Our third visit here and we've been impressed every time. Our kids (9&11) enjoy this place although all the other groups were adults this time. Good number of other customers but didn't feel packed.

Ordered take away from here on Saturday night and was told it would be 65 minutes. Didn’t show up until an hour and 40 minutes later. When they passed over the bag I noticed the poppadoms and lime pickle were missing so flagged the delivery driver. He called the restaurant and the restaurant told him it would be another hour and a half for them to deliver 4 poppadoms and 2 lime pickles. Asked could they not send them out with the next driver? The owner of the restaurant said to the driver “tell them to request a refund, we can’t send them for at least 1.5 hours”. After a long wait, the food was ok. Wouldn’t order again. Understand that it’s busy on Saturday nights and mistakes happen but it’s their job to rectify said mistakes.

I have visited this wonderful restaurant a number of times, and came again last night for an impromptu meal with my partner. Once again, absolutely delicious. Super friendly service, with popodums being offered and served very promptly. The vegan chicken drumsticks starter was really crunchy and morish. I adore a really hot curry and the naga with vegan lamb seriously hit the spot. My partner opted for the mixed biryani which was so tasty and the portion was incredibly generous. We also went for a garlic naan and the bread was so soft and fluffy. So lucky to have such a wonderful vegan restaurant only a few minutes walk from home. Keep on being amazing!

We've ordered twice now from here and it's absolutely insane! Much prefer than a meat indian. That mock lamb is amazing. Definitely got two very loyal customers now. Delicious ☺️ Edit : another takeaway after a few months, the madras with lentils... literally one of the best meals I've eaten in SUCH a long time. They're so so so amazing.

What a luxury to have loads of vegan options and to have lots of choice when at a restaurant- the food was pretty tasty but was unfortunately let down by the slow and disinterested service, they also tried to charge me for the pickles and chutney that came with my popadoms which was a bit cheeky and put the “service charge” down as a “surcharge” which felt a bit sneaky

Came for a family meal with both vegans and non vegans amongst us - everyone was completely blown away by the food and we all took any leftovers home as it was too good to waste! As a vegan myself, it was wonderful to have so much choice - the vegan prawn dishes were especially a treat, as were the naans! The owners were also really lovely and were more than happy to accommodate a special birthday request for us. An absolute gem of a restaurant that I'll for sure be coming back to.

So many options, lots of variety. Vegan peshwari naan was a real highlight for me. All of it was delicious and portions were generous. Lots of options for fake meat, but meals were great with just veg too. Mango lassi was delicious. Plenty of low alcohol options. The puri on the menu isn't like pani puri so that threw me - still yum though. Onion bhaji was perfectly crispy Generous portions, definitely overordered

I was looking forward to try out this new place and ordered 4 meals with an extra Peshwari Naan bread to dip in the curries. Bomba Aloo (potatoes) that were on promotion (2 for 1) were on the edge of their freshness, flavour-wise average, very greasy (I scooped out 3 tbsp of oil from the top of one portion), while vegetable Bhuna has certainly already gone off and had to go to the bin (especially the broccoli in it was way past its shelf life!). Tempeh Tikka was very sweet and not enough savoury. I quite like the Tarka Dall, the Tarka in it given it the smokey flavour you would expect from the dish and I would rate it between average and good and lastly I don't think I have ever been disappointed with the Peshwari Naan, which was nice to dip in the Dall. I ordered from this restaurant not only because I was craving a pot of hearty, nourishing and delicious curry but also, as vegan myself, to support vegan establishment. I know already I won't come back there again. One wrong thing can occasionally slip in a busy restaurant establishment. I know very well how hard it is to work in hospitality and I could excuse that but what I certainly can not accept is the lack of even trying to deliver flavoursome food, that does not trying to cover the lack of cooking skills with a glass of oil and sugar. That being said, I have been served a plate of gone-off grease, and a couple of 'alright' dishes from there won't make me change my mind.

