Nice authentic Vietnamese food at Chorlton. Everything we tasted was great, and the portions were normal. It got busier a hit later in the evening, and it was a shame that it could be rather quiet on weekdays. The only thing to note is that it is a cash-only restaurant.

Really enjoyed our first visit to Vietnamese Potbellied and will definitely be returning. The food was really delicious, the atmosphere was relaxed, the service was friendly and the interior was comfortable and clean. I'm just sad I haven't been until now!

Without this place, Chorlton would be really lacking in good east Asian food options. The food here is fire. The Bun Cha (fishcake noodle soup) is the one to order; the flavour in that broth really is something special! You can tell these guys really care about the food. I wish the papaya salad was spicier & funkier but that might just be me. Either way it's still fresh & delicious.

Can’t believe it’s taken so long for us to try this restaurant- wonderfully tasty Vietnamese food. The beef stew with jasmine rice was mouth watering. We will definitely be back.

Love the food here. Usually have prawn summer spring rolls and bun cha ca (with the fishcakes). Really tasty. They do BYO, bring your own, now and make sure you bring cash.

Friendly enough and quick. Service and food was ok but I prefer other local Vietnamese restaurants.

A classic family run restaurant where they are really good at making food, but don’t really understand how to run a restaurant. The service was very awkward, front of house being run by some teenagers who clearly have never experienced eating at a restaurant themselves, and have no idea how to talk to people. But the food was deliciously made, and great value too. Really recommend here for the food, but don’t expect much service wise.

We are regulars here and always enjoy the food here. I've had Vietnamese food all over the UK and around the world. Unless you have a live-in Vietnamese chef, this is about as good as it gets in the UK. The cooking is mainly done by two Vietnmese aunties, so everything tastes correct. I can confirm that the pho broth here is super tasty and far better than the bland stuff from other places in the region.. Also, I'm a massive fan of chicken wings, and I can safely declare that their wings are the best in Greater Manchester. The wings are crisp and light and more-ish. The owner knows that sometimes we need to order two portions wings because one portion is simply insufficient! The homemade prawn cakes in the bun hue are amazing as well. Portions here are generous even for me who needs to eat 3500-4000 calories daily due to my high physical activity level. The menu has only a few items to allow for specialisation and less need to keep a massive inventory in the freezer, so everything is fresh and tasty. In summary, everyone should visit!

Vietnamese Potbellied is one of our local restaurants, and for the quality of the food, and the price you pay, you really can't go wrong! As the name suggests, it's a range of Vietnamese food - pho and ben hue making up the majority of the menu. Starters include things like salt & pepper prawns, chicken, tofu (pictured), spring and summer rolls. Importantly, the food is all fantastic. A favourite of mine is the s&p tofu and the Bun Bo Hue. Portions are extremely generous too - a starter and main would probably be more than enough for most people! The restaurant is also a mix of BYOB and has a license to sell alcohol as well. If you are able to BYOB, it makes a meal here extremely reasonable with the corkage (c. £4.50 I think). Recently, I visited with some family and for the 6 of us, the overall cost was £120, or £20 a head. Which is incredible value for a starter and main, given how good the food is! The atmosphere is also really lovely. It's nice and relaxed, the restaurant is family owned, and you are never rushed. Service is always really good, whenever we've visited. On Fridays and weekends you might want to book a bit in advance, but for weekdays you would probably be OK to walk in. All in all, great food, fab prices, just a really nice place to spend an evening!

Can't fault the food ❤️ But paper table cloths? Serving staff in joggers and hoodies? Generic acoustic music that has nothing to do with Vietnam? Messy bathrooms with cleaning products scattered everywhere? It won't take five minutes to clean up, wipe down tables (instead of creating wastage from paper cloths), and tell the staff to wear something more appropriate - even blue jeans and black t shirts, just something consistent that looks like they actually want to be there. If *they* wanna be there, *I* wanna be there. But yes the Pho was pho-nomenal thanks so much for a lovely meal ❤️

Food was fantastic and it was brilliant that they had BYOB but the service was quite poor, it was just two young lads who forgot parts of our order and were really slow to take our order, clear away plates, provide side plates and water etc, which is a shame because the place could be really good due to the high quality of the food hence 4* and not 5*.

Fantastic authentic Pho. I have been here several times in the last few months, can't get enough of it!

I visited this restaurant for the first time last week. I got there about 40 minutes before they were about to close. They still let me in and served me which was the first time I experienced this (usually you don't get this kind of service). The food was quite nice but I forgot to mention that I don't like cilantro and it was all over my meals which were a Kids pho and the Vietnamese pork belly. That is the only thing I didn't like about my food. The service was great and I really felt welcome and therefore I would recommend this restaurant.

Honestly love this place. My wife and I come here every couple of weeks and it’s really good. I find viet shak in the city too greasy, Nam is pretty good, but the Phö here is bang on. Fresh and flavoursome every time. Never had a bad experience and I must have been about 25 times. Our normal order is: Salt and Pepper Tofu, Spring rolls, Papaya Salad, and Veggie Phö… Also, if you can make the lunch time they do Bah Mi’s!!! (Viet Sandwich) Which for some reason are hard to come by in Manchester and they are well tasty, specially here. They use some sort of salty spread on the bread. Yummy! I honestly was surprised when I saw this place have only 4 reviews so figured I had to contribute. ❤️

Really good Vietnamese food in a family restaurant. The taste of Vietnamese food was amazing of the traditional pho. There were some extra things I like and they do work really hard for the food as a family and I would like to appreciate their hard work.

