Vertigo 42 in City of London, Westminster

Vertigo 42 has appeared on Groupon a few times for discounted tickets. Ive visited twice. Nice cocktails and snacks, great views over London. You'll be seated at a window view but you were aloud to walk around, not sure if you'll still be able to after Covid.

Fui allí varias veces y nunca me decepcionó. Gran ambiente, vista impresionante, uno de mis lugares favoritos en Londres.

Mi novio me llevó al vértigo 42 para el té de la tarde de mi cumpleaños en agosto pasado, que era un cupón grupal, lo cual es tan bueno como que no pagaría el precio completo, sí, la vista es fabulosa, pero nos fuimos con hambre. La peor parte fue dejar que un hombre que ni siquiera nos miraba o que hiciera contacto visual dijera algo sobre el pago de la factura del servicio; ¡al principio no nos dimos cuenta de que nos estaba hablando sin contacto visual! Entonces nos sentimos obligados a pagar el cargo por servicio que mi novio pagó sin contacto y se fue; más tarde nos dimos cuenta de que el cargo por servicio se había cobrado junto con el costo del cupón de groupon nuevamente, que obviamente se pagó a través de groupon antes de reservar. Nos contactamos con vertigo 42 a través del correo electrónico para explicar lo que había sucedido y pedimos un reembolso y aún no hemos tenido noticias de ellos, a pesar de haberlos contactado por correo electrónico y haber recibido una respuesta antes de la visita para verificar que las opciones vegetarianas estaban disponibles. ¡No volveré a ir!

Had a great chance to visit that amazing place with a great view of central London for an afternoon tea but some small bits that wanted to share #couldn't find our name on system for booking #about 12 min wait to get first glass of champagne #asked if we have any allergies already when the lady was serving the afternoon tea set #were asked twice by different waiters if we are ready for coffees #chipped coffee cup and boiling hot

We had a champagne afternoon tea with fab views across London. 42 floors up and a clear day so we made the most of the views. It was great to have a glass of champagne on arrival followed by the tea. All seats were next to the window so no excuse for not looking out at the City. A very enjoyable way to spend an afternoon

A most pleasurable outing, fantastic views while enjoying Tea, I dont think we appreciate our capital city until you see it in all its glory from a high vantage point such as this, the tea itself was fine not the best Iv'e had just about enough to satisfy though some may think there could have been more sandwiches on the tray, nice glass of presseco & the service was excellent, would certainly recommend for something a little different & those views certainly add & make this a very enjoyable experience.

A very popular place to be. Not that easy to find main entrance to but once directed was fine smaller and narrower than I imagined, but had fantastic views and you were not rushed to leave.staff were friendly and food and drinks prices were what you would expect Fantastic views which is why we came

Expectation was probably too high and this is why I still give them 3 stars. Entrance is underwhelming with a “slap in your face” raunchy staled air smell and of course astonishing views of the city. Place urgently needs an upgrade and renovation. My drink was too warm for my taste

We went for afternoon tea which was gifted to us ... It was a very cold day and made a huge effert to get there.. the entrance is at the side not easy to find. Once we were on the 42 floor we were welcomed by the staff .. the seats are great as they are all round the windows some are more comfortable than others and yes as many other people we were seated with a view of the roof tops not the river and on the tall seats not the comfortable ones. I requested to be moved so that we had a river view.. and this was accommodated thankfully. The drinks were good quality food was not really enough so extra will need to be ordered .. Tea was also in short supply. Music was too loud ...Overall disappointing they really need to make it such an enjoyable experience that people would want to go back instead of marketing it to make their oneyback in one go!!!.. Views are great of London these are also available at other venues. Yes on leaving you are presented with a bill and service charge of £4.00.. so be prepared..I will not be going back or taking guests there ....

Purchased the champagne afternoon tea voucher from Groupon for me and a friend. The place itself was a little confusing to find as the entrance is tucked away. We then had to walk through an airport security type section which although seemed a bit daunting was reassuring that safety measures are in place. The member of staff who greeted us in the bar was very polite and friendly and the atmosphere inside was relaxed. Unfortunately due to it being busy we didn't get a great view, I liked the way that every seat was in the window but we were taken right round the other side onto stall chairs near the kitchen. The view was ok but would have preferred to be nearer the start where there was more to see and comfier chairs but this can't be helped. Champagne was lovely and went down well! The afternoon tea consisted of 3 sandwiches each, 2 tarts and a scone. In the grand scheme of things it wasn't the best quality and you could tell that other than the sandwiches everything else had been bought in rather than made from acratch. All was tasty though and a good amount of food - didn't leave you feeling uncomfortably full! We spent about an hour in there but were left to ourselves and not rushed. As we left we were presented with a bill for a discretionary service charge, I didn't mind paying this but didn't like the way it was given by the door which then makes you feel awkward and that you can't walk out without paying it. Overall it is worth a visit, relatively cheap day out and something a bit different.

