Four Oaks in Birmingham

This is a lovely spot for a special Sunday lunch with family. Maria our waitress was particularly welcoming and helpful.

Called in for lunch having read Trip Advisor reviews and we were not disappointed. Good variety of dishes to choose from and we enjoyed our choices. Lovely helpful and friendly staff and very comfortable seating areas for us and our dogs. Looking forward to our next visit.

We only popped in for a quick drink but the place has a great vibe. Would definitely go again. No comments on service and food as we didn't try any.

Had a couple of lunches here recently and both times it’s been really lovely. Sunday lunch was very busy so service was a little slow but still good. The food from the lunch menu we had on Friday was superb. Knowledgeable cheerful staff who were very helpful and welcoming too. Our new favourite Four Oaks/Mere Green place to go. Keep up the good work guys.

Great food and staff 1st visit on a Saturday afternoon , we had food and drinks in the bar area, which was quiet just how I like it . Sirloin steak chips, etc. was so nice that I had the spider crab butter with this and when so well together instead of pepper sauce .

I'd not been here for a number of years, as I felt the food quality was quite poor and service. However, after visiting today, I was pleasantly surprised with the food, service, and environment. I really enjoyed the steak sandwich and chunky chips on the lunch menu. I recommend giving it a try.

Best Sunday roast out for a long time! Especially impressed with the wide range of different vegetables.

Not good experience, there is private / special dining room in the restaurant which had private party going on. This room has no doors to isolate, hence the very loud noisy with unpleasant conversations, which the staff made no approach to calm down people in the room. This room should be equipped with door, etc. In addition the person serving us forgot our 2nd round of drinks which were ordered just before meal was served. After reminding the staff, finally drinks arrived almost 30 minutes late, by that time almost ready to depart.

We love it here, food is amazing and I just love the atmosphere and decor. Also might add the complementary bread and ginger butter is a delicious touch although a little disappointed the last time we visited as we only got one tiny slice of bread each 😄

Very much enjoyed our visit to The Four Oaks, special mention to Marie who looked after us, so attentive, a lovely evening with great food The only negative is that the car park was full when we arrived, it was difficult to park having to wait for people to leave

Great pub tasty food food amazing. But it clearly states on Google that you welcome the blue light card but it was refused. Also the entrance doorway is very slippy when raining

This is our third visit. Absolutely fantastic food, the waiting staff were friendly and helpful.

The interior is very nice. Ordered two glasses of Chardonnay and it wasn’t chilled. Asked for a replacement and the attitude of the bar person was to make me feel as if I had asked for something unreasonable. She said the wine was from the fridge, as another customer said to me “just being in there doesn’t mean it’s cold “. She brought another bottle, also not chilled. I asked to change to Sauvignon which was very chilled. Proved my point and was grumpily told that is because it was in the ice well. Not an experience I will be repeating. I’ve had better service at Weatherspoons for a third of the price 😕

A beer and a wine - taken out a new mortgage to pay for it !

The service was slow with both the drinks and food. The GF seasonal fish and chips was very poor. The fish felt as though it had been microwaved. The non GF fish and chips came with the fish overcooked and the chips undercooked. However, the chicken course was delicious. We will not be eating there again.

This is our go to place. Food never disappoints and the atmosphere is fantastic!

I have been to this restaurant/pub a few times and the atmosphere has always been amazing. Great staff, great food (steak in particular is very good) and great beer selection. I would definitely recommend!

I was extremely impressed with the service and resultant positive atmosphere when I visited. We had a lovely dinner with the pork platter/sharer a particular standout, it was absolutely outstanding. As a non-drinker I was pleased to see a wide variety of alcohol free beverages on offer. The Lucky Saint on draft was incredible. I will definitely be back for more food and drink!

Went called in advance and were told the restaurant was fully booked but we could sit in the other areas, presumably the bar, where there was no table service. There was a queue when we got there and it wasn’t clear whether the queue was for the restaurant and whether we should just walk in and find our own table. The staff seemed a bit disorganised but were friendly and polite. There was a lack of vegetarian options for mains - salad, risotto (seems to be the standard veggie option in most places, very unimaginative), a fake meat burger, or a tomato pizza. We ordered two pizzas at the bar and when they arrived, my friend’s pizza had hardly any mozarella on and mine had way too much - very inconsistent. The pizzas were £13.50 upwards and honestly, tasted like Greggs pizza only the tomato sauce was overpowering and there was way too much of it. I would expect much higher quality pizzas for the price considering Rudy’s is about £10 for the same pizza and it’s delicious. The new decor is nice but the food was very disappointing. We used to come here for food often as it was always nice but honestly won’t be returning for overpriced, unpleasant food and a confusing experience.

