I made a reservation and visited. It looked very busy. I was able to have a drink first in the waiting room before eating. The seats there were not wide and my partner was explaining the drinks to me when the young male employee told my partner to sit down, which made me feel bad. I understand that you are busy. I understand the crowded situation, but I didn't want to drink after seeing his behavior. I was wondering if I should eat here because of the rude staff. Since it was a celebration event, I persuaded them and started eating, and the other staff members were also friendly and in a good mood. I also enjoyed the food. I never encountered any staff when ordering food. If I don't meet the staff when I visit, I would like to visit again

This must be the best Italian restaurant in Sheffield, and there are of good ones. Everything about this place is perfect. The location, welcome, staff, food and drink are all excellent.

Sheffield city centre seems to have an abundance of really good Italian restaurants and Vero Gusto is one of them. This was our first visit but we’ll be back. The compact menu and extensive wine list provide everything you need for a great meal and evening out while the friendly, attentive and helpful staff simply enhance the experience. The food was excellent and beautifully presented and the risotto was possibly the best ever. All in all a great restaurant to try again, and probably again. Grazie Vero Gusto

Sí, la comida aquí es cara, pero la calidad es buena, el vino es muy caro también, pero me gusta disfrutar de vez en cuando. Lo único de este lugar es que no son muy sociables, cada vez que hemos visitado el personal parece tener un solo trabajo , para tomar orden , presentar comida, luego tomar el dinero. Es como si tuvieran miedo de conversar con el cliente, nunca llegan a la mesa a preguntar si todo está bien, realmente te hace sentir inoportuno.

I came across this lovely authentic Italian restaurant online and after reading the wonderful reviews I thought I’d book it for my boyfriends graduation meal. I orded Eliconi supposed to contain beef I think it was beef but a desert spoon of minced beef. My wife had Taglierini very tasty the menu says prawns actually it was one prawn chopped into 4 pieces with pasta. Tasty but expensive for so little main ingredients.

Me and my mum have been here today for the first time before our show at the Lyceum and will definetly be returning. The meal was to die for. The service was amazing from the most beautiful friendly bubbly waitress from Sicily with a great sense of humour. She made our experience THE BEST! I met the love of my life here. He googled best Italian in Sheffield because we bonded over pasta and he was bloody right. An amazing Italian

The cuisine in this restaurant was excellent and authentic and we thoroughly enjoyed our food the service was also attentive. However I made a big mistake by not actually looking at the wine list and simply ordered a bottle of pino grigio. Well you can imagine my surprise to find out when i got the bill the cost of this average wine was £58.50 for the bottle. A google search showed that, that precious bottle could be purchasedfrom Tesco at the cost of £10.50. 500% mark up!!!!! When i raised this with the owner his response was he did not have the same buying power as Tesco as he was a small independent business. I totally except this but presumably Tesco are still making a profit on this. I would suggest in future this guy should buy his wine from Tesco as it would be more cost effective that his current supplier. Spoiled what was otherwise a lovely meal.

Thanks to all who looked after us. After an email in the morning for a chance booking the same day we managed to get a table for 8pm. What lovely people and amazing food. Real fresh well made and tasty food that leaves you thinking why did you ever decide to put up with 3rd rate rubbish from the ding ping specialists around town. There are restaurants and there are places that excel, the preparation, flavours, colours and aromas in the cuisine that the amazing chef puts together are just the best. For 2 people, we had Sardianian wine, olives and focaccia for nibbles, amazing starters, the breadcrumbed eggs were just out of this world. Mains, dessert and a couple of drinks after all that it came to £211. The wine which was a good part of that was just as fantastic as the food. The value is just as amazing as the food, because it’s real home made, put together as you dine food and it shows as you eat and taste it. The place was absolutely sold out and the atmosphere was lovely, there’s even a little area just off the main dining, that looked like a bar, but we had to get off as we had already made plans for later. When we come to Sheffield I really now don’t want to eat anywhere else. I have no idea why it took me so long to find this place, but I wish I had found it ages ago. Credit to you for doing what you are doing and long may you continue. Even the street where it is makes it more fabulous. Please make sure you try it as you won’t be disappointed.

