Just a passing visit, but very nice,a mixed naan bread, plenty for your money, very nice

40 minutes I had to wait, then she put a cod on for me , which took about 20 minutes more, she was trying to fob me off with a haddock, I insisted I wanted cod, she wasn't happy about that Bad attitude, told them the service was really bad and they were grinning at me. My opinion, the staff will bring that business down in the future, by the way food was really bad , I don't how they get away with it, burned chips and the fish was raw, , the mother daughter and duo, its really bad staff, they think they own the place, if you think this food is good, then you definitely not been good food places, never going anywhere near that place.

I have been using this Chippy for more years than I care to remember food as always been great wide choice of menu very clean and great staff. I have never had to complain about the food. I would say that Venus is one of the best in Stoke-on-Trent and I have been in a few as I have lived in Stoke-on-Trent all my life and am now 74 young now. So keep up the good work gang.

Very popular place . Busy at times . Cash only . Used afew times . Always plenty of chips. Good valve for money. We had two sausage and chips curry sauce. Staff always friendly. Recommended

Worst chippy ever! £21 for 2 mixed meat kebabs, we had one piece of donner and a small quantity of some bland chicken meat, wrapped up in a "naan" which was just a wrap that was cooked so hard I could have knocked some sense into the woman serving us, who was a few pennies short to say the least

Food and value is good but the one negative is that if you order online it says come in 15 minutes, 3 times I've given it 25-30 and all 3 times they don't actually start the order until you get there, so you're awaiting another 5-10 minutes. They should make it clear on the app that it won't be ready until they start the order when you get there. Thats the only poor point, so be prepared for that. Other than that it's nice food and the value is good.

Excellent,well cooked food at a reasonable price ruined by the ridiculously slow service in spite of their being numerous young ladies serving. At least 50% of the time when I go to Venus for food I leave before getting served due to the excessive wait and end up eatinh elsewhere.

Always busy but the staff work as quick as they can to get everyone served as quickly as possible, because it's so busy the food is always freshly cooked & nothing stands for to long

I've been using here since moving to Stoke in 2006, and I never had any reason to never return. Proper Chippy for a very good price. 👍

Ordered a meat box had from here before but tonight meat hard burnt , chips bad bits and tomato relish taste like vingar been added, onion rings greasy and burnt batter , battered sausage overdone burnt ends the meal was totally disgusting , if traffic wasn’t so bad I would of took it back and got a refund , I totally understand why it’s cash only so you can’t get your money back notice you don’t get contact if you leave negative review, neither do you get a courtesy text back ,, this place takes your money, and doesn’t give a dam about it customers. Perhaps a requalar visit from the food hygiene or council may sought this out in the near future

Our fish and chips were absolutely inedible,the worst food I have ever purchased from a chippy,fish and chips both nearly cold and I only had to go I street away I think they cook too much at one time ,I can't wait for the Vicky road one to open,I have used this chippy for years but feel as I have just thrown a tenner away,most gone in the bin

One of the most clean place around. I use to get delivery of whole sale as part of cash&carry business. Been on back of many kebab shops, pizza shops and fish and chips. This one one of most clean ones. So when had to buy some fast food if not too far always collect from this place. Food fresh and cheaps not frozen and fries, it's done from fresh potatoes that day. Inside there sit and eat tables as well. Really nice place, recommend to visit.

Chips consistently very good and enjoyed by all. Pies sometimes not as warm but pukka. Chicken and chips loved by one daughter. Kebab chicken tikka my sons fave, tender and crisp outside goes brilliant with mayo and very generous portions. Family that runs v friendly, aided by variety of extras as so popular. Guaranteed nice meal.

Chips absolutely awful, waited ages to get served seemed more bothered about sorting out telephone orders while people stand in the shop waiting and would be nice to see staff smile.

Bought a double cheeseburger today and it was that badly cooked it was rock hard and taste very bad other than that the chips are good

I'd AVOID if you don't want to waste money or food.. This place Very Nasty and a pure Waste of Money ADVICED NOT TO BOTHER .. Chips are hard, dry and have eye's and bits of pealing left on them.. And chips are always re-warmed the next day wich makes chewing them feel like plastic chips. No good for people with false teeth. STAFF are rude they chat to each other about their customers treat their customers with disrespect.. The dinning area is always filthy.. Anything you order they've never got available. They can't cook right it's why they never give out a receit. So there is no refunds available...

I love this place. Everything is Halal first of all. They literally prepare their food in 2 seconds in front of you. The food is really delicious and always Piping hot.

Had fish and chips today cost me £8.50 you get mash up fish covered in grease. no Quality at all ! Asked for mayonnaise on the food but you can you get white runny liquid which is noway near mayonnaise or tast like mayonnaise!!