(reply to the owner's message: thank you for your reply. But you misunderstood my message. I don't mean to damage anyone, but to give a honest review of the food I was served. When ordering, I asked for extra spicy and minimum of oil, and I was served very mild chilli garlic curry which had more oil than vegetables. I even sent the dish back to the kitchen when I saw how greasy it was, and after few minutes it was brought back, nothing changed but it had already cooled down. Given that I was dining with other people, I did not want to continue trying to change my dish that our social time would not be ruined, so I ate the very low quality, already cold curry I was given. I got nausea for three days because my digestion could not take that much oil at once. I eat mostly Indian food so I know it can be made without excess of fat. I hope you would take this as constructive and helpful feedback from which you can learn, and not to be offended. If you want to serve good food, you should take also negative feedback seriously. But I appreciate the kind and friendly customer service and the beautiful restaurant atmosphere. Thank you) The customer service and restaurant atmosphere were great! Very kind, helpful and pleasant. But unfortunately the food was terrible. Even if I chose dishes that were meant to be spicy and asked to have them extra spicy, they simply lacked any flavour. I also asked them with minimum oil but they were soaked in oil. The portion size was great but greasiness and blandness very much ruined everything.

One of the best Indian Food Restaurants I have been too and the fact that is Vegan with substitutions meats made it even more interesting! I would highly recommend it and I’m not Vegan!

We were blown away by the food. We've been vegan for years and not come across anything like it. You're losing absolutely nothing by choosing this over a real meat curry, if anything the flavours were much more intense and multi-dimensional than many standard curry places that's serve meat. We were overwhelmed by the menu as there was so much choice. The no chicken bhuna was the standout dish for us. Lovely service as well. A must visit in Bristol. Wish we were local so we could come more often!

Great food, atmosphere and service. The flavours were amazing, so nice to be able to eat traditional Indian dishes. Non-vegan friends also loved it (can't tell the difference - or could argue is better ;) Proud to have a fully vegan Indian restaurant in Bristol :)

Having suffered many disappointing curries (vegan and non-vegan) the ones eaten at Vegan India were mind bogglingly fabulous. The depth of flavour of dishes hit the dopamine spot! Fantastic that everything is vegan but for those non-vegans - I think you could not be disappointed. I cannot over praise this restaurant. The staff were friendly and helpful, the surroundings comfortable and clean. Lovely, lovely, lovely 😋😋😋

The Butter chicken Indian style was delicious, good sides too. A bit chilly with the door open but the food warmed us up!

We went to Bristol as Young Ones fans and got the win of our life when we spotted this place across the road from the Baths (featured as The Fascist Pig bank and Neil's Police Station). We were lucky as it was a Sunday so they were open in the afternoon and serving Thali. This was the best Indian Thali I have had and the naan and chickpea 'channa masala' were world class. Beautifully decorated, friendly service and sells alcohol.... perfect! This row of shops can be seen when Rick pulled up in the double decker bus, the Young Ones house is a walk away. Brilliant Sunday adventure!

I ordered vegan dishes for my baby shower 2 weeks prior to the event and spoke to ramesh. I even called a day before to make them aware/let them know a day before that I had placed this order two weeks ago. On the day of the baby shower, I phoned them at 4pm to let them know my husband would be coming to pick up the order and was told that they were not aware of the order and so, I had to reorder on the spot (in the middle of my baby shower). This caused me unnecessary stress. The food I received all tasted really bland. Just to reply to your latest comment; free food. I spent over 200 pound for food that tasted bland and was insufficient for my guests. If you treat a catering order of £ 200 free food, I wonder what you would serve someone who orders a single order. Also what you sent me were sauces not an additional 10 curries.

Excellent food. Tofu Tikka and No Lamb Makhani (I think) were delicious. Also, bonus points for the garlic rice! The staff are incredibly friend and honestly I'll say it again, the food is great! The only thing I think could be helpful, is to put gluten free markers for dishes on the menu. It would be very helpful for people who are coeliac. Despite that, the staff were very helpful and took the time to let us know what was GF.

