Victoria Inn in Ceredigion

The food here is absolutely amazing along with the customer service. I have been staying in borth for 3 days currently and I have been there everyday. The view from the balcony is amazing definitely worth the mo wy I have spent there. They are reasonably prices as well.

Visited yesterday for lunch.Cappuccino is just warmed up milk with trace of coffee- tasteless. Cod and chips just awful. Dripping with grease, over cooked batter with tiniest piece of dried up cod if you managed to get past the batter. Such a shame as last meal a month ago in the evening was very nice. Perfect location overlooking the sea.

A lovely little pub with standard pub grub, had quite large selection on the menu and price was average. A beautiful beer garden/terrace looking out to sea. We had a drink and snack here yesterday, the service was ok, but there is no table service, you order at the bar whether drinks or food and are asked to take glasses back to the bar. Went back for evening meal here this evening and different staff which seemed more attentive. I had vegetable lasagna and I really enjoyed my food. My partner had steak, that was fine cooked how he asked but there wasn't much peppercorn sauce. We would go back but this was our last night here in borth.

We booked a table for two while taking a couple of days break to celebrate our Ruby Wedding as we thought it would be lovely to eat on the balcony overlooking the sea. As the wind was so strong we decided to eat inside and ordered a curry and pasta dish. Both meals were so poor words fail me, cold, tasteless curry had no heat, no spice and certainly from the microwave the pasta, cold and tasteless, I cant remember when we had eaten a worst meal. Good for a drink overlooking the sea but steer clear of the food. not worth the one star I was forced to tick.

Great place with great outside seating right on the beach so first impressions were good. We only stopped for drinks, a beer and a coffee however the coffee order was an issue. There we two ladies behind the bar and approx six other customers. One of the ladies said we do serve coffee but wasn't sure if the machine was on. The other lady ssid it was so I thought everything was fine. Then after fiddling with the machine for a while the first lady said i can make you a coffee but we are very busy so you can only have the one I will be too busy to make you another one as we have a big table booked in. I was perplexed at this so declined the "one" even though I would have only had the one. It was such a shame as the views were amazing we would pobably have returned for more visits and maybe some food as the menu looked good. If it was late the evening I would understand but it was approximately 5pm. Such a shame and I wouldn't wasnt to put others off and miss the fantastic views and seating area this bar has. Maybe it was just a bad day we all have them.

Always loved the Vic, been coming on and off for 50 years. I’ve seen some changes over the years…..but what’s not to like? great beer, foods pretty good, staff friendly and the outside seating areas on a sunny day, has views to die for……

Calling all dog lovers and brave canine adventurers! Prepare to embark on a roller coaster experience at The Victoria Inn at Borth, a place where the landlady's disdain for dogs adds an extra touch of excitement to your visit. Now, I must warn you, dear readers, that the Victoria Inn's dog-friendly policy might come with a bit of a twist. You see, the landlady's love for our four-legged companions is about as strong as her desire to ride naked on a unicycle along Aberystwyth Prom in a storm. Upon arrival, my puppy was immediately set upon by a much larger dog at the end of the bar, however, my little girl stood her ground and gave as good as she got, leading to the owner of the other dog taking the snarling animal who started the trouble outside. This sort of thing happens in every pub in the land that allows dogs. The Land Lady stood behind the bar, with a forced smile and eying my furry friend with total distain and I could almost hear her thinking, "I can't believe I have to let these drooling creatures into my pristine establishment." The Land Lady, obviously not well equipped with doggy etiquette sternly pointed out to us that “Barky Dogs have to go outside”, I explained we intended to sit outside anyway and had I not already ordered our drinks we wouldn’t have stayed. My 18 month old little girl, obviously still startled by the other dogs aggression, hid between my legs whimpering. In conclusion, the Victoria Inn at Borth is a quirky haven for dog lovers who relish a challenging ever-watchful landlady as soon as they walk in. So, leave your sense of humor at the door, embrace the side-eye, and get ready to make memories that will leave your tail between your legs for years to come.

Busy pub. Probably the only one in Borth open to booking for evening meal, well done. The food was not the best but acceptable, service pretty much non existent but they were very busy, maybe we were expecting too much. Despite all of this, the family had a good evening. Well done staff under difficult situation.

Friendly and efficient hard working staff but the battered cod was disappointing. Dried out in a brittle crust of batter. Shame.

we stayed in Borth for a week and ate each evening at the Victoria. the food was always cooked and presented well. All staff were polite but friendly. on our last day Monday 5th June we were booked in for the evening meal but my husband was unable to walk. I cancelled our booking but found that they would cook our meal and provide it as a takeaway. We thought this was really helpful to us and we are definitely going to continue eating at the Victoria on our visit next June.

Very friendly service for such a busy pub. Lots of walk in traffic so booking advised. Good choice on menu, but beware they do vary from what is on the internet. Beer was excellent and house wine very reasonable for a pub.