It has a killer view over London! That's why you're there, for the view. Drinks and food are expensive, I don't think it has to be so over the top. It supposed to be a champagne bar, but it is a bit shabby, it could be so much more if they restyled the place a bit. The music was REALLY loud and played terrible club music. If I would run a (classy) champagne bar, I would play some nice jazz or so. They turned down the volume a bit when we asked, but the sort of music really influenced my experience.

A lovely afternoon tea for Valentines Day spoilt by people with loud videos on phones beside us. Although this is not the restaurants fault maybe a sign to stop people disturbing others as you are sat very close together. Staff are very good & the Views are amazing!

We did the Groupon voucher, the staff were great, the views were amazing, the food let it down for me, I’ve had better food on other groupon deals, if they cannot provide a level of food worthy of the location, for the reduced price, they shouldn’t offer the deal.

En los últimos 10 a 12 años he visitado el vértigo, aunque han pasado aproximadamente 4 años desde mi última visita. En ese tiempo se ha cansado, rasgado y golpeado sillas manchadas alfombras. Personal que parece estar desmotivado debido a los alrededores en mal estado.

Make sure if a group they provide a good area together. Food not cheap, quality good, volume reasonable

A great find to sip cocktails over a shared platter. Service was excellent and staff were happy to talk to their customers. A very pleasant experience with fantastic views over London.

Went for afternoon tea on the back of a special offer. Administration of booking efficient. Whilst we arrived early for booking the maitre D was not clear what was included. Whilst view was wonderful the high stool was not ideal. The food itself was edible but very functional and not generous. Compared pootly to the other afternoon teas attended. Could not really recommend it for the food.

This even on a foggy London day this is the place to go for a special treat, and to be treated as if you are the only ones there!!!

When here for afternoon tea, view was great tea was good. The pastries were really nice. This is a great place to bring g people who are not from London as the views are amazing.

I was really looking forward to going to vertigo 42 and I bought this as a gift for my friends birthday, I was utterly disappointed and I would not recommend this place, I was embarrassed and I had to apologise due to the bad customer service and overall experience we received.

We have been impressed with the customer service at Vertigo 42, especially staff member Kasia. She has gone above and beyond, as one of my friends (who is a tourist in London) really wanted to have a river view, but a table was not available initially, as soon as a table became available, we were offered to move to fulfil my friend's request.

Bei einem kleinen Mitragessen die erstaunliche Aussicht über London genießen. Service war etwas überfordert. Die Musik war zeitweise sehr laut, wurde aber auf unseren Wunsch leiser gedreht. Die Vorspeisenplatte und der Cappuccino waren sehr gut.

Service with a smile, friendly and efficient. Fantastic views across London with some of the most famous sights marked out on the tables. Lovely champagne and delicious treats to eat. Definitely recommend this for you to do while in London.

Un posto molto suggestivo. Davvero top. Il menù è minimale, soprattutto da bere ma si può anche mangiare. Sono comunque tutte portate piccole. D’altra parte l’obiettivo non è fare un cenone ma ammirare tutta Londra dall’alto. Caro ma Consigliato.

We went here for champagne and to experience the view of London from in the stars. I must say I was very impressed. I will say it is a little overpriced but well worth a visit at least once but would advise you book in advance

Loved the view as well as the food. Staff were generally friendly. They gave us a place to store our bags. Lots of angles to view London. Food a bit pricey but if youre there for the view then sure to have fun

You don't have to be a Michelin star chef to know that you should serve cheese at room temp - not freezing cold straight from the fridge...

I was there with my husband. We bought voucher through Groupon for two. We had two cocktails and share plate with different kind of snacks, such as, different kind of cheese, olive oils, meat, sausages... I wasn't a dinner, but just snacks with cocktails... we went there in the evening before sunset. We saw amazing view in day time and then after 1 hour - in the dark... It was absolutely incredible view from the 42 floor!!! For this small amount of money! We definitely recommend this place for everyone!! I am buying this kind of vouchers for my friends and family!!

