on), then tried ringing them on another number - surprise surprise they answered. Told them what had happened - they said they can get it to us but they will have to charge us for it? Because the lady who originally took our order didn’t hear the order correctly? Really bad customer service and food quality actually. Birches bridge Codsall is way better!

Wouldnt know customer service if it smacked them in the face!! My freind ordered battered chips they said they take 10 mins so I was expecting her to serve me at the same time as my friend as we walked in together when I asked her if she could serve me as we wanted the food together an i also wanted battered chips so would have to wait another 10 minutes she said one minute I was still waiting ages for her to serve me so I ended up walking out the shop, should be disgusted with her customer service!!!

Not bad, quite a competitive area in terms of local chippies but it can hold its own. The family likes it, especially the chicken meat. I marked it down a star as I feel the price is steep for the portion - but will go again.

Terrible customer service skills, always having to wait long periods for your order and when you finally receive your order its wrong. If it was like any other chip shop where you can see them doing your order the issue wouldn't have happened. Won't ever go there again

Great battered sausage and great battered chips

Can't Fault this Chipshop. They do fantastic Boxed meal choices We normally go for the Pie Boxes which is a Pie of Choice with either Battered Chips or normal chips. I have the Battered Chips as They are my Favourite, Partner Likes the Normal Chips with a Hot Sauce of Choice which they put in a pot as not everyone likes it all over their Chips (Me especially as I like to dip my Chips rather then have them smothered). Our Food is always Delivered Hot and Fresh sometimes things are forgotten due to human error but if one rings up normally they will send item out ASAP or put it in on the next order. You can either phone in your order or do it online and pay by Card or pay cash on delivery. All in All We Wouldn't go elsewhere as no other chipshop as ever better Village Plaices standards in my Eyes so Big Thank-You to all the Staff from Me, Partner and the Hounds always Love their Sausage too. Its not overly expensive the prices are what one would expect to pay at any chipshop

The food was quick but inedible absolutely drenched in salt plus can't get in touch with the restaurant to complain disaster order I actually feel really ill because of how much salt I ate in those couple of bites

Ordered food for delivery. Everything had so much salt on it was practically inedible and most of it went in the bin. Won't be ordering from them again.

Decided today to have something different so ordered fish and chips. When my son got home with it I was very disappointed to make the fish look large they have made it slightly longer but cut right back on the width it was very thin. The chips were inedible they tasted like they had been reheated then left to stand and were cold. The only nice thing about this meal was the gravy.

Have a delivery every friday and even though had to wait a bit longer this week staff are always friendly and food was lovely as usual😁

Disappointed ordered online and part of the order not there so half of us went without food on a Friday night as when phoned would take another hour to come. Won’t be using village place again.

Lovely chip shop, everything freshly prepared.

We have used this place often, but the last couple of times haven't been great. The one was an on-line order which was two fish and chips which was a little like left overs, the more recent was a personal visit and it was busy both in the shop and with phone and on-line orders so i had a bit of a wait but no big deal, but whatever the fish was cooked in needed changing, not a good taste, old and a little burnt. Maybe a victim of its own success but we'll give it a miss next time

I had a Cod and Chips takeaway x 2 for me and my wife yesterday evening The fish, it batter, the chips were all non greasy, tasted excellent, the large fish was ver big too, a very generous proportion. I cannot highly recommend the Village Plaice in Tettenhall, this is really is the best Fish n Chips I have ever tasted, and believe me we have had a few around Wolverhampton. Weldone The Village Plaice. I don't normally do reviews but felt strongly enough to submit this one.

This place as a poor delivery service. If you need your food on time …..think again. You phone them and so rude and no customer service skills what so ever. Total shambles ….shame as food not bad. Don’t offer what you can’t deliver!!

I've been using this chippy for a couple of years. Food is usually top notch, a few times they've slipped from five star to three, but far more consistent than many other chippies I've tried. Reasonably priced as well, especially the smaller offerings. I also like the plain chips on offer as I don't like the battered ones.

A hidden gem, fantastic fresh food, fish fresh and flakey, battered and plain chips fresh hot and tasty. I had a chargrilled beef burger, proper burger chunky and flavoursome. Polite and attentive staff. Keep up the good work . Highly recommended and will defo being going back.

Disgusting food. There is no passion in the food they are selling. Customer service is like talking to a brick wall. Just drive the extra 1mile Newbridge chippy.

Food quality is passable .delivery times are awefull .never on time always late even when hou have ordered early and always lots of excuses or the delivery driver is just leaving .. very poor customer service .i donot recomend using these .

I don’t normally write negative reviews, but after such a poor and disappointing quality of food I had too. Chips were mixed with old and new to hide the poor standard. The chicken in Naan was so big but discovered it was all salad smothered in sauce , the chicken was cold and tasteless. The Naan was thick and fluffy and had to be thrown away as it was soggy mess. My friends Roe was small and burnt …. Sorry …. I so wanted this place to be good!