We discovered this great pub a couple of years ago after a long, tiring walk on the Wales Coastal Path, and have just been back, on our first post-Lockdown weekend away.Glad to see the literally on-the-beach terrace is still going strong. Despite COVID restrictions, food and drink service is still operating and was safe and efficient. We loved their halloumi with honey and za’atar, garlic mushrooms and wraps washed down with a good selection of beers and wines. We stayed until sundown and managed 3 visits over 36 hours. It’s definitely the best post-COVID sit-outside pub we’ve been to. Thank you!

Best thing about this pub was the balcony with the view overlooking the beach. Drinks were OK nothing special, food served in takeaway cartons, if you hadn't got a table then you couldn't be served, very impersonal. Considering pubs have been closed for a while this pub needed lots of tlc doing to it, which along with a staff makeover would make it more of a pleasant environment to visit

Very very disappointed with this pub I’m a wheelchair user and all drinks had to be ordered upstairs. No food available even though judging by the comments of others they had been hoping for something to eat. They could have done at least 20 covers by 6pm. View was lovely but I would definitely give a zero rating to this pub. Very sad

We visited yesterday an absolute gem of a pub, family friendly and dog welcome. The staff were great very welcoming. Who could ask for more sitting out on the sun terrace whilst enjoying a good pint with panoramic views of the beach.

We visited last Tuesday evening (28th July 2020) the pub has an amazing location which backs onto the beach where you can sit and enjoy drinks and a meal whilst watching the sun go down. Sadly the service is dead slow and place is filthy dirty! Not once during our meal did anyone clean the tables - they were cleared of glasses and plates yes! but not cleaned once. The area where you walk through to the stairs (behind a shed) has grease stains on the decking (a good power-wash should fix this) I am originally from the area and was really disappointed by the lack of effort to maintain cleanliness during COVID .....having said all of that, the food quality was good.

We visited on a Friday lunchtime at the end of July. The set up at the back of the Vic seems to work well for both social distancing and outdoor drinks with a lovely sea view. We had a couple of drinks and ordered a wrap each with fries. The Chicken wrap I had was very nice and the Prawn & Chives wrap my Fiancee had was equally as good, so I was told. The fries were the star or the show though, really tasty, crisp and full of flavour, with a salty topping. Very nice. It would’ve been a 5 star review, but the food wasn’t up and running, despite being advertised, when we first ordered, and we weren’t informed as promised when it would be. Our lunch was worth the wait though. It’s clear it’s a strange time for both staff and customers, with the COVID situation, but you can see the staff at the Vic are working hard, and we were made to feel welcome on several visits over the week.

Spent a gorgeous day in the beach with lovely weather, as me and my family decided we were feeling peckish, we walked up to the Victoria Inn and decided to grab a bite to eat... as we walked around to the outside seating the smell of the freshly cooked food was amazing! We were greeted by lovey staff who were there to take our orders. When our food came the burgers were amazing!! My son loved his food also, but the burgers and wraps were just something else, all handmade and freshly prepared with gorgeous salad and lovely crispy fries! Can't wait for our next visit to the Vic!!

Where do i start. Absolutely terrible place. I have used this place many times in the past through stopping off with running groups etc (never again!). Today was there with family and waited over one hour for service, when a waitress finally came over to tell our group of five adults that the chef was busy on the phone? this went on for another half hour, when she returned and stated he had been on the phone all morning. Terrible attitude and communication between the staff there. Went to the Railway instead which was amazing. Will be taking our parties of runners and family members there from now on. In my opinion it looks like the Vic is closing down!

We arranged to meet my brother and his family, who had travelled to see us, for the first time since before lockdown, at the Vic. We arrived, having checked they were open and serving food for the Tuesday lunchtime service.We arrived at 1pm, they were open, and the bar staff were friendly and helpful BUT we were unable to order any food as the chef was on the phone and they didn't know how long for (it seems he'd been on the phone for some considerable time already). We ordered drinks, but when we went back to check 30 mins later, they still weren't allowed to take food orders. Shocking service from a pub during a busy lunchtime service time. Shocking service and disappointed as we were left wondering where to go. We decamped to the nearby Railway pub in the end, where the service was much better.

Wonderful situation right on the beach where one can view wonderful sunsets. My favourite place in Borth.

Really nice and well priced food. I had the Vic burger which was a great choice and my wife went for the vegetarian burger, which I tried and couldn’t fault. Good beer, friendly service and a great atmosphere. I’m sure we will be back.

Although I live locally I'd never eaten here before. The reviews on here encouraged me to try it today and I was very glad I did. I had the beetroot and walnut burger with a pesto dressing in a brioche bun, which came with chips and onion rings. The burger was melt in your mouth delicious and my only regret is that the portion was so generous I just couldn't finish everything on my plate. There wasn't an enormous veggie selection on the menu but when the quality is this good I don't mind. Service was friendly and efficient and the price was reasonable.

