La comida es excelente, el servicio también, el personal muy amable. Restaurante ahora está bajo nueva gerencia familiar dirigido.

I am really surprised at the other reviews, we went here because it was the first restaurant we saw when coming out if Blackheath station and had a lovely evening - the staff must have been completely different people to those who served other reviewers because we never waited too long for anything, they were helpful without being obtrusive and even blew up a balloon for my daughter who got lots of smiles and attention. The restaurant itself is big but was actually warm and inviting with really nice lighting when we went in - especially as the weather outside was near freezing! The music in the background added to the atmosphere but could have been slightly louder. To begin with the chef sent out some pizza bread for us to try and the waitress explained they have just put in a new pizza oven on the restaurant floor where you can see your food being cooked, will definitely order pizza another time because what we tried was delicious. As for our main meals, there was absolutely nothing wrong with our food, I ate veal which was perfectly cooked and came out in a light sage and wine sauce and my wife had chicken with Parma ham, white wine and cream sauce. I have spent months skiing in Italy and this is exactly the type of food I would expect to eat in a mountainside restaurant - it does not pretend to be michelin star but it is authentically home cooked Italian dishes, with not a hint of bisto. I would always chose an indepedent restaurant over the likes of Strada and Bella Vista where possible and we will absolutely go back, I just hope other people give it a try too.

The food is sub standard, the service is even worst. The owner was very rude and has no respect for his customers. There are a few other Italian restaurants in Blackheath, trust me and go there!

We went with friends to try it not long after it had opened. We should have known something was wrong when we went in on Fathers day to find the place deserted, but put it down to it being new. We had a nice window seat in the sun and ordered drinks whilst looking through the menu. Firstly after getting the drinks wrong the waiter brought our drinks over and over balanced the tray, tipping my whole pint over me! I can see the funny side of this now, but thank god i wasn't there on a first date. After they tried to mop the floor around us we suggested being moved to another table, which they did. The manager came over and couldn't just apologise for me getting drenched, but made a joke of it, which is exactly what the restaraunt is. We ordered food and a starter appeared in front of three of us in less than a minute, reason it was so quick was that it wasn't our food, but the table next to us. They took these plates away, then bought them back out to give to the correct table. When our starters turned up the food was at best below average, i had a crab and melon salad that had as much shell as crab in it and proper limp melon, almost turning brown. The main meal turned up and i had lasagne, which i'm sure was out of a packet, very bland, nothing at all special about it. My girlfriend had chicken and white mushroom sauce, the chicken turned up, minus the sauce. We stopped a passing waiter to ask about the sauce and he bought over a bowl, like a soup bowl, of white sauce for her to spoon over. Clearly this is something they should have done before serving. She said the chicken was dried out and the sauce was cold. The chicken did look brown and dry. One of the other meals was the beef sunday roast, she said the "meat" was full of chewy fat and bone, like processed meat, the stuffing was without doubt processed not fresh and the rest of the meal was just as poor. The dessert didn't improve, i had profiteroles that arrived with angel delight poured over them, that might sound quite nice, but it was totally unexpected and just didn't work.Going to the gents i walked into to see the chef using the urinal,( for a wee, not cooking incase there's any confusion there), as he left i heard him run a tap for a second and walk out, i can only hope that when he went back into his kitchen he washed his hands properly. The urinal was blocked and almost level, so you can imagine the smell in there. The bill came to £100, which in my opinion was way over the top for what is a budget Italian at best. They offered us 10% off if we went back after six any day, but we left the card there, we will never go there again. The final insult to this dreadful experience was that both myself and the girl who also had Lasagne had terrible bad stomachs afterwards, the only thing in common was we ate there and the lasagne. Blackheath village has a number of Italian restaurants and they need to seriously up their game if they intend to keep going and compete with the established Italians. Next door is a Strada which is nice and offers nice varied food with professional staff. What is a pity is that this took over from an Indian restaurant that was briliant. The new owners have now set up this Italian and not made any changes, the decor is pretty much the same, tables and chairs, bar, layout all the same no effort has been made to put their own stamp on the place. Overall this was an awful experience that we will never go to again and i recommend you go to one of the other much nicer Italians in beautiful Blackheath village.

