First and LAST time there! Very poor service and the pizza wasn't that great AND our waiter was nowhere to be found 99% of the time! Two tables who sat after us were served their pizza before us, my husband had to ask another waiter where our pizza was because ours was chatting it up with another one like he was on his own personal time. The pizzas was ready but our useless waiter didn't bother to get them. One of the pizzas was wrong and we had to wait but that was fine because we were eating the warm one. Our useless waiter never came back to the table to ask us if we wanted additional drinks, check on the table or "how is the food".

First of all the online reservation is no working,I had to call. Then we arrive and we order from the Valentine's menu. After 25 minutes the waitress brought 2 small bottles of water with no glasses, after 35 minutes abottle of wine (she didn't know even what wine the have) but I've asked for a glass. After 45 minutes I start to ask about my starters (caprese salad,I mean a bloody mozzarella with tomato) and ahe says that the xhef got cofused (about what? Mozzarella or tomato?).After 1 hour O told her that my wife (7 months pregnant) needs to eat something and we have to go to cinema, I've asked for a couple of pizzas but she said that we had to wait other 20 minutes because there are other tables, at that point we just left. With us other 3 couples that hopefully are going to write a review. They had 20 tables maybe with 2 waitress and 1 chef only, I am Italian and the menu was full of grammar mistakes). To avoid at any time!

I made 2 mistakes reserving a table here on a recent Saturday evening, first was ignoring the recent poor reviews which I found to be very accurate and, secondly, not walking out after being pointed in the direction of a bright yellow, unlaid table (which would not have looked out of place in a motorway service station) and being given a menu soiled and sticky with old food.Food very amateurish and overpriced and I certainly could have cooked better at home.Informed by waitress that most of wines on list not available but she did say the house red was like a Merlot but turned out to be a very nice Amarone which, for £16,was the only part of the experience which was good value and hence the One Star on my rating. Service very poor, plates not cleared. Not offered dessert or coffee and eventually had to go to bar for bill which they had the nerve to add service charge to! The worst part of this experience and the main reason I decided to write this review is there were no napkins or paper serviettes available. After asking several times was told they had run out and were waiting for a delivery. This is inexcusable, a bit of paper roll from the kitchen would have been better than nothing but was not even offered so I had to search my handbag for tissues !! My advice is avoid this place and go to a nearby pizza chain restaurant for a far better meal, better value and experience and at least they do provide essentials like napkins!,

Staff were chaotic and not trained properly. You could also smell cigerette residue in the shop. The food was poor and the drinks were very average. Its a shame the owner has let this place slip so much and surprising that a business of this low standard is still going.

Service was very slow and careless. Waitress used her hand to wipe the table. Felt dirty. No atmosphere, no music, very little in the way of decor. They forgot our order and when they put it back in it took about half an hour to produce two sloppy pizzas (made with chopped tomatoes instead of tomato sauce- so the topping slipped off every slice and had to use a fork). This is very disappointing as a restaurant which replaces what was once a local landmark- The Spread Eagle. The owners and staff have no idea about how to set up a business in a well loved area with respect for its history, let alone anything worth visiting for lunch. Never going in there again.

Loved the decor in this quirky little independent Italian & food was ok, some dishes delicious, but oh my, service was abysmal. We waited an absolute age for drinks on arrival & food delivery was beyond a joke with various orders forgotten & main courses placed down & left before people had barely begun their starters. I was asked 3 times if I could remind them what I’d ordered & received my main around 2 hours after ordering. It was one long hopeless comedy of errors. So much so it became funny. It’s not as if the menu is extensive or complex either, it’s mainly pizza & pasta. Such a shame as the place has character.

Arrived at 8 50pm for our 9pm reservation (which had been made online, but when no confirmation came through, rang restaurant to make booking). However the manager had no record of our booking. Waited 10 minutes at the bar to order a drink, to no avail, but then our table was ready, so decided to order when we sat down. Very few people in the restaurant but had to keep chasing up our drinks order, which eventually arrived after about 20 minutes. Still hadn't placed our food order and despite the waitress' promise to be back with us in a few minutes, she didn't return, so we decided to cut our losses and leave. Waitress was very apologetic, but couldn't give us a reason why the service was so bad. Other customers seemed to be having the same problem, with a table near us asking for the 10% obligatory service charge to be taken off (as well as food items they had ordered but not been given). Very disappointing for our friends who had booked the meal as a treat for us.

