Worst chip shop in Leicester! Very expensive, small portions of chips, and mouldy food. Do not go there the place needs shutting down.

Food is horrendous not fresh at all , kebab is rubbery and chicken kebab is frozen then cooked on the grill and then asked which sauce we would like my husband said he would like mayonnaise and the lady said no you don't have that on kebab and said you have garlic sauce which was quite annoying. The lady herself was very nice but didn't stick to the main rule the customer is always right especially when they will be eating the food. All together very poor food so went into the bin and ordered tjs from across the street 😢

Food is good, cooked fresh. Fish and Masala Fish are yum! Happy to wait a little knowing I have my food cooked in front of me.

Food is never ready when you go in, chips raw and salad way past sell by date. Old lady in there is rude, guy who looks like a drug dealer is always arguing with her and seems drunk. Avoid like the plague!

The worst fish and chips I’ve ever had!!!!! The batter on the fish was undercooked and soaked in oil and the fish was tasteless.The chips pale and tasted of oil from the fish. Very disappointed they went straight in the bin!!!

Just been to the chip shop for the first and definitely the last time. Large chips were a small . 2 sausages, one was freshly cooked but the 2nd was cooked earlier and was dry and curled up(how can a sausage curl up)? Fish cakes were ok but cold and the curry sauce was cold and had more lumps than sauce. The chips were wrapped in one piece of paper that disintegrated on taking them out of the bag as the food was swimming in oil. Service was very slow, employees need to learn manners and how to smile.For £21.00 it just wasn’t worth it, stay away from here.

Nipped in at lunch as I was working in the village I had regular chips curry sauce and a can of pop and it was £6.40 the chips were smaller than a tray and the so called Indian curry sauce was disgusting just sweet dnt bother with this place absolutely terrible

Ordered a large chips, buttered cob, curry sauce and a bottle of pop £8 but got bk and chip we're under cooked and hard

Very poor chip s curry sauce fish cake can of rubicon pop £16.20 could have gone pub over road cedars and had 2 steaks and bottle of wine £22.00 as for the owner saying there in top 10 chip shops in Leicester I Dont think so

Lovely family run chippy. Very polite and helpful staff. The fish was massive and so nice. No complaints at all. Great menu, great place.

Got a large mixed kebab As soon as i got home and opened it I could smell it was off i had a taste and it deffo tasted off too Waste or a tenner had to throw the lot away Naan was so thick and dry too Fumingg! Imagine happily serving off meat to your customers Will never go back for sure

I ordered a large amount of fish and chips and the employee who I was talking to stated a price for this. When I went into the shop to collect my order, they stated a higher price. I asked them what the reason for this was and they gave a rude reply. I tried to speak calmly with her and she didn't even apologies. This business has a lack of communication and a terrible customer service.

Friendly staff and really tasty fresh fish and chips, enough to share between two of us. Wish I had taken a photo of it.

It was clean, person who served me was excellent but I found the potion small compare to other places I have been to.

Really gone downhill ,the fish was coverd in grease ,the portion of chips was small ,and the peas were like water with hardly any peas in there at all ,absolutely rubbish .

I don't like leaving negative reviews but felt the need to write one today. Ordered online on their website but the owner said the prices have gone up and the prices haven't been updated so wanted to charge me like £5 more. I said that's not my problem! She needs to sort that out with her website company and not offer the online service. She continued to go on about the prices etc... we ended up settling in between as I had guests waiting at home, but any other day I would have walked away!! Got the food home, fish and chips didn't taste as nice as Gipsy Lane Chippy... I hope the owner sorts the website issues out and takes the feedback on board. Instead of arguing with the customer, just work with them and sort your internal issues out afterwards.

A great family run business and the lady is so kind, I wish them nothing but success. Just had fish and chips from here and it was amazing, just as good as in Sheringham where I usually go. Underrated!

I got regular chips curry sauce and donor in nann, the curry was cold, the portion of chips where small like a cone and the kebab was shocking £7 for that! Lettuce looked like it was going 2 run off 🤣🤣 the middle bit of a tomato shocking

Great family run chippy, always fresh, good portions. Masala fish is a great alternative to regular battered fish, worth a try.

Tried out this place for the first time today, was lovely and clean inside and food was cooked fresh on demand. Food was tasty too and not greasy. Will definitely come back again!

Had a business meet nearby, stopped off impromptu. Only had chips... But they were utterly delicious. I might even say the best chips I've had.

Expensive and not up to scratch.

This place is great. It offers a wide menu (including curries) and you can even phone ahead with your order. The chips are to die for! Prices are very reasonable and the staff are lovely.

Not up to scratch. A fairly long wait for freshly cooked chips being the only one in store. Still they weren't all cooked and my wait was excruciating. The woman owner was happy to look at me as I wait without any positive body language or small talk. A large chips is not really large for £3, which counteracts them being cheaper than other places in Leicester (and generally expensive prices all round).

May need to wait a little for fresh Chips, but it worth the wait. Been going here for years. Sad to see the passing of their Father, but I would definitely recommend going and getting yourself some fish and chips on Fridays.

Husband went to get a portion of chips, the lady serving dropped half of the fish on the floor and so said she would fry another one. It already takes them ages to do anything in this chippy and given the fact hubby could see the chips were already twice fried, he opted for their second solution of only being charged for a small fish. Can’t believe they charged for broken fish and old chips. Every time we have been here, the service is slow and the chip portion is meagre compared to all other chippies in vicinity. Not worth buying from here.

This is an honest review. The male owner of this business always seems to be having a bad day. I’m a professional person and they both make me feel patronised, look down on and make you feel like you don’t want to be there. It’s just not worth the hassle for food. Everyone I know says the same. Go and see for yourselves if you don’t believe me.

stupid old woman took half an hour to fry chips, they were still uncooked. I told her they were uncooked she just looked at me with a blank look on her face. then some big nose baldy come up and start asking what's the problem. mate stick your nose out of it. the girl who works there, don't trust her. she has hiv and shouldn't be handling food. It's ok decor needs updating but some women takes long when getting the chips ready. I don't know if she knows English? I waited 30 mins one day. She just stares at the customers with a gormless expression. U should fire her. Tasty kebab though.

The best fish and chips in Leicester. Fish is freshly cooked, crispy not greasy, and the fluffiest golden chips are gorgeous.

The food here is beautiful especially the Masala Fish and the curry sauce!

This has to be the worst fish and chips. The chips were awful and quite clearly the fish and chips were cooked in oil which should have been changed yonks ago. Really rancid taste to the fish and chips went straight to the bin. In outside bin the smell was so bad I had to use a public dustbin! It is a real shame as the two women who work their are so nice and friendly, but the food sucks!

We love going to the village fish bar. We usually go on a Friday or the weekend for our usual but recently the staff have got us eating the tandoori fish. My husband doesn't usually eat fish but he loves this. Everyone is so friendly and the food is top quality. We highly recommend you go because you'll love it.