We visited as a family party of 9. Starters arrived over a 10 minute period. One of our mains took 20 minutes to appear and we gave up on 2 cheese plates for dessert after best efforts of waiting staff could not extract them from the kitchen. People around us waited even longer. Our meal took over 3 hours. When it came it was very tasty and well presented and we were compensated for our poor experience with a bill discount.

I went to Venice Restaurant for lunch and decided to have the 2 course set menu, I ordered the roasted mixed vegetables with sauce for my starter and was very satisfied as it was cooked to perfection, it came with a sauce that really added to the flavour, The main course needless to say was absolutely divine, I ordered the Lasagne, which was rich, creamy and very Fine Italian. I will be going back very soon!!!

I have to disagree with the good reviews given for this restaurant. We visited this restaurant on 6 July with a couple of friends. Despite paying nearly £75 per couple we did not have a good meal.First we were asked to order from the menu by number only not by the name of the dish, weird experience for a suposidly upmarket restaurant.Starters were fine - bruchetta and meatballs - but unfortunately it was not a sign of things to come. Veal main course was, like over cooked roast beef and the sauce was almost definitely just bisto gravy, it certainly wasn't a red wine sauce! Chicken in cream sauce tasted like chicken tonight and came with something very weird that wasn't mentioned on the menu...we could only deduce that it must have been deep fried spaghetti. That was vile and tasteless too. My friend ended up with completely the wrong meal - chicken complete with a spicy bisto sauce instead of chicken and white wine sauce.Hoping they would redeem themselves with the desserts we decided to try the white chocolate profiteroles. The menu claimed it would be chocolate filled profiteroles with a white chocolate sauce. Imagine our surprise when it came looking just like normal profiteroles. We even had to ask to see the menu again to check we hadn't misread the description! They tasted ok (probably bought in) but it was such a disappointment not to get what we ordered. The wine was expensive, there was lots of waiters but none seemed to know what was going on and we were asked several times if we wanted more wine when we'd already ordered it. Huge disappointment. Needless to say we left the discount vouchers (designed to make you come back) on the table at the end of the night!Bring back the mountain view!

I visited Venice restaurant as I was given the leaflets for the pasta deal but we came in and had a set menu. The options were fantastic and worth the money. The service was exceptional and very friendly staff who looked after us very well. The food was tasty and massive portions. We were also presented vouchers at the end of the meal. I will definately be going there back again and would recommend this place. Well done keep up the good work!!!!

Having read the other reviews, I booked this restaurant for lunch on Sunday 22/7/12 with friends. Our table was at 12:00 and there was only one other occupied table in the restaurant, which is quite large and needs customers to give it atmosphere. There were two waiting staff (which should have been plenty for the number of occupied tables!) yet the service was extremely slow. We had to ask several times to place our order and to receive the bread that was part of the set menu, plus we had to chase up the wine that we'd ordered. From sitting down to receiving our first course took approximately 40 minutes and the food was decidedly average. My sardines were over-cooked, didn't taste particularly fresh, didn't have crispy skin and definitely didn't marry well with balsamic vinegar. The rest of our party were reasonably satisfied with their starters. The main courses were also very average; three of us had mixed grilled fish which was pretty tasteless. I would not recommend this restaurant and find it hard to reconcile my experience with the other 5-star reviews on this page.

There is a wide range of choice when it comes to starters, mains, desserts & wines. I have visited this fine Italian restaurant at least four times now, I must say the quality of the food is always consistent and not to mention I have finally been to a restaurant where I have been impressed by the house wine for once, with it's elegant taste. The restaurant has a terrific atmosphere, with friendly staff. If you're looking for a romantic night out in Blackheath. I got to say Venice is the place to be. Definately will be re-visiting once again.

At last the wait is over. A terrific Italian restaurant has opened up in Blackheath. Authentic Italian cuisine. The chef is unpretentious and just gets on with the job of serving fantastic food without the pomp and ceremony of the other pseudo-Italian restaurants nearby. We have returned three times now and the food has been consistent. Needless to say we will be back with friends! Move over Chapters and Bella Vista, there's a new kid on the block. PS - good luck in the footie on Sunday!

We ate here before Moby's concert and it was very average. We both have o2, so the classic pizza is only £6.95 (with priority). It's the price it deserves to be fair, not much taste, and very bland. Overall service was fine. It got better when a nice lady took over. She was quick and kind.