Popped in for the pub quiz this past Wednesday. It was my first time visiting for the quiz, was a great atmosphere and an enjoyable time had by all. The service was speedy and friendly with good choice of drinks available. Will defo be back for the next one 🙂

Myself and my partner popped in for lunch last week. Couldn't fault it for what we paid. Quick and friendly service

Disappointing experience. Overpriced. Poor quality food. We ordered starters.. OK my friends mussels looked great. However my mussels as a main came out cold with little sauce. Waiter apologised and said they would prepare another one... same plate came out, microwaved and water added to sauce. Disgusting. I sat watching my three companions eat their meals. Ordered a cheese board, luckily could only order 3 cheeses not 5 because "we only have 3 types". THE worst cheeseboard ever. Despite telling them I had a severe intolerance to seeds, there was a slaw with seeds in, great, couldn't even eat that. Cold brie, small piece of cheddar and an end of cheese I can't even recognise and would have thrown in the rubbish bin. Lazy kitchen staff. Never again.

Food is delicious bit on the pricey side but it is more than just a pub! Very dog friendly inside as well as on the patio. Staff are very helpful and service is prompt

Came here after recommendations, and heard about the refurbishment. Upon arrival we was greeted by Darcey who introduced herself and was genuinely very bubbly and outgoing. Immediately we knew our visit was going to be great to which is surpassed that and was very memorable. Drink selection was good and good areas to sit in a comfort environment. Darcey kept coming over to see if we was okay and enjoying our visit! Genuinely if she was my member of staff, I’d certainly be lucky to have here. Will definetly be back.

Red Wine extortionately expensive

I like this restaurant but not so much since their refurbishment last year. The menu is overly fussy and the interior isn't as cosy. In saying that the food was high quality, service was great, interior was clean. Part of the dessert we ordered was unavailable - no caramelised bananas- and this was quickly substituted which was appreciated. I regard this place as a special occasion venue now rather than a place to just pop for a meal.

We chose The Four Oaks as it was dog friendly. We were not disappointed, it was a beautiful afternoon, we sat on the front patio which was really lovely. The staff were fabulous, the food was fabulous and the dog was treated to water and biscuits 🐩💖.

Great service. We were made to feel very welcome on a warm day. The member of staff advised us where best to sit with a baby and offered to help with moving the pram if we wanted to sit in a shaded area outside. Good was also good. It was a quite lunchtime but I imagine three atmosphere would be good on a Friday or Saturday evening!

From the point of walking in to the point of us leaving absolutely amazing all round. Will 1 million % go here again. Relaxed, chilled environment and the food was amazing 👏 🤩 😋 🙌 👌 Thank you too all the staff for a brilliant experience.

Disappointing Experience at The Four Oaks Our visit to The Four Oaks was deeply disappointing from the moment we arrived. Instead of receiving a warm welcome, the host was engrossed in a conversation with two girls at the bar and greeted us with a dismissive smile, for reasons unknown. They even looked us up and down, adding to the uncomfortable atmosphere. When we requested to be seated in the garden instead of our booked table, he handed us the menus without offering any directions to its location. This made us feel overlooked and undervalued as customers. Rather than spending our money at this establishment, we decided to leave. In summary, The Four Oaks seems to prioritise a certain type of customer over genuine hospitality. If you don't fit their expected mould, you might not receive the level of service you deserve.

Visiting the area. Searched for a dog friendly pub. Came across this little gem of a pub. Excellent food and very friendly staff.

Had a lovely meal here on Sat 6/7/24 with my hubby. Staff very friendly and food is always lovely. Our waitress Maria was very attentive and friendly. The pub also hosted my mothers wake for her funeral on the 17/6/24. All guests commented on how lovely and fresh the food was and it was presented lovely. Had a nice airy area for our guests to celebrate my lovely Mum. My mum always liked to visit for a meal with us over the years xx

First visit and overall very good. Friendly staff and tasty food. Wine on the high price side. Need to improve QA on cutlery and dusty fake plants I would recommend and return...

