After a couple of hours in the sea we decided to treat ourselves to a portion of chips each. Not taking cash, the Mrs paid by card. Had I seen the price I'd have told them to not bother! £3.30 for a small portion of chips. They tasted OK, but £3.30! So, instead of this cafe charging a reasonable price ensure repeat custom, what it's done is alienate itself from us by over inflating their prices (probably to recoup from lockdown) and we'll never buy from them again. Shame, because Watergate is one of our regular beaches. The lady who took our order was polite and friendly, the cook was not.

You think I’m joking ? On New Year’s Day for a walk on the beach We were served 2 cold, hot dogs. One sausage was not very well cooked, and was left uneaten and also a ration of cheesy chips the chips were served lukewarm which meant that the cheese was in clumps of un melted gratings.Coffee did taste like coffee! 4 out of 5 for that!To serve food like that shows the total lack of respect and consideration for the clients, who pay a decent amount for what should be properly cooked and hot

We have been here before when on holiday and enjoyed their breakfast, they always opened a little late but didn’t mind as the food was nice. This morning they opened 20 minutes late, with no menu out to see what food they still did. The woman was there the whole time setting up but said nothing at all to the waiting customers. Once open (20 minutes late) the woman stood there and said nothing, and then we find out they no longer do the breakfast anymore so we left. The woman was so rude. We went to the beach hut next door and it was lovely and very friendly and kind service

Stopped at their ice cream van on the hill of watergate bay and was disappointed to say the least. The young boy with long blonde hair serving was very unhelpful and not at all friendly. The only time he spoke to us was when he was asking for the money! We could not see the choice of flavours and asked him and he just plainly said “look on the boards.” Not impressed with the customer service at all, how hard is it to chat to a customer to say the ice cream flavours you have; surely he knows! However, the ice cream itself was delicious (chocolate and vanilla) and my mum even commented how the cones were delightful too! Just a shame that the service let it down, we would’ve had ice cream somewhere else but couldn’t think of where else to get one on the beach. Overall, the produce was excellent but perhaps someone else who’s a bit chirpier should be on their own in the van to serve the general public. It makes you feel like a nuisance when he is miserable and doesn’t say much!

Placed order specifically asking for no tomatoes on burger. Waited 15 mins for food, which was then served with tomatoes despite being very clear during ordering process. Walked to beach and found they'd got the rest of the order wrong giving us two cheese and onion toasties and not tuna cheese toasties as ordered. Toasties tasted awful - horrible burnt fatty taste. Couldn't be bothered joining long queue and waiting again to rectify order. Won't be returning. They need to improve their processes.

Went to Watergate Bay during half term and used the "fast food" serving hatch. Ordered a bacon & cheese burger (£7.99) and a hot dog (£4.50). They were both terrible and tasted extremely cheap. Coffee and other drinks were also unbelievably expensive. This is a real shame as the area is great and other than this we love coming here - top tip - make your own sandwiches or, if like most people, you've forgotten how to, go to the nearest Tescos in Newquay and buy some. The chips were actually OK, but were £2.25, this may seem inexpensive, but you only get a tiny portion.

We went for breakfast before going out to the sea. We thought the prices seemed a bit high but thought at that price point there must be good service and food. It took a while for us to be served and the guy who did didn’t say anything to us apart from the price and didn’t make eye contact. We waited over 15 minutes for them to make two breakfast which alone wouldn’t be terrible apart from seeing just one woman making it whilst 3/4 teenage boys sat on the counter on there phones not working or helping.during the wait we saw them get frozen vegetarian sausages and microwave them.once we finally got the food it was average. A small portion for the price for sure. In the vegetarian breakfast we found a small price of bacon which is very annoying for a vegetarian

This café could be a goldmine - however, I feel it is not run to it's full potential and this is down to staff training. Slow service meant queueing for 30 mins sometimes for lunch orders etc If you are going to charge £2 for a can of coke, then at least provide the level of service to justify it. The quality of the food is good - the sandwiches and pasties etc, but if you could get someone to shake up the service, then this place could be getting 5* reviews all the time When on the beach and if it's sunny - you want to get your order in, get your food and get back to the beach, not queue for 30 mins at a time I really hope that this place turns itself around as it's a prime location with a very captive audience

