All 4 of us had excellent meals and drinks. Really nice atmosphere. Shepherd's pie and the onion fries are highly recommended.

It took almost an hour for our food to come from when we ordered it despite it not being busy. The service was terrible, the staff were miserable. Our food was tepid at best and it was clear that it had been sat under a lamp for a while as the sauce on the chips had developed a skin. Part of our order was missing and we had to ask 2 members of staff for it. When it did arrive it was burnt. We will not be coming back again and will be deterring other people from going.

A proper mixed grill served by Mel,Sophie and the regular friendly team. Warm and genuine welcome every time with well served drinks....spot on...

What a fantastic meal we’ve had here tonight from the Christmas menu. I had the Christmas burger and my friend had the turkey Christmas dinner and both were absolutely superb. Presented really well, hot and one of the nicest meals I’ve had in a long time. The staff were really attentive and the atmosphere although a little noisy with Christmas parties was very enjoyable. I think I might be back again soon to have that same meal again as it was so lovely.

Couldn't fit 7 of us in for a meal very disappointed, and to top it all the carpark doesn't belong to the pub apparently you have to register your car reg which wasn't made clear on arrival can't rate the food as we didn't have any.

Brilliant atmosphere every time we go. Has a great pub quiz. Food is lovely and comes out quick every time. Staff are brilliant, always get served quickly even if it’s busy.

This is our regular place for pub dining. always good service, the meals are great values and the staff are friendly. The Victoria has a warm safe atmosphere to it, we always have a good time here

Always loved the Vic, but today's visit was a bit of a let down . My husband had the steak pie, but the pastry was like rock. The presentation wasn't much better with mashed potato just slopped on the plate with some of it really falling off , just looked a mess. Think the chef should look at the presentation more and also take more care with the pastry on the pies, really disappointed, won't be hurrying back any time soon.

Another enjoyable visit to The Victoria. Lovely atmosphere staff very friendly and helpful. Good selection of food. I had a gluten free choice it was presented well served hot and I really enjoyed it. I also chose a gluten free option mini dessert and coffee again it was really good. On the whole an excellent experience.

It was very welcoming with a roaring fire going as it was wet and winds outside. We chose our lunch and drinks and it was delicious. Good value meal with starters and puddings at £2.50 each. Would certainly recommend it.

Below par food from the vegetarian menu with ingredients missing from the salad. Really quiet but the service was also a bit lacklustre. Ordered from the app at the table which is a worrying experience as it often tries to order the mains again when you add food was a little below par. 19 Oct 2024 Another visit with my father in law and although the bar and waiting staff were as excellent as always the standard of the food is dropping rapidly. So few flavoursome filling vegetarian options I reverted to fish and chips again and yet again the fish was overcooked (our last visit had the same problem and when asked by the waitress if it was alright was told by her several had been sent back that lunchtime). Is this a kitchen staffing problem or is the frozen battered fish they use just poor quality?

Lovely looking restaurant, had a nice feel about it, we haven't been here before and were exited to try it out. Unfortunately, the food wasn't nice, it didn't look nor tasted good. We still had some of it, since it was our dinner that we paid for. Staff were friendly but after serving the food no one has come back to our table to check if the food was nice or clean our plates. We've waited for about 30min for that to happen but we were disheartened at that point and decided to leave. The restaurant wasn't busy and the staff seemed to avoid looking our direction; I think they knew what we were going to say by the look of our unfinished food. It's a shame, as the place itself is nice! We're new to the area and hope to find better place to eat out!

delicious food 😋 hunter's chicken schnitzel, mash, salad, plus dauphinois potatoes, nice and cheesey. food was warm, and fresh.

12 of us came we all ordered different things and paid separately the waitress made sure it all came together

We had a joint 40th / 60th birthday party the service was fantastic nothing was no trouble also credit to the chefs and the hard working bar staff Thanks for a fantastic night

all food was cold two portions of chips missing and also pepper corn sauce always something missing and cold will not be ordering again as had to throw everything away

It's okay. The staff are friendly and helpful. The food was hot. The menu is uninspired but as a chain, I'm not surprised. The cocktails are overpriced but again this can't be adjusted by the venue. It was very quiet in the dining area as the evening wore on (after 9pm) but I believe the bar was busier with locals. I'll visit again but wouldn't choose it for a celebration meal. "Tea out on a school night" would be my description iykyk.

Great options for food and drink and always good service. The atmosphere is always nice in here and the decor is very nice to look at. It was also not too loud so it was much better than other places to be able to have a decent conversation with friends and be able to hear each other. It's a nice, friendly local pub to come to with friends and family.

Extremely busy but very nice attentive staff. We didn't like the entrance. There were people smoking just outside the porch because it was raining and we had to walk through them to enter.

