Our first visit here, to celebrate our anniversary, and it couldn’t have been a better choice. A fantastic culinary evening with the Signature Tasting menu. Beautifully presented, delicious, and some challenging (in a good way) dishes. Unlike some fine dining restaurants, the portion sizes were generous, and each course was flavourful and interesting. A great evening with fantastic food and service. Thank you to Chef Jono for the personalised touch for our anniversary. Highly recommend.

Visited last night, what an amazing evening. Each course was superb with hidden flavours and textures, favourite course changed each time the next course arrived. The drinks pairing worked so well providing some interesting choices. Great relaxed atmosphere, Darcy and Ben looked after us so well. All ready looking to go back.

We had the 5 course tasting menu and sadly it fell below both our expectations. The first course of sea bass was over powered by a very sweet chilli sauce that tasted all too familiar of shop bought sauces. A lighter version would be better. The ‘not onion soup’ had some gorgeous flavours but the narrow serving dish complicated the experience. The fish dish was very good indeed. The pork was utterly delicious but the desert was so sweet it was inedible.

I think after years of tasting menus , myself and my wife have finally gone of the idea. The starter was ok but the sweet chili sauce had nothing exciting about it, similar to a shop bought sauce. One course just tasted like bombay mix and a foam, style over substance I think. The meat course was delicious and the dessert was nice. We also went for the wine pairing. The wines were nice but I felt the description of them all was pretty similar. I think more about the region, type of grape, history of the wine making is more interesting than telling me what to expect to taste. I think its good for the customer to work that out and then discuss after , just a suggestion. The main disappointment was not seeing Chef Jono in the kitchen when we dined. I understand everyone needs time away but the name is above the door. The amount of front of house staff seemed extreme for the amount of customers, but this did give us good service. The bill was hefty and we left averagely satisfied. Our days of tasting menu's are over.

Delightful experience. We had the 5-course menu which had variety, invention and taste. Fun to watch this talented chef at work with his team. The young servers were professional, attentive and friendly. A very enjoyable evening...apart from the steep flight of stairs! 5*

If you haven’t been then you are missing out! This is now Leeds’ leading restaurants. Chef Jono and his team make high-level dining look effortless. The menu is amended for the different seasons and hones in on a variety of culinary skills. We went for the 7 course tasting menu and every course was sublime. The staff are well trained, they are friendly, communicate well but are not intrusive. We had the drinks pairing, unusual to have little cocktails and sake along the way, but well matched and explained by the, bar team. I’m looking forward to trying out their Sunday lunch! If you haven’t been, you should go! Food ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Service ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Ambience ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Loved the evening from start to finish. We has the Signature Tasting Menu with Wine Pairing and every course and drink was an experience to remember. There was the perfect amount to eat and drink with the courses on offer. The food was exceptional - some of the best I have experienced and the drink pairings tested the palate as we would wanted. We had a fantastic evening - we will return.

Quirky corner shaped entrance leads you up some very steep stairs (not for the faint hearted) to this intimate dining area, all with a great view of the Pass and Chef Jono presiding over each course. Chef Jono and his staff welcoming, attentive and knowledgeable, especially the sommelier. The extensive tasting menu was very well paired with cocktails and wines. We’ve always gone with an open mind and to always place trust in the Chef and immerse yourself in their vision and this certainly didn’t disappoint. Cured Sea bass was stunning and this was followed by Ox tongue which presented some apprehension until we dived in to the bone marrow shaped pot and was blown away with the texture and flavours. The “Not French Onion soup” was a great take on traditional flavours but delivered in an imaginative and hearty way. Masala Fish with delicately spiced lentils packed a nice punch. We have seen some previous reviews on the mushroom tiramisu and quite frankly unjustified, go with an open mind and for us was one of the stars of the show!! If we may offer some constructive pointers, try and slow down service between courses and allow the guests to savour the previous dish before moving on with the next one… just a couple of minutes between each will suffice. Plus if we are being extremely “picky” the restaurant will need to upgrade the quality of bathroom hand towels and remove the industrial sized toilet roll dispenser to please any Michelin Star adjudicator. On a lighter note, the music was to our liking, not too loud, but remember this is Chef Jono’s place and you can catch him singing along! A nice touch was a signed menu by Chef Jono celebrating our Wedding Anniversary and his willingness to have a photo with us and a chat. Overall, a wonderful dining experience and we will be back for the Sunday Lunch experience soon!! Thanks all!