I have been taking my nephew here for year on a Saturday evening. It’s very busy so I usually ring my order through before hand… he actually won’t eat any where else… He is your biggest fan 😂donnar meat and chips salt and vinegar with mayo…. If you know you know… Would I recommend 💯✌🏽

My experience and children's has been terrible, I decided to buy some chips from the chippy as I was feeling knippy, and got the children some at the same time in the evening. I will start by saying, I had to wait for the chips to be cooked, *what can happen normally, so no problem there* well I got my chips after got home i shared the food out, the chips did not look freshly cooked, there where black ones, what didn't looked burnt but, a nasty gone off chips, and they where wet rubbery like they are stale, well for the first time my son was sick in bed 2 years of age, and today for the first time he exploded in his knappy, I am very annoyed and angry and charged me £4 just for a small bag of horrid chips and a fish cake, they have gave us food poison and horrible food, they should be ashame of themselves, this let's the area down, the workers don't even look happy, best chippy in stoke on trent, are you having a laugh, those who may say that must never gone out of Hanley, and I wouldn't say best chippy in Hanley too, they need reporting to the food agency, payed money for food what has caused food poisining.. This place has no morales today, sorry like but charging that amount of money for food what causes sickness and diarea means food poisioning too, that's why I'm saying this.. End of the day, if you are not up for supplying the food to everyone at the standards as it should be then you shouldn't have this business, How would my son first time be sick in bed and explode everywhere the next day from eating you garbage poison food.. that only means food poisoning?? Stay away people these don't deserve your money until things changed. Just pure greed....

Good food reasonable prices. Been going since 1999. Was refurbished some 8-10 years back and has been meticulously maintained since. The standards have been kept up

9/6/23. Again chips have been cooked and cooked to death twice or more. Sorry Venus , won’t be using again. Understand you want to get the que gone quickly ( yet we work hard for our money ) And deserve what we pay for

Really poor quality food, no where near upto their usual standard......recooked chips that resembled soggy slugs, sausages that were grey in the middle and cold chicken meat. Sorry venus but we will not be returning! Where's the love gone?

Best fish and chips in Stoke, love this place

Been using Venus fish bar for ages. However, just seems to get worse each time I go now. On my last visit, staff were rude and food was rather disappointing.

this spot is so scrumptious. i had it on my own, quick preparation and great staff. will come again.

2023-Jun: Visited just before closing, but still got food :). Had small fish and chips, Dad had Schwarma. Fish and chips were okay, reasonably sized for the price. Took them a while to sort out our milkshakes, but they were busy doing the end of day cleaning preparing to close for the night. On that note, having previously worked at a fish and chip shop I was impressed at their cleaning routine and overall cleanliness of the place. When we arrived the seating area was a bit messy but by the time we left it was gleaming again. The kitchen also looked very clean, no sign of grease build up on the cooking equipment or the white walls and they were washing down the kebab machines as we (seated) ate. I didn't see them clean the hot box but to be fair it still had food in it and was hot. 2022-Jan: Massive portions, yummy food, not too long queue on Sunday night. Seemed like the girl was a bit new/slow on the till but otherwise all good.

Went to this Fish and Chip shop,fish was very greasy and chips cold,sat inside the shop and tables hadn't been cleaned, won't be going again !!!!!!

Saw some lovely looking fresh chicken so I ordered some. But instead I got luke warm, dark brown, dried up pieces half the size. Fit only for the bin. Couldn't return them, I am disabled and use a cane.

We went tonight. Ordered food I love chips peas and gravey in that order! Explained that to the person who looked like a female. Who took payment and while waiting for chips to cook I imagine. Was taking the piss about what I wanted exactly with its/ her co workers! I'm not to good with my ears these days but my lady friend who can lip read told me about what she said when we got home! This is something that I feel I can't write on a review! Won't be going back again! I'm disgusted!

Nice friendly chippy. They accept card also which is "with the times" for a chippy. Mixed meat and chips is always a winner for those wanting a meat coma. It's absolutely loaded and the small is big enough for most I'd say. The mini fillet and chips is also always a good choice.

Beautiful food as always. You are around the corner to a elderly housing complex. When I needed to cheer up my 101 year old nan . You were there. You were v patient with me, I'm not well. You always help me. By been patient with me to decide on what I am having I've been to you a couple of times over the months . Thankyou. It is a treat for some that can not get out of there homes. As there is barriers when you can not walk out. Also help to people when they are so tired. They need something nice too eat. I will defo be back thanks. From a customer that you went above and beyond for. I was having an extremely bad day. You put a smile on two people faces. Thanks again.

I absolutely love the food here. This place gets so busy, but the staff are so good they whizz through the orders, no messing about. Prices are not bad, but the quality is amazing.
