Best chippy in Newark - their Doner meat is something else,. The potato fritters are exceptional too.

It is a takeaway but as we had to wait, when food was ready they brought it out to us as we were in a Motorhome.

Best chippy in town! No vegan options and very limited vegetarian unfortunately but it's chips I'm after so that's OK!

Popped in today at lunchtime, and the cod was freshly cooked as we waited, it was prepared quickly. The fish was lovely and the chips were great and freshly made too. Great friendly staff too. Recommended. 😊

1st time ive been to this chippy as I fancied fish and chips for tea as I was on my way back home from stock car racing at skeggy and it was really nice and fresh as fish being cooked on order I will certainly keep in mind when passing again as its certainly worth calling in so keep up the quality food

Ordered a kebab from here in my ongoing quest to find the best kebabs in Newark. Nice big portion of salad but only a small portion of meat. Everything came in the same cardboard container unlike other places I've ordered from which pack the meat, salad, and sauce separately; as a result, everything was soggy. The worst part was the naan bread however, it was hard as a rock and inedible, you would have had an easier time chewing cardboard. Note that I made the same order twice, a month apart, to test whether this was an anomaly or the standard, and it was unfortunately the same both times. The chips were nice, at least, being proper chip shop chips. As I ordered through foodhub I left a review to the above effect... and got a defensive, rude response from the shop claiming I had tried to get a refund and/or free food. I had never attempted to contact them or spoken to them at all, I'd simply taken the loss on my order(s) and left an honest review (as you're supposed to!) so that other people know what to expect when ordering. I would have scored them higher were it not for this awful attitude. Really did not leave a good impression at all.

Order quite regularly but disappointed tonight. Ordered 2 combination kebabs expecting mixed meat but mainly donner with a few pieces of chicken and lamb. Should have just bought a donner kebab instead of expensive 12 pound combination kebabs. Asked for no onion as makes me poorly, salad full of onion. Not happy at all tonight

Have been doing for years because food was of a high standard. Unfortunately on this occasion the food was disgusting.the chips were cold and tasted like cardboard the fish was soddened with grease saveloy was uncooked and cold the doner meat was also greasy will not be returning.

This is our local, and we wouldn't choose to go anywhere else. We regularly get the Sunday lunch deals. The staff have always been lovely and everything is always freshly prepared to order. 10/10 would recommend.

I orderd cod I wrote it down for him come home with a cob Batter was to hard on the batterd sausage and burger. I also had to wait 10 for he start to do the order's. I did dump it all and get something else. Can not pay with card only cash strange. No more for me.

Food is always yummy. Hubby likes the cheese burger, I enjoy a mixed shish kebab and our son likes his fish and chips or doner meat. Never had a bad meal and the chips are lovely. Delivery is always fast or they tell you if they are busy and give you an idea of time. Service is really good! Staff are nice and always pleasant. Would highly recommend ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Had lunch yesterday which was awful, chips were rock hard, curry sauce was like a stodgy gloop & the battered sausage was awful quality with the batter like chewy cardboard. 2 people serving were like a pair of grim reapers too.

Popped in sunday 4pm, fish and chips and sausage and chips, cash only but they have an atm in the shop luckily. Piping hot and more than enough chips. Lovely.

OK on walking in first thoughts are face-lift required ! Then on ordering find out its cash only...OK so I try the food and again OK but you do go away with a very strong smell of chips, at the toilet it repeats that smell on a wee ! Overall OK but cash and the chip shop after shave that lasts gives it a 3

Absolutely the best fish and chips we have had in a long time.highly recommended. We also had the very tasty onion rings they were delicious and we will definitely be using Victoria Fish Bar again. We phoned the fish bar and had home delivery which arrived on time. A well deserved 5 star review.

The smell of greesy, old fat put me off. Not the first time either as I often walk passed l My youngest friend wanted fish from there, soggy batter, that raw uncooked kind, chips old and refried . Not the best in town and I avoid. Never again

I always get my chicken kebabs form here, staff helpful, friendly Food freshly cooked and very tasty and plenty of it Even tho there has been a slight price increase its still good value for money I personally have not used the Just Eat app as I know that can get busy I do phone my order through for collection and it is always hot and ready This is a Take Away premises only fish and chips is also very nice with mushy peas and curry sauce Highly recommend

Ordered a cheeky kebab on a Friday night for delivery at 1840. It arrived at 1810 luckily we were back in time. Ordered a medium chicken shish kebab No salad and a doner kebab. Arrived not only early but luke warm. Started to eat the chicken shish had two small pieces and discovered a load of doner meat underneath packing out the chicken. I don’t like doner meat. I rang the ‘establishment’ thinking I had the wrong order only to be cut off the first time l rang. I Rang back and was told that if there was no salad he puts doner meat in. We have had this kebab before and that has never been the case. I said I don’t like doner meat he said ring back after 8 as he was busy and couldn’t deal with it! After I took the doner meat out of the tub there was less about a thud of chicken. Not good. This isn’t the first time they have messed up cheaper chicken worse service. Third strike and they are out. Worst service ever. If you don’t want good service and value for money this is the place for you.

I have to say the staff in there are really nice and friendly, as yet not had fish and chips from there but have a family kebab meal often I have not been disappointed I prefer to collect and order my food directly rather than the just eat app but that is me freshly cooked portion size great I have reccomend this to friends and they have also enjoyed the food. It can get busy with orders from the Just Eat app and traffic for delivery can be an issue hence why I prefer to collect

The worst fish, chips and peas I've ever had. And I mean EVER! The fish was dry, the batter had a weird taste to it, far too many chips and not very good - lukewarm at best. The peas were more like a puree! Never again - not ever. Just the most revolting meal I've had in a long while. We left most of the meal and had crackers and pate.

Fieat time ordering. Great customer service but unfortunately that's all that there was. Onion rings were soggy chips were just cooked and had no flavour and ouly and the onion rings were swimming in oily. Also chips and onion rings tasted the same which I can't saw tasted nice at all.

Save your money and eat at home. Pukka pie had very little filling and was cold. Chips under cooked and fish batter indescribable as a food source. Used to serve good food years ago dont know what happened but now it's a total loss I wont be spending g my money there again

First time ordering from here had cod , chips and mushy peas gravy so tasty got full up but went back to finish bit cold still tasty without gulp on gum . Cod batter so light will definitely order again .

I've been a regular here for a few years. I started using their online website to order. It's very glitchy. But I usually persevere and get it to work Tonight was no exception and I never got a confirmation email with my order. So I placed another order. The guy turns up with two orders, both paid for apparently. I sent one back as can't eat two. I still DO NOT have a confirmation email or an order number for the first order. I have checked my bank and it has charged me. I rang Victoria fish bar and they wouldn't refund me said I had to go through the website. The website sends you in circles because my glitch isn't listed. It states wait for a confirmation email then proceed, or if you don't get one make another order (which I did) as the first one hasn't gone through (but mine has!) so I'm stuck in a grey area and noone will help or refund me. I therefore won't be ordering again. The glitch is their issue, as it has happened on a few phones, not just this one. Yet I'm paying the price for it. It's a shame as they've lost a loyal customer over this. I won't recommend them as I don't think it's fair. It's wasted just shy of £17 for me, it would have been far less to them.

Exceptionally clean and good food

Really poor quality. Paid £17.70 and got lukewarm chips, fish with partly cooked batter that had mostly come off by the time we got home. I was initially encouraged as the cook said I would have a short wait because he had to cook the fish to order. I'm not sure but I think what happened was that a pushy customer that arrived after us got our fish (and left within minutes whereas we had a long wait).