Excellent first experience at Chef Jono! We booked for the Sunday dinner menu and we were not disappointed at all. I had the pescatarian option and my partner had the meat option, both excellent and very well presented. We didn’t have the drinks pairing but others around did and the measures looked great! Certainly not half a slip of wine and you’re done. All the staff were friendly with warm smiles and knew all about the dishes. Chef Jono was in the kitchen and took the time to say hi and bye to each person that came through the door. All we kept saying was how much nicer the whole experience/food was compared to our trip to Man Behind the Curtain! So impressed we have booked to come back again with family.

Really had no idea what to expect as was unaware of the restaurant. We only chose to go as had been bought a gift voucher which needed using. On arrival we climbed a steep staircase up to the 2nd floor of a rather uninspiring building in the north part of the city centre. It felt rather unwelcoming at first. I have to say I just could not get over how bland, cold and cheap the interior felt. I had my back to the kitchen and in front of me I had the view of an empty drink fridge, and what I can only describe as an old office door with striped privacy glass which was crowned with a cream dated air con unit. It felt like a cross between an old drinks bar/ club and an old office. Totally lacklustre and underwhelming. The bar was dark and had no back light. Almost looked like it was closed. To top It off the music system was awful. Really Cheap sound system with such bad volume and balance I could barely hear the soft quiet voice of the gent trying to describe our wine pairing. The music choice was bizarre and not very fitting eg rod Stewart and other old 80/90s ballads. When we were seated we were given the signature menu and wine list. I was annoyed that they withheld the 5 course menu option and I had to ask for this. This felt stealth and sneaky. The service felt rushed. Next courses and wine with pairing was bought straight after finishing previous. A few more minutes would have been good in between. Overall. The food was delicious and I can’t fault this. The drinks were also lovely. The cutlery felt cheap and too light weight, but the plates/ bowls were really cool. The cheese board was amazing and very highly recommended. Definitely a two person board. I work in hospitality and it had lots of ticks, but for me I personally would not return or recommend purely due to the fact the ambience and decor was nowhere near the expected standard. If this were changed and improved it could be far more recommendable

We came on a special day for our family, as it was our firstborns memorial. We travelled an hour there & an hour back to be there. Every single member of staff were brilliant. Knowledgeable, professional, friendly & up for a laugh! They were all, positive & smiley! The timings were perfect! We did not feel rushed nor were we clock watching. Each dish delicious & very generous for a tasting menu, not what you usually find! Bonus! The wine pairing was fab! Each glass thoroughly explained, like the dishes, excellent information. Exactly the right amount you would expect was served. We felt very comfortable & relaxed. Wonderful surroundings & not too warm or too cold. Would highly recommend & have been, to everyone we've spoken to! Thank you to you all! My husband is a Chef & hard to please but he rated quite a few of your dishes very highly & his words were 'that's a bit of me that is'!

Unfortunately, it's called fine dining and trying hard to be so. Staff were friendly and accommodating but simply scripted, robot like, and quick to rush away incase you asked them more about the dish. Courses were rushed to you and also rushed away, (some thankfully so). We have been lucky enough to eat at a few establishments at this price point but this unfortunately doesn't live upto the others. Quite large portions for a tasting menu and served in such quick succession. Maybe it was just a bad week for the team. The different courses didn't compliment or challenge and often were stodgy, overly rich and mediocre. The fish was glassy, tasteless and overwhelmed by A strong curry sauce sprinkled with packet Bombay mix. The not onion soup was also not A risotto, no flavour balance and hard work to enjoy. Roast pork was tender and juicy but the sauces and compliments offered nothing to cut through the fat or richness. A sprinkling of coffee seemed an odd and unwelcome addition. The best dish was was the beetroot, walnut and goat cheese tart, a simple classic dish that worked. This was the first dish and unfortunately it was downhill after this. A five course taster may have worked better and was indeed advertised as a menu but not available when we arrived. An experience but only the once. As I said there are many good reviews and perhaps we were unfortunate to catch the team in a bad patch.

We were expecting a great meal. Booked for us and our 2 adult children (23 & 25) Food and wine flight were rushed. We hadn't finished our wine before the next course arrived. Food was disjointed and uninspiring. We all have good appetites but were outfaced by a disproportionate amount of food Disappointed Sat down at 6.30, left by 840. £730 and we felt rushed.