Very nice place and staff very polite and helpful , got us a high chair for my son and brought it out to my partner while I was getting drinks. Pizza was very nice and loads of seating to choose from. The garden area at the back is particularly nice

Friday lunchtime visit, staff were very welcoming for us and our pooch. Food was outstanding, very tasty. Going to book an evening meal here, look forward to returning

A disappointing experience. This is a lovely venue but customer service tonight wasn't great. Staff were chatting and walking past rubbish on the floor. Food was really good but my vegetarian Wellington came with a beef gravy and I had to ask for a veggie one. All in all not terrible but had the feeling no one cared too much and maybe the Manager wasn't there.

Came here for a Sunday Roast with my mom and my dog it was our first time after discovering it was dog friendly as we needed somewhere after our walk in Sutton Park. All the staff were friendly even though my dog became a little bit temperamental throughout the meal with some of the servers. We still felt really welcome considering my dog had a funny moment. The roast itself was beautiful and everything was cooked perfect in fact I’d go to say it’s the best roast I’ve had all year. Can’t recommend this pub enough and will definitely be returning. PS the lilliet spritz is a 10/10 cocktail.

Had a lovely meal, portion size was huge and the food was spectacular. Thank you to the lovely manager Eleasha who served us she was brilliant. Highly recommend.

Very nice decor etc, food is excellent but expensive

Went there ( for the first time, after moving to the area a couple of months earlier ) on Tuesday 8th May for our anniversary. Had a cocktail, sat outside for a bit ( very nice outdoor area, and a cocktail bar outside also). Then ate indoors. Food was lovely, will definitely be coming here again.

Went for lunch. A very nice up market place to visit. Decore is beautiful. Had the bang bang chicken which was tasty. Service was good. Would definitely go again for an evening meal.

Excellent quality of food and service!!

I thought it was me but then I looked back at the 1 or 2 star reviews and couldn't help but notice the most recent were from South asian reviewers who experienced a bad service mostly. I'm new to the area, about 1 year and walking distance to this pub, female South asian decent and at first I thought the women behind the bar were genuinely busy/disinterested but it seems after having numerous business lunches/meetings and evening dinners there, they treat South asian customers WAY different to a middle class white man. I hate to say it but this evening me and my South asian female friend stood at the bar and the all female staff ignored us and served numerous customers before us. The manager is clearly the ring leader cos she came and whispered something in both bar tenders ear and they went to pick up glasses instead of serving us, on a busy Friday night circa 10pm. As soon as the middle class white guy came they all ran to him and served him with smiles. We didn't even get a thank you or even a please. Mike if you are reading this, check your cameras circa 10pm last night and see how the girls treated us!

The Four Oaks has a very pleasant environment - both inside and in the outside area. It is definitely one of, if not the, most attractive pubs in the area. It was the first time we have eaten there and we were very pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food - again a big cut above the average, and well worth the slightly premium price. The service was mixed to be honest. Our actual server was cheerful, polite and very engaging. However, there were a few shortcomings. Getting a drink on arrival was slow - we should have gone via the bar ourselves. And the water we ordered was delivered to the table - but no glasses. One of the main courses needed a spoon, but we had to ask for one. So overall we very much enjoyed the visit and we will certainly eat there again. The points I make are given as suggestions to the management as to how things can be made even better.....

Food was very good, large portions. Wines were delightful. Service was exemplary. Maria was our server, did not have to wait for anything.

Delicious Sunday Roast at the Four Oaks today. Wanted to try a dessert but was so full from my Roast Beef. Will be back to try out the regular menu. Shoutout to Meg who served us in the bar area. She couldn’t have been more accommodating to our needs. (Especially to my children and elderly parents!)

A lovely Sunday Lunch with good choice options, friendly and attentive staff and nice ambience. Roast beef was perfection, root vegetable selection was nicely cooked and well presented. A good choice of addtional sides were available and reasonably priced. Desserts were light and tasty. A special mention must be made to Maria who provided great service to one of our party who had particular dietary needs which were expertly addressed with empathy and good humour. Well done and thank you.

Probably the best food I have had in years!!!!

Looks like most of the staff are students. So don’t engage or give a ****. Probably need a better training program. The Boat Inn in Solihull sister pub much better and matured staff.

