Terrible news! It has closed down. Now occupied by yet another pizza gaff. Such a shame as we really enjoyed eating here in the past.

Fresh, tasty sandwiches right off the oven in the morning. The chai and caramel latte were well balanced where the flavors still sutil that you could taste the coffee blend. Recommend!

All the visits before have been good but not today. The waitress could not understand that my wife only wanted bacon, egg and baked beans and she asked us twice and she did not write it down!! So when the order came my was correct but guess what my wife’s was not. My wife then had to wait ages for the correct order and it came by the time I had finished my breakfast. All we wanted was a breakfast together. The owner said he was sorry and had a go at the waitress about not writing the order down, but really I felt she had not been trained.Don’t go when they are busy they don’t seem to able to cope nowadays and the owner does not seem to care much either.

Being local and loyal to this local business, went in today with my wife for a coffee and cake. It was busy and after queuing for sometime was finally faced with rude and offhand nature - left annoyed and disappointed by the rudeness of the staff and owner. Decided to take our business elsewhere - supporting this local business is not worth it, another local business will now get our custom where the service was friendly and efficient.

Where do I start. Visited for a breakfast on a Saturday morning, took almost an hour to serve me drinks when there was the grand sum of around 15 people there! No customer service or pleasantries, absolutely no order or structure at all as to how diners are serves. Waiters running around like headless chickens and no clue who as ordered what.. It's like a russian roulette of dining! I saw 2 customers wait 30 minutes to have their table cleaned and ended up doing it themselves. My food was undercooked , no apology or offer of a replacement and to add insult to injury my almost full cup of coffee was taken away whilst I was in the loo and was not replaced as they thought it was finished. It honestly seems as though the people running this place have lived under a rock for the last 100 years having never stepped foot in a restaurant. Totally incredulous to any form of feedback and no scope in which to handle any customer complaints. The guy - i think it was the owner, stared at me blankly when I told him the food was undercooked and offered no solution at all so i told him to just leave it. I came away feeling totally stressed out! Never again.

I was with my fiancée and ordered a club sandwich. Waited over half an hour for relatively simple food and a nicely presented sandwich and fries came.Bread, chicken, bread, lettuce and then bread. What’s missing? Bacon! (I asked for no tomato). I told the waiter that this was not a club sandwich and he said it was normal. I said why would you put lettuce only between two pieces of bread. He said it was normal. He looked at me as if I was stupid. He told me to read the menu where it says “ask what are the ingredients” inside!!!!! I told him I don’t want this carb overload, and asked him to take it back. No apology. No admission it was not a club sandwich and the bacon was missing. No “could I get you something else to eat”. Instead I had to sit and watch my partner eat by herself. When we left the shop, I said in a very calm manner that I was disappointed and the least he could have done was ask me if I wanted something else to eat. The big waiter, possibly the owner, called me “a f**k”. I was astonished! I said do you know what you have done, swearing in front of a young girl, and he was flippant, proud and didn’t care! I was flabagasted. Totally unnecessary. A very very bad experience and the worst arrogant service. (For what it’s worth, my partners scrambled eggs on sour dough bread was quite nice, just a shame she had to eat by herself I suppose).

