The food was very nicely cooked and favoursome. We are not sure we will go back due to the strange concept of sharing "tiny plates" of food. I think bearing in mind the location (overhead ie rent) and the amount of food on the plate, it was an expensive dinner and not satisfying.

Have been to Verbena before, but not for ages. Booked for the 8 course Christmas tasting menu, which was fantastic. Had to take one of the puddings home as there was too much food for our small appetites! It felt like everything had been made with love and attention to detail - beautifully presented, innovative, and very tasty. The black garlic leeks stood out, as did the pommes Anna, and the choux bun dessert. It was a special occasion so we had a very expensive bottle of wine, which was stunning. At £45 a head the value was pretty good; we've paid a lot more in some places for inferior food. The atmosphere and service were spot-on. Thank you Verbena, we will be back!

8 small (nano size) plates, 4 stingy bread rolls, some life saving chips, drinks and deserts inc a weird chocolate dish - all for a bargain price of £160. I went away hungry and resentful but my 3 companions thought it was great. Very pleasant staff though.

I gather from other reviews that Verbena used to offer a 3 course menu. It now offers small plates. They are very small plates and there aren’t enough to choose from. One was just a bread roll! Added to that, they completely forgot about one plate and said they’d run out of another one. This left us with not enough to eat. We spent a lot of time discussing what we were going to eat when we got home. Other problems: Wine list is very limited and is ridiculously overpriced. And absolutely no allowance made for dietary restrictions.

My first visit for some time but had a very nice Sunday lunch. Good roast lamb, cooked to my liking IE not pink! (More than happy to have pink beef so maybe I'll have that next time). Nice pud too and a cracking gin. Super friendly service with a smile. Well worth a visit.

Set meal and service both excellent. At £35 pp this isn't the cheapest, but such quality is well worth it.

What a lovely surprise just down the road. Growing up in Stirchley in the 90s, the idea they there could be a top notch restaurant on the high street would’ve been a hilarious joke but how things have changed! We’ve been meaning to try out Verbena for months and finally got round to it. I don’t have anything bad to say! The food was fantastic as were the drinks. We had both of the signature drinks. My wife said the gin and tonic was the best she’d ever had and I had the “Verbilini”. I dunno what was in it, but it was good! We both had the beetroot to start, which was lovely. I had the risotto for main which was really nice, and not too heavy. My wife had the pork belly which she also enjoyed! Dessert was also brilliant. The tiramisu chocolate tart and the cheese selection was perfection. I could’ve eaten another one quite happily! Sure, at £93 for 2 dinners and 4 drinks it’s not the cheapest night out ever, but we wanted something special and we got it. Itwas so worth it and we’ll absolutely be back!

If you are anywhere near this restaurant, make it your destination; you would be mad to miss it. A friend told us about it and it was the best meal out in a long time. The food was superb, don’t miss the treacle bread and elderflower butter, a great prelude to to the most amazing lamb shoulder croquettes and the pork belly mains. Amazing staff, beautifully presented food and just the right amount on the plate.

Our first visit to Verbena proved to be a real treat. The juxtaposition of the calm of the dining room paired against the Pershore road was quite something. The menu is simple and perfectly executed, there was no weak point. This is high quality food, done extremely well from start to finish. Great wine list - the Reisling was delicious. The service was also spot on - attentive and perfectly paced throughout. This is brilliant local restaurant, delivering fabulous food at an accessible price point, it deserves to continue to thrive. Get there and support local.

We went to Verbena on Friday 24th June. We were really looking forward to it as we’d heard good things. Firstly we’d looked at the menu online and when we arrived these were no longer on the menu, no steak and no chocolate dessert. My partner ordered the ravioli to start, it was one piece. I had the asparagus, the tips were minute. My main was the mackerel and it was one piece of mackerel on one crushed new potato. My partner had the pork belly and again it was one piece of pork belly on the plate. For my pud I opted for the cheese. I was astounded. There was 4 tiny slices of cheese, about 2ml in thickness, 1cm in width and 3cm in length. It was served with sourdough. No butter even! On leaving we discussed where to go and get ourselves a curry!

Chloe's created a treasure in Verbena. With her passion for supporting women in the hospitality industry, to the care taken over the ambience of the restaurant right down to the smallest detail of having verbena handwash in the ladies - everything has been thought about creatively, sensitively and beautifully. And everything served is in season, to boot. What's not to like? Please visit if you're in the area. You won't be disappointed.

Lovely meal at this little independent. It’s unassuming but don’t let that fool you. Between the party we had both menu choices. I had beetroot and goats cheese starter. Delicious. Followed by the hake which was really tasty and perfectly cooked. The others had pea & ham soup declared to be lovely and the mutton also well presented and perfectly cooked. The desserts rhubarb and custard, sublime and choc délice all of same high standard. The girls enjoyed a house cocktail too. At £35 per head this is an absolute bargain. Some reviews say portions are small and yes perhaps more of some things would not have gone amiss but we were all pleasantly full. We will go again and would recommend

We had a lovely meal, the service was friendly and knowledgable and the restaurant was cosy and modern. While the portions were more fine dining than hearty dishes they were delicious. The lamb was tender and tasty and the chocolate delice was probably the best dessert I've had for a while. We went for the cheese plate to share as well which was nice too. No problems in recommending this to others and would be happy to go again soon!

Superb small & rustic/café style restaurant that has a small choice of menu options delivered to almost fine dining levels. Similar standard to the original Bohemian in selly oak (when Andy & his mate ran it) but portions size is on the small size. Please fix the glass in your front door. Not a good 1st impression with it being full of sweaty condensate.

We visited verbana Fri 11th February in the evening. We were disappointed with our starters because the salt cod brandade you could hardly taste any cod it was mainly potatoes. My friend went for a goats cheese chicory salad, this wasn't a chicory salad but lamb lettuce/mixed salad with hard shaved cheese which didn't taste like goats cheese at all, there was also one tiny segment of orange. In terms of main courses I selected the hake and this was perfectly cooked and very tasty, my friend chose beef cheek which again was perfectly cooked but there was hardly any gravy and the menu said that it will be served with carmelise shallots instead this was a chargrilled half an onion and potatoe crocket was also disappointing so overall mixed feelings about this restaurant, for the price we paid we thought it could have been better