Very pleasant afternoon. Lovely tea (Groupon so very good value). Staff friendly and efficient. What more could you wish for if not up one of the exorbitantly priced neighbours? If you want a nice day, wonderful views, a good value afternoon tea, this is it. Sandwiches, scones ok, little chocolate and orange tarts very yummy! Nice glass of champers (pricey to buy bottle). Not so many frills as big names nearby, but, I loved it and would go back tomorrow.

Amazing views on all sides. Bellini cocktail was excellent. Platter very nice, hummus, salami, olives, pita bread and 3 different cheeses

I was extremely sceptical of this place after reading the reviews but I’m pleased I went and I would defo go back! The entrance is a bit dark and while the decor could be updated, I didn’t really attend to pay attention to the decor, or the fact the chairs aren’t brand new. If you want an amazing view, great service and a cute afternoon tea I would defo recommend. I’ve seen reviews where people aren’t happy with the service charge but when me and my friend went to leave they didn’t demand it simply advised it was optional if we felt the service provided was good. I have no complaints about this visit at all! Don’t be put off by the bad reviews unless of course you’re expecting perfection.

Bought a tapas plate and champagne drinks to my friend as a birthday gift. It was nice to look at the view and enjoy the time. It might be about luck do you get the good side with Thames of London or the average side with other buildings. And if it is rainy or cloudy weather I might think twice because it is not so good view from up there. Food was amazing and so was the drinks!

The venue is tired, shabby & dirty. The floor was filthy & the seats ripped. The food was uninteresting & boring. A complete letdown & would never return.

No discutí acerca de pagar el cargo discrecional 4, pero tuve ganas de señalar que una tarifa discrecional debería ser a discreción del cliente. Aparte de eso, no se dieron cuenta del hecho de que los había contactado por adelantado para decir que no comimos mayonesa de atún. Me habían dicho que esto sería sustituido, y al llegar lo reiteramos, pero aún así me dieron la mayonesa de atún. El servicio era bueno, pero parecía apresurado y el miembro del personal más viejo y adecuado parecía ansioso por quitar los soportes de té lo antes posible. Sin embargo, él envolvió la tarta de chocolate que no podíamos comer, para que nos lleváramos a casa. La selección estuvo bien por el precio, pero no habría pagado el precio completo por esto. Champagne sustituido por un cóctel sin alcohol a petición nuestra.

Toutes les tables sont au bord des vitres et tout le monde a donc une vue sur la ville, ce qui est très appréciable. Came for afternoon tea as a gift from a friend for my 21st birthday.

Fantastic service from start to finish. The staff were very friendly and helpful, as a disabled person they looked after me and my wife from front gate to 42nd floor and back to our car again. That personal touch means a lot. The drinks and nibbles were generous.

Had champagne tea, sandwiches small but tasty, cakes and scones lovely. Did this experience through groupon,think this would have been a bit expensive otherwise, but thoroughly enjoyed the view and experience

Dirty venue, tired chairs with Ikea seat pads to make them more comfortable. Much better ‘high up’ venues nearby - the gherkin, walkie talkie etc. Save your money!

Went there to celebrate a friend important birthday...but it’s been very disappointing..the place was Nothing special...food was ok but very very small portions and everything was very pricey.the view was ok but really nothing special...Not worth it!

This was bought as a gift for my mum's birthday, from a friend. We were made welcome the staff were accommodating as we did ask if we could move round for a view to the Thames, which was no issue for them. .

Amazing views looking out over London and the staff were friendly and efficient. Only downside was the music which I found to be off-putting.

I booked in advance and we were shown past the seats with the views (all taken up) and round the back with a view I could have achieved if I’d gone round to my friend’s apartment. No landmarks, just another building. I moved us to the next table so that we at least didn’t have that view. Service was slow, no one came to welcome us and for the extortionate price we were charged, it was a bitter disappointment. I had booked this for my brother’s engagement celebrations and my parents had come up from Cornwall.

The view is amazing and the round shape of the venue allows to enjoy London at 360 degrees. I had a prosecco and it was overpriced compared to the poor quality. The staff is unfriendly and they welcomed us saying that the minimum price to spend was 15 pounds. Not a great way to introduce them. The place is supposed to be posh and glam but they have to improve in dealing with customers. Anyway worth a visit because of the stunning view.

After an underwhelming experience at a trendy Bermondsey Tapas Bar, I decided to round off the evening at an old stand-by, Vertigo 42 - which my colleague had never previously been to.