We've eaten full English breakfasts at many venues but the "Guilty" breakfast at Verdict Bakery in Brentford is the best by far. Was going to open this review by writing something pithy about my ‘verdict’ about Verdict, but our experience here was so bad that I didn’t want to appear so flippant. Upon arrival at Verdict at just after 2pm on a Saturday, myself and my girlfriend stood for a while inside the cafe whilst several members of staff walked past us without acknowledging our presence. After a while I asked one of the staff whether it was table service, though after she said ‘yes’ I still had to help myself to a menu as we found a table (in one of the dingy siderooms - perhaps they were saving electricity by not switching on the lights).I ordered avocado and poached egg on toast, and my girlfriend plumped for the mozzarella, tomato and pesto toasted sandwich. Disconcertingly quickly our food arrived, and it was clear that both dishes had been hastily thrown together without care. My bread was barely toasted, the avocado without any flavour (there was absolutely no seasoning), and though the eggs were well-poached they were on the small size and, again, without any seasoning. My girlfriend’s meal was far worse however, disintegrating in a soggy mess as soon as she attempted to pick it up. As with my meal, her bread had hardly seen a toaster, though in her case the juice from the tomato had seeped into the bread so that it was an incredibly wet mush. Interestingly, the wetter side of the sandwich had been laid on the plate, I can only assume so that the meal didn’t look so unpalatable as would have been the case otherwise. We immediately caught the attention of our server, drawing her attention to the appalling plate of food that had been served, and she informed us that it was ‘the tomato that made the bread wet’ and that, as the sandwiches were made up at the start of the day, this was always the case. We really didn’t require an explanation, though an apology would’ve been nice, but instead she stared at us incredulously until we made it clear that we were still dissatisfied (despite her explanation). Only then did she grumpily hail her manager and asked him to speak to us.The manager then condesendingly explained (again) the issue with the tomato and bread, repeating the fact that it was always the case (in which case may I suguest that this sandwich isn’t offered as a toastie). He said that my girlfriend could have the same sandwich untoasted as it wouldn’t disintegrate to that extent. When she declined he said that she could order something else, but that she could ‘still have the crisps’ served on the plate alongside her sandwich. Still no apology was forthcoming. My girlfriend then ordered the soup, but after a few minutes (watching me eat my substandard food) she was told that they had run out. By this point we were so keen to leave that we paid for my lunch and left. Only once near the end of our visit did the manager proffer an apology, but it wasn’t delivered with any conviction.Needless to say we will never go back. And I think you already know my verdict...

Having been to the Verdict a couple of times, I have never been impressed with their soft drink selection (it is very limited and most are purely sugar), or their pastry selection which is extremely limited, so have never really wanted to return. However I went for brunch and couldn't believe how overpriced it was. Firstly I ordered a fresh orange juice, thinking it was freshly squeezed but it was actually just from a bottle. I then ordered the avocado toast but without the eggs. It came as one piece of toast with a lump of avocado (no seasoning or extras), and they charged £8.75 for it which is ridiculous. My sister then ordered eggs and they charged again for that with one small piece of toast. I think truly good customer service would have been not to charge for her eggs as I had mine without yet still paid full price. Yet, the service was very good, they were friendly and quick and so cannot complain about that.

Aran and his team are improving Verdict, to make it a really nice place to eat. We sorely needed a decent cafe in Brentford for breakfast, brunch, lunch and dinner. And we got it once the old courthouse was transformed. As time has gone by, Aran and his team have improved their sevice and speed, their range of dishes, alcohol etc, even instituting a coffee loyalty card supported by a local real estate agent - a good move. I go there about once a week for a leisurely brunch and coffee and always enjoy the 'guilty' breakfast. Keep up the good work guys, look after your local regulars like you do and we'll continue to patronise you.

Over the holidays have gone here twice and on both occasions we received a warm, friendly welcome, excellent breakfasts served with delicious coffee. Being located in the old Magistrates Court, the menu has a court theme to it, Guilty Breakfast at £8.50 (Full English in other words) with two eggs, hash brown, bacon, sausage, mushrooms, beans, tomatoes with a nice sprinkle of garlic and toast. The Eggs Benedict were also excellent with soft poached eggs. They sell excellent Pastel de Nata (Portuguese custard tarts - they are so good), delicious coffee is served hot in large colourful cups and as I have said all served by incredibly friendly staff/owner/manager.Although a little more expensive than some of the cafes in Brentford the quality of the food more than justifies the cost. There is a outside seating area overlooking the square which is bright and sunny. The interior has been stripped back to brickwork to give an industrial feel. We have live in Brentford for many years and it is really great to have a place such as this on our doorstep. We are looking forward to trying out lunch next!

Called in here for breakfast whilst waiting for an event to start.I was the only person in as it was 8:30am on a Tuesday but the guy who owns the place welcomed me with a warm smile and offered me a warm drink before I had even got to my seat! A few minutes later a lovely pot of tea was on my table and I had placed my order for porridge with berries and maple syrup. Not long after my food arrived and was nice and hot and pretty yummy, although maybe a touch too much maple syrup for my liking as it got a little sickly towards the end. However that aside it was very tasty and the stewed berries were very nice alongside the porridge. The place was immaculately clean and tidy and I got a really nice feeling about the place.Would definitely come back again, maybe a little later in the day to try something other than breakfast as the lunch menu also looked very good.