I have a regular Thursday lunch date with a friend, one week in Borth and the next week in Aber, today we ate at The Victoria Inn. Usual story, 15 minutes of gossip before ordering, my friend who loves the 5 bean chilli jacket potato decided to have the sausage and mash for a change, when it arrived not only was it a darn good portion it smelled amazing and I mow wished I had ordered the same, my lunch waa as lovely as always but I did have serious food envy. Definitely my next choice when we are next there. Highly recommended. PS the table service was very much appreciated.

went for lunch on 28/12/2019 all i can say is was the worst meal we have ever had , we complaned and we were told it was the last of meat ! all they did was knock £3 pounds of each meal . What a disaster!!!

Very friendly pub with good choice of real beer. Food was well prepared and large portions. The soup was excellent. especially the spiced cauliflower.

Not a big menu choice, but the meals and plates were hot, good choice of vegetables, but no mash, shame. Typical dessert menu, which could be enhanced by traditional puddings which have all but vanished. Friendly service, good range of beers, however the restaurant was crammed with tables and chairs, the venue having several floors. Early days for the new owners, good luck.

Lovely traditional pub with very nice food and lots of choice at a reasonable price.We visited on a wet December day time and enjoyed a nice coffee by the warm wood burner. The dog enjoyed stretching out And sleeping in front of it!Nothing was too much trouble for the people working there.The fish and chips we opted for were a tasty treat.

Had another chance to visit here a couple of weeks ago. We were just looking for a nice lunch. The service just like last time was so polite but friendly at the same time. I had the Moho bitter which was superb as always. My friend had the five bean chilli jacket potato which she has had before and enjoyed it more than last time. I thought I would have something simple so chose maple cured bacon and cheese ciabatta and what was meant to be a nice simple meal turned into an absolute delight. Who knew that bacon could taste like that! Extra cheese was not a problem and the salad was lovely. I am not a huge fan of chips but it has to be said I think they are the best I gave ever tasted. Keep it up guys. Can't wait to enjoy our Christmas lunch.

The Bar Staff could not have been more friendly or efficient and the food was of a very good standard. The downstairs decor is a little uninspiring but the seats are comfortable and the room warm.

After years of eating in the village I was forced for the first time to return a meal and ask for a refund,this was because the Sunday lunch I was served was terrible,upon finding out the chef that cooked that day no longer worked there I returned and ordered a Sunday lunch,the man behind the bar took my order to the kitchen and when he returned told me that the boss has told him to tell me that as IV complained before,if I don't like this one then "that's it" I asked him to clarify what he means and he explained to me that if I don't like this meal then I'm not welcome to eat at this pub anymore..I have been served for from perfect meals at this pub in the past but have always just given honest feedback and tried to help the kitchen know what they are doing wrong,I have only ever once asked for my money back so I was so shocked to receive such terrible attitude,the meal come and it was very very good,just a terrible shame about the service

Wettest holiday ever! Found this pub - wasn't prepared for stunning sea views from rear patio.Good value food and beer. I had fish and chips, well cooked, huge piece of fish. Staff were friendly, but not American "in your face" style. Would be nice if they looked a bit smarter, but I would happily revisit and reccomend.

What a stunning little pub on the high street in Borth. Very welcoming and amazing seaside location. Beautiful deck and terrace overlooking the Atlantic. Can’t be beaten. Do yourself a favour and stop by for a drink and then stay for the views and great food. Land lady is a top bird.

Minted Lamb pie was very nice, but the fish & chips was not so good, the fish was nearly all batter & not very nice, one of our party had Macaroni Cheese which was rather greasy and she left most of it. Visited here a few times on our recent stay in Borth, great pub, on the beach too with decking area and balcony if you go upstairs.

When we arrived the place was very busy with customers and we struggled to find a table, but we found one upstairs. Two of the tables were reserved and stayed that way the whole time we were there. I do wish places would use the continental method and put a time when the table is going to be in use and not just tie the table up all day for one cover. The service was very slow,but you had to expect that on busy days. When the food did arrive is was very good and lots of it. The annoying point was the waitress brought up the food then had to go back and bring the cutlery ,after we had been sitting there for a good 3/4 of an hour. All round a good place to go.

From the road it looks small and dark but go outside or upstairs at the back and you are on the beach. Wonderful views and good selection of beers and food. Worth a visit if in Borth

This place has gone down hill fast. Over an hour wait for food and rude bar staff. The place was filthy and no toilet paper in the women's. Very poor managment which is a shame as it's a prime location.

Having slated the place on March 14th, I am very pleased to say that the new owner has finally arrived, taken over, and the pub has rapidly come back to being what it was, the best beach-side pub in, certainly mid Wales, possibly Wales. The TV in the Atlantic Bar has been fixed. It's a miracle !!!!