After a 5 minute wait we ordered two drinks and a cake. 30 minutes later we were still waiting for this to be brought to our table. Other tables were waiting a similar length of time - one table then received cold drinks. After half an hour when we went to check on our order they had not started to make it, despite not being busy. We then asked for a refund and had to wait again for this. Staff were unhelpful, uninterested and and did not apologise.

The restaurant has a nice atmosphere and the staff very amenable but service was not good enough – I mentioned this when paying the bill, the manager was most apologetic and proposed a good solution that we accepted; the complaint was managed very well. This place is away from the main centre of Greenwich opposite the theatre) and found only recently. I went with a friend who is vegetarian who felt the same as me about the place. The ambience of the place is what I would call Italian rustic. The seating is well spaced out and it was a good place to have a conversation. The menu was not as expansive as some others, but wide enough to find something that would appeal. The pasta meal I had was generous and made interesting by the use of fresh herbs. Friend had a pizza which had a very goof fluffy base that did not leave her bloated. Apparently this was made with sour dough.Service was friendly without the cliched style of most Italian restaurants. Will certainly be going back.

Wanted to try this place for a while so went with two other friends for dinner on a Thurs night. The service was good. We shared the croquettes and burrata for starters...the croquettes were absolutely enormous. Far too much for a starter, especially when they tasted of mashed potato and not a lot else. The pesto tasted like it had come from jar although the waitress assured us it was made fresh every morning. The burrata wasn't the least like burrata - more a cheap mozzarella. Real burrata should fall apart but we actually had to cut this up to share. Two of us had the orrechiette pasta for a main, which was average at best, and extremely al dente. Our other friend had a pizza which we all tried, and that was delicious. Al Pancino should rebrand as a pizzeria and forget about the rest! We won't be returning.

Where to start... We met the managers aboard the DLR where we bonded over the unbearable heat. We were on our way to Greenwich Park, so they suggested we stop by Al Pancino for a drink first, as it had the advantage of being right by the park. We fell in love with the gorgeous decor (the bathroom has a 120 year old sink!) and quaint fairy-lit garden, and decided to stay for dinner. I have no words to describe how delicious the starters, the pizza, the desserts (we had 4!) and the cocktails were. All ingredients are fresh and locally sourced and taste like being on holidays in Tuscany. But that's not even the best thing about Al Pancino, the managers and staff are delightful and welcoming people, who joined us for a few drinks, followed by the upstairs neighbour who, upon hearing our chatter in the garden, also decided to come down. They are the type of people who attract like-minded people and build a community around their business. Above all, they love what they do and they serve food from the heart.

We went here for breakfast on a Sunday morning. I walked past, looked in the window and thought "that's the place!" I wasn't disappointed. It has a shabby chic that is entirely real rather than put on. The building is very old, leaning, creaking and basically looking a bit like a film set. The breakfast menu is not huge but is tasty. Everything is very high quality. I had the Italian breakfast special. Every bit of it was really delicious. There was a great Italian sausage, excellent spicy beans, a well cooked egg, nice toast and delicious mushrooms. The portions weren't large (and therefore it was pricey). I think I could have eaten 3 of them easily. My partner's scrambled eggs, avocado and salmon also got a big thumbs up! The staff were quite friendly, but it was pretty slow. I think we waited for 15 minutes to order drinks and then we had to attract attention!

We waited 30 mins for drinks and only got to have one course (and some bread) in 90 mins!! So much for a leisurely pre cinema meal. The garlic bread was burnt and the main courses of pasta v small for £13 a portion. Apart from the children's wooden chairs at the tables, it's a nice layout inside and has a lot of potential. Sadly that potential isn't being realised.

