Verve Grill in Cardiff

I've been on two dates here, with the same girl. Highly recommend as it's a pretty chill, low maintenance date option. However, the order app never seems to work for me... and twice now, they forgot to bring over my partners wine. Both are not a major issue, I really like the place and will no doubt come back again. Oh, parking is free for up to 4 hours.

Dont go to the bar with anything left on your table as it will be cleared before you turn around

The food was really good. Last time I was there was probably a year ago and the food was OK’ish. This time round the food was much better and I noticed that they changed the menu (of course they would in the space of a year🤣🙈). Quite a good place for watching footy, as large screens everywhere. Also, I was driving so only had non alcoholic beer and was surprised with Corona Zero. Unfortunately, I was starving so did not take any photos of food🤣😎

Shockingly long wait for food. We were advised it would be an hour wait but two hours later the food arrived. We had to leave the desserts we paid for as the kids had to get to bed. Food was expensive pl, poor quality that had probably just been microwaved and definitely not worth the wait. Will definitely not be eating here again. Must be massively understaffed as it wasn’t even busy on the Sunday evening when we visited.

I have been a member of the Village Gym for over 10 years and have eaten at the on site Grill/ Bar many times. Today I popped in for some lunch post work out and had the most amazing service from my server Michelle. Not only was she extremely friendly and helpful but her enthusiasm and efficiency was incredible. She is an asset to the Village. The food was very good as always. I would highly recommend this place to friends.

Sunday lunch was exceptionally good on the first day of the new menu Craig , freddie, sian , Rachel and Mikey provided great service Thank you all so so much for making our celebrations go so smoothly

Bloody awful service! Waited ages to get food to table and when it arrived the SPECIFIC items we requested not to be in the food (and were reassured that Pyle not be), were indeed there! Obviously they don’t care about their customers requests or dietary requirements! Much better cafes and restaurants just a 5-minutes drive down the road!

American style sports bar. Limited menu with nearly everything being deep fried and with chips. I had a fish finger wrap as not keen on fried food. It was ok but expensive. Low ceilings and 1/3 full and it was very noisy. Sky football playing with volume on several TV's. I don't recommend it unless for a younger clientele.

Awful. Not everyone wants the football blasted so loud your booked party can't even socialise with eachother until it was over! Food was served disjointed and cold/ tepid, all except for the one child, whose meal came late and scolding hot! No selection of drinks for said toddler, except a really awful shade of orange squash! And couldn't have the first choice of ice cream on the child's menu either!!! Food was poor value for the money! 5 prawns a best in the protein bowl! Poor service, awful roudy atmosphere, and poor quality! Not that clean either! Very dissatisfied.. and won't be returning... Shame as we thought we may of found a venue for a middle point family get together! 😔

The chef should be ashamed of these burgers... only a third of the size of the bun they are served in. The cheek of the price of the meal too... they only get 2 stars because the chips were delicious. Shame shame shame serving burgers looking that sad though 😞

Terrible service, seen by all the staff waiting at the entrance but then ignored for over 5 mins. Entered and spoke to the manager who said he was busy serving customers. Finally offered a table and asked if we were eating, then told food service had stopped!? Restaurant was not busy but service was slow, staff gave the attitude of not wanting to be there - just so poor around.

Absolutely shockingly slow service. Had to stand at entrance for 10 mins before 1 of the bar staff deigned to come over. Then too half hour to order. Would have walked out if we weren't staying.

Used to be a regular place of mine to go, but haven't been here in a while and I probably won't go back. The bar and restaurant are now combined and have sky TV practically all through the area. Now call me old fashioned but when I go out to relax, I don't want to sit watching sports on uncomfortable seats, with food that tastes as though they rushed cooking it. My drink was served with ice in a separate glass, as the barman didn't ask if I wanted it and my friends drink wasn't fizzy (I think they needed to change the carbon dioxide). So go here if you enjoy sport. Don't go here if you want a lovely quiet meal.

We went on Thursday and it being half term it was bit crowded. We had to book the table in advance. When we were given a table, the person who took us to the table warned us that the food will take atleast an hour. It took an hour for our food to come out. However, everything looked tasty. We ordered the peri peri stack which was really nice and tasty. The chicken at places was a bit tough. The dessert were tasty too. They have good tasty choices, looked like the katsu curry was quite popular.

Really good service and really good large plate pub type food. Would definitely recommend.

Very busy at times, only 2 people taking orders at the bar so this take a while queuing. You can order and pay online if you don't want to queue but not put the meal to your room so this can be a pain if your staying at the hotel. No phones in the room so no ordering before hand. Only a limited range of beers and one wasn't available.

Staff friendly, beer and food ok. Just a bit overpriced, and nowhere near as good or comfy as when they had the pub on the other side of the building.

Nice food not alot of veggie choice but the veggie wrap is tasty and massive

Fish and mushy peas were amazing chips were ok lil solid in places like they ain't cooked through properly, staff were also amazing.

