Great service, lovely food and reasonable prices

Chips were typical chippy quality and taste nice. Fish was cooked but the batter wasn't crispy. Pale all over and soggy in parts. Chicken nuggets were nice and crispy. Portion size, we had a large sausage and chip special there was about a handful of chips. Mini fish and chip portion was very good value for the size.

Forget this place.. not used in a long time and wow has it gone to the dogs. Shows the times we are in and type of people taking over the town.. as you can see for yourselves , their responses to some people are at the standard of the food.. shame

I have used this chip shop for years and even when it was taken over I've never had a bad meal. Each time I have gone to the shop the staff are friendly and efficient and speak perfectly good (stokie) English 🤣. Thanks for a great service!

I used to come here for years, but since it was taken over, it's gone completely down hill. Had to wait ages for the food to be cooked, all the while, having the people behind the counter, talk at me in different languages. Whilst waiting for my food, someone else came in to order and as part of their order, they asked for a pie. To which, I saw a member of staff take one out of the freezer and then proceed to heat it. I couldn't believe my eyes. The warmers were all completely empty. No point in them even being there, let alone switched on. There was no gravy at all, so even had to wait for that to be made. Got the food home to find the peas were stone cold. As though they'd just been poured from a tin, directly into the polystyrene cup. The batter on the fish was so anemic, it was practically the same colour as the fish inside. After more than 10 years, going to this chippy, I can honestly say that tonight, I've had my final meal from there... They clearly know nothing about how to run a proper fish & chip shop. Sad day indeed. Since it was once the best chippy in the area. The owner trying to lie in their response, only points out just how bad this place is, now it's been taken over. You told someone on here a month ago that you'd been there for 2 years, now you're trying to tell me 3 years. Can't keep track of your own lies. I do know for a fact that everything I said was the complete truth because I saw it all with my own eyes. It wasn't late at night, it was only sometime after 6pm. Your staff weren't speaking English. Your staff DID take a pie straight from the freezer (which is not fresh cooking) and the peas were stone cold! As for the batter on the fish - it should be GOLDEN, not almost white. Everyone local knows just how long it's been since you took over, so stop trying to lie online to fool other people. You're a disgrace and you've dragged the loftus name down into the dirt!... and I'm not the first person on here to say as much!

Ordered food was told they would have to cook our battered sausages but we had to wait for chips anyway so no problem. We were the only people in the shop when we ordered. After waiting for 10 minutes the chips were ready but they hadnt bothered cooking the sausages for us so another 5 minute wait. Terrible service more bothered about online orders than the people standing in front of them. Used to go here every weekend but since it was took over has gone down hill.

When I've got the money I trade myself I read fish chips curry mushroom peas Donna meat and the other one absolutely beautiful stuff excellent well worth going to see my dog loves some donor meat and he just put it on a plate and he's absolutely enjoys it

Bought mum and dad fish and chips a few nights ago, in short, they had to throw them in the bin, chips were dry as though they had been warmed up from lunchtime and the fish was practically raw, not great at all, this chippy used to be the best but something has changed for the worse I'm afraid

Please please cook your food utilizing a food thermometer at least until you get used to how long it takes to cook the various food types you sell. We had a fish in breadcrumbs freshly cooked sorry to say but it was so overcooked and hence extremely dry, it was cooked for 6 to 8 minutes when 4 minutes would have been adequate. As said above please utilize a food thermometer.

The food came fast and hot but the chips were soft and soggy and the plaice was tasteless and soggy. Shame because their chips used to be really nice. The whole meal was disappointing I won't be ordering again.

Didn't hold out much hope when I pulled up here for fish and chips but was actually really pleasantly surprised when I got back in the car and scoffed them. Will 100% be back, they are the best I have had in the Stoke area and I have tried quite a lot of them being that fish and chips is my favourite food

Wish I could give it 10 stars!!! Absolutely hands down best fish and chips I've ever had. Large battered cod was like something you see on a poster. Thick, chunky brilliant white. Arrived piping hot. Just gorgeous!