Anche la pizza, sebbene con costi britannici (circa 9 sterline), non era male. Buono anche il caffè (consiglio il double, anche se costa 2 sterile o giù di lì). Celebrating a pre-birthday, birthday, my friends and I chose this restaurant on the off chance as it was reasonably new to the area. The old 'Spread Eagle' Restaurant used to be here. The outside was very inviting, so we looked at the menu. The menu was minimal, reasonably priced but enough to bring us in.Greeted with smiling faces as we walked through the slide salon style doors, and seated almost immediately. It is an old building, with a maze like quality and little hidden areas you would assume wasn't there. We ordered within 10 minutes, had the starter which was a Bruscetta. Everythin was so fresh and the bread was amazing. We waited for our mains but found out they hadnt notified the kitchen, which was not a good sign, but the staff attended to us immediately and the mains were brought to us, piping hot within 10 minutes... All is forgiven. We each ordered different dishes, I decided to go for the Parmigiana. What a great choice! Each bite melted in my mouth! Fresh ingredients, all vegetables were clearly cooked separately and brought together. A must try!!I must admit our table was silent while we ate, this never happens. We ordered deserts, dfferent options, I went for the Panacotta! Again another triumph!!I would highly recommend this restaurant,/however, their serivce needs to be addressed as I'm sure there will be unhappy customers shuld they have to wait. I also hope the food doesn't suffer when busy.I hope it maintains the high standard of food. I will be going there again, and submitting another review.

Good choice of starters and main courses on the menu, but word of warning, the portions are above average. We were glad we only went for a main course. Well I had great expectations of this, so called, restaurant 'and' cocktail bar, as their website gave a good impression, only to be hugely disappointed by the latter amongst other things. We were informed, once we have made several unsatisfied requests for the simplest of things, that they were short staffed and had to use agency staff for the evening. It would have been more advisable for the regular staff to work a little bit harder and explain to customers upon arrival, rather than use people who couldn't understand the easiest of requests, and the regular staff then come back and ask what is was you actually wanted. From using two smaller tables together to make one larger one, those two being of different heights, making it hard to seat your plate if you were unfortunate enough to sit in the middle, to not bringing requested items at all, this restaurant has to do much to improve. The description which includes being a cocktail bar is misleading as they have very limited choice of cocktails and upon requesting a well known cocktail times three, we were told it was not possible as they do not have the ingredients. SERIOUSLY a margarita contains tequila, cointreau, lime, ice and salt. Even most home cocktail cabinets carry those don't they? The limited menu is very costly for what they offer and is nothing more than your average italian and I can only speak for the starters and mains as we never as a group got offered desserts or coffee's at any point. Maybe they don't stock them either, who knows! Not an experience to be repeated I'm afraid.

They had a big fire going, good lighting, and the background music was fab, all of which gave a really good atmosphere. The food was great, very tasty bruschetta, a light but huge delicious pizza, and some scrumptious pork skewers with fat chips and feta. And a perfect wobbly panna cotta. So yes, we'll definitely be going back. It's a local business catering beautifully for local people. We need to use it not lose it!

The restaurant was full but there was space in the bar at a lovely high marble toped table, the staff could not have been more understanding when I knocked a glass over and it shattered they were quick and efficient in clearing it.We shared a starter of squid and prawns all coated in a light batter, more than enough for two! We both had the seafood linguine it was delicious, plenty of the main ingredient, the sea food too. We have to complement the staff who are all really great, friendly and very efficient, it was interesting to sit and watch them make great cocktails. Having lived in Greenwich for 6 years I have always found the lunch options (with the exception of the wonderful market) to be sadly lacking. On a cold January lunchtime and with a small baby in tow my husband and I stopped off at Al Pancino having visited in November for a party. Tucked far away from the tourists to be able to get a seat but within 2 mins of the centre, Al Pancino is a great addition to Greenwich. We had a lovely lunch - tomato soup to start (authentic and a nice portion) and then sharing a pizza (lots of topping and lovely doughy crust). Prices are typical for London (our bill was £32 for two soups, a pizza, two coffees and a nice glass of wine). Service was really friendly and incredibly hard working, though not perfect - it took a couple of reminders to get the coffee each time and the bill when we were ready to leave. All in all a very pleasant lunch and a new 'indoor' favourite place to eat.

The pizzas were lovely, delicious authentic Italian base. I had the seafood linguine which was superb. Lots of seafood and a yummy flavoursome tomato sauce. Much much better than the seafood spaghetti of a close Italian competitor - this one has more seafood and pasta is cooked better. Decor is great - low lighting, lots of big dripping candles on oversized candlesticks, ornate mirrors and dark walls. The booths make it very private too. We will definitely be returning.