This place does the best pho and Vietnamese food in Manchester - and trust me I've tried them all. The food is amazing and the service is always fast, friendly and it a really nice atmosphere. I come probably weekly (ha) and never get bored!! Definitely try the Pho Chay it's the best.

Lovely team and great food for very reasonable prices

We had the soup vegan and beef noodles and a bottle of wine. Very much enjoyed it, the atmosphere in here is good, relaxed and friendly.

Myself, my wife and our little one enjoyed a wonderful meal here this evening. The service was friendly and helpful and when it came to the food, it was absolutely delicious. I've been before and, while it was good then, I'm sure it's stepped up since. I enjoyed the special spicy pho (bun hue I think) - really fragrant and tasty with generous amounts of meat while my wife really enjoyed her beef rendang which was spicy but nicely hearty. All in all, it was a great casual dinner full of charm and I'd definitely recommend checking it out 👌

Excellent authentic Vietnamese food. Very fresh, aromatic and tasty. Fairly priced, and good service. Try the chicken Banh Mi (baguette) and Pho (broth with beef and noodles). Lovely stuff.

Potbellied is a small independently run restaurant in the centre of bustling Chorlton, Greater Manchester. It prides itself on serving only authentic Vietnamese dishes using the freshest ingredients. Where do I begin to put into words what a hidden treasure this place is. Service, atmosphere and food were exquisite. The menu offers a variety to suit all tastes. We visited for lunch and opted for the noodle broth (Pho with rare slices of beef and Bun Bo Hue with beef and pork), as well as belly pork bites and prawn summer rolls. It was all totally delicious and served with a smile. The owner came over to our table at the end of the meal for a chat which was the perfect ending to one of the tastiest meals I have ever had. We will definitely visit again, thank you to the staff and owner for giving us a wonderful experience.

Came for lunch with a friend. Wasn't too busy so getting a table was quick. Staff were friendly and attentive. Ordered the bun thit nuong (grilled pork vermicelli salad) which was absolutely divine. A decent sized portion, not skimping out on any of the components. Will definitely come back to try their pho and other dishes!

Lovely owner - really nice authentic noodle soup, summer rolls and spring rolls. Can't wait to come back and try some other dishes!

Best Vietnamese food I've had in the UK!

Have tried quite a few of the Vietnamese places in Manchester and this is definitely up there with the best of them! It’s a fairly small, authentic menu and the food is so so delicious and fresh. Their £8 pho + drink deal is just such good value (especially for Chorlton!). Staff are absolutely lovely too. 10/10 ❤️

3rd time I've been here, and first since the rename (is it new ownership too?). The last time I had a Banh Mi, but it had no paté in, which was weird considering that's one of the main ingredients. Never mind, it was nice enough for me to come back again. This time we shared a really nice salt & pepper squid starter. Then my girlfriend had pho, and I had the south East Asian coconut curry. I couldn't taste any coconut, and it was gloopy like a cheap curry sauce from a jar or a bad Chinese takeaway. Pretty grim. Following that, I've had 2 days of food poisoning, so yeah I can't recommend that dish or even this place again really. And I know it was this dish because we've both eaten the same food in the days leading up to this, with the only difference being that meal. Shame because the place is nice, and the service is pretty good, hence me not giving it 1 star.

Great balance of flavours to the dishes. The salt and pepper whitebait was fantastic and dipping sauce topped it off beautifully. Service exceptional and good value price. Had a real homely feel to it.

What a little gem!!! Had such a delicious meal - so reasonably priced and extremely tasty. I had the salt and pepper prawn and squid rice dish but was equally tempted by the aubergine and tofu dish. Really happy with what I had and the service was wonderful. Chatted to the owner about food and all sorts for ages. Will be coming here at lunch for a Banh Mi for sure!

Authentic and tasty Vietnamese option in Chorlton. The vegetarian options could be made vegan which was great for me. And the coconut condensed milk coffee was the best coffee I’ve had since visiting Vietnam!

First visit since it changed from Pho Bowl, what we had was great and the service was good. Reasonably priced , we shared various dishes of the starters and sides. The salt and pepper prawns and normal prawns were exceptional. Chicken wings of both types available also very good. Fish cakes ok , salt n pepper chips lacking flavouring. Nice spring rolls , my only gripe is no rice dishes or papaya salad on the menu. It's missing that for me as I look forward to that and would have helped bulk the meal out. We was all a little hungry afterwards not there fault so we went to get cakes etc from the shop.

Poor service and food. Took 30 minutes for our drinks to arrive and we had to ask twice before we were able to order food. The table next to us (that arrived later) were served their food first (before they even got their drinks). Some food arrived wrong despite us repeating the entire order - they did correct it for free. Food arrived with a very long time between everyone's meals, we had to chase the last two main dishes and even asked if we could leave them as everyone else had long finished. The Pho was very average, the mushrooms in the dish were not nice. The aubergine vegan dish was flavoursome. Overall, would definitely not recommend.