Whilst walking my dogs I decided to stop at Venus on the beach front at Watergate bay. First impressions are that things are a little pricey, however Watergate bay is out of town and the hotel by the beach is a 5 star hotel, so you will always expect to pay more for a stunning location. I found the member of staff who served me very polite and knowledgeable on the menu they served. This is not a restaurant but a strictly take away service but all the food is sourced from the South West with a strong eco friendly vibe. The outstanding thing on their menu for me was the minted Lamb pasty, I've lived in Newquay for the last 9 years and have had my fair share of great (and not so great pasty's) but this is now my favourite, lovely chunks of lamb with a spicy Moroccan flavour. Would I eat here again, yes. My only concern is that the prices, even for great food are a touch on the high side, however they do have a captive audience with their location.

When ordering some food & drink from this establishment on the weekend it was made very clear that the member of staff did not want to be there and his attitude certainly showed this, we did not receive a hello or even a smile. After being given our food and walking down the steps to sit down, we realised that the cheesy chips we had ordered were stone cold. We took them back and politely informed the same member of staff that had served us before. He did not say a word, took the chips out of my hand and disappeared round the back. When he returned he then served the next customer without even informing me of what he was going to do. I did not receive an apology or anything and when I enquired wether he was cooking some more, I received an abrupt 'there in the fryer.' A lovely family afternoon was ruined by poor customer service, and rudeness.

This is a take-away restaurant. The menu is displayed on boards around the counter service. There are two cashiers serving and taking orders. I ordered a hot dog (described as local Cornish sausage in a bun, with fries). The male employee who served me was ok, but he misunderstood what I was ordering and only gave me the hot dog, omitting to include fries. The price advertised was £4.99. I asked for a tea as well, so the whole order should have been £6.50. I have gave him £10, He gave me £5.10 back so I questioned had he got order right. No he had'nt. He got the fries and then couldn't seem to work out how much to give me back. I told him what the price would be £6.50 and he needed to give me back £3.50. He couldn't work this out. Along comes a stroppy female employee, who I deduced was supervisor. Rude, arrogant and lacking any kind of customer skills. Told me I'd ordered a child's menu! As I said, that's irrelevant, the price is still £6.50 for two items ordered. She the just barged the poor male employee aside and did the order herself throwing some fries into a box & handing them and £5 back at me, failing to understand all round what the real cost and issue was. If I was owner of this restaurant I'd be concerned at the supervisors attitude and lack of customer service, but also the profit margins of her getting it so wrong. I had free fries and a tea because of her ignorance!

Two Bacon, Two Sausage, Two eggs, two hash browns, mushrooms, beans and toast. Whats not to like about this belly buster? The cafe is attached to the Watergate Bay camping park. The park is large, open with great facilities and everything is very clean and well presented, as is the cafe.I had been looking forward to this breakfast for some time. The service was a little slow. And I'm not talking about the wait for the food either which took an acceptable amount of time. When it arrived I was appalled by the presentation and quality of the food. The sausage was of the plastic variety more commonly seen in lay by diners. The food was dumped on the plate with a big splodge of beans in the centre of the plate. the toast was underneath this and consequently was just a round of soggy mush. The mushrooms were fine. The hash browns were singed. The whole thing needed at the very least a bigger plate and the toast served seperately. Whoever is running this cafe needs some educating. Perhaps I expect too much but this was the worst breakfast I have had this year by some distance. It smacked of minimum cost to the cafe with maximum profit. It was not good enough. For a couple of quid more I could have enjoyed a gourmet breakfast down the hill at watergate bay looking out over the ocean. Such a pity.

We queued quite a while which was expected as the beach was fantastic and you couldn't be blamed for wanting to take away rather than shut yourselves away in what were all great restaurants. But the service was very poor and the staff miserable. People complained about the food and bought it back. We felt that the staff on that day were probably temporary as only May but still they could have smiled. The queues prove it is well needed at that location but they just struggled with the volume of people. Would be interested to see how they handle the summer season! Will try again though.

