Village Delights in South Tyneside

Visiting Village Delights is often a highlight of my week. The staff are all friendly, hilarious and talented in the kitchen. The coffee is strong and smooth. the sandwiches are proper double handed stotties and the sweet treats are home made with proper chocolate so are delicious. If you've not been please visit, as you won't be disappointed!

I would leave ten stars if I could. The food is delicious and always fresh. The staff are cheerful and it’s always a pleasure.

A quaint small cafe with extremely friendly staff - I was at a loose end waiting for a car repair next door when I came in for lunch. The All English came quick with toast and a pot of tea and it was top notch. Well cooked and hot. Can't fault it in any way + the sell magnificent scones to take out too all reasonably priced

Village Delights is a lovely little cafe in Harton Village. It serves meals, cakes, pastries, afternoon teas and others. Parking may be a problem as it is limited. We popped in for coffee, scone and a blondie cake. Staff excellent and place spotless.

A lovely, family-friendly cafe that always makes us feel welcome! In the heart of Harton Village, this little gem of a cafe has became a firm favourite of ours. The breakfasts are absolutely gorgeous; the cakes and sweet treats are out of this world and the staff…! They’re so friendly and helpful and always make our visits a pleasure. I usually drop in for a breakfast with my husband through the week, but last time I went, I was going for a half-term treat with my little boy. It was his first time there and he tucked in to an all day breakfast and a banana milkshake (which he swears was the best he’s ever tasted and that’s no slight compliment: my boy knows his milkshakes! 😂) He even treat himself and his sister to a takeaway brownie to eat later, at home. We’ll be back again soon!

Thank you so much for providing the buffet food. for our recent reception after a funeral. The food was delivered to the venue and looked amazing when we arrived. The guests were really complimentary about the buffet. It was delicious..

Good friendly place excellent selections

My friend and I had the festive afternoon high tea and omg it was absolutely amazing. The sandwiches, crisps, salad, hot pig in blankets, scones with jam n cream, jelly Deserts fantastic amount of cakes. As much tea and coffee you can drink in the most beautiful china. Crackers to pull. Just the best afternoon we could ever have. I cannot thank you enough for making my surprise Xmas gift for my friend the best ever. You are amazing staff who service beautiful fresh food with the best customer service ever. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟5 stars from us. Thank you so much for making our afternoon so precious and memorable. 👌❤️

Been here a couple of times for breakfast. Nice staff and lovely food.

Well what can I say? Everything was spot on from the moment I walked through the door. Everything was immaculately clean and the service was second to none! Lindsay and Beth were fabulous and the food was top notch. Highly recommend the full English and Lindsay’s buns were lush (no pun intended). I shall return - sooner rather than later. Very reasonably priced too!

Lovely little cafe. Lots of choice for eat in or take away. Plenty tables. Parking directly outside. We had scrambled egg & toast and a full breakfast. Really tasty. Very large portion. Great value for money. Nice ambience. Lovely little team serving. Beth the lady running it was very professional and full of knowledge. Turns out she also does outside catering for events. Which I will definitely look in to with her. Even brought some cakes home with us. Totally enjoyable trip out to a great little place which we definitely will be back

My friend told me about this hidden gem of a place. Beth who runs this place is spot on. I booked an event with her to carry out the catering of 55 covers for a function in Tyne mouth. Really impressed with her ideas and creativity. Checked out her brunch items and cake to go. Really indulgent. Will be back for more brunch and definitely more catering event bookings. My friend has used her a few times for outside catering and she does not disappoint. So thought I’d give her a try.

Cosy cafe. Good range of food. Cakes, scones, breakfasts, lunches. Choice of teas, other drinks. Friendly staff. Best to book tho not nessesary.

Lovely place to have coffee and enjoy a bacon sandwich or a home scone (or anything else on the menu). Very friendly and accommodating owners and staff. We go there regularly :-)

One of our favourite places to pop in for a cuppa, cake or breakfast. Staff made us feel welcome from our first visit and really look after their customers. The food is always delicious and very reasonably priced. Recommended! ☺️

Family of 3 booked in for afternoon tea. Staff were amazing, so welcoming and friendly. Really made us feel welcome and nothing was too much trouble. The afternoon tea was delicious, food was plentiful and the coffee and tea was refilled often. Sandwiches were freshly made after we had chosen our fillings. Scones were delicious, the Parmesan one and the cherry and coconut one were really nice. We all enjoyed the little trifles too, and had to bring our huge slices of carrot cake and brownie home with us as we were stuffed! Toilet was immaculate, lovely touch having nappies etc in there. Thank you for spoiling us, we loved it.

