Having not been to The Ship Inn for a while we decided to pay it a visit for its Steak Night. On arrival we were given a warm welcome by Hayley. We were shown to our table and our drinks order taken straight away. The food when ordered was served quickly and I must say compliments to the Chef. The steaks were done exactly as we had asked for. Our waitress Nicole could not do enough for us. We will certainly be going back again soon.

Booked a table for 7:15, sat down at 7:45, without a lot of people in the restaurant. It was explained to us that he was waiting for a table by the window. When sat, a number of items weren’t on the menu as it was the 2nd week of a half term! Half terms come around every year so some pre planning should have been organised? Ordered food and was told a further 2 weren’t available! Food arrived, this seemed good and tasty until a small fly was found in one of the meals. Very apologetic manager but that didn’t take away that it was there and found. At the end of the evening we were provided with an appropriate response to the meals and experience we were given. A real disappointment.

Super spot but the service is beyond awful. Waited 25 minutes to be served a drink. Nothing has changed since last year when it was equally as bad. Lots of other pubs that are so much better. Marstons won’t care of course. Far too big a company but what a shame. It was such a lovely pub a few years ago when privately owned. Worth going if you are prepared to wait an eternity. Eaten here too. Food is extremely average. I wouldn’t bother.

Well where do I start . We had breakfast there that was dreadful, black pudding was so hard u couldn't cut it eggs had a brown colour to it so was cooked in dirty oil. Myself and my husband decided to try an evening meal there what a mistake that was. We both had pate which should have come with toasted brioche bread that wasn't toasted also should have come with shredded pickled onoin we had wedges ov onions. Our mains were steak which u could see they had been held on the pass for quite a long time a the salad was all wilted. I had peppercorn sauce which still had small bits ov ice in as it was warmed up properly, my husband ordered beef dripping and melot sauce they served him gravy instead as they didn't have the sauce he had ordered but didn't tell my husband it was gravy so that's misconduct trying to pass a sauce on as beef dripping and melot. Our chips u could see they had been cooked twice.. My husband was appalled as he a chef himself.

I don't ever write Tripadvisor reviews but this was so bad, it's worthy of mention. We arrived at 6.45 as per the booking and they were expecting us at 7.30pm. Sat us at nice table for six in the conservatory, even though we were a couple. Tried to order two lots of home made kebabs from the mains but told they had run out of kebabs. Readjusted our order to one signature sharer and one surf and turf main ( to share). Just as we were expecting our starter, told signature sharer was sold out (19.30) ffs. Said we'd had enough and would pay for our drinks. Total shambles but at least they wouldn't take money for drinks.

Nice atmosphere in the pub . We had a Good night's sleep. Pub closed at 10pm. Breakfast between 8.30 and 10.00 which was cooked as I asked for and was also lovely. Staff were friendly and helpful throughout. Having decided it was such a lovely place to stay and we may have a dog next year, we asked if we could see another room . They have 2 rooms for dog owners. We saw room 1 which doesn't have a balcony and is a double room but has sitting for 2 by the window overlooking the beach. What's not to like ...... Expectations were exceeded. Service team were awesome, food (Sunday) pork roast was tender, full of flavour and plentiful. The signature burger lovingly crafted and prepared by Vince was probably the best I’d eaten. Bar, dining, toilets and outside were clean and well maintained. Pooches were well taken care of with water, treats and blankets for inside and out. Price wise it’s all comparative, go inland and pay a little bit cheaper, but for location, hospitality, dining and pooch friendly - worth every penny and recommended. Will be back.