We went as a group of 6, and we all chose Vegetable dishes rather than “substitute meat” options, so I can’t comment on how good these are. The flavours were amongst the best I’ve ever had, the portions generous, and the Naan and rice perfect. Excellent prices too, so will definitely return. Highly recommended.

One of the top vegan restaurants in Bristol, and certainly the best when it comes to Indian cuisine. The mock lamb served is one of the best substitutes I've tried, almost indistinguishable from the real thing. Interior is cool, great service too.

At last ! A restaurant offering meat free alternatives in their curries ! I'm not a vegan, but I don't need to eat chicken in my curry . My partner is vegan and it was so brilliant not to have to disect the menu for the vegan options . The food was ace , the service was friendly , I felt the decor on the walls hadn't been completed quite yet to create the atmosphere of a modern , vibrant , forward thinking restaurant and venu for special nights out (the blossom trees and flowers are brilliant, more of that kind of thing please, perhaps murals?). We'll be back !

Delicious food, fast, friendly and efficient service and a lovely restaurant. SO brilliant to know that everything on the menu is vegan from the king prawns, chicken and lamb to butter bean, tofu and tempeh options. Highly recommended. The only way they could improve would be to add ingredients to the menu (I wasn't sure if my prawns were made of cognac root or soya) and maybe some pictures on the walls.) Looking forward to going back and bringing friends next time. #veganbristol

I recently tried the vegan Indian on the G Road and was thoroughly impressed! The mushroom meat substitute in the vegan delight was incredibly tasty, lots of flavour, would definitely order again! The onion bhajis were a light and crunchy treat that complemented the meal perfectly, adding a crispy texture. Overall, I highly recommend it for anyone seeking delicious vegan options that offer great value for money.

Had a delicious meal here last night. I am not even a vegan/ vegetarian. Classic menu without the meat. Really tasty and full of flavour - up there with the best.

I haven’t had Indian food since going vegan 10 years ago, so when I found this place I was pretty excited. I ordered the korma, saag paneer (tofu), coconut rice and peshwari naan and I was blown away by everything. Everything was so full of flavour and just unbelievably delicious. I think next time I would book a table as the only thing that let it down was how late the delivery arrived. But the wait was worth it.

I went here on my recent birthday and I must say I had an absolute meal. Such was the quality of the food that several of us in attendance remarked to each other that it was really good. And we certainly weren't exaggerating! Oh no! I was sat next to my dear brother and a good friend of mine. I've known my little brother since his birth and my friend since I was perhaps 16! (I'm now 33!). The other end of the table was more quiet than ours (in terms of conversation) and I do wonder if the party could have sat in a slightly different arrangement to stimulate greater conversation. I suppose this isn't really the fault of the staff at the restaurant. They weren't to know the dispositions and propensities of the attendees, but if they had a would have been mighty impressed. Everything was nicely spiced and greatly flavoursome. It was a delight to have Indian food that included fake meat as I hadn't had this before and it meant that the systematic torture and murder of living beings wasn't required. At all! I don't think. The fake king prawns were the only thing I wouldn't recommend but somebody would probably like them.

As a non vegan, I enjoyed the food. Had the prawn, and beef starter then chicken makhani. The chicken still had a bit of a soya taste but was otherwise nice. Great peshwari naan. Got the £15 lunch deal. Good value for money.

We had to wait 3 hours for our delivery ordered via Deliveroo. Absolutely unacceptable and terrible service. We called to chase up our order and the person could barely understand English. Completely ruined our evening. We had to put our daughter to sleep 3 hours later than usual.

Unfortunately not great. It’s a shame as I have previously really enjoyed the food, (even though it is usually quite late) and really want to support vegan businesses. Ordered a takeaway to be delivered. It took 3 hours to arrive which is just unacceptable. I called for an update after 2 hours and the man I spoke to did not speak very good English so we didn’t really understand each other and I thought he’d told me he would call me back after speaking to the driver but he didn’t. After that they stopped answering calls. Eventually the food turned up, cold. It was tasty but I wouldn’t say it was as good as I’d previously had but maybe that was because I’d gone past the point of hunger? Anyway, it ruined our evening we’d had planned and my partner had ordered a takeaway from somewhere else that we were going to eat together, he had to eat his without me as he was starting to get hangry and argue with me. I’ve heard the restaurant is great, unfortunately haven’t managed to visit but I certainly won’t be ordering a takeaway from you again.