Had afternoon tea it was OK nothing great, Very noisy cafe loud talking in the kitchen coffee machine,and a noisy customer my friend and I couldn't hear each other. Perhaps just a bad day but won't be back to find out.

Called in at about 1pm, cafe was busy but not full. Very friendly staff, good choice on menu and prices very reasonable. Would definitely recommend.

It's the 2nd time I have been with a family member for afternoon tea. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Food was delicious. It's nice to have a choice of a good selection of sandwiches. Scones were beautiful and a lovely selection of cakes too. We will definitely be back

My daughter booked as a birthday treat for myself, her and my grandson! Lovely pleasant cafe, and wonderful staff! Afternoon tea was delicious, all freshly made, great choice, and unlimited tea and coffee! The staff came out with a slice of cake with a candle in and sang Happy Birthday to me! So kind 😁 would highly recommend to all x Thankyou Ladies.

Very welcoming and great coffee

We went on Saturday 18/8/19 for Afternoon tea. I took my cousin who was up from surrey and we both thoroughly enjoyed it. Our food was lovely and fresh, we had a good selection of sandwiches, scones and cakes. Staff were friendly and couldn't do enough for us. Will be definitely going again.

Staff are friendly, cafe is clean. Overall its an average cafe at an ok price. If you need a quick cuppa and a quiet corner this serves exactly that.

Visited today for afternoon tea. The food was delicious, freshly made sandwiches to order, amazing scones, cakes & trifle along with unlimited tea & coffee! So much we took some home as it was too good to leave. The staff were very friendly & welcoming too, I had won this as a prize to celebrate the cafe trading for 5 years. Went today for afternoon tea with family and have to say, it was really nice, sandwiches scones 3 choices, cheese fruit or cherry and coconut, small cakes and trifle, as much tea or coffee as you wanted, the girls were so friendly and brought out a small cake with candle on as it was 1 of the ladies birthday. I would definitely go back.

Although the cafe has many good reviews it didnt seem to live up to its reputation. My breakfast was lukewarm although the plate was scalding and the room is far too small and uncomfortable

We arrived at 9am for breakfast just as they were opening.We could park outside at that time but think it may be a problem later on.

Love going for afternoon tea here. You get to choose your sandwich fillings too! it is small so booking in advance is advised, however, it's cosy and welcoming ! Brilliant customer service. Definitely recommend!!

Took my friend for her birthday and it was beautiful. Service excellent, food lovely, plenty selection, refillable teapots and price was very good for what you received. Will definitely go back again.

We decided to take my mum for afternoon tea. Whilst looking on TripAdvisor we noticed this tea shop had very good reviews. My mum lives in North Shields so it was a trip to the other side of the Tyne. This was also not a place my mum had been to. This was mums first afternoon tea.

We ordered a buffet for our girls christening have to say these were fantastic food was delicious brilliant service would recommend again and again thank you for making our day go lovely xx💕

The standard of this small tea shop set in the village of Harton, South Shields never fails. Yes, it’s small, yes parking is sometimes hard to get, but is it worth it.....yes. It’s not just a special place for tea now as is does takeaway meals, breakfast Sundays, pastries and gateux, milkshakes, coffees etc

Been here today for Afternoon Tea. It was absolutely delicious. Great choice of sandwiches. PIcked sultana scone with jam and clotted cream - GREAT choice. Trifles were lovely. Took other cakes home as no room left. Staff were great too. Definately a place to return to.

What an amazing little find this was, will definitely be heading back soon, good service and overall cleaningless of the place was great! I had a full English breakfast with tea and juice. Prices were great for what you get all in. Keep up the good work guys, you’re smashing it.

What a lovely place, small but wow!!! Been here a few times. Had afternoon tea with friends and family. It was fantastic..freshly made sandwiches, homemade scones and cakes and served and presented beautifully. Fantastic, friendly staff that go out of there way to help u,nothing is too much trouble. Recently been for just coffee and a cake which was very reasonably priced. The cherry & coconut scones r to die for with freshly whipped cream and strawberries inside. Yum yum. They also do a very nice latte. This place is defiantly the best little coffee shop in town.

I asked the wonderful person who served us could I have a hot sandwich. The Lady said no problem as usual the service was excellent the staff were brilliant and the food was really good the choice was really good and you get to have what sandwiches you choose, All I can say is excellent as usual

We went to village delights for a surprise birthday party mine 65th the staff were brilliant we had afternoon tea for 4 my Wife + daughter + a very good friend.

Great to have the hustle bustle of this cafe nearby. Friendly staff, comfy chairs, clean toilets and decent grub. What more can you ask?