Went for brunch on Bank Holiday Monday in May. Arrived at 1040 and it was about 10% full so by no means overwhelmed with customers. The service was poor. The main culprit was a guy who appeared to be somewhat manic and not coping very well with a queue of 2 people. He told us to take a seat and he'd be with us. After 5 minutes waiting I went to find a menu myself because one hadn't arrived, sat down and immediately he asked if we were ready to order and I said no because we'd not been given a menu until I found one myself. Then my girlfriend asked for a portion of toast - he told her it's a very big portion and maybe too much for one. It was almost as though he didn't want the place to make money or he was trying to give my size 10 girlfriend a subtle message. Then he said "So would you like it or not?".The food that arrived was very good value for money - I had eggs royale with an extra sausage. The hollandaise sauce was perfect, the salmon fresh, the poached eggs perfectly runny and the sausage high quality and tasty. The coffee (I ordered a flat white) was average - no shaping to the milk, the milk slightly too hot, but a reasonably nice blend of espresso flavour. In summary - this place is inside a lovely building that has character, the food is tasty and good value but when we visited the inept service let it down.

My candid review of lunch at Verdict on a sunny and warm spring day. I set out for something for lunch without a plan. However their sunny out-front terrace drew me in. Firstly, let's get a few niggles out of the way :You need a lunch menu near the counter which is a copy of the one out front. I had to go back outside to find what they were serving. Although (read positives) the pasta dish was excellent it would have been improved with a crunch of black pepper. No one ever asked me during my meal "everything ok?" The positives:I ordered penne pasta with ham and cheese and a San Pellegríno ( new berry flavour). After about ten minutes my dish arrived. Very pleasant to the eye it wasn't all looks and nothing under the hood tho; 'By eck ' ( born in Yorkshire thank you) it was soooo good. The right balance of ingredients combined with perfectly awesome-cooked penne pasta. Topped with two halves of sweet cherry tomatoes. Combining all the ingredients into a mouthful, lit up an OMG! in my mind. Way better than the 'family Italian 30 metres away. After numerous delightful mouthfuls in the bottom of the bowl was a clump of chewy gooey cheese melded with olive oiled pesto. So goodI'll be back with black pepper next time and perhaps a glass of cold white wine to accompany it. Perfect.

We have had breakfasts/ late brunches many times at Verdict and they have all been excellent. Choose from eggs benedict/florentine or royale; scrambled eggs; Guilty Pleasure full English - we have tried them all. There is usually a daily special too, we loved their take on a bubble and squeak breakfast! The quality of ingredients is very good and plentiful: really tasty thick bacon and meaty sausages. Our recent breakfast there was excellent value as it included a coffee or tea, and their flat whites are the best in the area. If you have a sweet tooth their pastries and cakes are all home-made and yummy. A breakfast treat and, even better, you can partake of the breakfast menu til 3 p.m.!(NB we have not had an evening meal there as it seems to be closed at night since Aug/Sept, not sure if this is temporary or not?)

A friend and I had a lunch at Verdict and found the food to be very good. There's a decent range of breakfast/brunch and the specials were excellent. The service isn't great - I was wordlessly given a menu when I sat down and finally was able to order. It took a while to arrive (although we were offered someone else's food at one point). It's a shame because the food is good and the new venue has been attractively decorated.

Popped in as it was a lovely evening and we wanted to sit outside, we didn't eat the food we saw looked delicious and big portions. We spoke to a lady who recommended breakfast we will give it a Go! The owner was lovely he introduced himself informing us they had been open for 10 months and the bar isn't the finished article he intended to make further changes to improve the place, we look forward to our return visit. One slight negative thing that has nothing to do with the owner or the bar was the drunks sitting in the square who kept pestering people for cigarettes, Tbh if affected the restaurant over the road more than us the owner had to keep chasing him away from customers eating outside he eventually called the police they took the alcohol away, it's a shame for all businesses having to put up with the people sitting around drinking out of cans being a nuisance.