Not good at all. Ordered a burger that came with one sauce, no salad, no onion or tomato, not even a hamburger bun instead some weird type of bread lol. Absolutely tasteless. Very dissapointed and will not be ordering again :(

Terrible food, soggy fish and chips with old hard bread. Waste of money and wouldn''t recommend, avoid.

Awful Used to be so good when it first opened, all the staff are miserable. Had 'salad' and it was brown, food was cold. Not good at all.

Gone from one of the best fish and chip shops in the area to the worse. Never have chips ready. Donner meat shrivelled up and you need a hammer and chisel to get through the chicken and when you do it was drier than the Sahara 🏜. Prices have gone sky high as well. Don't bother wasting your money here.

We got home , there was a fish missing and this was the state of the pudding . All mush like it had been sat in water . It was disgusting . The chips were soggy and the fish batter has no crisp to it at all . Everything is just soggy . Donor meat is stale . Won’t be going there again! Lost good customers as we used to go here all the time

OMG absolutely the best chippy. Unfortunately due to Covid travel restrictions we are unable to travel from Australia to visit our family in Stoke on Trent. We always make sure we have chips, pudding, mushey peas with curry sauce at least once a week when we go over. Absolutely fantastic. OMG I would love to be eating it now. Can't wait.

Firstly the shop itself is very appealing externally, on entering it is very clean and all of the staff wear aprons and always have a nice appearance. The food, we always find that the food, (Whatever we have) is perfectly cooked and never greasy as per some local chip shops. The prices are as per the normal for a chippy. There is always a happy smiling face to greet you on entry and usually a bit of light banter too... Make your way here, even go out of your way to visit Loftus for your lunch or tea, you will not regret it... Two Breadcrumbed Fish..

Good quality, proper fish and chip shop.

Called by chance on a Tuesday Evening. Loftus used to be my main port of call when I lived in the area but havent been for many a while but I was passing this particular night and thought I would give it a try. To be honest getting decent fish and chips in Hanley is really tough but I have to say the two battered Cod that my Wife and I had were as good as I have ever had.....I really couldn't fault it.....excellent and well worth a visit from anyone . Not the cheapest but quality rarely is....I simply couldn't fault it .Thank you !

Recently they closed so they could update the shop, we tried other places, but none were as good as here. The fish is perfectly cooked and chips amazing. I would recommend these to anyone. Staff are very friendly.

Good menu for lunch times and always fresh

Light batter on lovely fish (we had Cod today) classic Chip Shop Chips and Mushy Peas. Staff friendly and helpful. Many other goodies on the menu (Chicken, two types of Kebab grill, Burgers, none of which we tried today, and sales available too. Well worth a try, and we will visit again.

From out of all the chipshops in Hanley I highly recommend these there fish n batter tastes fresh and the batter does not taste as it's been freid with other products like alot chipshops do . This is the closest to what your get from a seaside . Awsome prices , very well managed staff which create a lovely welcoming atmosphere. 10 out of 10 every time.

I love fish n chip shops and Loftus is the best in town for sure. And living round the corner from the shop is great to have a great service and brilliant staff. Iv never had a bad meal in 12 yrs. Loving the new look to.

Best chip shop in the area lovely staff best curry sauce I’ve ever had I travel 200 miles every week to stoke and look forward to my chips curry sauce and pineapple rings my wife adores the fish chips and curry sauce. So sad because this used to be a Traditional Fish & Chips shop. I have used it for years but not anymore.

It's good, but not as good as Scottish fish and chips!

I'm not sure if this place is under new management but the chips are delicious. There was something missing the last few times I've had chips there but now they've got them perfect. They're traditional chip shop chips not the crispy fry like chips everywhere tends to do nowadays. They now do kebabs too. The staff are nice and friendly.

Great Chip Bap - Best in the potteries

We visited on a rainy Tuesday afternoon as we happened to be in Stoke and had been told to visit Loftus. The chips were excellent and my other half said the fish batter was light and unlike anything he had experienced before. Service was very friendly and quick and the place looked clean and tidy. Yummy thanks.