Booked afternoon tea here for 2 adults snd one child. Food was amazing largest choice of sandwhich fillings I've ever had for afternoon tea, beautiful home made scones and again a choice of scones. Unlimited tea, coffee and soft drinks. Kids afternoon tea was only £4.50 and included sandwhich, pizza, sausage roll, crisps, scone and cakes. Staff were friendly and. Helpful. Booking essential tho as very small.

Absolutely fabulous great value for money best afternoon tea we have ever had.

Parking is handy right out front. This is a small café with only about 6/7 tables, therefore with being up close and personal with the kitchen we all found we smelt of 'breakfast' on leaving. The service was good although as the food is cooked fresh it took a little longer than you would expect. The food was good & hot with a price (£5.45) to match for the big breakfast. Overall experience was good, although I hoped for a little better given the overall TA reviews.

We visited for afternoon tea after booking a table for two adults and one child,the table was set with proper China cups and looked very fancy,we had ordered a child afternoon tea which consisted of a choice of one kind of sandwich a small sausage roll a small pizza and crisps,a plain scone with jam and cream a piece of cake with jam and coconut on,a Rice Krispie cake,marshmallow with chocolate on a small chocolate brownie and a chocolate covered profiterole and my daughter chose a pot of tea all for £4.95 it was well worth £4.95.then the adults afternoon tea was unlimited tea or coffee we opted for coffee,a choice of 3 kinds of sandwiches from the board there must of been a good choice of 11 or more fillings we chose cheese savoury,piri piri chicken and chicken and stuffing and it was served with salad and crisps,there was then two of the biggest scones I have ever seen served with little pots of jam and clotted cream you get to choose your flavour of scone aswell but these vary from day to day,it had sponge cake with jam and coconut and a slice of fudge cake or toffee cake,2 little trifles and 4 little mini cakes which were all unreal,we managed to eat all the sandwiches and few of the deserts but we had to bring the scone and cakes home as was so filling,the fillings in the sandwiches were all beautiful and plenty of it the bread was so fresh,and the cakes were so tasty we have had afternoon tea at other places and this one is by far the best hands down,the shop itself is lovely and clean and the staff are very friendly and welcoming definetley an a********** from us

Don't go anywhere else before you sample Village delights. Small quaint lovely place to eat. As other reviewers have said book around lunch time as all tables where taken when we where there. Lovely food, excellent range and if they don't have what u fancy they will try and accommodate. Friendly staff nothing is a bother and nice little touchs like heated cups for the tea. Prices are excellent and we will definitely be back maybes for afternoon tea.

Paid £25 for 2 adult and 1 kids meal, plus drinks and desserts. Service was excellent and food tasty with a decent selection. Small venue, and was full when we arrived (had booked a table). Parking is difficult so ended up parked in the street behind but only a 2 min walk. Staff couldn't have been more friendly.

The food here is just superb, particularly the breakfast offerings. Try the scrambled eggs. Portions are very generous, but the main plus is the quality of the fayre. One of the best cafe's in the Borough.

Very friendly staff. Very small cafe that's always busy. At lunch may need to reserve table for more than two. Reasonable prices, and fantastic choices for takeaways. Only negative is shortages of parking spaces. As I don't drive no probs for me.

Superb tea and cake! Both were brought frought for an incrdible price. Surroundings were excellent as well as the staff who were very attentive.

My (Nearly) Husband and I like to sit and relax having a nice cup of tea and cake. However this place is lovely, friendly and the best High tea we have found in the North East. The sandwiches are fresh and you decide what you want. the Scones are the same with individual clotted cream and jam each. Salad and crisps, a selection of tea loafs/cakes then cream cakes on the top. All presented lovely. We have been a few times now (5) and still as good as the first time.

We found this little gem whilst staying at the Premiere Inn. The fact that the hotel restaurant was closed for a refit worked in our favour as this quaint little cafe serves one of the best cooked breakfasts we have ever had. The food was cooked to perfection and beautifully served. We visited two days running and can highly recommend the stotties which are just as filling as the breakfasts. This establishment definitely deserves Trip Advisors Certificate of Excellence and we will be sure to return.

Was recommended by a friend to use village delights for outside catering.Food presentation fantastic, food was beautiful and service exceptional. Will go no further if I need or recommend them, good night was had by all and lots of compliments for the food.

A big thankyou to Village Delights where we celebrated my husbands birthday with an excellent cream tea. We were welcomed by the very friendly owners who make all the superb scones and cakes. We could not eat it all and they even boxed some to bring home. They even surprised us by putting a candle in a cake and sang happy birthday.10 out of 10 . we will certainly be back .