I went for a family brunch and the only options were breakfast choices which was fine. They say that they cater for allergies but nothing gluten free was available. My sister ordered a bacon and mushroom omelette and the bacon which she described as tasteless. The accompanying salad was undressed. We had to ask for extra cutlery, an extra plate (we had a 4 year old with us), more milk for the coffee, sauce for the cooked breakfast, sugar, tap water, we got our own salt & pepper. The table was slightly sticky. Back to the food. We ordered 3 of their cooked breakfasts which consists of a sausage (not bad) 2 slimy and oily eggs, mushrooms (swimming in oil) a deep fried (out of the freezer not home made) hash brown, watery baked beans (I’ve never purchased beans this cheap and I buy from Lidls!) I slice of bread under the eggs and 2 slices of bacon. The coffee was very strong, but for most that would be acceptable. It was massively disappointing as this family meal was a chance for us all to get together before my sister returns overseas. It’s a greasy-spoon breakfast flouncing as something better with ill-trained staff. This is a shame as it’s in a great location and somewhere I had high hopes for.

Was in Brentford recently and having had visited the usual, Greggs and a buffet style Chinese venue I was please to see a new eatery. The Verdict was formerly the Brentford courts so the name seems very appropriate. Inside was smaller than I though but very pleasant, nice cafe style furniture but would be nice to have sofa's too, for the laptop - loungers !! Ordered an all day breakfast and a tuna sandwich. Fair amount of filling and nicely placed in a plate bug would be good to present it with some salad or crisps. The breakfast was very well present and looked freshly made as a loose to the usual reheated sausages and bacon and watered down beans! Service was nice and the 2 owners were very tentative, polite and happy to hear our views on the potential bar they're looking at adding to their restaurant. Bill came to approx £20 inc some icecream and mint tea which maybe a little too steep for Brentford High street but never the less a pleasant, airy place to switch off from the hustle bustle of West London life.

There are places that call themselves a restaurant, when, in fact, they remind me more of smelly, greasy spoon type place. The Verdict is nothing like that.I have been to this place on a few occasions and when a group of friends wanted some afternoon tea, the Verdict came to mind. I spoke to the owner and he offered us a fantastic deal. The place looks very nice and is clean. It is comfortable and offers a great variety of organic products too. Selection of wines, cakes, drinks, jams and so on is very good. I had a meal there too with a friend. The food was good and the price was reasonable. It was a great event for our afternoon tea. Everyone was impressed with the quality of the products on offer. My only concern is the service – but I feel that this is a problem all over London. Service could be faster (form the kitchen too). The waiting staff look like if they have ‘real jobs’ somewhere else and do this as a part-time “test”. Why does it take 10 minutes to have a cappuccino in London? Some places, even longer. However the Verdict is excellent with also loads of room/seats outside, for a meal or just a drink or a coffee. Most definitely top place in the area.

I often go to verdict for coffee and sandwiches which are excellent. I love the atmosphere and how its name links it to its former life as a court! The tapas was really delicious and some of the best I've had outside of Spain. The sangria was also good and the staff are all so friendly. I will be back again to try out the other evening menus!

We spend time in London often, staying near this café in Brentford. We consider ourselves fortunate to be so close to this reliably good café. We go whenever we can for an excellent cup of coffee, a delicious pastry or generous freshly-made sandwich: I should add that there are different types of meals available for breakfast, lunch and dinner - and we have yet to be disappointed. Every member of the staff is genuinely friendly, and solicitous of every customer. One can tell that the staff here work thoughtfully for customers and other members of the team. I have often requested a variation from the menu, because sometimes I am not hungry enough for the full meal. Every request is met with a willing attitude. No client is hurried, the space is generous but not cavernous, and it is welcoming. A very good place.

Tapas on Saturday night was some of the best we've had outside of Spain. It's a shame they restrict the days and times that they serve them but what we had was absolutely delicious. Nice wine too but give the beer a miss.