Disappointed, booked a table for dinner and on booking were told we would get 20% off the bill as it was our first time of dining. We decided to have the 2 courses for £18.50. Food was ok, service quick. We were not offered water for the table and the server got the drinks incorrect, I ended up with a pint of larger shandy not a half as I had stipulated. My husband had to tell the server twice that he wanted his steak medium rare. When it came to paying the bill which we were told was over £70, I queried it and was told because we did not tell the server we were having two courses for £18.50 they had charged on the main menu price and as we had chosen the two courses for £18.50 this did not allow us to have the 20% discount. The manager did refund the £70 but advised it would take between 3 and 5 days to come back to my account, she then adjusted the bill to cover the two meals at £18.50. I find it somewhat annoying that the customer is expected to Advise the staff, when we pointed to the items on the menu . We will not be rushing back and feel that other dinners need to be aware of this.

Stix - we ordered stix to share - the portions were tiny and at £28 was not at all value for money and disappointing in both value, taste and quality

Excellent and friendly service. Made us, including our two dogs, very welcomed. Food was very good and delicious and good portions.

Second visit. Really nice vibe both visits. Really warm and polite staff. Drinks are great. The food wasn’t as good the second visit as the first. The sharing cote de boeuf was more fatty than meat this time and the onion rings were cold and mainly batter. Didn’t stop us having a lovely evening though.

Booked table had to wait for it to be cleaned ordered drinks Had 2 dirty glasses offered to me. Had to have fish and chips tar tar sauce was not to my liking..fish was OK.had cauliflower cheese instead of peas and it came very dry. Ordered deserts of trio ice cream wasn't impressed with that either..very tasteless. Will not be going again..

Sunday Lunch is a must. We visited for the first time since the refurb. Food was top notch, the beef was tender and had all the trimmings, my husband and i loved it. Our waitress Beth was attentive and lovley. This is going to be our new regular!

Food was fantastic, came quickly. The honeycomb butter was not only complimentary but also delicious. Maria was an excellent and attentive server, and made us feel very welcomed and comfortable.

Visited for lunch today, there wasn't any space in the restaurant so was sat in the bar. Turned out to be a great experience, great food and our server Beth was great. Will be visiting again.

Absolutely lovely dinner, chose a roast dinner , it was delightful. Everything was soo tasty & quality of the beef was exceptional. One thing I would say , it could have been a tad hotter when it arrived

Went for Sunday lunch. Beautiful place and excellent food and customer service. Just one tip - if you don’t like your beef pink and bloody - make sure you tell them when ordering.

Large family group first and last time we will visit . Had to leave the table three times to ask for more drinks , welcome and initial serving of drinks was excellent then we were handed over to another server who just disappeared between courses , second time I got up to go searching I found the individual in the corridor leading to kitchen on her phone . Food promised so much on paper but the kitchen failed to deliver on our visit . Really really poor , gastro pub descriptions and gastro pub prices but not even plastic menu big group main chain quality . You guys really need to review this complex offer , the kitchen jst cannot deliver . No desserts ordered as we had had enough and wanted to get out . What a shame spoilt our afternoon .

Came for a sunday roast with family. Food was good and service even better, we had a lovely server called Maria who made our visit even more enjoyable.

We had Sunday lunch today. It was absolutely lovely, the beef was divine, the vegetables plentiful and cooked to perfection. My only gripe, and it wouldn't alter my review or stop me coming again, was that it could have been a little hotter. It may be that we waited just a little for the veg but it didnt matter, we both cleared our plates. My friend and I go out for Sunday lunch every few weeks doing a little survey of the best in the area. The Four Oaks is now top. Some of the places we have been should have been top due their prices and their popularity but were huge disappointments. We will be back soon, maybe try their evening menu.

Great food, and a special service

Pretty good food as a reception for a funeral. Good atmosphere and MOSTLY reliable service. One complaint: It took two or three reminders for them to bring out the food.

Outstanding food and the staff were courteous, charming and really helpful. The whole experience was exactly what you want when you treat yourself to a special meal out. We had the beef on a Sunday and the whole plate was delicious. I had the sticky toffee pudding and I’m not a pudding person but it was outstanding

The venue has been done out really well, great places to sit and enjoy drinks and chats. Staff were friendly. Wine was nice though a but pricey. The food was a big let down. Partners food was cold and had to be warmed up. My meal came with no veg at all, so had meat and slaw, as didn’t want my meal going cold waiting for veg. A real let down. Will go back, just for drinks though.

Food was amazing, squid the best I`ve ever had, brie dish was okay. My tortellini was out of this world, Steak was good but not amazing, Rissoto was nice. Only one person had dessert some icecream, as the rest of us didn`t particulary like the choice, would have like a creme brulee. My only complaint was that the young staff serving need to be educated on what some of the items on the menu are, as when I asked particular questions they had to go and ask, and returned with a confusing answer?