My partner and I decided to book a meal on new years eve and go local. My partner had passed this restaurant a few times and had always wanted to try it so we went ahead and booked the set meal for new years eve for £40 each. They requested all of the money up front over the phone which was a bit strange but we were attending that evening so we thought nothing of it.On arrival we were greeted by a man in a tuxedo who seemed to be the host. This was in the bar and we could see into the restaurant in the next room.We gave our names and he pointed us to a table and two high chairs in the bar.He told us there was nothing left in the restaurant. We were never made aware of this on booking and all the money was paid upfront. He gave us some rubbish response to say that the two high chairs at the bar was "part of the restaurant" even though we were the only two people in the bar and it was in a completely different room!!! We actually had to argue with him and he would not back down. Reluctantly he gave us a table in the actual restaurant but my blood pressure was up at this stage! The food was really lovely and the service from the waiter was prompt and professional. The couple next to us we're paying and since they booked the 7pm table, they notified the host in the tuxedo that they need to deduct £10 from the bill as it stated that any tables booked for 7pm would get a £10 discount. The host said actually told them that they cant get the money back because its their own fault they agreed to pay the full amount of £80 over the phone at the time of booking and they didn't just pay £70!! Isn't this the restaurants job surely and not the guests?!?!We had also booked the 7pm table and he refused the refund with us also! Having worked in the restaurant industry myself for many years, I simply could not believe what I was seeing with the mannerisms of this employee. I'm simply hoping he was not a manager. He simply aggravated the guests and his attitude was horrendous.Such a shame for the restaurant as the food and decor was simply amazing and that is what the two stars are for. Unfortunately the attitude of this employee left a sour taste in the mouth!!!

The cocktail bar had a lovely ambience and it is worth having a pre or after dinner drink. Our meal was rather disappointing, small menu with a few things off on the night. This could be a really good restaurant with some staff training and a little more attention to the menu.

Nice Italian food with proper portions at a sensible price. The star of the meal for me was the tiramisu - amazing!

Always liked the deli/cafe but after a few disappointing dinners, nighttime at Al Pancino is much improved. The new menu has more choice and finally some great veggie options. It seemed like a predictable choice but the sourdough veggie pizza was the best pizza I've had in years. You also can't beat the characterful atmosphere and customer service. Fantastic to have this non-chain non-tourist trap restaurant on my doorstep. Thanks and look forward to coming back soon!

Thankfully the interior remains much as it has been in living memory, minus the paintings of course. Downstairs furniture is more in the eclectic cafe style than grand dining. The fire in the cosy cocktail bar provides the heart of the place so arrive early to have a cocktail here at the bar and later linger longer on the low seating after your meal. The cocktails are truly the highlight of your evening so make the most of their theatrical production and handsome presentation: they taste pretty decent too. As for the food it is very competent pasta and pizza. Note bene: You will be offered Parmesan on your seafood, the thickness of the pizza crust will blunt your appetite.

Disappointed with the Brunch offerings. Had I been able to read the menu online I'd have cancelled. £6 for poached eggs and toast is a bit steep but acceptable. However £1.50 for half a tomato is way overpriced. The ambience is good and the staff friendly if slow. We weren't hurried out as is all too common these days so that is a plus.

The restaurant is at the back of a cocktail bar in an old pub "the spread eagle ". The front is a very inviting bar area and the restaurant was surprisingly quiet for a Saturday. Nice for family or friends. The food was excellent can recommend the spaghetti with Gorgonzola and walnut. The service good if not exceptional. Overall highly recommended

Friendly and attentive staff, simple decor in cafe (not restaurant) style. Food average but sufficient in quantity. Outrageous price for the very ordinary house wine: £24 a bottle. You can charge such prices in Greenwich, but you have to be running a higher class establishment.

Absolutely ridiculous, I was having a lovely glass of wine with my mother which were £6 each the member of staff said he would bring my wine to the table (which was around 1m away from the bar.) when I went to pay for the bill the guy behind the counter typed in a number and just tapped my card and then said the amount. I asked where the extra £5.60 had came from and he said that it was for the service charge of him bringing the wine to the table!! If I would have known that I would have walked the 1 meter to the table myself!! Absolutely ridiculous would not recommend the place if you are not looking to be cheated out of hard earned cash by cheeky bar tenders who think you've had a tipple so can put whatever number that they want at the end of your bill and say service. 10% of £12 is £1.20 so I was charged 45% of the bill as a service charge. I am appalled that a local company would do this and expect some sort of apology. £17.60 is ridiculous for 2 SMALL glasses of wine. Not returning, a greedy company doesn't deserve my business. Will go to heaps next door who appreciate my business and have an actual conversation with me as well.