Coffees, cakes and sandwiches to take away are decent enough. My partner and I have been disappointed each time we have sat in the restaurant for breakfast and the standards have definitely dropped, as we have been about 5 times since opening. Guilty breakfast: Overcooked eggs, tepid and too many baked beans. Eggs Benedict: Again overcooked eggs and hollandaise sauce not great and tepid. Omelette: Over cooked and really salty. Final straw was the ham & cheese toasty: 2 bits of dry bread, with sub standard quality ham and cheese. There wasn't a single ounce of butter inside or outside and it wasn't toasted, so more like warm, stale sandwich. I would have been embarrassed to serve this without charging, we were actually speechless. When we came to pay, we were not asked how the food was, which should be standard practice in any food establishment. Had we been asked we would have been honest. My partner had decided he would vote with his feet, having been disappointed every time he has been. It's a shame because this is a great location. The owner has obviously invested a lot of money and I believe he genuinely cares, but I think they are trying to do too many things and as a result, very little ends up being done properly. I would suggest sticking to the breakfast, lunches, cakes and coffees and doing them consistently well. If you are going to advertise 'toasties' at least do them properly.

This new place looks very stylish but the menu was rather dull. We were there on burger night and the burgers were fine, but we would have liked to see some rather more interesting dishes. The service was very friendly and nice. With so many restaurants available in the area however, the food here is just not exciting enough to draw people back. It could do very well, as it is in lovely position, but the menu needs tweaking. In the warmer weather there are tables and chairs provided outside, so with a bit of a spruced up menu Verdict could do very well indeed.

I popped in tired and hungry after a long day at work. I wanted something relatively simple and opted for the pasta bolognaise. Luckily for me, it was far from simple. A homemade bolognaise made entirely from scratch. It tasted amazing and cost £8, so a good price too. I'm not sure why it's logged here as a Bakery. They do make their own bread and cakes but it serves a full range of meals. Breakfasts are very good and the scrambled eggs are to be recommended.

We first visited this eatery the week it opened several months ago and were underwhelmed by the experience. The food was mediocre and the service something to be desired. Our verdict was not to go back in a hurry. However we returned this week for breakfast to give it a 2nd try and found that the menu had been re-vamped and the food was enjoyable. We had an omelette and a toasted sandwich, both were tasty and good value. There were no problems with service this time. It is definitely improved since the last time and we intend to now go back to try their tapas evening.

So disappointing. Half of the food we ordered was served tepid, nearly cold. Plus, they started to make us feel unwelcome by beginning their close down procedure and cleaning floors before 9.30. The smell of disinfectant was repellent with the wine. The waitress who took our order was lovely, however the waitress to whom we pointed out the tepid food and the cleaning procedure accused us of being rude. On leaving we noted the Italian over the way and The Weir behind were still buzzing with customers. We in the meantime had barely been allowed to finish our wine and had had a disappointing food experience. Particularly so since I'd changed our plans for the evening to give it a go having had a decent cup of of coffee there in the am. I'm assuming they're better set up for morning coffee than dinner. But I won't be giving it another go.

Came for brunch and had been before for sandwiches which were nice but this time it was disappointing. It's great to have something new in Brentford, as most things around are a bit gloomy. Had the guilty breakfast (English breakfast), and 2 eggs Benedict and artisan toast and honey. Guilty breakfast had more baked beans in quantity than anything else. Was ok but not wow. Not really value for money. Eggs Benedict had some sort of jam /sweet red stuff around the plate. Hollandaise tasted different (maybe powdered?) and the 2 dishes weren't hot, more like lukewarm. Not sure why a classic dish can't be prepared correctly. Not sure if I'll be brace enough to come back for a seated meal. Looks are deceiving.

We decided to give the Verdict a try after being a loyal customer at the bakery in sheen since it opened. The venue is fantastic and you can tell they have invested a lot of money. I agree with previous comments in that I am unsure what they want to be, coffee shop, restaurant, deli etc. We both ordered a full breakfast. We have sampled a lot of English breakfasts over the years however we were disappointed. The plates arrived dusted in sprinkles of paprika which just looked messy. Meal was swamped in over cooked baked beans and mushrooms appeared to be tinned. The sausage was obviously good quality and poached eggs were ok. We both ordered coffees which were great but not as good as 'The Bakery' but a lot better than the typical high street brands. For the price ~£8.50 per breakfast we feel the meal was over priced ~£22 for two. We don't mind paying a premium £8-£10 but the product and service has to deliver. The place has great potential but they need to address some obvious shortfalls if they are to succeed and if we are to ever return.