We do not recommend this place to anyone due to the bad experience we had. We came to have dinner, but we left after seeing how inadequate the menu was and how limited the vegetarian options were. Then, we went back for dessert after choosing another place for dinner. The waitress who took care of us when we first arrived seated us in an uncomfortable place by the bar. We ordered three different desserts. When we were halfway through the cheesecake, we moved the dessert, and saw a hair coming out from under the dessert. When we called the waiter and reported this situation. She said, "You have been eating for 3 hours, do you see right now?". Then she realised how rude was her own reaction and offered to bring a new dessert to make amends, but we did not accept. Then, she persisted us to bring cookies even though we said we didn't want it. But despite all this, the hairy dessert was reflected in the bill. After seeing this, we said that we wanted to pay for the cookies brought as a gift. Then they tried to remove the hairy dessert from the bill, but we ended up paying for everything by our will. Afterwards, we were falling in to the angry looks of the waiters. Desserts were good but still not recommended this place.

I have tried for a week to get a lunch reservation for 6 people at this restaurant. Sent a booking request via their website - no response. Sent an email direct to their info@ email address - NO RESPONCE. When you call there is a voicemail asking you to NOT leave a message! Is the restaurant even still open???? I guess I will just have to books elsewhere now.

Had read some great reviews of this restaurant, however I was so disappointed as a) the wine was ridiculously over priced b) I felt rushed c) I found the servers to be 'curt' to the point of rudeness d) The food was average at best. Sorry but I will not be returning.

Very impressed visiting this restaurant today. A warm welcome, beautiful decor, great ambiance. Food tasted wonderful and was very well presented . For me it all came together to make an experience I want to repeat and am happy to recommend to others.

What a lovely restaurant. We were walk ins on a Thursday early evening, but were soon seated. Great, attentive but not pushy service from the outset. Focaccia as a shared starter was excellent and the slow cooked shin of beef pasta was seriously good. All in all a wonderful place.

This is without doubt one of the best restaurants in Sheffield. The attention to detail is exceptional the food and first class service together made for a great experience. If you like wine, they have one of the most comprehensive wine list I have seen in Sheffield. This was my second visit, already looking forward to a third. Quite simply “Buonissimo”

This was our first visit to Verogusto and it most definitely won’t be our last, it was truly an amazing experience. The staff and owners are very friendly, helpful and efficient. The restaurant is very stylish and also at the same time, comfortable. The atmosphere was lovely. They have a large wine list and we enjoyed the wine we had. The menu had a great choice of food, we tried the Frito misto starter which was delicious, we had a lamb main course and a Raghu di mare pasta dish. The flavours were amazing and the quality of food was excellent. We did manage to fit in a dessert, the special of the day and also a tiramisu. It was a lovely evening!

The staff at the store had a bad attitude, impatience, a poor dining experience, and serious suspicion of discrimination.

This is an over-priced Italian restaurant making that classic error that english italian restaurants do of putting too much cheese and/or cream in most of the dishes and making them over-rich and inauthentic. That said it is one of the few decent places to eat in central Sheffield so if that doesn't put you off go - the service is good and the surroundings good too. Wines could be better at the prices as well.

Simply, some of the best food and wine served anywhere. Ok, you can get cheaper elsewhere but not of this special! We sampled 2 wines both new to us. Unexpectedly excellent. Wonderful to be able to buy quality wine by the glass. Food was imaginative and perfectly cooked and timed for our theatre visit served up by friendly and helpful staff. Obviously a very happy environment to work in. ** If you were one of the raucous young men eating at the same time, be aware how much you caused discomfort for eaters and staff alike. Please be mindful no one really appreciates having to put up with a background of your loud and course conversation and piercing guffaws. We all are deserve to be able to enjoy a night out without such interruptions. Well done to the staff! A place not to miss out on. Do try it! (The chances of having to share the space with such thoughtless men are slight )

Stopped here on a whim and enjoyed it thoroughly. Whether you’re coming for dinner or just to have a coffee or a few drinks after work just know that everything is amazing and the quality is superb. It’s so elegant yet has a friendly family feel.

I came with my mum for a pre theatre treat and we weren’t disappointed. Service from walking in the door was fantastic. Really attentive staff and fantastic food. We had Fritto misto and olives to start , followed by monkfish and prawns which we cooked to perfection. My mum had gnocchi stuffed with ricotta which were so light and delicious . We had to try a dessert which were pear and chocolate torte and lemon sponge which also were light and delicious. An excellent first visit and will definitely return.