Stunning views.... we were also lucky as it was a bright sunny day. Best to book ahead as seating is limited. Helpful staff. Limited menu choice but the food we had was of good quality.

Obviously great views of London (try to get a West looking table). We were give a North looking table at first and the view was pretty flat looking out towards hackney. So we moved at the earliest opportunity.

The ladies working here were pleasant, but the men were very robotic and emotionless. They just brought us the tray of afternoon tea, very poor, small and almost non existent. Everyone had a pot of tea/coffee and sadly we got a small cup each! Then my friend asked for another glass of prosecco and when we went to pay, they wanted to charge us £37 for the 2 glasses of prosecco... SHOCKING!!! This was more than the actual afternoon tea all together... They did not show us a drinks menu and they did not tell us how much it was going to be for each glass. It was disgraceful of them to do this to us. I will never, ever go there again and I will never, ever recommend this place to anyone. They are thieves!!

Entrance dark and eerie, but don't be put off. The views are brilliant. The champagne tea was a gift. The emphasis is on the great view of London. The tea was value for the money. Very simple ambience so don't expect the Ritz! The staff were pleasant and attentive.

Var där på afternoon the med chapagne, utbudet var inte mycket att hurra för, smörgåsarna var vanlig toast med taskig fyllning. Utsikten var det som gjorde besöket värt pengarna.

Stunning 360 views of the city! The sunset is gorgeous. It was a bit hard to find the place but we finally find it after some twist and turn in the middle of the city’s business district on the 42nd floor. We loved the experience. Prices are not too high. Definitely worth a try for everyone even with young kids or just a couple.

Groupon voucher for cocktail and tasting board - might have been a bit pricey otherwose? However, did not disappoint. Attentive staff and decent plate of meat and cheese with humus and olives with pleasant enough cocktail. Views are stunning. Decor a little tired but did not detract from excellent experience overall.

Went to Vertigo yesterday for pre lunch drinks - Welcome was excellent staff friendly and helpful.

Firstly the views are impressive, and the layout maximises this. However there are other places in London that offer equally beautiful views. We booked an afternoon tea with a glass of champagne through Groupon. The drinks were very nice, but the food disappointing, we had 3 finger sandwiches each (just cucumber, tuna and salmi) these were bland and odd selections for afternoon tea. The tarts were lovely and I cannot fault them. However the scones were clearly shop bought and were small and a bit dry. Really we needed more sandwiches or better fillings, we both left feeling disappointed and like we would have been better at pizza pilgrims (restraunt next door), I have had much better afternoon teas elsewhere and they didn't charge me an additional £4 charge in exit (service charge).

Very disappointed. Think you are going to a classy champagne bar - definitely not! Service non existent and staff couldn’t care less. Got told off for arriving 5 mins early and the manager then proceeded to hoover around our feet. Area cold, dark, miserable grey walls and toilet a larger version of what you would get on a plane. Food and drink highly over priced. Platter consisted of cheese, a few olives and some humous - very basic. Glass of bubbly was actually not champagne but a cheap watery cocktail. This is purely about the view (which I am sure you can get in a nicer establishment). Give this a miss seriously. Only stayed for an hour then went to a pizza cocktail bar next door with great food, service and atmosphere for a fraction of the price - no view but who cares when you are actually made to feel welcome.

Das Vertigo 42 ist die perfekte Location für einen entspannten Abend zu zweit mit Blick auf die Sykline von London. Durch die Gestaltung der Räume hat jeder seinen eigenen kleinen Bereich und wird kaum durch die anderen Gäste gestört. Sehr schönes Ambiente.

My sis treated me to afternoon tea here (courtesy of Groupon) and I thought it was great value for money. The little sandwiches were some of the nicest I have ever tasted washed down with a little glass of bubbles whilst enjoying some of the best views in London.

We had Champagne Afternoon Tea ! This building is fantastic! The views of London were breathtaking ! The Tea was nice and fresh and well presented! We recommend everyone to visit and take advantage of the views !