Had an early tea on a Monday, so not so many people in. Good menu choice with very good prices on 2 and 3 course options. Food was good value, lovely mixed grill and would come again. Staff polite and not overly intrusive. The garden area out the back was looking a bit tired if I had to say anything that needed improvement.

We regularly visit the victoria for lunch. We had a discount voucher by email so decided to use it yesterday. The mixed grill here is the best ever. All the components are excellent quality. The special daytime 2 or 3 course menu is really good value. The chocolate orange sponge pudding is my favourite pudding. I've just had a total knee replacement so using a crutch, no issues getting to a table. Well worth the discomfort.

A delicious, reasonably priced meal combined with friendly, polite and attentive staff.

The service was excellent, the staff were friendly and helpful. The Malbec we chose was lovely. The food was generally very good, the sea bass and chicken were cooked perfectly. The cheese and bacon topping for the Hunter's chicken was slightly overcooked as were a few of the calamari and the soup was only just warm enough.

I read an entire novel waiting for the food to arrive (I am not joking by the way ) it took over an hour for the food to arrive and they were not busy at all ,and when it did arrive we received hard vegetables, uncooked cabbage and they had clearly used frozen roast potatoes . The portion size was very small and overall it was a massive disappointment

We go for a meal regularly here and normally it is always fantastic, last night we had our first disappointing meal the lasagne was really over cooked but in all fairness they were so busy, the member of staff who asked if everything was OK deserves a medal for how she dealt with things when i mentioned it to her, Michelle was her name and she offered to replace my meal everyone else's meal was good but I said it was ok, not long after she came back to our table and apologised again and offered to refund or give me a pudding. She was absolutely wonderful and gave customer service a good name, certainly hasn't put me off going back, well done Michelle 😊

The service was friendly and helpful, which is a strong point. A negative is that our mains had clearly been sitting ready on the pass before we had finished our starters. This was evident in how often the waitresses kept coming to check if ee had finished our starters, clearing some empty plates while people in my party were still eating. The biggest indication was when the waitress took the last starter plate and asked if we were ready for our mains, she brought the mains to the table in under a minute. Clearly the mains were sitting waiting. This had a negative affect on the quality of the mains. I wonder what would have happened if we had said we wanted to wait for a little before having our mains.

My partners lasagne from the main menu was the size of a starter ! Very disappointing to say the least considering the price. Fortunately we had a voucher but definitely not worth full price

On arriving we were told that they had not got many dishes actually available so everything we actually wanted we couldn’t have. Food took over an hour to arrive. Friend ended up getting her food whilst we all waited a further 15 minutes before our food even turned up. Burger was undercooked and had to be sent back, quality was gristly and fatty - not good. Staff were lovely and really did try and help as it wasn’t just our table that had issues, table next to us also had problems so wasn’t great really.

The food was amazing....2 kebabs....absolutely wonder and tasty. The staff were amazing and could not do enough. Highly recommend!!

Waited over an hour for the meals after ordering and paying. Menu said root vegetables, greens, roast potato's. Out of the 3 only the greens were on the plate. My wife's meal was also missing the Yorkshire pudding.

Food was great had always but my birthday meal was completely ruined by 2 jack russel dogs inside the pub constantly barking 5 yards from my table for the whole 90 mins of my visit.

Food was fantastic, really enjoyed my main. Started was cold unfortunately. Only issue was it took over an hour to get food, which had to be rushed. Left me with 5 minutes to get everything ate and leave

I’ve not had food in the Vic for over 6 months as I thought the quality had gone downhill and the portions had reduced. Gave it a try and sadly things haven’t changed. Living 5 minutes walk away I probably ate there 2/3 times a month (and Xmas lunch) but until something changes I’ll walk the extra distance to The Milehouse.

I'm actually reviewing their food delivered by Just Eat. I had a Sunday lunch with a duo of meat. Chicken portion was nice and well cooked, although not large. Roast potatoes were nice, although they didn't provide any mash. 2 small but nice Yorkshire puddings and gravy were fine. There was a pot of what I thought was hot lettuce, which turned out to be leeks I think, which were undercooked and chewy and cut too large. Underneath were a few peas which were ok. Plus a spoonful of root veg roasted I think but were ok. So most of it was ok, if small, and would have liked some mash. Not eaten the green veg/leeks. So hence 3 stars.

Food was 'ok'. I question the staff hygiene (saw a staff member helping themselves to chocolate in a tub on the bar more than once and I never clocked them washing hands inbetween tasks. The atmosphere was depressing, the place needs the lights turning up so you can actually see. It's a dark hole, looks good from the outside, but depressing and dull on the inside. Not a chain pub I'll rush back to.

The place is nice and cozy with reasonable prices. Although it seems like a spot mainly for locals, I felt the atmosphere was peaceful and welcoming.

