Costa's Catch of the Day in Stoke-on-Trent

Went for fish n chips at prime time today, Friday 6pm. Shop was busy but plenty of staff on, all busy and working hard. Queue moved quickly - twas like a well oiled machine! Cook was in charge and instructing staff. I ordered haddock on entry and it was ready for me by the time I got to the till. Fabulous fish and chips as usual! Flaky fish, crispy batter - delicious. And lovely chips. Decent portion. Really great chippy, wouldn't go anywhere else. Thoroughly recommend!

Just been and eating now in the car park, chips really nicely cooked fish cake and spring rolls great! Glad we popped in!

I would highly recommend the fish from here. The chips were average but the fish was very very good.

We order 1 large fish and chips, 1x cheese n onion pasty and a small chips. Upon arriving the staff looked as though they would be rather anywhere but there. We asked for a small chips but a rude staff member told us they stopped serving at 3pm and that we only did large fish. We got a large fish. We were told to hurry up as they were closing in 10 minuets. The fish chips were very greasy and the batter is very soggy. Really disapointed and wont be returing. The food is very poor.

Would not recommend. Poor customer service, my friend asked for ketchup & was given garlic mayo, staff argued & shouted back RUDELY when we took the food back to complain. Me & my friends had dirty looks from the moment we went in, from all of the staff. Poor service.

DO NOT ORDER FOR DELIVERY The staff care not reliable, we made a order and I made a mistake on the delivery address, I rang Costas and was informed that the mistake would be rectified even though Uber Eats picked it. £55 worth if food not delivered and be told by Uber that the mistake was Costas fault because they hadn't changed the address and Costas reply was It's your fault for not ordering to the right address. Tonight I get a message from Costas that says "Karma will deal with you. I won't lose any sleep over you.. wow

Due to a mix up over delivery address, we contacted Costas and informed them hat the delivery address was different, they informed us it would be changed for the delivery driver. We never received the order and we were charged £55 for nothing, they blame Uber Eats, but the order address was changed before Uber Eats picked it up and were informed that it would be altered. Had a interesting conversation with them today. They have stated " Karma will deal with you , we will not lose sleep on you " . Will never use them again, rather use KFC

Order through Uber, absolutely shocking service. Order was incorrect so phoned store to be made out I cannot add up, Food I received was not the best either rubber chips and not hot, curry sauce was Luke warm Needless to say it’s the last time I will use Costas catch of the day

There are better places around stoke for half the price which you pay here Plus food as gone down hill compared to when we first started using around 2 years ago

When the time comes that you as a chip shop can't cook chips properly then it's time to switch the lights off and go home! The chips that were seved to me at 4pm on a Saturday afternoon a dog would have farted on them and passed them back, the fried chicken was a drier than the bottom of a budgies cage. ! DO BETTER!

Food tonight was terrible the chips had to of been re warmed chips they was horrible the sausage fish peas etc fantastic the chips are normally great best around but was let down tonight at 8.30pm they was real dark brown which is unusual so they most off been reheated etc

Was waiting over an hour for my food, I then checked the app to see where it was and it says delivered? Yet nothing has arrived 😕 I rang up the shop to see what had gone on, and was told it is nothing to do with us you will have to speak to uber 😒 I asked, can you send me my food that I ordered, and I was told no, not our problem, we have sent it once, its not our fault that it did not arrive 🤔 Well you happily took my money? Terrible customer service, young lad on the phone a complete 🔔 end

As a Yorkshire man I was taken away by my cone of chips and the taste. Great value, great taste.... The chicken looked good

Lovely fish here. All the food we've had is really nice. Big portions and they deliver.

I have used this chippy many times over the years and have enjoyed the food. However recently delivery orders seem to take priority despite a long queue developing outside onto the pavement. Mabye better staff allocation would help. Best to avoid on Friday and Saturday at peak times.

Very generous portions for the price. I had a chip cone and was shocked by the amount i was given. Lovely chips though really enjoyed them. Only had the chips so sadly cant comment on the rest of the menu but if im in the area on training again i will definitely return.

Ordered a large fish and chips and came to £10.20 The fish was very oily amd tasteles and the batter was soggy and greasy. The chips weren't great a d very greasy. I ate about a 3rd wasn't impressed. I've been a few times in the past and we're always nice. On this occasion not so much

I go and get fish and chips every fortnight and have done so for many years but last time we went the fish was not nice at all. It was hard and tasteless and it was as though it had been cooked a long time before we were served it. We have occasionally not enjoyed the fish in the past but as it does not happen often, I have not complained before but this time we really did not enjoy it - good of you to thank me for my feedback but that hardly reassures me about coming there again

Thank you, I was in the area so thought I would try as you have had some bad reviews recently. Your food was hot and the staff were very friendly. The fish had a very good bartering and was well flavoured. The sausage was the standard chip shop sausage no batter and was hot. The chips were a very substantial size with the staff applying a nice amount of salt and vinegar. The price was well with in the reasonable range. Over all a good chip shop

Good place for quick food. The packaging a great. Staff members always friendly and the food is good. Star lost as some food lacks a little. Chips are not the best I have had and the fritters are soggy and wet.

Virtually cold…. Rock hard chips. In my opinion, they’d been warmed up…& were no where near fresh. My fish was the same…. Tough virtually cold hard batter…. For £11.25 (with peas)…. This was without doubt the worst fish & chips I’ve had … I have been to Costas several time a before …& foods been fine… But I won’t be stopping by at Costas “Catch of the day” again.

We've been regular customers and have until this evening, really enjoyed the quality of the food. Unfortunately tonight the chips were cold and didn't appear to have had a recent frying session as they were limp as well. The fish was just edible but again cold and lacking the usual crispness.