Unfortunately, we were rather disappointed with our visit. Whilst the food was amazing, the staff were not. On arrival, after climbing the 99 steps, we were eventually greeted by a member of staff who was rather wooden, seemed a scripted speech that did not come naturally, we were put on the table in the corner by the door. We were squashed up side-by-side, which was really uncomfortable. There were several empty tables for two in the room, so we asked if we could move, we were immediately told this was not possible as these tables were already booked by others. There were no reserves on any of them, in fact, one wasn’t even set. A few minutes later, we were moved to the unset table and we were happier. We were offered drinks, and our first course arrived, the minute we finished the plates were whipped away and the next one arrived. It was all very rushed. All the staff seemed like they were speaking a scripted speech and were all very wooden. We ordered drinks and they were forgotten we had to ask again, all in all the service was poor, clunky. The atmosphere and decor was cold,

We have experienced a number of tasting menus and regularly dine at this price point. I think before we attended the restaurant we had an expectation due to the hype around this place. On arrival, the restaurant feels exclusive, if not a little poky. Biggest positive is that the staff are very attentive: If not overbearing. The food was hit and miss: mostly a miss, for us. The mushroom tiramisu was frightful if nothing else, and the onion soup felt like a cop-out: so gloopy with a hidden slop of risotto at the base. The chef seems to have a sweet tooth. I think only 2 of the dishes were remotely savory, while everything else was very sweet. The courses were served at alarming succession. As we struggled to finish the last 4 dishes, the waitress acknowledged that most people struggle, and offered to put our mushroom tiramisu in a box for takeaway. A scary thought! We had the drinks pairing along with the taster. The volume of alcohol served was enough to sedate a horse. My suggestion would be to halve the alcohol.

Beautifully intimate venue, knowledgeable friendly staff, attentive without ever being intrusive which would all be lovely, but the food is just wonderful. Right from the snacks of Beetroot, Goats Cheese and Walnut tart that came in pastry so perfect it was barely believable. The Sea Bass Crudo, possibly one of the best things I've ever eaten and so it continues, Ox tongue, Fish, Risotto, Pork Belly. Moreover my partner had the vegetarian menu and it was just as if not more creative, inventive and tasted exceptional the Confit Artichoke particularly brilliantly done. Had with the Drinks pairing which perfectly complimented each course. A final special mention for the Mushroom Tiramisu which was a dessert like no other. Exceptional all round, thank you.

We have been to this restaurant quite a few times and I would thoroughly recommend going if you haven't tried it. Chef Jono is such a nice guy and he is so talented. His food is just outstanding. We visited on a Saturday so had the signature tasting menu. The menus are changed regularly so there is always something new to try. Each dish is explained to you and is always presented beautifully and the food combinations are just amazing. We thoroughly enjoyed every course that we had, everything was so different. The service throughout the evening was fantastic. All the staff are so lovely and make you feel welcome and valued. You can opt for the drinks pairing which we have had on a previous visit. Alternatively there is a drinks menu which has a great choice of wines and champagnes. Thank you to Chef Jono and his brilliant team for another outstanding evening.

This was our second visit to V and V and again, we were not disappointed by the, yet again, outstanding food, service and atmosphere. The team of staff are a credit to Chef Jono and made the whole dining experience a pure joy! Great music, “out of this world” food and fabulous atmosphere. Each dish on the menu is exquisite so it’s hard to say which we enjoyed the most. There are hidden surprises in each of the dishes, which, if you’re“foodies”, you’ll love discussing the dishes for months after your visit. Definitely worth a regular visit to see a master chef and his team at work.

What a fabulous night from start to finish. Lovely warm welcome from really friendly and knowledgeable staff. The playlist was so good and the restaurant had such a vibrant atmosphere. We were a table of 4 and all agreed the ambience was spot on. Tasting menu was incredible with every course delivering a new taste sensation. The only thing we couldn’t agree on was our favourite course and we were still discussing this at breakfast time! Chef Jono 3rd visit was as good as the first and we can’t wait to come back!