Portion size was really small, potatoes were undercooked, and missing stuffing ball. Gravy pot for vegan option was almost empty. A real shame

Absolutely loved every minute of it, a very cosy and authentic pub with a range of different customers, good for the kids and family the atmosphere is brilliant. Plenty of outdoor space in the sun. Good value for money. Had the haddock and chips and the large mixed grill and couldn’t fault any of it, brilliant presentation and very tasty and cooked to perfection. Staff were really nice and got my food out quite quickly. Definitely come back here again!

Poor staff numbers, manners and attitude. Lengthy wait to be served and to order food and drinks at a pre booked lunch visit. Posh fish and chips was a lot of batter hiding black skin which had not been removed and containing only a very thin sliver of fish.

Terrible - do not go here. We came into the pub to have a few drinks and some food. We ordered food, and it arrived over an hour later with no apology. It wasn’t remotely overly busy, and we saw a) the chef wondering around the restaurant and b) multiple delivery drivers coming in to collect takeaway orders. Clearly takeaway orders are prioritised which doesn’t make sense - a few reviews say the same thing. When the waitress appeared with our food, she went to the wrong table, and put down the food. We watched as a man on this table started to eat our chips - in front of the waitress - only to then admit it wasn’t his food. The waitress then picked up the food, and brought it over to us and attempted to serve it as if she wasn’t aware a man had just been eating it. Had we not pointed this out, or had we not seen this, she’d have happily served us with this. When we pointed it out, she didn’t apologise and simply went and replaced the chips. Food was average at best - not worth an hours wait. The staff in this restaurant are completely apathetic to customers and we certainly won’t be returning. They seem to think over an hours wait for food is the norm - it’s not, especially not for the food in this restaurant. I’m not even convinced our chips were exchanged because she came out pretty quickly with them (not in line with their usual waiting times!)

Very disappointed with the service here. Went in for something to eat. Ordered food. Ordered on an outside table and it got cold so went inside and let the bar staff know where we had relocated to. They took our food to the table next to us where the guy ate some chips off my plate then decided to tell the waitress it wasn’t his food, after watching him eat the chips. The woman then came over us with the exact same food and wasn’t going to replace the chips until i had to point out I had watched the person next to me eat the chips. The woman don’t apologies and was going to press like nothing had happened. Not acceptable after waiting an hour for food. Seems like delivery drivers get priority over people int he bar. The kitchen seems to be seriously under staffed!

First order of the evening never got accepted for some reason. Second try was here, to which Just Eat couldn't assign a driver for half an hour which resulted in the food arriving cold.

Ordered haddock with chips, peas and tartare sauce. Did not receive the peas or tartare sauce so a little disappointing. Otherwise, nice fish and nice chips.

Nice food, but expensive (over £65 for a family of 4) and the service was slow. An hour's wait from ordering main meal to getting it, then over half an hour wait for desert.

Cozy place, great staff, great food. There is a pub quiz every Wednesday, so booking is highly recommended.

Worse food ever stake with peas no mushroom no tomato food was late and cold do not recommend

Went here for a family meal, we all had the carvery meal with the dessert. The food was excellent, portion sizes are good, just managed to eat my dessert. The service was excellent and staff were friendly and helpful. For 6 people it was reasonably priced. Would recommend.

The rainbow lasagne was amazing and also the dauphnoise potatoes,table was ready for us , served really quickly,friendly staff. Found the wooden chairs quite uncomfortable.

Booked for 12oclock lunch. Two course menu. Ordered the gammon, they were out of stock...it was a Tuesday and not very busy. Took 20 minutes to get the soup and a further 30 min for the main. Chicken breast, very small and dry. Hadn't been to the Victoria since Ember inns took over , very disappointed , shan't go again.

Booked Victoria at quite short notice for a small wake, with buffet. We had an enclosed area for privacy, with good service throughout. Buffet (silver option) was on time, very generous and tasty. Prices were extremely reasonable on both food and drink. Decor somewhat 'chain pubby', but the building itself is quite imposing, with an excellent beer garden and covered outdoor areas. Staff very friendly, so thank you all.

Waited nearly 90 minutes for food, to then not receive my order. Had to wait an extra 15 minutes. For food to appear, seemed a problem when I said I wasn't paying for my burger, seeing as everyone else had finished their tea. Customer service is absolutely diabolical.

Despite living very close by, I have no intention to visit here again for while.... The service has become painfully slow and we have often waited over an hour for food / drinks in the restaurant - yet they are still offering take-away orders! Why on earth are they offering a take-away service if they can't even keep up with orders inside the restaurant?! Suggest the take-away service should stop until you get more staff! Update: I called up in response to the comment below and was promised a voucher, that I never received. Not great!