I have now visited 3 times. Breakfast, lunch and dinner. Loved it every single time. If you are looking for good, home cooked meals and you can be bothered to go as far as Greenwich, this is the only place in that area to go eat.

We are lucky enough to live around the corner from this little gem in Greenwich. With a recent introduction of their new pizza oven, this is a must visit if you're in Greenwich.Staff are friendly, food is delicious and they make a mean cocktail.Tucked away over by the park gates, the ambience and decor are like nothing else you'll see in the area. This place offers coffee, breakfast lunch and dinner, all with a touch of fabulous by Nicolas.

Visited post cinema - restaurant pretty empty - limited atmosphere; bar more occupied and better atmosphere. Drinks expensive - £5 for a bottle of Meantime and £8 for glass of sauvignon (but nice). Penne - small portion and I am not a big eater and no flavour - had to add salt. Pizza rustica ok but thick crusts and ham tasted pretty ordinary. Food not expensive. Overall disappointing.

Went for post cinema dinner with my wife on Friday. There's a good atmosphere about the place and its less pretentious than the venue's previous operator The Spread Eagle. Our waitress was excellent - very attentive. My wife had a lovely Gin cocktail. We ordered our food and not long after our main meal arrived before our starter! It was quickly sent back and the stater then arrived, a simple brushetta but really tasty. The main was good too a seafood linguini although not many prawns. Had a lovely bottle of Puglian Primitivo. Then our waitress must have gone off shift as we didn't get any more service - never offered desert! It was good value and good quality food, just a shame about some of the disorganisation.

We went to the Al Pancino for dinner. We ordered a garlic bread, which at £8 was a lot, and Linguine a La Marinara which was mainly pasta with a few clams, prawns and cherry tomatoes but not a lot of flavour, we both left a lot of pasta (which could have been cooked a little longer I echo previous reviews that wine was also expensive - a very mediocre Pinot Grigio was £24, this was cheapest on the menu.It only had one thing going for it – the coffee was good.We always prefer to go to an independent restaurant but this time we wished we had gone to one of the many chains that are in Greenwich.

We went to the Al Pancino for dinner, as our son and fiancee had previously eaten in the cafe and said it was very good. However, dinner was a different story. We both ordered the pasta with porcini mushrooms and Italian style sausage, which we had to send back because it was all pasta and no mushroom/sausage. Our son's fiancee had the aubergine dish and also had to send hers back because it just tasted oily and had no flavour at all. She re-ordered one of the specials (Penne pasta with smoked salmon) and said that was very good. Our son had the fried chicken and chips, but even with a simple dish like that, the chips were under-cooked.We were given 2 fresh dishes of what we had previously ordered and, although there were some mushrooms and sausage in it this time, there was also a lot of grit from the mushrooms, which was very unpleasant. Couldn't really say that there was any flavour to the sauce either, so we left most of the replacement meals as well.Wine was very expensive as well, £8.50 for a glass of Malbec, cheapest bottle of wine was £24.Even though the waitress was very nice and apologetic, we won't be returning. Sorry to say that the Italian chain restaurants produce better tasting pasta dishes than this independent restaurant, which is a shame.

A great new addition to dining in Greenwich. We have been several times now and have never been disappointed. The menu is quite limited but what they do they do very well and its good value for money. The bar section is also really nice if you just fancy a drink.

Popped into Al pancino last week on a recommendation of friends. Very impressed. The cocktail bar was really relaxed and friendly. The manager was very welcoming and credit to his staff as they really looked after us. Food is good. Seafood very good. They are also going to do take away pizzas for very competitive prices. Website is now up so you can see the menu. Certainly worth a visit. Jb

We just had a lovely lunch for 4 to say goodbye to a colleague. We chose salads, frittata, pasta and pork skewers. Nicholas the owner looked after us beautifully, the food arrived promptly and was delicious, and the menu was varied and interesting. My salad was better than the salad I had at Ottolenghi a couple of weeks ago and the portion was generous and was amazing value. We were in a rush so we were in and out in 50 minutes but we would have happily stayed on well into the afternoon. A wonderful addition to Greenwich in every way.