Arrived today for my friends birthday. Booked an afternoon tea. I will start with the positive the view is amazing and everyone gets a great view really. The atmosphere is very very chilled. The most relaxed I have been in ages. The afternoon tea was lovely. Sandwiches fantastic, scone was yum. The orange tart and chocolate tart, I would have swapped for another scone. Nothing special at all. The worst point was the service and attention to detail. We waited 30 mins before we where even spoken to or offered a drink. People who came in after us have been served before we were. On a hot day like today 30 mins for a drink is unacceptable. Plus I feel they should have been giving out jugs of water. It was another 20 mins for the cream tea. Now everyone was having the same tea, so I guess they make what’s on the tea stands in bulk. So I couldn’t understand why it took 50 mins to get it. We had to ask for the tea/coffee it wasn’t offered to us. Then when all that was finished we waited ages to see someone to ask for another drink. We wanted to pay the bill but we had yet another prolonged wait. We got up and paid at the exit. Needless to say I didn’t pay the £8 service charge as I didn’t get a service. Not what you expect for a birthday treat.

Stunning views of London in a relaxed atmosphere with friendly staff and nice standard of food. Would recommend this to anyone but perfect for couples 🍾

We had a stunning view overlooking the Thames, while we indulged ourselves in a delicious champagne afternoon tea. The seats were comfortable, the service was exceptional, the atmosphere was relaxed. What a treat.

Fantástica vista de Londres, fue muy afortunada porque hacía sol! Los sándwiches eran realmente sabrosos, hechos con pan fresco, las pequeñas tartaletas estaban deliciosas y no puedes batir un bollo con mermelada y crema. Muy recomendable para un tratamiento encantador. Mi única queja muy pequeña sería que algunas de las sillas no tienen respaldos, se usan primero y los taburetes pequeños no hacen campaña para hacer que te duela la espalda, pero aparte de eso, lo recomiendo encarecidamente.

We were lucky enough to have had this groupon deal bought for us. The cocktails were very nice as were the nibbles consisting of three different cheeses, chirizo salarmi, black and green olives. biscuits etc. Food was good, view fantastic. Service was good also.

Se ami architettura o semplicemente per vedere Londra dall'alto è consigliato. Ma è carissimo, un po' decaduto (poltroncine in simil pelle bucate).

The staff were professional, no more, no less. Of course very nice view, although we excepted to see more monuments. Cocktails are expensive for just simple little glasses, no fun or great quality there. Worth to have a look.

Made a booking through groupon for afternoon tea for two for my mums mothers day present. Unfortunately, when it can to to the booking date my mum had fallen ill and couldn't attend. I called up asking to rearrange and they said I couldn't because of the 24hour cancellation policy. It was printed in fine print right at the bottom of the booking, very upset in how they try to catch people out like this and don't make any exceptions. I wasted £40 on this booking. I would suggest reading very carefully before booking incase you incur some unexpected charges!

Visited last night And while the food was borderline ok , the wine was terrible , the rose was like drinking vinegar ☹️ not clean and fresh like a nice bottle should be . The steak was ok the prawns were slightly burnt , and the Caesar salad had no anchovies with dry over cooked chicken . The staff were friendly and professional , the whole experience was let down by poor food and really bad wine . Not what you expect for a . £120 snack

Went for champagne tea. Staff were very polite and welcoming. The food was delicious. But the views are incredible. You can move around and take so any pictures of all the landmarks and especially the river Thames. Lovely experience.

Fanastic views, which I guess is what this place is really about. We went with a gropon voucher whioch meant that it was just about value for money for what we had-In no way would it have been worth full price.

Came here for a view and cocktails and that's certainly what we got. Great views of London and cocktails and wines that hit the spot. Atmosphere is a perfect date night. There was a group of noisy American tourists but we didn't let that spoil the night.

I booked a champagne afternoon tea through Groupon for my friends 60th birthday as a special treat but it was nowhere near as good as I was expecting.

This is a great place if you’re looking for wonderful views of London while sipping on a glass of bubbly. It’s a minimum spend of £15 per person, but we thought it was worth it. Staff were welcoming and polite. Recommended.

Had a lovely afternoon, the drinks are a bit pricey, went for my friends 50th treat, would love to come back, got to save first.

The service and view were second to none. The fixtures and fittings could do with being updated.

A little apprehensive on arrival in the light of some rather negative reviews having been posted,we were pleasantly surprised by both the service, the quality of the food and drink on offer and, of course, the stunning views of London from the champagne bar.

The carpet, chairs and counter are worn with scratches, holes and dirt embedded in. The pop music was an odd choice for somewhere which is trying to be sophisticated and completely not in the right tone. The drinks were underwhelming and overpriced for what they were. The obvious redeeming feature and point of the place was the view but overall it could be so much better with some minor changes.