For years since going vegan, I never thought I would eat another British style korma and peshwari naan in my life (my old favs) but since moving to Bristol and trying Vegan India I'm so happy I can experience these again in vegan form! Absolutely incredible.

Went here for a Christmas do with Vegan friends. The entire menu is completely vegan. I usually am not a huge fan of South Asian food but the Mushroom Biryani was delicious and they had a few Western items which I took great delight in. Great place for Instagram photos.

We had this to take away and the food was still incredible and even presented really well in the takeaway tubs. The staff were very friendly upon collecting it and it was a very swift and easy transaction. I’m not vegan and usually I’m reluctant to try vegan imitation meat as sometimes the textures can be strange, however, this was not the case here. I tried the vegan chicken and vegan lamb; both were absolutely delicious and the textures perfect - I was really impressed. As well as that, I think the food is a really good price. I’m happy that as a student I can still afford to eat at a great place like this where the food is amazing. I will be returning 100%.

Very underrated place. The food is lovely even if you’re not vegan. I had some amazing food for a decent price. If you’re a vegan - the meat alternatives are made really well and have an amazing flavour. Can’t say much about the atmosphere as we were the o my table there - probably due to a heat wave so can’t blame anyone other than the weather. When I asked for a description about the food the waiter couldn’t really tell me much about it other than what it was already written in the menu so it was hard for me to know what I was ordering as ‘special Indian spices’ can be absolutely anything - however it was very nice anyway.

On Holiday and decided to take the 40 minute each way drive to give this place a go and oh my god it was worth it. I haven’t had a vegan chicken tikka masala so true to its meat counterpart since turning vegan 6 years ago, the starters and sides/bread were also really good. Pricing wise is extremely fair, we had quite a lot between two of us and it came to £46 including a good 10% service charge. Would definitely try again

Great food, lovely service. Lots of choice. We thought the fake lamb was great. Shame the bathrooms are really tatty and quite grubby but everything else was spot on!

First of all. Id like to say that i really liked my food. I loved the meat substitutes they offered and it was well made tasty food. Unfortunately our server seemed to have had a bad day and was not really friendly(no hard feelings, happens-i think I also heard him talk to another customer about it Beeing his last days or something like that, so I assume it's a personal problem he had). It was also weird that we ordered the starter with the vegan chicken nuggets with the mint sauce and it was missing without comment. We were then informed that most people don't like it which is why we got some other sauce (barbecue and something hot and sweet they were fine too, but we realized to late and would've loved to try it before asking - partly our fault as we realized to late). Most of the food was really good but we were thrown off a bit about the slightly sour garlic rice(we don't know if that's normal -just mentioning it in case someone else knows what to expect) as it is made with pickled garlic. I really loved my "mashroom" rice tho. Overall 4* the only star I removed was because we felt a bit unwelcome at first due to him having a bad day. If I could come again I would! Unfortunately we are heading out of the city now. Thank you for offering amazing vegan Indian food options! Overall we spend around 60£ PS later on we saw the otherwaiter talk to other customers and we were a bit jealous as he was very friendly. So it's not a usual issue I assume.

As a meat eater this was one of the best curries I've had in Bristol. The main curry portions could have had a bit more sauce but apart from that it was great.

Had a great time at Vegan India. The staff were friendly & attentive. The food was lovely, and it was so nice to be able to have so much choice! We went for papadams with dip selection to start. Then we shared a vegetable passanda, mango vegan lamb, garlic naan, keema naan, and vegetable rice. Would recommend for vegans and non vegans alike! Will bring family & friends in the future.