Food is overpriced and not very good, you'll be given a table for an hour and your food will take half that.

slow service dispite only being a quarter full, had to ask 4 times for the sporting event we came here to see was put on. Had to wait over 30 mins to get channel changed(no other sport was on and TV was on mute) . Very expensive not a nice pint thank god we didn't order food.

I'm not a lover of grill food... my companion was satisfied with our visit.

Nice place I go here regular for a drink which I would of given 5 stars but I had a breakfast here last week and it awful.

First time visit. Had a lovely meal last night. Didn't get the name of the gentleman that served us but he was great, burger and chicken skewers were cooked perfectly. Will definitely return xo

Durante mi estadía en el hotel Village, comí en este restaurante y comí muy bien. Me salté el primer plato pero tuve un Rissotto excelente, cocinado justo. Para postre probé la piña desmenuzada, fue mejor de lo que imaginaba. La calidad de la comida era muy buena, bien hecha y servida por un personal atento, pruébalo.

Visitamos el jueves por la noche y reservamos una mesa por si acaso, llegamos a las 7 pm y nos sentaron con prontitud, el restaurante estaba lleno mientras estuvimos allí. Tuve las paletas de pollo y mi otra mitad tenía el Fritto Miso, ambos eran increíbles, los chillis, las cebolletas y el aderezo con las paletas eran deliciosos. El Fritto miso estaba compuesto por gambas fritas, calamares y calabacines. El rebozado era muy liviano y el tamaño de la porción era enorme para un entrante (foto adjunta) Para platos principales, tuve una hamburguesa 1/2 libras que era enorme, las patatas fritas (más como cuñas) estaban cocinados a la perfección, mi otra mitad tenía los pinchos de carne, la carne era muy sabrosa; 5 enormes trozos de carne marinada! Tenemos pedidos del menú principal, pero tenían una oferta para un jueves - 29 para una comida de 2 platos con un vaso de fizz para 2, que probaremos una semana El servicio fue excelente, todo el personal fue muy amable y hablador, creo que el hombre que nos servía era Andrew, ¡muy educado! Volveremos de nuevo pronto!

Great food, really friendly and helpful staff. Highly recommend the beef skewers, lemon cheesecake and sticky toffee pudding.

limited menu but good service. had the roast rump of lamb which was delicious. in contrast had the chicken on another night and can not recommend it. too big a portion and far too dry. when mentioned to the waitress, she said that lots of people had said the same thing. if that is so, why hasn't it been sorted?!

Very nice quality and excellent service. I nice area for a couples meal more than a family meal. I enjoyed.

As it was pouring with rain, we decided to eat in rather than to go out elsewhere. A great decision. Staff were very welcoming and, having given us enough time to decide on our choices, were back to take our orders. There is not a massive range of choices, but the food is excellent and not over priced. The hummus starter was delicious, but we shared it as there was plenty. The lamb rump and the beef stroganoff were very good and the meats were so tender. Again, very good portions. We shared a dessert too, creme brûlée, which was again delicious. The young man serving us was a credit to the hotel. He was attentive, very pleasant, very efficient but didn't rush us. We found the food to be very good value for money. The breakfast the next morning was also very good. Not as expensive as we have had had in other hotels, but just as good. We would eat here again.

Excellent food and outstanding service by Darren and slight contribution from matthew! Seriously lovely meal, good value and both boys were very helpful. Customer service at its finest! You both deserve a bonus. See you for breakfast. We will be back.

We chose this restaurant due to its close proximity to my place of work. Darren seated us and was great with my five year old daughter. He was friendly and attentive without being too much. Food arrived within a good amount of time and was very good. Kieran took over service and was equally attentive and friendly. I am very impressed with the service, especially as we were not staying in the hotel, but just visiting the restaurant. Would definitely recommend and return! My thanks to Darren and Kieran especially- I work in hospitality myself and understand how important it is for staff to be recognized.

My hubby and I shared a sharing platter ... I had 500 calorie meal of tiger prawns whole-wheat pasta and steamed broccoli it was delicious and very filling. Hubby had the ribs with slaw and fries and struggled to finish. Attentive service from Daryl a credit to the restaurant. Would highly recommend excellent price and even better service.

Whilst staying at Village hotel me and my husbad have had dinner during one of the night at Verve Grill restaurant. We went for the easy option: the burger and it was really tasty. The restaurant looks really nice and the music on the background was lovely. A very nice evning to enjoy.

I went here with a big family group. We each had three courses. The food was all presented well and tasted nice. Dinner for six came to about £250. We all enjoyed our food. Service was good as well. I had the tuna starter, the mussels main, a rocket side salad and the sticky toffee pudding for dessert. I liked everything, but my favorite part of the meal was the dessert. It was quite good. I would eat here again if I was staying at the hotel.

This is an awful place with poor choice. It's on my doorstep so we used to go there often. Earlier this year the bar maid refused to let me order just a bowl of chips for my 7 year old as 'the menu has changed'....