Disappointing experience - the seafood in my pasta had a funny smell and did not seem fresh (perhaps it came from a can that had been open for a while), generally a bit overpriced for portion size & quality, waiting staff seemed a bit rushed in their manner and made faces at the fact that we had shopping bags with us. On the positive the duck was very good and the wine list is great. Tiramisu to finish off was good but not spectacular. Not sure whether we’d come back.

Nice cheesecake with cappuccino

Went with my mum and aunty for dinner before going to the theatre. The service and food was outstanding, arrived a bit early so we were asked if we wanted to sit at the table or in the wine bar while we waited, we sat in the wine bar, which is small but comfortable and relaxed. The specials were explained to us and as one of the group is coeliac so were the options available for them. The food was amazing, had scallops to start and then we all had sea food risotto which was so good, I could eat it again any time, had cheesecake for dessert which was also really nice. The service , atmosphere and food were all excellent. I can’t say enough positive things about here and will definitely be back. It is one of the more expensive restaurants but well worth it for the quality of food and service.

Vero Gusto is the best Italian Restaurant, not only in Sheffield but in the many places I have visited both in the U.K. , and also with many excellent ones in Italy. Ester, the chef buys only the best ingredients and the food is prepared to order. The recipes are authentic and the food beautifully presented. I often "test" the quality of food in other Italian restaurants (by ordering a dish I eat at Vero Gusto) only find it disappointing; sometimes not even correctly prepared or often without the correct ingredients. I once ordered Caponata at a famous Italian restaurant only to be served something resembling ratatouille ! Service is attentive, without being obtrusive and the ambiance is perfect to enjoy the best food in a relaxing atmosphere.

The food was amazing I had a fillet steak cooked to perfection, the most amazing chips my wife had a sausage dish and she had never tasted pasta like it before but I cannot give you any more than 3 stars. And that unfortunately is because of the service. We wanted a special night for a combined 1st anniversary and 50th birthday and it wasn't made to feel special and in a restaurant that has some pretty good reviews so I was expecting a brilliant overall experience. Firstly - The Food Amazing!! Tasty, well cooked and well presented, we really cannot fault it 2. Location and Venue Located close to the theatres and many shopping treats, it's a lovely place in a pretty much perfect location. However I was near the air conditioning unit, so as the night went on I got pretty cold and uncomfortable, but then the air conditioning won't work correctly if the front door is fully open, ehich it was. The restaurant is pretty cosy but not overly as others have suggested. 3. Service This is where the restaurant really let us down and I would only really rate as 1 star!! As we walked in there was no real concierge/ reception, someone sort of behind the door mumbled something but then someone behind the dessert counter looked over and smiled so we said our name and booking time, and then someone else appeared and sort of shuffled us down to a table. We were seated, we perused the menu and then picked up the drinks menu, which is quite extensive, I had not got to the 2nd page before we were asked if we would like something from the menu, I politely declined as I was still looking. I looked back to the food menu, we made our decisions and within 10 minutes our order was being taken, we were quite rudely told when trying to order Olives that these were no longer available. I will come back to these though. On ordering my steak, while taking the order the waiter kept looking else where, but as I stated how I would like my steak he just said with chips and shot off!! I would have actually preferred the rocket with balsamic reduction. A little later, i think we were eating our starters we went for the bread and the scallops, both amazing another couple arrived, obviously some regular customers. They were seated in front of us and within minutes they had olives on their table, hang on we had just been told olives were no longer available!! Not impressed!! That was just the beginning of bad experience, with plates being cleared away from the table while we still had food in hand, when we placed money on the table to pay it was literally snatched away and done was exclaimed busy the waiter. There was a young boy just meandering around bored as bored can be, playing drums outside on the empty tables. When asked for a dessert menu a different waiter rambled off 3 dessert choices and I thought I heard lemon in the 2nd option I was right and again the food was delicious along with the coffee I had as well. But I had to catch a waiter to ask for coffee. It really was like they didn't want us to be there and we were too much trouble so while writing I've actually got that annoyed again I've reduced my review from 3 to 2.