We visited The Ship for a birthday meal on a Sunday, the setting and views are outstanding, and the staff were very friendly. There was a Sunday Lunch menu alongside the standard menu, which is an added bonus on a Sunday. 3 of my party wanted Sunday roast but I wanted something from the standard menu, the sausage and mash, but as I am not too keen on mash, asked if I could have chips instead. This is where the alarm bells should have rung, I was advised that as they came pre-packed I couldn’t have chips. As everyone else was ready I didn’t want to waste time studying the menu again so opted for a roast as well. There was very little waiting time for the food, and it arrived on funky triangular plates with all the veg and meat plated up. Mine was missing the stuffing ball, but I can live with that, there were a roasted carrot and parsnips, several roast potatoes that were quite tough, peas and French beans along with a huge Yorkshire pudding and some gravy, my father said his beef was tender, but the pork and turkey were quite dry. We asked for Cranberry, mustard and horseradish which were quickly brought out, my mother asked for some gravy and I thought that I would have some of hers, as a fair amount of mine had poured off the strangely shaped plate, the gravy arrived and I could see that I wasn’t going to have any. It came in the smallest jug I have ever seen in a restaurant, smaller than when you get cream to pour on a dessert, and roughly the size of a expresso cup. My father then asked for some more gravy but waited a good 5 minutes to receive his, and this was the same size also.2 of us had desserts, my father with an ice cream sundae which he polished off, I had the panna-cota which was very nice, but the accompanying cookie was burnt, they had dusted it with icing sugar, but it was burnt. Now you may well be wondering why I’m harping on about gravy portion sizes, well, and I have to admit that I missed that you had to pay for extra gravy(something I have never heard of anywhere else), but to have the audacity to charge £2.50 for a couple of tablespoons of gravy was gobsmacking, added to that we had to pay £5 because we wanted two servings. I’m afraid that the food was mediocre, (although the table behind us seemed to be happy with their food, so perhaps we were unlucky) and the cost extortionate. But it looks a nice place for a drink to look out over the beautiful beach at Tresaith

The service was superb and the staff were very friendly, accommodating and nothing was too much trouble. The evening meals chosen ranged from burgers, the scampi and steaks. All were to a great standard and no one had any complaints. The meat on the Sunday lunch was beautiful and came with a range of vegetables. After a recommendation, we came to this spot as a group of 5 girls. We ordered drinks which took at least half an hour. 1 of the drinks didn’t arrive and another was wrong. We wanted to order Sunday roasts at 1:30pm and they had not cauliflower cheese left, I was unaware it was a breakfast dish to have run out already. When our food finally arrived, the roasts arrived with no red cabbage, the potatoes were definitely not roasted, the carrots and parsnips were in no way maple glazed and to market frozen peas as ‘seasonal greens’ is simply embarrassing. We were told AFTER we received our food that the red cabbage was not available. The roast was very average and definitely not as described on the menu. There was a serious lack of communication between the kitchen staff and the wait staff and everything took far too long. We will not be returning after a very disappointing trip to The Ship Inn.

I don’t think that we have ever been so disappointed with a restaurant. Visually it has every possible advantage situated where it is overlooking Tresaith Beach, a warm and comfortable ambience inside and a pleasantly situated dining area… However, the staff are totally useless, well at least the young girl who served us was., and the chef was not much better. My wife chose the roast beef and I chose sausage and mash from the reasonably extensive menu. After the girl had taken our order she went away but was back a few minutes later so say that there was no roast beef or Yorkshire puds left, also the pork was off so my wife ordered roast turkey which eventually came nonchalantly chucked on top of the veg with gravy poured over it. 5 minutes later the girl was back again to say that the chef had run out of sausages, so I changed my order again, this time I ordered French fries with my meal, at the girl’s suggestion. The fries hadn’t appeared by the time I had finished the rest of the meal. When I mentioned about not getting the fries to the waitress on paying the bill she showed not the slightest bit of concern and said “I must have forgotten to put them on” We have eaten at several other Marsden restaurants in the past and they have all been excellent but management need to spend some time in The Ship to sort it out.

About half the menu was unavailable, with no salad at all, not even for garnishes. Burgers were burnt, french fries were awful, cheap, overcooked and pretty much inedible. Coleslaw was cheap "value brand" and tasteless. A few desserts were unavailable too. The only thing this...

We enjoyed our stay and meals. The rooms had wonderful sea views. There were issues with the menu due to them waiting for deliveries but they were courteously dealt with. Staff were friendly and helpful.

The rooms were spotless and breakfast was amazing. I also went back for lunch. I recommend this hotel and thanks to all the wonderful staff

I like going here in the day when it's quiet. Decent food abd beer at decent places. I really wish they'd have a door opener button for people with disabilities issues. Surely that's within reasonable means