Walked in on a Saturday evening fairly late so chip shop was nice and quiet. We have eaten food once from here before and found it lacking but thought we'd pop in as we were passing and hungry. Made a small order (2 items individually wrapped) and waited in the shop in person. Lady serving me behind the counter had long false nails on which as we all know are a breeding ground for bacteria, and then proceeded to cough into her hands while wrapping up my order in the paper. As me and husband watched on a young gentleman then walked through from the back and was quite obviously messing with his nose in the food / serving area. It was like a food hygiene nightmare. We paid for our food and walked outside and threw it in the bin. Will never go in this shop again - watching the staff serve us made us feel sick.

Food was great but they missed the salad off our keebabs. But all in all would definitely use again.

Oh my goodness, i didnt really like plain chips before just liked the battered ones, i was so hungry I thought id give them a try an wow they were just amazing. You must try this place. Fresh and tasty chippy. I highly reccomend.

They dont do bettered chips on a Friday If you order them any other day you will get them with a 10 minute wait But Friday you still wait 10 minutes but cant have them battered And they're not the best without batter

As a ‘Thank You’, my sister treated me to fish and chips last night and decided to support a local business by ordering from ‘Village Plaice’, only a few minutes away from her home. She ordered online with a pick-up time of 5.45pm. I arrived a few minutes early and the order was ready and well packaged – a good start. However, on opening the box at home, the chips were very pale in colour and soggy – unattractive in appearance and unappetising to eat. On the other hand, the batter was extremely crispy, making it difficult to cut and the fish was dry. Both meals were only luke-warm (the journey between the shop and my sister’s house only takes a few minutes). Unfortunately, this will be the first and last time that we will be supporting this particular local business.

Over 30 mins late and no apologies. Blaming not enough drivers!? Not good enough. Used to be really good but not worth It anymore

Rubbish staff . I wasted my money . I ordered 1 cheeseburger with battered chips and 1 portion of chips with salt and vinegar. Kept me waiting. Kids were hungry in car. But both chips were without salt and vinegar. And cold . Very unprofessional and non cooperative behavior. Owner needs to keep an eye

Place order at 5pm asking for delivery at 8:30. Rang at 8:43 asking where it was and was told they where waiting for a driver...so eg food hadn't even left!! No call to say it was running so late... Long term customer will not be using again. A lot of recent reviews are saying the same thing

Very quick to take your money. However, very slow to refund for an order that failed to materialise. They blame the 'alternative ordering company' for taking your money!! Maybe Village Plaice should review their practice if they want good reviews. So, I shall not be ordering. After being left out of pocket while they debate who to blame I would advise future customers to think carefully before ordering!

I ordered food at 19:57 my food arrived at 21:33 and after 1 hour of waiting I rang and asked how long my food would be. They were rude and said on a weekend it can take up to 2 hours for food. If that is the case they should've told me I could be waiting 2 hours. As from a chip shop you wouldnt expect 1 hour and 45 mins for it to arrive. Then for the food to arrive the burger was burnt and black and hardly no cheese on it and it was warm and not hot.wont be going they're again.

Called just to let them know but apparent ‘manager’ could not care less. Waited nearly 2hours for food to be delivered. Ordered at 5pm didn't come till 6.55pm. Phoned twice first time staff lied to me second time they told me it would be 10mins it took another 20mins before our food arrived The manager did tell me to ring if food wasn't hot but to be honest I'd had enough buy the time our food arrived it was only slightly warm the driver had put cold drinks in the same bag as hot food. Unfortunately after months of using this chip shop we won't be returning. My advice don't use the delivery service it doesn't come on time this isn't the first time its happened but it is longest I've had to wait.

Waited an hour for it to come, then when it did come it was the wrong delivery! Called them and was told they were going to call the driver, so they will call me back waited 20 mins for a call back to not get one so rang them to find out they were closed!! Very disappointed and never ordering from them again! And will be calling when they are open!!!

Realy not pleased with service waited 20 mins for my order. Staff we're more concerned with phone orders than shop orders. Once I got home my husbands mushy peas we're watery and unedible and my cheese and onion pasty was half cold ( not thoroughly cooked) in all waste if time and money.

The customer service is awful when you order for delivery. I order for delivery at specific times and either its too early and too late! I will be finding a different Friday night take away!

Batter on fish undercooked. Hard on outside and uncooked underneath. Battered chips are a mixture of 50% fresh chips and 50% precooked chips that have been over fried to the point of there being no potato inside the batter crust. But they were on time, 50% inedible but on time. Although we have ordered from them before there has been something to throw in the bin each time. I have given them enough chances now and will not be going back.

Best avoided. I've been three times now as I did want it to succeed / improve. Food is cold, battered chips are hard, kebabs must have a month's worth of salt, mushy peas taste of something you don't expect. It's freezing inside, very often literally...

What can I say about the village plaice 1st friendly service and excellent quality traditional fish and chips also available mixed chicken kebab meats very tasty and value for money. So I've given 5 stars for overall taste quality satisfaction clean environment and the main reason friendly customer service.
