Ordered in advance three large fish and chips. On arrival food not prepared, uber driver’s took priority and made to wait a further 25 minutes, while a mother in the queue getting extremely angry with her disabled child. When finally fish was done discovered that the fish was extremely small. Fed up demanded my money back only to be given a lot of verbal abuse by the young staff. Will never go there again.😡

Best chippy in Barry by far. Got the 20 cod bites deal earlier and my god, they're massive and it's probably going to feed us for the next week!

This used to be my favourite chip shop in Barry, but it's gone downhill in a very, very bad way. First of all the size and quality have decreased and prices have gone up. I could put that down to the cost of living increases and cope with it, but what I will not accept is the change in customer service. Last time I visited I entered and no one greeted me or acknowledged my presence. I stood for about 5 minutes watching as the school-aged children did their delivery order preparation. Throughout this time, even though they were standing right in front of me, they did not make eye contact, did not speak, they just went about their business. Eventually it was time for them to communicate with the customer. They spoke, took my order, gave me my chips. I put that down to the fact they were school kids and everyone has to start somewhere. I decided to give them the benefit of the doubt before editing my formerly good review. Then came today's visit, which was the last straw. I entered the shop. Five girls were stood chatting at the back of the shop. No one looked my way. Eventually, a couple of them broke off from their group and started preparing orders. Still no eye contact. Nobody acknowledged that I even existed. Five minutes of waiting and I caught a glimpse of inside the covered chip drawer - it looked like there weren't many chips, but I hadn't taken a good enough look. I kept waiting, with my eyes fixed on the drawer. One of the silent girls revealed her speaking ability as she opened the drawer and asked someone in the back to push the last few chips to the front for her to scrape out. They left me and other customers waiting with no communication *and no chips*! Would it have killed them to have greeted me as I entered? Would it really hurt business to let customers know how long it would be until fresh chips would be ready, giving the option to return later or wait? I cannot give my custom to such a poorly run shop and can no longer recommend it with my review. Please improve your service and I will come back.

First time ordering and it was great. Food arrived hot and the chips were the best I’ve had in a LONG time. Victoria park pies were spot on too! Price is good and plenty of food for the money.

This shop has gone right downhill. Small cod was no bigger than a fish finger, chips greasy with lots of bad potato bits, awful meal and expensive

Spent £20 and was unedable fish in batter saturated in fat and was the size of a fish finger soggy horrible batter that was totally stuck to wrapper and unuseable and the peas freezing cold and the chips and curry sauce squashed to death worst food in barry lately

Really disappointing food tonight. The fish was ok but the chips were pale, soft and oily. I know that they can do better than this but I also know that other chip shops can too. I won’t be back.

Not as good as it was 2 years ago

I had a large cod and chips and a small medium irish curry sauce. Chips were crisp and had a good flavour, the curry was cold, the batter on the cod was crisp and lots of grease. My fish was far from large at best a small fish and in some parts had no fish in whatsoever. Staff took my order, being the only customer in the shop then it filled up, I saw my fish come out and after a good 10 minutes spoke to the woman to serve my food and was spoken to like an idiot that didn't know fish was cooked fresh and it took a few minutes. I have been 3 times and 3 times the fish was the same. Definitely won't be wasting £10.35 for that rubbish again.

I use this chippy around once every 2 weeks. Staff are nice and friendly the shop is kept clean and tidy. The food is nice and hot, I feel the food used to taste a little nicer last year however the food still tastes good. Highly recommended

Yesterday I had the nicest fish and chips I have ever had and I am 75.I went in at 4 o'clock and I was a bit worried that I would get the re-fried chips from lunchtime.I watched the happy cheerful staff filling the salt and vinegar and doing all the tasks to get ready for the rush.I paid a bit less than I had expected and went home.When I saw my meal I was stunned,perfectly cooked cod in crisp batter and chips to die for.You must support this shop ,I know there are hard times ahead but lets support this shop.

Used to be great but unfortunately can’t no longer recommend. 2x large fish bite meals, only 3 out of 10 had visible signs of fish. Understandably the prices have increased but the fish sizes have decreased, bought large fish meal last night, fish thin, soggy batter. Lots of good chips though and decent staff.

Just always be aware of your surroundings! Am not referring to staff!!!

Always polite and always busy. Easy to order and walk in. Website allows pre ordering, and worst case if item is sold out by time you arrive, they will always make it up somehow. Plus curry sauce is best around.

Consistently high quality Chish & Fips. Not the cheapest but certainly not the most expensive and in the current climate, it seems everything is going up. Always nice service, clean and tasty. Wouldn't go elsewhere to be honest.

I've have posted plenty of good reviews about Fryer Tuck and deservedly so. Tonight though was not good at all. Pre cooked Cod that was wafer thin and over cooked. Overcooked chips that were warm at best!! It was made worse by a price increase to boot. Shame . Will not be returning!!

I just ordered rice and curry sauce the amount of rice was disgusting I cannot believe I'll little rice they gave usually the container is full I don't know what went wrong this time I'm it's usually beautiful food I won't be going there again and it was £4.20 curry sauce lovely as for the rice very little.

Didn't find it lived up to 4 or 5 star reviews myself I'm afraid. Took ages to get served, I felt my being there was an unwanted inconvenience to the staff!. Food was average, fish was small and thin and for what it was ,it is very expensive.

Just picked up some food to drop off to family who are shielding. Very dissapointed when they opened 2 of the box's of Fish and Chips. I generously gave a 2 because the young lady who served was very good.

Extremely disappointed with the food. Large cod, chips and mushy peas. All unedible. The batter on the cod was hard, couldn't cut it. The fish was appalling. Dried out. Chips were soggy, mushy peas had been watered down! Fish and chips usually are excellent. They have refused a refund. I will never use Friar Tuck again. Caterers cannot serve food like this and get away with it. Disgusting!!!!!!

Food here is really good. Really enjoy a pie and chips, gravey and chips on a tray or fish and chips from here. Mmmm. Washed down with some cola.

Not used this chippy before but it's close to my wife's work .she had pie and chips and I had fish cake and chips.my fish cake was burnt underneath and the chips looked like some were from earlier .put us off returning .

First visit recently. Chips were tepid, the mushy peas undercooked and the fish fillets very thin. Plus, the attitude of the staff behind the counter stinks. I was ignored and people behind me in the queue served before me, because I was "standing in the wrong place".

Always amazing service food is piping hot and taste amazing. So worth the money and extra drive