Wow, what an experience! An unassuming entrance with floors and floors of stairs. The wait staff were professional, friendly and polite. The food was exceptional, with the petit four there were 10 courses. I'd originally booked for the 5 course half price Black Friday deal @ £45 each, but the full 7 course menu was on the table, so I thought, oh well it's Christmas. First 2 courses were malt loaf with salted butter and a savoury jammie dodger. Tasty 3rd course was oyster and something else, delicious. 4th course was beef tongue. In a marrow bone, with parmesan espume, delicious 5th course was Jono's take on quiche Lorraine, delicious. 6th course was Not French Onion soup. Absolutely excellent. I had to take a pause after the first mouthful and relish in the fabulous flavour. 7th course was lamb. My personal favourite. Quite a large portion and exceptionally tasty. 8th course was a lemon dessert. So sharp, so tasty 9th course was mushroom tiramisu. What? I hear you say. Yes, mushroom. Umami all the way. So tasty, so good, so filling. Well worth the money, for the experience and for the talent of Jono. And to cap it all, Jono was there. I don't know if he's there all the time but it's unusual for the head chef to be present. A nice surprise. And I shook his hand.

We came here to celebrate our wedding anniversary as we love tasting menus, especially with wine pairings. There was a wonderfully welcoming vibe here, a great musical soundtrack in the background will put anyone at ease. The service was exceptional with detailed descriptions of food and drink alike and we were seated right by the kitchen where the magic happened. Sometimes people feel that they’d be still hungry after a tasting menu but there’s no chance of that here with generous portions of some sumptuous flavour sensations from start to finish. I would really recommend this for that special occasion. It feels exclusive, with seating for 30 of so covers, yet without the pretentiousness that can often be associated with such gourmet evenings. We booked for 8pm but I’d recommend a little earlier if you’d like a little longer between courses although we never felt rushed at all. It was great to see Chef Jono and have a very brief chat (especially about the mushroom tiramisu) and he signed a menu for us as an anniversary treat. We’ve experienced several taster menus in the uk and beyond and recommend here without reservation and it’s an excellent addition the Leeds food scene. If you’re thinking about it, go for it, you’ll love it!

Finally got around to visiting this fantastic restaurant, and we weren’t left disappointed! The signature menu that we were served had a great balance between dishes, served in really good time (not too quick, or too slow). The staff were fantastic/attentive, and overall, the restaurant just has a really good vibe. Chef Jono could be seen at the pass, ensuring every dish was sent out to perfection! Believe all the hype and reviews, because this chef/restaurant is fantastic, and for what I believe to be a really reasonable price!

Overall I enjoyed the meal we had at Chef Jono V&V. The staff and service were friendly and attentive, they also gave us a signed menu because it was my girlfriend's birthday which was a nice touch. The venue is situated up quite a long set of stairs so if you have accessibility issues it's worth checking in advance. Now on to the food - I'd describe it as unique and inventive. All the dishes were enjoyable with the highlights being the jammie dodger chicken liver mouse and the not French onion soup which was a twist on a rissotto. The vitello tonato with the beef fat crackling was tasty too but I wish they provided a wet wipe with it because my fingers were greasy after handling it. So my main criticism was that a lot of the dishes were quite rich, I felt like I ate a lot of creamed cheese that night and the speed at which the dishes came out was just too quick to let the food settle. When the waiter came over before the last dish (mushroom tiramasu) and asked if we wanted a ten minute break, I sighed relief and good job I did. Again the dish was rich and at first tasted weird - I got a mouthful of mascarpone cheese that was topped with porcini powder which tasted like a dry powdered oxo cube. It wasn't unpleasant but I didn't really know what to think. It was only when I dug in to the chocolate that the dish balanced itself out. Now I get that complaining about being too full after a meal is a first world problem (and it is) but after the last dish I really couldn't stomach any more food. The waiters checked if we brought jackets and saw us out with a smile and a goodbye. So yes, a good night overall. Tasty food, good service, glad we went.

Best fried egg north of the Severn Estuary! Recently moved to Somerset but wanted to show off my Leeds credentials to my other half. Tribeca City Cafe fulfilled all expectations with a superb full English breakfast and coffees to match, all served promptly with refined professionalism. Had a friendly chat with the owner who definitely deserves your custom if you're anywhere nearby. If you can find your way to the magnificent Leeds Town Hall then this superb basement gem of a cafe is only a few yards away. Extra tables at street level also if the sun shines. You won't be disappointed!