Popped in for late Sunday breakfast after having visited previously for an amazing lunch. It was sad to see the delicious lunch specials disappear from the menu and replaced with everyday items - burgers, etc. Even worse was the service - we had to ask for everything twice and could only order certain items off the menu due to it being a Sunday (?)It's such a shame as the location and quality of the food is fantastic. Overall their breakfast is over rated for the price and the service is just dire. Would not return.

I have given this restaurant/deli (which is it?) a low score for two reasons. First - it has no individual website so you have no idea what they offer. It looks like a deli. They do some meals but when and what is a mystery. Reviews mention tapas so we booked expecting to be able to share interesting nibbles. It turned out Tuesday was burger night. Nothing else on offer. We also mentioned their restricted opening hours and discovered that local rumour apparently has it wrong. They are, for example and contrary to public information, open on Sunday afternoon when the Farmers' Market is open. Second - We thought the bill was on the high side for a burger meal with a bottle of generically labelled Merlot. Come on Verdict. Get your act together or you aren't going to last very long. Most customers won't arrange their diaries to fit in with your menu plans. They will expect you to fit in with theirs.

Verdict is house in the old Magistrates court house on the High Street. Had breakfast there and it was delicious. Service was 1st class and range of good was above average. Also stopped back in that evening for a glass of wine and the ambience was very different!. Brentford needed a good quality establishment for breakfast and morning coffees and now they also serve lunch and even tapas! Best wishes for the future folks!

Well, we figured that we would give this place a second chance.... Wandered in on a Saturday AM and took a seat at a table, with a waitress saying "hi" as we entered.15 minutes later none if the five staff had been near our table to take an order.. In fact nobody had entered our side of the restaurant in that time.We left and went to nearby "Time" where we were welcomed by a smiling waitress and had our order taken in the way to our table!!Wake up Verdict, your epic location won't save you forever.

We went to the verdict for cofee and tea and it's a great looking place with lots of potential. I am still not sure if it's a coffee shop, Spanish restaurant, or other. Menu seemed to have all sorts and they have 2 tapas nights. Coffees were good. The ambience is amazing. Brentford has been lacking a good coffee place and this might be the answer. There are charging points although didn't see any signs for wifi. Great potential. Hope they figure out exactly what they are soon.

oooh I really wanted this place to be good, it has so much potential and having lived in Brentford for the last 16 years, our town is crying out for a decent selection of quality places for food, drinks and cafe culture outside of the multiple pubs in the area. Verdict is in a prime position and could be sooo much better - their issues could be teething problems but considering it has been open since last October one would expect that all of these issues would be sorted by now. It seems to have an identity crisis and doesn't know if it is a bakery, deli, cafe, wine bar or a tapas bar - the blend is not working here. It feels like it wants to be everything to everyone but is missing a massive trick I feel. This was our second visit - the first being just for coffee and it was very pleasant. We decided to pop down for breakfast this morning… "eggs benedict" turned out to be "egg" benedict… one egg, a slice of ham, a small muffin and lumpy hollandaise. My husband ordered the full english which was ok but came with tinned mushrooms (yes tinned mushrooms)… the whole meal was sooo disappointing. Toast was done on one side and came with no butter or jam - I had to ask for butter separately. The service was weird, nervous inexperience would be the best description and not attentive enough considering there was only one other table of two there. The bill came to just under £24 … for what we got, it wasn't worth it. Guys - if you are going to make a success of this venture you have a lot of work to do outside of displaying expensive wines, beers, cakes and deli items… the quality of food, the service and the overall experience needs serious attention.

Service is pretty poor. They always forget something because I guess it's cool not to write the order down . Breakfast a whole £1.50 more than the much better Time Cafe down the road. Extra rasher of bacon (or anything for that matter) weighs in at a whopping £1Complained about undercooked eggs once with the result that they put them in a nuclear reactor for 10 minutes along with the rest of the breakfast! On complaining the comment was "well you didn't specify how you wanted the eggs" a fair comment but "cooked" would have been a fair assumption... Eventually gave a full refund but won't be back in a hurry

The Roastery is lovely for a take-away coffee or food. I often stop by and have tried a decent amount on the menu. I'd recommend the chai latte or the iced chai latte in the summer. The service can be slow and the staff are not always welcoming. But they do a great coffee!