We had a great evening and loved the atmosphere of the cocktail bar. Our Aperol spritz were perfect just like in Italy, our gnocchi and cheese starter very tasty (ask for some of their yummy rye and seeded bread to dip in the sauce!), and the home-made tagliatelle with porcini mushrooms delicious! Staff were super friendly too, would definitely recommend it for cocktails or dinner or both!

Al Pancino has revived this place with great taste, preserving the vintage elements and adding a touch of modernity. Food is always freshly made and delicious. Service is one of the best we've experienced with a great attention to detail. And the well selected jazz music fits perfectly with the place. Fine selection of cocktails. Try the margarita, it is the best in London.

Being one of the few independent restaurants in Greenwich, I really wanted to try (and like!) Al Pancino. It also had fairly good reviews on TA and Opentable so I had high hopes. For anyone thinking this will be like it's predecessor restaurant 'The Spread Eagle' which closed down a few years ago - it's not. The food was bad.The octopus in tomato sauce was horrible, we had to send it back. The portions are also absolutely huge - why? Bruschetta consisted of soggy bread and a few chopped up tomatoes, and not a piece of basil in sight as described. The lasagne was ok, but to be honest we could have cooked a much nicer one at home. The wine was also poor standard. It was a Saturday night and the place was empty, we (2 people) asked to sit in one of the nicer booth areas and we told we couldn't because it was reserved for 4 people...did 4 people turn up? Nope. The 'manager' was also sitting behind us with his mates for half the duration of the meal, who were dressed in tracksuit bottoms and vests...Just don't bother with this place.

Al Pancino's is quite possibly the most charming coffee shop in Greenwich; tucked away behind the Greenwich theatre. Recently they've expanded into a deli, cocktail bar and restaurant. The owners are always there, offering friendly service. The coffee is pretty good and the selection of cakes and sandwiches gives diners a varied choice.Worth a visit.

Another great restaurant in Greenwich. We started with cocktails which were all very yummy, then moved on to various wines - all very good. The food was delicious and enjoyed by all. This is a lovely old building which had been modernised sympathetically to create a restaurant with a great atmosphere which is helped by the friendly staff.

I went with a party of friends. Service was very slow two drinks out of the party were nearly 10 minutes later coming than the others. There was a long delay in taking food orders and a further delay with the dishes coming to the table. Food, rather a limited menu and although delicious was not hot, this criticism may be because we eat Italian food frequently. However, the atmosphere was friendly and conducive to the occasion. The food prices were reasonable but the wine was rather costly, but this could be because it is a tourist area and counteracted the price of the food.

We came here for lunch and dinner over the weekend. The cafe is a great spot for lunch. It is so quiet compare to any other place in Greenwich. You can actually talk and don't feel rush to leave. The salad buffet is very good value. However the same quality did not go for dinner. We ordered a selection of starters but some turned up cold. The steak was good portion but lack flavor. I would recommend this place for lunch but not for dinner. There is better Italian restaurant and steak house nearby.

Incredible host: friendly, warm and welcoming without being overbearing / intrusive. Flat white was exceptional - best in Greenwich I'd say: right balance of rich and smooth (I went back on Monday and even though they were closed the owner happened to be outside working on new signage and opened up especially just to serve me!). Breakfast was good (croissants, scrambled eggs both great, but too much undercooked egg on my poached eggs for my liking, and the accompanying tomato was raw sliced - I thought it was going to be cooked).Overall fresh, friendly and fantastic!

Pizzas were good, though in insight, I should have gone for the “classic” pizza as the base is thicker and tastier than the romana. It wasn’t clear to me it would be different nor did our waiter gave us any info. In insight looking back at the menu now, I can see the small description, but it’s so overloaded with info that I wouldn’t be surprised others may miss it too. So to save everyone’s time 🤣: - Romana pizza = larger and thinner base - Classic pizza = smaller and thicker base What was very good though is that they had an offer on where kids were eating for free and that was clearly advertised outside. Lastly, being at the O2, the place can get quite busy so I’d recommend booking a table ahead of time or plan to eat outside peak hours to avoid queues.