Such wonderful food and helpful staff making sure you get just what was asked for.

Food is average and service is a bit slow

This is not a restaurant but just a chips shop so there are no seats but I rate it very highly. The two brothers who run the chip shop have been great with myself. I have to be very careful where I got as my wife is at high risk of catching covid. I ring my order in and they bring it out to me without me going inside. The lads and lassies who work there have been great and so patient bring my order out. Now to the food. The quality has always been excellent. We have had fish in batter, in bread crumbs, puddings and sausage. All have been very good and of a good size portion. I thourghly recommend this establishment.

The fish and chips from this place was amazing! Fish batter was sook fresh and crispy and the chips were fresh and dry, not greasy at all. A lovely lady served me and she was so polite and lovely. Place was spotless and can't fault anything. I could not eat the fish and chips quick enough. Literally salivating as I type!!

Decent little chippy this that is busy at dinner time! They do lunch time meal deals/Specials too at a half decent price. They do kebabs also and wraps. Would definitely recommend if you're in the area and looking for somewhere for dinner 👍

Can"t rate this highly enough. Firstly, the food is of an excellent standard and there is always plenty of it.Secondly, the staff are fantastic. The lads and lassies who serve the food are always courteous and friendly and the two bothers who own the shop have been brilliant with me.

Sadly getting worse now ... Not good but ruined by continuous Uber collection ... And phone orders ...whilst customers wait around in shop or cold outside for up to half HR .... Chaos behind counter ... Food last week was charged over £2 too much ...I can actually count on the chips I get given in a chip kebab ...and for £2.70 ... really .... Think needs a head wobble b4 it losses it's foot customers base .... As it's getting worse ....sadly

This is an excellent fish & chip shop with a varied menu. We have been using this chip shop throughout the pandemic. The quality of food has been excellent and the service brilliant. The young lads and lassies who serve us have been terrific as have the two brothers who run the place. My wife is suffering from leukemia and has to be extra careful as she is at risk and so they actually bring the order out to me. I cann't speak highly enough of them.

always nice, only downside is don't pour gravy, curry or peas over food and just in pots but everything else spots on

Reasonable price, in an accessible area. I got fish, chips and gravy. The first two items were good, but the gravy was too thick that it was almost lumpy. Another time, I ordered the value box. Good deal for the portion of food, however the doner kebab was too thick for my liking. However, it’s one of the best chippies in the area!

Yet again ordered a value box at £9.15 to share with my wife and again no southern fried chicken in the box . Happened last month but I thought everyone makes a mistake so I did not follow it . But this is the second time now . If the shop is not serving sfc in the box no more please state on your menu 😡

The chicken kebab I ordered to day was to salty, won't be ordering another one from here.

I brought a portion of chips from here and they were excellent. A good portion size and well priced. I would recommend this place for the chips.

Yet again another bad service from Gus, took my money and tried to refund me when I paid via contactless. Obviously does not like customer feedback for absolutely shocking service received on a past order and obviously doesn't want me to see if the service has changed. All businesses should be able to take criticism and not cry over it. Gus pointed out my bad reviews could damage his business, at the end of the day your damaging your own business with your extremely poor customer service.

Best burger and chips - such good value, lots of fresh salad as an extra without an extra cost. Very good value for money and friendly staff.

This is my favourite fish & chips place for the past 7years of being in Stoke on Trent. And i have tried fish & chips all over the county. Their food is freshly cooked, professionally packed and reasonally priced. Polite and friendly staff. Clean,spacious and airy establishment. No complaints 👍

Quick service. All safety precautions in place for current times. Good food. Cooked well and nice and hot. Took a star off because the potato fritter wasn't quite as crispy as I like them to be. But otherwise a great meal. Will definitely return.

Had fish special with sausage for £4.25Initially thought good deal but very disappointingFish was very thin and all batter, sausage cheap but expected that . Box filled with chips to look a lot. Tasted a bit of dirty oil think if gone day later and not changed oil would not be good.Minimum card spend £5.50 which means can’t have a special if not got cash Positive side fast polite service oh and comes in nice box !!!

I order my food here at 1:53pm should only take 35mins to get but I got Priority order so it should take 20mins so it said estimated arrival time 2:20pm like shouldn't take long I was thinking to myself should be here soon long story short I'm still waiting here at 2:49pm more than double the time I was expected and b4 u say anything there was no traffic at all so I don't see the issue of it taking so long

Me and my family are very regular customers here, not anymore however. I this evening used Uber eats to order food for me and my son but when the order came there was missing items, I telephoned the shop to inform them of this and all they said is they can't do anything as they don't have a delivery driver (I for one know that the owners have cars) I was told they would put my name down for a free drink next time! How is that good enough when I've ordered it TODAY? I was told I had to pick it up myself when I have already paid delivery fee for this. Myself working for a business that uses Uber and if I receive a complaint of missing items will personally go out of my way to deliver to keep that customer and their business, the brothers obviously don't want to have returning business. When I went to pick up my order that I had paid for delivery there was not one word out of Gus' mouth, bless you !

Spot on quality food reasonably priced

Much more better now the Fish and Chips are served in cardboard boxes, the fish stays crispy when I arrive home and plate up. Very happy with the changes!

I have used this chippy for years. Tonight Iv been in for the first time after a couple of months, I had my usual, it’s gone up from £8.00 to £10.50. I understand things have to go up however When I got my food home My chips were in a box and what I would normally share with my mum there was hardly any in there. Not very impressed that they have increased prices and halved the portion sizes whilst being able to put the extra money towards fancy packaging and new price lists, I use catch of the day because the portions and food are good for the price not because it comes better presented. Will be finding somewhere else.

Food was delicious & like the fact that it comes in a box. So much better than wrapped in paper. Staff are always friendly.