It was a Wednesday (term time) morning, but it was sunny and the beach was relatively busy. There was a small queue at midday, but this did increase.Service was prompt, the female member of staff was effective, and the food was quick. The menu for a takeaway cafe was quite varied. First off don't get this place confused with the restaurant that is based on Tolcarne as they are different. I was down on the beach recently when I needed to buy something to eat. As with most cafes on a beach they have the lottery and a captive audience. If they didn't then this place would be out of business in a matter of weeks. An expensive menu with terrible food, the organic term flung around only counts for a small fraction of the menu. The rest is complete rubbish. I paid over £2 for what was essentially a quarter of a normal portion of chip shop chips and these were soggy, skinny french fries, they were also meant to be the 'large' portion. The rest of the food I saw on offer looks awful as well. I won't be eating or drinking a thing here again.

I do not normally write negative reports, but I have made an exception this time. I spent a lovely day on the beach with friends and family recently and bought lunch at Venus Cafe. Having queued for more than 25 minutes to get served, the food was inedible - the pasty had over cooked dried out pastry and the insides were a congealed mush. Nothing like a cornish pasty should be in cornwall. It made a Ginsters pasty from a garage seem like luxury food. My two daughters both had the organic burgers, which whislt they looked good, tasted awful and both refused to eat more than a couple of mouthfuls. The burger was very dry and had a terrible aftertaste. The worst bit about this was the cost. 2 burgers & chips, 2 pasties and 4 cans of drink were just short of £30. Terrible value for a take away from a beach cafe!

The area is stunning and so much could be made of this place but the food was revolting. We had just done a long drive and had not realised that most food is not readily available early in the week or after 2pm so went to the cafe hoping to get at least a snack and take in the views. The menu was very limited ,the staff did not seem to know what was available and were more concerned with sitting chatting outside. We ordered burger and chips and were eventually informed this was a veggie burger. Having gone through the limited choices we settled on chicken burgers. These turned out to be chicken goujons in a bun with some chips in a plastic take away container. There was no salad, relish or pickles and we were informed they had run out of mayo but might be some if I searched through the other sachets which were just inside the door.. There was no cutlery ,no serviettes and I had originally ordered cheese for the beef burger but did not get a refund or any alternative offered. This disgusting meal cost just under £30 !!! As we left the staff were sitting out in the sun chatting with friends and one lady was eating ice cream from one of the big metal containers usually used for freezer storage. Health and safety? Trading standards? This place could be fantastic given the views and location but this might have been the worst meal we have ever eaten and price wise very poor value for money. We recommend that you avoid this place at all costs.

For £6.75 for a dry no condiments chicken burger (with no chips and instead hash browns as they didn't have chips). Appalling. There are 4 staff in the kitchen across the counter, serving and kitchen. Plenty to perform the basic task. I would have expected at least mayo in the chicken burger. Whilst they also didn't have chips, they also didn't have sausages. Considering that half their menu has either sausages (breakfast) or chips it's a bit of a sad attempt. At best this was worth £3. No way was it worth £6.75.

We are for lunch at 1:15. Wanted something simple so we ordered Ham Egg and chips x 2. Served by very polite staff. When our meal arrived we were sadly disappointed. Chips were freshly cooked. But, the ham was cut so thin you could see the plate through it. One slice, I don’t think that they could buy cheaper. The eggs looked like they had been leftover from breakfast and wormed up under the grill. Not a good experience at all. What a shame could and should have been a simple enjoyable lunch, it wasn’t. Lesson learned.

The court heard how inspectors found rotting, mouldy and out of date foods at the premises. The premises were not adequately pest proofed, equipment and rooms where food was prepared were dirty and large accumulations of rubbish, grease and dirt were observed within the rear yard. A share as I'm fed up with this kind of establishment who have the trust of the people they serve to bring them decent and safe food. 3 times you have been warned ! Get out of this business !!!
